Arguably one of the worst schools in UAE. I'm writing this down because no parent should ever make a mistake by putting their kid here in this school. Just don't bother taking the CBSE curriculum in general because it's the absolute worst. It is outdated and just theoretical. Mugging up is the only way to score and if you can't seem to do that then suddenly you are labelled as "incapable". This school will drain you out and make you feel worthless and pressurize you until you score "outstanding" marks which are according to their "perfect" school standards. And in the end, most of us don't know for what we are studying and most of us don't even know what an ambition means. This school believes that if you can't mug up all the portions, you are an absolute idiot and is "not capable of moving forward". Yes, they actually use such harsh words. The school gives us student surveys every year for us to give a feedback. Obviously the result was low because they don't seem to care about us and expect all of us to be some sort of robots who are only meant to study. And what is funnier? Our principal clearly does not know what a survey means. A survey is conducted so that an organization can acknowledge its problems and come up with solutions. But the principal begged us to make our survey results better next time and was so mad at us for doing so (because we were being completely honest). Even held a separate assembly just to talk about it and another assembly in the auditorium to talk about it again. You can't beg for results. Its called a survey for a reason and you have to serve its purpose first. If she had actually cared, she would have asked us about our problems and tried to solve them but instead she lashed out at us and asked whats wrong with US. Everyone is about pride and reputation these days. She's a perfect example of this sentence. Even my dad agrees with me that the principal only cares about her reputation and not the wellbeing of the school girls (more academic percentage = school reputation increase = principal will be credited for how "well" she takes care of the school = principal's reputation increases and she can even move up a post) Once you are a senior, they won't let you participate in sports unless you have good marks (even if you are good at sports). Medical fees is a waste, we all can check our height and weight at home. I haven't had picnics for the past 4 years of studying here. And if we ask for anything they will say the typical dialogue i.e. "you are in grade ____ (insert any any grade from 9-12) you have no time for that". Too much academic pressure and they don't care about the students' wellbeing but only about how much an individual can score because they need to get that 'perfect' overall grade scores to showcase that this school is the best, but in reality its the absolute worst. There are some teachers who teach well, understands us and are kind enough to give us breaks in between the periods (because we are humans and we get tired too). God bless them for existing. But just like how a coin has two sides, there are some teachers who are just utterly sadistic. And some who don't even know how to teach us and expect us to know all the answers because of course we are experts at this (note my sarcasm). Like how are they even hired? On what basis? And even if you complain about a certain teacher to the supervisor, nothing is done about it. Exactly they simply don't care about us. The ONLY thing we got which we had fun last year was the farewell preps, then again the science students were not allowed to take part in the preparations. If you take up science stream in this school, forget about the whole idea of having a life. It's sad to see my friends being pressurized the hell out of them just because they are "science students". This school system is rigged. My friends from another schools couldn't even believe that such a school exists. This is a review and therefore I have all rights to write this down and this is a genuine opinion shared by many.

This is my third year at this school in a row and I did have wonderful experiences borne at this school and academics and teaching is above par , nevertheless the pressures at this school is abysmal. Exams are scheduled at unreasonable dates and to attain the peak of pressure, the school is also conducting co-curricular competitions when the exams are on the verge to begin. Moreover, I feel that the school offers a lot of competition and activities to participate but is very biased and partial. For example, since my speaking skills are adored by all, I was uplifted and thought to give a shot at the English Week. I took part in the elocution competition, nevertheless I was shattered when I learned that I did not get selected. I gave my best without any hesitations. I believe the teachers need to select the confident, aspiring and the budding students in the first round. You may eliminate them if you didn't like them in the second round. Same thing happened without one of my fellow friend. She is very talented at vocals and singing but when she tried for an event named APD, she got eliminated at the first round. She had won a lot of awards and prizes for singing. To add some humour, I think the teachers who select the students for these competitions think that as if they are judges of America's or Britain's got talent. These are school competitions not Indian Idol, Dance India Dance or America's or Britain's got Talent. Only the prefects, student councils or their own known dudes get selected in competitions. The management at OOB is better than OOS I believe they are doing just for the name and fame of the school. They have good curriculum implementations and teaching learning methods. Also I believe, if they stop running behind the fame and name also deduct the fees to a reasonable budget then, it can be the best school in MENA region. Also I believe popularity isn't always a good thing. That is what I wanted to convey.. Priyadarshini Ghosh Student of Grade 9O at OOS

I’m writing this review based off of my  experience during my last year of high school. This was 2019-2020. Since our classes were mixed (different sections together for a particular subject) we were supposed to move around to different classrooms. For home science, in the beginning of the year itself we were informed that we ‘don’t have a classroom’  meaning that we don’t have any place to sit. So for REST OF THE YEAR, we were made to go to the LAB everyday, either sitting on the floor or standing for long period of hours, up to 2 when there were block periods. We faced a lot of issues obviously, but the worst part is that nothing was done about it. (like how our books used to get wet by placing them on granite countertops next to the sinks, because, you know, there was no other place) i.e,complaints were made to the teacher who took it up to the supervisor. We personally spoke to the headmistress AND principal who promised to arrange seating within a few days but no initiative was ever taken. I understand that there’s other things to be taken care of but this was simply not acceptable. !!!!So for the rest of the year whenever there was an inspection, a classroom was somehow arranged for that time only. Since sitting in the lab with stoves and other equipment was a safety hazard :))!!!! There are several other things I’d like to mention but I wanted to point out this isolated incident to show that the school is overpopulated and unorganized.

I used to study in this school from kg-1 to grade 3. I will share my experience of when I used to go to this school. The exams were very complicated and none of the questions came from what we actually studied. All of the teachers just cared about finishing the portions and didn't care wether they understood or not. Nor did they even care about the students wellbeing. The teachers used to have favorites in the class and absolutely applaud them for their high marks. Whilst the students who used to score low marks were criticized and ignored by the teachers. They did not even care to help improve their scores. The teachers were also very rude to the students when they couldn't answer a question or had a small doubt. Only some of the teachers were actually nice and were eager to help you instead of being toxic and ignorant towards you. Most of the students there are racist and disrespectful towards you. If you are not a teacher's child or from Kerela, be prepared to suffer. The teachers also only favor children who are toppers. They don't even care about the other students or give them a chance at anything.

  • Ann

this school sucks. Do not send your child here if you do not want them to end up mentally exhausted and depressed. Most of the teachers are horrible and insecure, they feel a sense of accomplishment when they project their feelings onto young children. The pressure put upon the young minds of these children is not at ALL conducive for a healthy learning experience. I’m speaking from experience. I was a student at OOEHS for 12 years of my life from kindergarten to Grade10 and I can confidently say that transferring to a different school literally changed my perception of Learning. I could NOT believe That LEARNING COULD ACTUALLY BE FUN AND NOT A CHORE. Additionally, The crazy bias teachers have towards prefects is disgustingly unfair. I recall in 4th grade, The school would classify students into 3 different categories, High Achivers/ Medium Achivers and Low achivers. How could these grown adults put a label on a childs capability and then read it out infront of the whole class? Children are not punching bags. I hope this review has shed some insight into this evil money hungry school.

Hello OOEHS! It is I Priyadarshini, an 8th grader...I am proud to be an OOS student and the education is impeccable....affordable fees....benevolent teachers.....sumptuous infrastructure...critical thinking skills....being at this school, it feels like being in a Cambridge IGCSE school....it never feels like being in CBSE.....A big hug to Our OWN and may god bless you....It would be even better if IGCSE and IB is implemented...BEST SCHOOL IN THE WORLD...deserves outstanding by SPEA. This school ameliorates our co curricular skills.. . Earlier, my English was inept but the teachers helped me to hone and ameliorate my English skills and that is why I am using ambitious vocabulary in my review 'cause I love writing.. . This school is truly an ENGLISH school...My friend and I enjoy studying in this school and have a lot of memories borne at this school...GOOD JOB OOEHS.

Enrolling me in this school was the best decision my parents have made. Now an alumni, having completed 14 years in this institution, I can proudly state that Our Own has helped create a well-rounded student in me, equipped with all the skills needed to tackle this competitive world. What marks Our Own is that it constantly strives for betterment. From innovative teaching methods (blackboards to smart boards) to infrastructure, I have witnessed the tremendous growth of the school over these years. The school also provides ample platforms for students to explore and display their talents; it is indeed the perfect balance of excellent academic results and extra-curricular activities. I will always be a proud Our Ownite and forever indebted to the school for all it has given me.

  • A Theory

When are yall going to be giving fair chances to your students? Favouring prefects and G&T over other students is discriminatory behaviour. Also the way the teachers berate students for scoring low in exams and the monotonous school hours everyday doesnt make it easy for anyone. students dont deserve that. can yall change that so no one goes into depression soon? thatd be great. FYI: throwing a bunch of JEE and NEET questions into your exams doesn't make you all look smart and show your academic prowess it shows that yall cant do a good job equating questions to the lesson taught. Tough questions that dont make sense are ineffective if the lessons arent taught properly and teachers dont bank on the fact that all your students go for tution cuz not all of them go.

I had studied here during my primary school years. It had to be the MOST racist school ever. This was an incident that had happened to a cousin of mine. She had won a few sports competitions and was asked to get out of the winners picture because she was of a 'darker' complexion. And any students that werent performing well in studies were treated like garbage and almost like they had some disability. This was more than 10 years ago and I do remember these incidents pretty well too. I was pulled out of the school because of the bullying I faced for being a little plump and like they love to call it 'darker' complexion. Not the place to put your child in if he/she needs a virtuous future. That applies to any of the GEMS schools

Outstanding school... undoubtedly the best Indian curriculum School in Sharjah. Good campus, exhaustive facilities, good use of teaching aids including smart board, class room activities, online work sheets etc. Develop the all-rounder in kids and nurture them in a competitive environment. Develop the student to self manage their studies. Teachers are reasonably accessible. Visionary principal and management. Tuition fee is reasonable, but bus fees is on higher side. Credit card and on-line payments options available. One of the old schools with large alumni. Kids love this school and feel proud about studying here.

  • Mohammad Jahangir

i am one of the student, who joined this school in 1987 till 1991, I think this school really changed my standard of studying, great experience in this school while studying, I will like to meet any of my class mates from that year, I remember in that particular period sir sheikh was the leaading man, specially our English teacher sir chanda. i might be wrong in name., I really miss that particular period. becoz I am in pakistan so have not seen this school for about 25 years .. so I also like to thanks Google map for their street view , hope i might be there some day to share my amazing memories.

  • Shefi Shamsuddin

Good ranking, highly secure yet flexible, well placed location-wise (with not so great parking facilities and peak hour cramming up rush though), fees is on the higher end. COVID-19 related arrangements were partly decent & partly imposed with the management turning a deaf ear to most parents' pleas and queries being highly discouraged and shut out. Been facing serious issues with language teachers since the start despite several reminders and requests to put a check on their teaching method.

  • Rafia Sheikh

As iam a proud ex student of this school of year 1999 , I had to shift after grade 8 as I wanted study IGCSE curriculum . It will be great if you can start with both CBSE and IGCSE curriculum just like the Gems millennium school Dubai ,so that the students can have the option to choose .( previously before year 1995 I know our own had both curriculum. I want my daughter to study in this same school without shifting to any other school .All the best :)

  • Anju Elizabeth

My kids go to Our own English high school since 2016 and we are extremely happy with the academics and the teachers there. Under the great leadership of Ms.Asma Ghilani the teachers are doing a fabulous job when it comes to academics.Learning goes beyond the textbook and application based question papers are set to give the student an indepth knowledge. The teachers treat parents with a lot of respect and our concerns are dealt with seriously.

It has been a wonderful experience working in Our Own English High School(GIRLS'), Sharjah. The leaders are very supportive and cooperative. They act as role models for me. I am learning a lot of things from them such as taking decisions at the right time, being patient listeners and many more. My colleagues are very understanding and supportive too. It is truly a pleasure to work in OOEHS (Girls') Shj.

  • Indrapriya Sucheendranathan

I am a teacher at OOS. I love my school a lot, not just because that I am working in this school. This school makes me feel like being with family. Especially the heads of the school along with our Principal, Ms. Asma Gilani gives various opportunities to all the teachers to grow and develop their knowledge and experience.

  • Azeenamra Amra

I’m giving 2 star for this school because of the number of holidays they gave in this year for small small things and not much activities for children this school is not like before now just because of the name they are famous that’s it once you enter this school you will get to know

  • Anam Hayat

Parents do yourself a favour and never send your kids to this school! Went to OOEHS for 10 years. And I could tell its left me my brother traumatised. Almost everyone is racist here. You either have to be a teacher’s child or from kerela to get thru this place.
