Thonburi Railway Station. I have been saying for many years that I wanted to visit this Station ( not for train spotting I might add ) but to take the train to Kanchanaburi to see the River Kwai Bridge and the war graves. This I finally did in 2014, The train journey costs 100 Baht each but free for Thai people. The train leaves at 7.50 am or 1.55 pm. Many say it’s not easy getting to Thonburi, the main reason for this is that many taxi drivers do not want to go on the meter. They know that the fares they pick up from there are usually Thai and therefore no tips or false fares. I use the Sky Train from Nana station the part of Bangkok where I usually stay. Change at Siam Square to the Silom line then enjoy the great ride over the Chao Phraya river to Wong Wian Yai Station. Then walk down to the far side to the Krung Thonburi road, take a taxi which then travels along the Somdet Phra Chao Taksin road to King Taksin the Great Monument roundabout. From there you take the Prajadipok road, for a short distance, then take the Itsaraphap road passing Big C superstore to Sutthawat road where Thonburi Railway station is. The fare should be around 70 / 80 Baht depending on traffic, I usually give 100 Baht with tip. The Bangkok Noi Railway Station was opened on 19 June 1903, and served as the terminus of the Southern Line of the State Railway of Thailand's national rail network. In 1942, the station was renamed Thonburi Station. During World War II, the station became strategically important as the Japanese base of operations for supplying the construction of the Burma Railway. It was severely damaged by repeated Allied bombing in December 1944 and March 1945. The station was rebuilt in 1950 though its importance decreased toward the end of the twentieth century as more Southern Line trains were re-routed to terminate at Hua Lamphong Station. ( The Southern rail line had been connected to the Northern, North Eastern and Eastern rail Lines with the construction of Rama VI Bridge in 1927 ). In 1999, to celebrate King Bhumibol Adulyadej's 72nd birthday, the station and its surrounding areas were redeveloped into a park and parking and service areas for Siriraj Hospital. A new station known as Bangkok Noi Station until 2003, now known as new Thonburi Station was built about 900 metres from the original station to replace it as the Southern terminus. Trains to the old station continued until 3 October 2003. Outside the station is a very busy street ( Thanon Sutthawat ) and market. This market named Rot Fai is large compared with most of the markets around this area and is usually frequented by Thai people so don’t expect much English to be spoken here. The main road running along the front of this market is Soi Wat Wiset Kan. The station itself is not large or elaborate like Hua Lamphong but it has its own unique character. The staff here are so friendly from the ticket office lady to the security guard that showed me all round and told me all the train times for the Kanchanaburi trains leaving for the following day ( the day we were travelling ). What was amusing here was seeing all the locals from along the track bringing in items for sale in Bangkok. All manner of items are carried on the trains in plastic bags, helped by the security guards when the train arrives. They are then loaded onto either Tuk Tuk’s or vans owned by family to travel onto their destination to sell. The following day arriving at 07.30 am for the 07.50 am train it was somewhat chilly for Thailand. But was acceptable for early in the morning. Not many were travelling that morning so a choice of seat was easy to find ( They don’t use the usual method here of allocating you a seat number when you book ). The journey to Kanchanaburi took about 4 hours and was all I expected it to be.

To catch the train to Kanchanaburi, you must get to the Thonburi Railway Station in Bangkok. The train ticket cost was 100 baht each, which is an excellent price. If you are hungry, just opposite the train station, there is a great place to purchase meals, fruit, and snacks for your journey and experience an authentic slice of Thai life. The seats on the train are basic, bench style with foam padding, and you will find a bathroom on board and a sink to wash. Fans are mounted on the ceiling and oscillate to try and help with the heat. Opening the window also helps with the heat and provides a view of the trip, not that there is anything special to see. While traveling past Kanchanaburi, the views get spectacular as you travel along the Kwai River. Halfway through your trip, local vendors board the train to sell food and cold refreshing drinks, so if you forgot to bring something along, this is your chance to get a snack and a drink. อาคารแรกเริ่มเมื่อสร้างสถานีบางกอกน้อย ตั้งแต่สมัยรัชกาลที่ 5 เป็นอาคารคอนกรีตชั้นเดียวหลังคาทรงจั่ว มีหลังคาคลุมชานชลาสร้างด้วยไม้ทั้งหลัง ตั้งอยู่ด้านทิศใต้ริมทางรถไฟ(ทางประธาน) อยู่เลยลึกเข้ามาทางด้านทิศตะวันตกของริมแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยาประมาณ 300 เมตร ต่อมาเมื่อครั้งสงครามโลกครั้งที่ 2 กองทัพญี่ปุ่นได้ตั้งกองบัญชาการขึ้นที่สถานีรถไฟบางกอกน้อย จากนั้นไม่นาน ฝ่ายสัมพันธมิตรได้ส่งเครื่องบินเข้ามาทิ้งระเบิดสถานีรถไฟบางกอกน้อยอย่างหนัก ตัวอาคารสถานีรถไฟบางกอกน้อยได้รับความเสียหายบางส่วน บริเวณข้างเคียงยังมี โรงรถจักรธนบุรี ซึ่งเป็นสถานีบำรุงรักษา-ซ่อมแซมรถจักรดีเซลที่สำคัญแห่งหนึ่งของการรถไฟฯ และยังเป็นที่เก็บรักษารถจักรไอน้ำที่เหลืออยู่ของการรถไฟฯ

Stoję na dworcu kolejowym „Thon Buri” w Bangkoku i moje myśli płyną w różne strony. Pociąg, który właśnie przyjechał, nie wygląda na pierwszej świeżości, a wyposażenie pozostawia wiele do życzenia. Niemniej jednak, atmosfera tego miejsca jest niezwykle klimatyczna i wprowadza mnie w magiczną podróż w czasie. Słychać odgłosy tłumu, hałas uliczny miesza się z odgłosami starej lokomotywy. Kleiner und einfacher Bahnhof für einige Züge der 3en Klasse. Hauptsächlich bekannt für den Zug nach Kanchanaburi und weiter nach Nam Tok über die Death Railway. Die Toiletten sind sauber, kosten jedoch 3 Baht. Der Ticketverkäufer sprach Englisch und es ging alles sehr ordentlich zu und her. Essen gibt es auf der anderen Strassenseite, für Kaffee etc gibt es direkt am Bahnhof ein Cafe Amazon. Am besten nehmen sie das Orange Flag Boat bis zur Station Thonburri Railway Station. Von hier sind es 10min zu Fuss.

Use this railway sation to board the train for Namtok. Its a best train to go to namtok in on way you can see the death bridge (Riverkwai Bridge) which is made of wood. In between the journey you can breakdown it to the kanchana Buri Station so see the Erawan Waterfall. The train was neat and clean. for local people the charge - 30-40 Bath, but for foreigner they charge - 100 Bath. they have special boogie for foreigners.

Thon buri railway station is the best station for those love around Bangkok city area and travel around Thailand on a cheaper way with a good experience. I have been here to go to kanchanaburi and I enjoyed the ride on this local train. You can come here via Nearby MRT or Boat pier. There is big market close to these station which helps us to get almost all things before get a long travel.

The first train for namtok depart at 7:45, not 7:50 or 7:55. And the distance between this station and chaopraya express pier is quite far not so close and road is very crowd due to comuting workers and market around big hospital. If you want to ride on the train without train-missing worry, you have to hurry up.

a small old station with only a few trains running each day. there are two trains a day to and from Kanchanaburi and its definitely the nicest way to get to Nakhon Pathom, Ratchaburi and Kanchanaburi. it is only 3rd class carriages which means no aircon but windows open wide so you get a breeze and a good view

A relatively small station serving many destinations. The staff are great and there are nice pews to sit on. There's an in situ coffee shop and the market is just opposite the station, handy for last minute snack, late lunch or fruit cravings. The toilet costs 3 baht but no soap/toilet rolls provided.

ไม่ได้นั่งรถไฟมานานมาก นั่งครั้งแรกในรอบหลายยยยยปี เพื่อไปราชบุรี ราคา 19 บาท นั่งประมาณ 3 ชั่วโมง คนใช้ไม่เยอะ เลือกที่นั่งได้ตามสบาย ออกตรงเวลาประมาณ 7:30 เลือกขบวนหลังสวน-ธนบุรี ตามตั๋วจริงๆ ถึงประมาณ 9:30 แต่ว่าเลทนิดหน่อย ติดรอรถหาดใหญ่ที่โพธารามประมาณ 1 ชั่วโมง

นั่งรถไฟ ไปกาญจนบุรี /ราชบุรี /นครปฐม/เพชรบุรี/ประจวบคีรีขันธ์ หรือไปหลังสวน ชุมพร สามารถมาขึ้นที่นี่ได้ วันนี้จะนั่งไปประจวบคีรีขันธ์ รอบ7.30น.56฿ เนื่องจากเป็นวันสงกรานต์ มีผู้คนมารอซื้อตั๋วจำนวนมาก รถไฟออกตรงเวลาครับ

2023.01.22 不便な場所にあるが、行ってみたかったので。昔の駅はチャオプラヤー川のそばにあったが、再開発でこの場所がターミナルになっている。といってもホームが二つだけの田舎の駅だ。 乗車予定の便は、折り返し便の到着遅れで、出発が1時間半ほど遅れていた。ナコンパトムが目的地だったので、別便で行けたから良かったが、始発駅で大幅な遅れは大変だ。 食事は駅前に市場があるので何かしら食べれる。

Easy train station to use if you’re heading out to Kanchanaburi. 100baht for a one way ticket. Easy to use the time tables. I got the 13.55 and there’s one at 7.50.

ก่อนขึ้นรถไฟไปเมืองกาญจนบุรี หาของกินได้รอบรอบสถานีธนบุรี ก๋วยจั๊บ กาแฟ อยู่ใกล้กับสถานีเลย อาหารอีกหลากหลายประเภท ตลาดสดด้วย ไปเมืองกาญฯเช้าเย็นกลับได้

Helpful people and the trains are quite on time. The waiting areas are peaceful and clean and you can get local snacks right opposite to the station.

มาซื้อกับข้าวแต่ไม่ทุกวัน มอไซค์จอดได้ รถยนต์ลำบากหน่อย คนเยอะเป็นตลาดเช้า สินค้าบริโภคถูกมาก ตลาดศาลาน้ำร้อน มีชื่ออยู่แล้วติดกับสถานีรถไฟธนบุรี

カンチャナブリーゆきの駅です。 バンコク市内からはタクシーで 目の前は市場なので朝ごはんが食べられます。 トイレは3バーツ、駅の構内にカフェアマゾンがありました。なかなかいい雰囲気の駅でした。
