დიდი სინაგოგა

Decided occasionally to enter the building while walking the street. I had few questions related to Judaism, asked a man inside who supposed to be a personal. Started a conversation about this building and was forwarded to read some info in front of building, so was not in a position to step into further conversation. This was my first time I visited synagogue in my life and usually people who serve in different churches and temples are more friendly and responsive to people. Still, building is nice inside and might be a better idea to meet with Judaism people in more dedicated place.

The Tbilisi Great Synagogue is located on Jerusalem Street in a red bricks lovely building, spectacular design. As soon as I entered the building, I have met with the community chairman that told me about the history of the place and the history of the Georgian Jews. The inner building consists of 2 floors, each with a separate synagogue. The place is amazing in its beauty, saves and wounderfully maintaned. Many Non-Jewish tourists also visit the place. In my opinion, a mandatory visit place for every Jews visiting Tbilisi.

This impressive synagogue was built between 1895 and 1903 by Jews who moved to the area from Ahlzelethe in the 19th century. The synagogue was taken from the Jews by the Soviet authorities in 1923. Only at the end of the 20th century was the synagogue returned to the Jewish community of the city. To get there, you may want to take a taxi to 45-47 Leselidze Street. If you go to Friday, you are recommended to book an early meal at the Chabad House, which is accompanied by songs for Shabbat.

Great great Synagogue in the old Tbilisi! It is located, where before was a Jewish quarter. Synagogue built in 19 century and It is still so beautiful and colorful! There are two floors and second one more beautiful! If you want to visit, try to ask security in the courtyard, not always but most of the time they will aloud you to enter! I highly recommend to visit this place.

he building, also known as the Georgian Synagogue, was built from 1895 to 1903 in an eclectic style by Georgian Jews from Akhaltsikhe who migrated to Tbilisi in the late 19th century, thus the synagogue is also called the “synagogue of the people of Akhaltsikhe”. There is also a synagogue in Tbilisi built by the Jews of Tshinvali at 13 Kozhevennyi Tupik Street.

We are very sad how they welcome us. It’s the first time I cried in one sinagogue. We enter and we were not welcome, the gabay shout at us, we asked with education about the community and he left, even the tour guide told him to answer us. We are coming from so far away. We are Jewish and the sinagogue is a house Ashem and not the gabay house.

Historic place for the Sephardic Jews that used to live in Tbilisi in a greater number before the move to Israel. Would be nice to see the inside.

Very rude staff who pretended to not understand what I was asking even though we had several languages in common. I am sure it is a lovely building but was not allowed to see upstairs which looks gorgeous from the photos.

I went on a tour to Vardzia and wine reagion. Tour guide was great, very fluent on English and Russian. Everything was on time and like it was in description. Thanks to ladi

I went inside to visit and the keeper ask me money "to keep the place going". Make it official and set up a ticket system, it will look more professional.

Great Synagogue is Tbilisi's one of the most important historical sight and for Jewish people symbol of Georgia Jewish thousand years friendship history.

If you are jewish, there might be a guy that will suggest to show you another synagogue in the area. He asked for 20 laris afterwards)

Make sure you climb up the stairs and see the upper floor. A very impressive and beautiful synagogue, even if you are not Jewish
