A great place especially if you love dinosaurs. Very well maintained, neat and foreigner-friendly with a very helpful staff. A lot of species were titled with their biological names in English and not the common name. Ticket is only 30 RMB and you can find English audio guide for 20 RMB (with a 200 RMB deposit or passport / ID deposit for foreigner). There are free lockers as well but they seem to be insufficient (you can find vacant lockers if you arrive early). Almost everything is written in both Chinese and English so there's no problem in visiting without a local friend. There are also a few stores within the museum. The one in B2 felt unnecessarily expensive. There are restaurants, Ice cream bars and kiosks for drinks everywhere within the place. If you have a curious mind, you'll need almost the whole day to enjoy everything. Wechat & Alipay works everywhere here.

This is one of the most spectacular museum in Shanghai where the exhibits are housed within a 5 storey building. The entry fee is RMB 30 for adults and there are special rates for children and senior citizens. Children under 1.3m are free to enter the museum without charges. This museum is disabled and children friendly. There are ramps and elevators which fit such purpose. This museum is huge and it is best to allocate at least half a day to enjoy the exhibits. There are two restaurants and a cafe in the museum, level 2, B1 and B2M respectively. The foods served here are of moderate taste. Anyway, a good museum for the young and old.

5 levels of information starting from the big bang theory all the way to the present. Good educational information but beware as it’s quite noisy with school excursions held throughout the day. 4D theatre viewings are optional at 30 yuan per head per show. Entry fees to the musuem are 30 yuan for adults and 12 yuan for children below 1.3m. Place is closed on Mondays. There’s a big garden surrounding the musuem for photo ops. Good place to pass half a day or more if one is thinking of where and what to do with school going kids. Getting here is easy, either take a taxi which is very common and aplenty or take the “line 13” subway.

This museum has more content stuffed into a space than I have ever seen, and that's NOT an issue. Not only do they have lots and lots of dinosaur bones and recreations, but they even have one that moves! Adults cost $5 US, children under 6 are free, and $4 US for others. Whether you want too spend an hour, or make a day of it and eat at the on-site restaurant, you should feel as though you got your money's worth. Finding a cab afterwards was a little tricky, tho, so plan ahead with an app or something.

It is a natural history museum in Shanghai. It is cool, diverse and simple. There is some information that is accessible via QR code, but much of them are written in Chinese. However, you can find English translators around. The museum is huge and split across several floors. You can buy tickets online. I paid 30 Chinese Yuan. It is very very beautiful and was not crowded by the time I entered.

This museum is simply great. It is by far the best natural history museum I have seen. It has a lot of exhibits, large area, building itself is architectonically impressive and practical. It is well lighted (by both natural and artificial lighting). You can easily get there by metro. For me, it was the best museum in Shanghai. e but well-marked. Shopping possibilities are one of the best I have ever seen.

You need at least half day to visit this museum as it is quite big. The price was 30 yuan when I was there in September 2018, so it's worth every penny! They have good collections and it's suitable to visit as a family. There are explanations in English too, so no Chinese speakers (like me) shouldn't be worried. Staff were helpful too. There's a free locker downstairs if you need to keep you belonging.

This museum is amazing. Kids and adults can find interesting things to learn and look. Some alive animals and insects are kept here. Also the sculpture park is very close to city center (one of them - people square) and it worth the visit. I really suggest you to come over here. If you are in Shanghai at the end of March or beginning of April, lots of cherry blossoms can be found here.

Shanghai Natural History Museum is a great place for scholars and kids to learn about world history and history of China. Need to purchase a entrance ticket to enter to the museum. Concessional tickets rates are available for senior citizens. Few restaurants and cafes are available inside with washroom facilities for observers. The Museum crew speak English.

An amazing modern museum with many authentic exhibits that includes a roaring interactive dinosaur. One can easily get there by the Shanghai Metro. Take Metro Line 13 and get off at the Shanghai Natural History Museum stop. Leave from exit 1 and its only a 2 minutes walk to the ticket office/counter. Ticket price is CNY30 for an adult (over 18 years old).

If you are into science and technology I would greatly recommend. Really great experience and lots of detailed exhibits. There are lots of little screens around that can teach you a lot of information, such as how sonars work and how we detect different layers under the earth. I could have spent the whole day there and still not get through everything.

  • Darkspaceinvader

Wonderful natural history museum in a beautifully designed building. There's plenty of exhibits and they're all tastefully styled. Eat and drink before coming because the food and drink inside is not so great and is also a tad expensive. I'd highly recommend paying the museum a visit if you're staying in Shanghai for any length of time.

Great place. You can learn a lot of history and culture from this great museum. There is 5 stories exhibiting different historical artifacts. There is also a 4D movie theatre and more shows at the different levels which needs booking in advance. A must visit place when visiting shanghai unless you don’t like museums 详情

  • Joe Macpherson

One of the better natural history museums in China this is pretty diverse, interesting and easy to understand. Lots of information available via QR codes (mainly in Chinese) Good place for kids and familes. Ticket can be bought through wechat or onsite. Passport is needed

The building is impressive, but the exhibits are mostly underwhelming...and the stuffed animals in particular look like they would be more at home in a toy shop...though that itself was quite amusing znd memorabke for the wrong reasons. I guess we've been spoiled in the UK with our own version...

  • Liubov Voronova-Wurzinger

Museum is great. Take your time and arrive early enough to get tickets for some experience, like a fish touching and walk in a butterfly room, they have some show times as well. We came too late so we had to just rush thru. We are going there a few more times for sure.

  • Pepi To

A big musuem mostly of animals. Varying display of mammals, birds, reptiles, dinosaurs and a whole lot more. Perfect for kids. It has 3 floors so you can spend like a half day here . Very near the center of Shanghai. Also close proximity to the Starbucks reserve.

Splendid place to spend some free time with your friends and family and learn about animals and organisms. The place is kept sparkling clean. There is a discount for students if you show the receptionist your school ID.

  • Elias D S Caballero

Beautiful Shanghai 's Natural History Museum. The museum is located in Shanghai's sculpture park and will house more than 10,000 artefacts from across all seven continents in its 4.45 hectares of floor space.

  • SH Tan

30CNY ticket is very worth the price. There are many sections and categories of arts, animals Biological specimen and sciences. Spend a day over there is like learn things around the world. Thumbs up!

  • Boon Kok Lee

This place not foreigner friendly. All the shows required pre booking using WeChat and a local mobile number is required for registration. There is not visitor service counter to provide assistant.

  • Marcin Cross

Awesome dinosaur skeletons and much much more! Go there early morning on a weekday, otherwise expect to stand in 3 hours long queue. Don't forget to download museum app for argumented reality.

  • Kelvin Po

The place is huge and has a lot of wonderful things to see! However even though we went on a weekday the museum was cramped full of people. Might be because it's summertime though.

  • Jae Cloete

Such a wide array of exhibits and information. Beautifully presented. However, taxidermy seems comical (check out the lion).

As a dinosaur geek, I love visiting such museums. This one in china is not dirty at all. They also have English translations for everything I like how it is very educational

  • Christian Martin Casedo

Although the it is a chinese museum the place is full of detailed english descriptions. In addition there is a large animatronic dinosaur that looks very real.

  • Kwan

One of the enthusiastic museum, no wonder why lots of kids enjoy seeing all the exhibitions. There’s recreation park outside the museum and it’s worth a visit

  • Francis Tan

It's an impressive museum with lots of static displays and visual animations but unfortunately it doesn't have interactive exhibits for kids to engage them.

  • thuba dang

  • john natarelli

Really enjoyed the experience. I love fossils and seeing old dinosaur bones. That’s why I went, and It was perfect. And cheap!

  • Rui Brito

The best so far. New and shiny, ample and plentiful in natural light, absolutely vast and thorough, I thought it'd never end.
