This is an underground shopping mall at the Science and Technology Museum Metro stop on Line 2. Also known as Ke Ji Guan (which means roughly (science museum) in Mandarin. The place is a giant maze of tiny stores, each owned and operated by an individual merchant. You can easily and (probably will) get lost. You can find just about anything you want here if you look hard enough. Beware of the hustlers that wait at the exit of the Metro station, they will try to steer you to merchants who will overcharge you. Careful of name brand items, especially watches; they are almost invariably fake (Jiade). Prices here are rarely marked. Get ready to bargain over every dime. The bargaining is a quintessential part of the Chinese experience for Westerners. Don't be intimidated, and don't miss it! Worth going just for the experience, even if you don't actually need anything. Just pick out a scarf or a belt and let the games begin. The merchants will typically ask for at least triple what the going rate is for an item, and they fully expect you to come back with an equally outrageous offer at the low end. That's when the fun starts. There will be much hand waving and gnashing of teeth, and don't be surprised if there are tears before it's over (that's when you know a deal is imminent). Don't be afraid to simply walk away. If the merchant does not follow you at that point, you have probably gotten them down as low as they will go! In the end, you should probably expect to pay about half what you would pay for a similar item in the U.S. If you pay a little more than a Chinese person would pay for the same item, that's ok. If you are an expat living in Shanghai you can probably afford it!

A.P. Plaza. After you exit metro line 2, shanghai museum and tech, you will find it at first. I think, you should came here to feel the experience. Lots of review for this place. All the good review is right. Give your lowest price for everything they give. Dont worry, the will look angry or upset. Dont worry keep your price and put a little higher. If you are lucky, you will get the price and the goods. If they wont give you, and you walk away, they will call you again to bargain more. Just feel the experience.

Great location to pick up name brand items (knockoff)cheap. Must negotiate hard- vendors expect it. Many shops with the same items, so if you don’t like the final price move on to the next. Have fun with it. General rule you should end up paying 10 to 20% of where they start.

This is a pretty amazing place. Don't be fooled. These are ALL knock offs but some are actually really really good. There's an amazing tailor in here called AnyZ Tailors where I now order my suits and shirts. I'll use them forever as long as they are around.

Although some vendors can become aggressive always stand your ground when haggling prices! Don't be afraid to say no thanks and walk away. They all have and sell they stuff so ask them you be surprised. I recommend for the sake of language…...

Fake Market! The biggest in Shanghai! Green line gets you there. Do not get pushed around by over motivated sellers. And pay max a third of what is asked. Good fun if you enjoy, can get on your nerves too!

Good for shop, but difficult to negotiate.. Best price about 45 to 50 Rmb for t-shirts and 100 to 150 rmb jacket.. Ladies bags about 120 to 200rmb and all not original, but good.. Big place, need one day!

Must bargain wait for third or higher counter offer. Best deals had if you show you and ppl y ou know will frequent the establishments. I was very critical ... but turns out can be worth your time.

Fun place to try out your haggling skills. The majority of the stores all have the same items, so if you don't reach a price you're happy with just move on to a different store.…...

bargain hard and this is a geat place to place to pick up that designer watch or jacket you promised yourself. Just don't look too hard at the logo. Quality isn't bad though.…...

Great market. Fully air conditioned so very comfortable. Go early in the morning so it isn't busy. You must haggle hard otherwise they will rip you off. Good quality knock offs.

What you would expect from a centre that specialises in selling ripoff’s. Not easy to find and nearby tourist destinations such as the museums are not open.

  • Bruno Gomes

  • Terence Sun
