one ancient town（古镇） not far from Suzhou usually a visitor to Suzhou come here if they finished most famous sites inside the city, which means they usually have an abundant time budget but definitely this town is worth a one day excursion if you have time compared to suzhou city, this small town is more preserved as a Jiangnan Shuixiang Guzhen （江南水乡的古镇, an ancient town in Jiangnan Water town, only literal seriatim translation) here you would see apart from traditional building structures that would amaze you, very likely you will have a crush on the food here, such as 糖醋松果鱼(literal translation is squirrel fish but definitely not the case) it is better to take the boat to enjoy scenery on waterway, wont be too expensive or time-consuming. in the past actually this is the most common means of transportation in Jiangnan Water town (due to the great amount of waterways) and its convenience, definitely more impressive than the Canals map in csgo also if you are lucky enough, come on a rainly night, when there are fewest tourists, and you will really experience what is meant by Jiangnan Water town in these years the town has gone through many developments catering to tourism, which means it is not that original but i would still give it a five star, for its relative scenery compared to other places... *take note that many sites within the town will close at 5:30pm after 5:30pm you would still be allowed to stroll in the town, but may not be able to enter cerntain sites (such as some yuanlin/park and museums)

Well managed historic water town so close to major cities! This little water town is a world UNESCO site, built more than 1200 years ago, amazingly it's still in use. It's a fairly touristy resort town, but has its charm. People there seemed to be quite relaxed, no eager merchants trying hard to sell cheap souvenirs. Food was not cheap, but expected of any touristy spots in China. I was told that in maybe a year or so, there will be a subway linking Tongli to Suzhou, the nearest high speed train station, that'll make traveling to and from Tongli much easier.

Majestic scenes of traditional Chinese culture and natural scenes. Alas bombarded by cafes, inns and modernized stores. Somehow still preserving its majestic inside its museums located within the town. Non accessible via underground subway tongli station. U can still technically walk from the metro station but its a 3-4 kilometers stroll through modernized factories Admission fees is 100RMB

A tourist visit to a cultural old town of Suzhou. One could take a leisurely boat ride and see a thousand year old antic Chinese Ancient home of the wealthy and people of high status. Well preserved area and the place is kept clean and tidy!

As of Sep 2018, Google Maps still hasn't updated the new Metro line to Tongli. Instead of taking a bus to Tongli, you can take the subway line 4 to Tongli (terminal station). From there, take the public bus to Tongli Old Town.…...

Skip the shopping area in favour of the historic buildings and temples which are really the parts to visit. Don't leave until you find the building with all the root carvings in it!…...

Tuìsī Yuán（退思园）is a must visit Chinese garden in Tongli old town. This garden was recognized as an UNESCO world heritage site in 2001. Also this is my favorite Chinese garden in China.

Tongli es un precioso pequeño pueblo con canales cerca de Shanghái. Merece la pena visitarlo y dar un paseo en barca.

對古鎮非常熱愛的我，只要到大陸一定会挑個古鎮走走。同里古鎮沒很多特別景点,就是一般小橋流水。平日人不多時，還是可以來這裡散散步，喝喝咖啡，吃点小吃，還是挺悠閒的。
