I am from California. I’ve been going to a Korean spa in Korea Town in Los Angeles for a few years so—I’m in love with Korean Spas! I just moved to Korea a few days ago and this was one of the first things on my list to check off. I loved my experience here!!! I didn’t get a treatment so I can’t speak on behalf of them but my spa experience was great. When you first arrive, the location is kind of confusing cause the spa is about three stories, the top stories being for hair and then nails. So make sure you walk down the walkway through the inside parking garage and you will see the entrance or take the stairs down...I guess it just depends on what direction you are coming from. Things that will help your experience: • take your shoes off as soon as you enter! They will point you in the direction of a shoe locker. Lock up your shoes and give her the key! • the cost is 16,000 won which is like $14 US dollars / you pay beforehand! • she’ll give you a locker key, robe and two small towels • they don’t speak a lot of English so if your not use to that then get use to using hand gestures and pointing to things! Smile too. They were really, really nice and helpful. You walk to the right and can either take the elevator or walk down a few flights of stairs. Undress! Lock up your belongings and go enjoy the spa. If you aren’t use to seeing lots of naked women and being naked yourself than this experience probably isn’t for you. They have a steam room, infrared suana, two circular hot pools (one is hotter than the other), a salt water pool that’s cool and a cold pool that’s extra cold!!! Also a shallow pool that had intense jets, which I didn’t use. Make sure you rinse off inbeteeen soaks and steams. There is also a place to sleep, which is what you walk through on the way to the pools. They’ve got a place to eat too and clothes for purchase too. If you wanna bring your own shampoo, conditioner, soap, shaver, toothbrush...you can! They have it all too and I enjoyed their products. The toothbrush is for purchase. There is also a room to blow dry your hair and you can use their lotions, potions and Q-tips! Whenever there was trash laying around a worker came to clean it up! I thought it was very clean. It is a little on the small side I suppose but that didn’t bother me! It’s an all woman spa too which was neat! Enjoy :)

I was hesitant due to some older reviews but decided to give it a try since the more recent reviews were rather positive. I visited on 11 Feb 2023, and was pleasantly surprised, the receptionist lady (Jae Tong You—>I probably got her name wrong) was warm and welcoming. We were able to communicate in basic English. Facilities looked good and I made sure my locker was locked. Exit 5 of Sinsa station and walk straight down and turn left at CU convenience stall and you will see the Spa Lei (only for ladies) building. Head downstairs to B1 and place shoes in shoes locker. Exchange the shoe locker key with receptionist lady for same locker key number for clothing. As it was a Saturday night, the fee was 19K won. U will receive 2 small towels and 1 bath robe(for wearing to the hot sauna and snack bar areas). Body scrub and hot/ cold/ seawater baths are mostly on B2. There is an open air bath on Level 3 as well! Body scrub (was good and didn’t hurt!) It cost 40000k and ends up with a hair wash. Go straight to the ahjummas to book a slot; they will probably tell you to go soak in hot baths first and come back in 30 mins. I didn’t opt for B2 body massage by the ahjummas doing body scrubs. There was a sleeping room at B2 as well, and a few other hot clay rooms etc at B2 and level 3. I tried the B1 sports massage (painful, but no pain no gain, healing massage) which cost 80000k. Bring enough cash to pay for massages & tip out of your own good will. The entrance fee & snacks (charged to locker key) etc can be paid by card. I used YouTrip. Sikhye at B2 snack bar was delicious! I ended up staying from 9pm+ to 1am+. Original intention was to leave earlier to train back, but was too late so booked a kakao taxi back to myeongdong area at a reasonable price of 14300won. The spa lei jimjilbang opens 24 hrs! I would strongly recommend this place. I noticed there were other tourists of various nationalities and other guests with tattoos as well. No issues faced; at least from my experience.

Women only! I loved it. It was my first time at a jjimjjilbang and I’m caucasian skinned so maybe that’s why I didn’t experience any rudeness like some people pointed out in the comments. I paid 19.000 and got a robe and two tiny towels. I think you can stay up to 12 hours, the spa opens 24/7 and people go there to sleep and I can now totally get why! The spa has at least two floors, downstairs are the lockers, changing rooms and a big part of their pools and saunas (one is like a huge baking oven, never seen anything like it, really great but very very hot!!), a snack and drinks bar (coffee, tea, juices and the must-drink sikhye - icy cold sweet rice drink). Important: there’s a restaurant upstairs with inexpensive yummy Korean dishes like Tofu Stew or Bulgogi. You can just go upstairs and sit there in your bathrobe. I wish I’d known this earlier, I was already half starving after 4 hours in the spa but I didn’t want to leave, it was too good. You don’t need to carry any money around, everything goes on your key wristband. What I really loved (and missed in Japanese and Taiwanese onsen and spas) are the many areas where you can just cosy up on the heated ondol floors, sleep, chat, watch TV, have snacks… I can usually never nap in public but there I fell asleep on the warm floor, surrounded by bath sounds. I would go back but only with much time on my hand. Perfect for a rainy day or if you don’t know where to sleep before an early flight.

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. The women at the front desk was very rude to me and my friend when we initially came in. My friend took out the wrong amount of money and the hostess or whoever she is said “noooo” and pushed the money away. My friend hadn’t even pulled out total amount yet. She Didn’t explain anything to us just pointed to the elevator. My friend wanted to get a massage, when we walked by the massage area and JUST looked inside, a women ran out and shooed us away saying “sold out sold out!!” And closed the door on us. We only enjoyed the hot tub because everything else was crowded. We left after only an hour or less, once we returned to get our keys to leave the women at the front desk kind of through the key down at us. I’m not saying they need to cater to foreigners, but so some hospitality. Also, there needs to be some updates the place. It smells almost like mold, and is dirty in some of the areas. Do yourself a favor and AVOID this “spa”. I usually don’t say this but I would avoid especially if you’re (melanin) my friend I both felt they were racist at the spa

Jimjilbang is a MUST GO!!! I speak English and only had credit card. Didn't have a reservation. It went fairly well.. • Reception was kind and used translator app. When you enter the spa, there's no English menus so you have to point and hope for the best. • entry is 16000w paid with card • bring moisturizer. • head straight to buy sikhye (rice slush), drinking it while in the onsen is the best feeling. Your order is recorded in your card key. No need to pay at once. • there is body scrub available near the onsen. I got scrub + aroma massage which cost 100,000. the massage was done while being frequently wrapped in hot steaming towels, like you're a rice roll, interesting feeling! The fragrance of camphorous lavender and the milk bath at the end makes it so relaxing. They do this while giving you a real cucumber mask . • I was supposed to pay the body scrub ahjumma in cash but I didn't bring any... Luckily the spa let me advance it with card.

So, I was hesitant to go to this facility based on other reviews. I don't condone prejudice and something I've struggled with being half Korean. However, I'm glad I went. You will mostly have to figure out how things work unless you find someone as wonderful as jozaworld (ig) who helped me to get oriented to the spa. She is a medium complected African American who does professional tours. She immediately put me at ease and told me how wonderful it was. I cannot say whether she has ever had a scrub done. Later on I saw a young girl who was dark complected wandering around with her friend and nobody treating her differently. Again unsure if she got a scrub. As a plus sized woman with tattoos, I had no issues with getting a scrub. I also understand Korean well enough to know they weren't talking negatively about me or any other customers. I do recommend this place in the end.

The entrance is located in the Carpark. Not very well maintained. Mainly self-service. This place for ladies only. The bath area is quite horrible. Many people choped the bath area with their personal belonging (basket of toiletries). Some bath area chairs are quite shocking as there are the dirts or skins scrubbed and left over on the seats. Some soap even have the hairs. There is a scrub area with bed near the bath area (B2). Body scrub (20min- 40,000won) by the staff is very good! It is very rough scrub but after that you will feel very clean and smooth. The scrub consists of face, body and hair wash. After scrub, you will need to pay the staff by cash. They also provide body massage with scrub for 100,000 won. Basic sauna and steam are included in the 19,000 won. There are some other treatments provided at additional costs. Feel free to try if you do not mind the cleanliness.

  • Jasmine Kerestesi

I arrived, paid 14,000 won for the bathhouse with cash and received my locker key. After being in one of the pools for less than 10 minutes a worker started speaking to me in Korean and ask me to get out of the pool and go upstairs to the front desk. This was very embarrassing and in front of several people. I walked upstairs in my robe, the front desk woman kept telling me I needed to pay in advance (with a cellphone translator app), I kept saying in english that I paid her a short time ago. She just kept saying sorry and that she needed money. I told her that I would go downstairs get my clothes and leave because I already paid. When I returned upstairs I asked for my money back and they gave it to me with no problem. As a Black woman who's lived in Korea for over a year, It didn't feel coincidental that I was given refund and asked to leave but not welcomed to stay.

I came here and it was so good, I came back again on my next Seoul trip. The ladies scrub you so good you end up silky smooth after. For those who don’t speak Korean (neither do I) what you do is when you walk in you pay the receptionist for entry and grab a key for your shoe locker. Pop your shoes in. Receptionist will give you a waterproof key for your clothes locker downstairs (jump in the elevator and go down…). Go to your locker number and change into your robe. Then walk past a couple of resting rooms into the spa room. Head on over to the room at the back where there are tables and ladies scrubbing in their underwear. Ask if anyone is free and they will tell you their availability. Pay for the scrub in CASH ONLY. It’s about 40-50,000 won. If they’re not ready for you yet you can sit in the hot and cold pools in the spa room until they’re ready. Hope that helps!

  • Joanne Lay

The admission price increased to 19k per entrance. The facility is good, but be careful of scammers. The locker here is unsafe and you can lose cash if you put your cash in locker inside Spa area where there is no security camera. Just a kind advice to foreigners, never ever give your key to a stranger eventhough your locker is empty because the expenses are recorded in the key. There was a plastic surgery faced girl who tried to persuade me to lend her my key by being friendly and saying her key doesn't work. Even though she gives you cash do not accept because she will make crazy expenses much more than the cash she gives you. This place is unfriendly to foreigners because I saw one old lady scolded other foreigner for nothing. And everything is written in Korean, and the employees there don't speak English at all.

  • marion

One of the worst experience ever in Seoul. I’ve been to different types of Spa in Korea but this one unfortunately was bad. The lady at the counter was very rude (and I was speaking to her in Korean to make it easier), she wasn’t welcoming at all, yelling at me and throwing the locker key at me. Then I finally get to the sauna and it got even worse … one lady working there told me to put my mask on (in the 80 degrees sauna where no one else was required to put the mask except me) and she was yelling “Corona”. Anyways I put my mask on, didn’t want to make a fuss but I felt that foreigners (with some melanin) weren’t welcomed here. It looked like she was following me everywhere to make sure I keep my mask on (which I did) & I couldn’t relax at all so I just left. I hope they become nicer to foreigners in the future…

If you are female, have 16000 won and few hours to spare do yourself a favour and pop over. After a long flight your body will thank you. As you come in take your shoes off and place them on the left handside lockers, give the key to the lady at the desk area and the 16000 won she will give you a key for the locker room that it is in the second floor!! And a cotton robe and 2 small towels, said towels you will use either for your hair whilist being around or to cover places you will sit down. Please be naked on water features and put the robe for any other places like saunas. Do not forget to shower first before entering!! Gell and shampoo are provided I recommend to bring your own towel to use after you are done to get fully dry as your small towels will be most likely wet or sweaty. Enjoy!!

Experience of a white-passing foreigner-- no problems with rude treatment or getting in (they spoke to me in English which was nice) but they did charge me slightly extra-- I think the standard fee is 16,000 and I paid 18,000. I'm more than happy to pay 2,000 extra if it means I know I'm welcome/they'll deal with my terrible Korean lol. Spa itself is nice too, lots of add-ons and nice massage chairs (for 4,000/15 mins.) Bring your own hair ties and curlers if needed but they have towels and blow dryers. Clean and even though almost all shoe lockers were taken it doesn't feel too crowded. FYI restaurant was closed the day/time I came, and the sea-water bath is under maintenance. Still plenty of bathing options.

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE A FOREIGNER OR BLACK. This was a bad experience. Im not the type of person to assume prejudice intent but this place is NOT foreigner friendly. The counter lady was rude and impatient, the other staff that I encountered was dismissive and treated me differently than their Korean customers. I was even denied certain services that the other customers clearly had access to. I'm not sure if they are anti -foreigner or anti- black specifically but either way I would rather them have a sign that says "no-foreigners allowed" than for them to take my money and than treat me like I shouldn't be there. Very unwelcoming experience. I wish I had read previous reviews from other black foreigners before I spent money with them.

  • Alison Thompson

I wanted the Korean spa experience but wasn’t sure what to expect. I paid for the day spa entrance and the scrub (jjimjilbang), the total was right around $45 USD. An unbelievable price for a spa with probably 10-15 different hot/warm/cold pools, relaxing rooms, cafe, etc. My skin was glowing when I left, would highly recommend. There was very little English communication so be prepared to just kind of watch what everybody else is doing and follow suit. The staff won’t win any awards for friendliness but it is still well worth a visit. Wish we had these places in the US.

  • K. Ng

No frills classic Korean spa experience. Pay the entrance fee for access to the spa facility. Pay separately for body scrub and massages and you book and pay for those by walking up to each section. No reservations needed or taken. B2 level is where you go to book and get body scrubs. The Korean ladies will put you on the white board schedule. They also do massages during the body scrub but those aren't very relaxing and can be on the rough side. If you want a more relaxing massage, book on L1 or L2 levels where there are regular and sports massages.

  • megan hong

I found your spa to be unpleasant. First of all, there was a foul smell near the back of the locker room. There was a fan and air purifiers but clearly it wasn’t enough. The layout was such that each room was on different floors which made it a bit cumbersome. In the shower room, sitting area to exfoliate, every spot was taken and the ladies had their stuff sprawled out at each station even though it wasn’t being used. Same for the public seating area, people had their stuff all sprawled out so there was no space.

I was so relaxed there. So good and clean place, wet sauna, dry sauna, even sea water pool. I spend there 6 hours!!! Also I tried body scrub. Omg! I didn’t expect it would be soooo good feeling. I think that woman just take out all dirt from my body for whole my life! My body even sounded like clean dish. But I got a little abrasion on my body because I guess my skin more delicate, probably woman who did scrub was very harsh. I think it is okay for Korean body, not for mine. Anyway I’m glad I visited this place.

  • Jessica

A place to flee. Not only was the Thai massage not pleasant for me or my friends, but on top of that, the woman at the front desk tried, in an extremely dishonest but also and especially extremely aggressive way, to make us pay more than what the masseuse had initially sold us (70,000 W vs 50,000). She also made fun of us in Korean by trying to get the other Korean clients on her side and we had to wait 45 minutes before finally getting our way. Beware of this scam, which obviously affects more tourists.

  • Julie Diaz

Amazing and relaxing spa experience, entrance was about 16,000 w and I paid 100,000 w for a body scrub with oil. I also spent 5,000 w for the rice drink (must try) The scrubbers prefer to pay be paid in cash after they’re done. I didn’t mind because she did a lot. They scrub you on all your sides and then wash you and put a grated cucumber mask on your face. Then commence to do the oil massage and even washed my hair for me. I will definitely try to come to Seoul again just to come to this spa.

  • Aysia Touchett

Absolutely loved this spa during my time in Seoul! it was a nice way to bond with others and just enjoy a relaxing day. Hope they one day consider expanding to other places! I would love to visit again one day. *If your Korean is not great or you don’t know it at all I would suggest using Papago so you can get quick translations. My Korean is not the best, like talking to a child, but the lady at the desk was very patient and spoke enough English that we were able to understand each other.

  • Teresa Ng

Staffs speak a little bit of English so that's good. The spa is women-only, pretty clean. I went there on a Sunday, admission was 14,000 won per person and massage was 30,000 won for 30 mintues. You can stay up to 12 hours, each additional hour is 1000 won. Sauna and spa close at midnight and reopen at 2pm, of course you can spend a night there, they have floor mattresses and blankets. Perfect backpackers! Not necessary but I recommend bringing a toothbrush, clean underwear, and shampoo!

  • Shen Ling C

Too crowded for a small space and the locals tend to occupy the shared area with their belongings and left unattended to reserve it. Was being chased off by the local, she repeated “Mine, mine, mine” and spoke in Korean with hand sign that bath/space belong to her. To be fair, I paid the entrance fee to enjoy the common area too! The overall experience at Spa Lei didn’t beat my experience at Busan. If you are going to Busan, don’t come here.

  • Ana Maier

If you are not comfortable being naked around others then this is NOT for you. If you don’t care, then you’ll LOVE this place. It’s open 24/7 but the extra services like massage, facial, nails etc close at 10pm. There are 3 floors of very relaxing saunas, hot tubs, meditation rooms, hot rooms etc etc for you to explore. J was there for 5 hours and it flew by. You can even spend the night.

For budget travellers and want to have a good scrub down and if you're female, this is the place to be. 14K won for the first 12 hours no matter the time. Body immediately feels relaxed. Staff doesn't speak much English but are helpful, especially the front desk. Best to read up about what to do first before entering if you're a first timer. Probably not a good place to sleep if you're not used to sleeping in a crowd on the floor.

  • Trish Downing

This was a phenomenal experience! This was my first time at a spa like this. Got the body scrub, sports massage, and enjoyed sauna and baths. Spent just about 6 hours relaxing and pampering myself in this women’s only spa. Highly recommend! There were some challenges due to being foreigners and not speaking the language, but that was mostly negated with a translate app.

  • Azjargal Gankhuyag

It’s okay place if you are into spa/onsen. Indoor bath is okay and had steam sauna which i liked. It’s not super clean like you expect in Japan but it is okay, got to know you can sleepover there but personally I won’t prefer that. Entrance fee was 20k won. Food was okay too. 12k won for set seaweed soup.

Called them about getting a body massage, they said yes, for us to come right in. We were in the middle of asking if we need a reservation when they hung up on us. We went to the location only for them to turn us away, they then told us we require a reservation. If we require a reservation, shouldn't they have said it immediately when we called to ask?

  • Katie Thompson

Don’t waste your time. I went through the door and was immediately turned away. The woman at the counter just shouted “No! Corona!” while three other (Korean) women walked past me. I stood there for a moment surprised and the two woman at the counter just laughed at me. Glad to see they can use corona to justify their racist BS.

  • Thip R

I love Korean spa. I have it done once a month in San Francisco where I live. When I visited Seoul, I didn't want to miss a chance to try the real deal. Turned out the one I usually have in the U.S. is better. However, the overall experience was great. I like it.

This is a female only jimjilbang. So you will see people naked/half naked even at commons area. The reception that check us in was friendly and nice, she even gave us an extra towel. Generally clean spa with everything that you need provided there. The korean scrub is definitely a must to do when you are here.

  • junice wong

Had a good experience here despite not knowing Korean. Cleanliness is decent. Spent about 3 hours here using the pools/sauna and getting the body scrub which costs 40k won (you have to pay the scrubbers in person with cash). The menus inside are all in korean and it is difficult to use your phone to translate.

  • DJ

Large 3 floor public bath. Lots of different types of pools and saunas. The outdoor one was my favourite. I got the body scrub but the area where it’s done wasn’t as clean as I’d hoped. Not as nice as the public baths I went to in Japan but still a good facility.

  • Emily

Wow I love Spa Lei 16,000 won to enter which includes towels and a robe, a locker, and access to the downstairs bathing/spa/sauna rooms and upstairs clay/charcoal sauna rooms. And it’s womens only! They were so friendly to us as foreigners with tattoos

  • Karen Watson

The spa was very clean. Nice staff. They don't speak much English but help show you around and how to use the baths. The body scrub and massage were amazing. It was also nice that only women could use the spa.

Please note that men are not allowed in this women’s only spa. My wife and I were turned away by a receptionist shouting “no men, no men”; the receptionist could have been more polite and helpful in sharing that there is a men’s only spa in the hotel next door.

A day of pampering. I left with skin as soft as a baby and a very relaxed mind. The spa was very local and authentic. I especially loved the dry sauna. The women came and went to meditate quietly. Everyone was friendly but also busy with her own peaceful day.

No frills authentic Korean spa. No need for appointments, cash only for massages. Very nice folks. Massages are on the harder side, those who are more sensitive may want to skip them. Very limited English, bring your Google translate, free Wi-Fi on premise.

It's a Must go place in Seoul. The price is just right, urban oasis themed spa you can relax after long hours of shopping! It's very close to garosu gil so it's very convenient. Love the fact that they are open 24 hrs!

A little dirty :/ My skin was really itchy after The common area was a bit cold The outdoor tub on the top floor was slimy I wouldn’t go there Not a bad option for Korean standards still looking for a better one

Amazing ! Super clean and calm. You can even sleep in an area. There is sauna, hammam, and different bath with different temperatures and minerals. No limit of time and it's only 16 000 won ! I said yes baby!

Clean and beautiful spa with lots of great free features and a reasonable 16.000 entry fee for 12 hours. Food at the restaurant inside the spa is much better than any other jjimjilbang fare. Highly recommend

  • Danielle Schwartz

I highly recommend this spa. Amazing pools, sauna and steam room, an infrared light room, a red clay and charcoal room. The staff was helpful and friendly. As a foreigner I felt welcomed and comfortable.

Awful experience. Travelled 40 mins to get to the spa to be angrily rejected. No information on their website that it's only for women.

  • Gabriella Galvez-Cui

Best experience. Reserve 2-3 hours esp if you want to try all the services! Don't skip the body scrub it'll change your life.

  • Clare S

Sauna only for women. The foods are good. Massages also good. I reccomend a cup of sik-hye(식혜) after bulgama(불가마).

  • Terry Wood

Absolutely magical place. Safe, welcoming. I would even come here for a whole day.

  • Shi-Young Lee

  • Sarah Shewey

Clean, high end jjimjilbang - three floors just for women! The scrub was amazing!!! Food was solid too ✌️

  • YJ chi

  • Cheein Kim

  • Sun sun

  • spring Unje

  • D engel.
