How can a company claim to care about your health and fitness but not take any interest in the well being and lives of their customers? I am truly disgusted by the business ethnics of 24 hour fitness. They are taking advantage of people during this pandemic. In a time where we need to be looking out for each other and caring for one another, 24 hour fitness has revealed it’s only motives are profit driven and has shown its self for the greedy corporation it is. I signed up with the Santa Teresa location just before the pandemic in March, and I was told I was signing up for a no contract, month to month, $24.00 a month membership. However I was only able to use the gym a few times before they shut down with no notice due to COVID. The lack of communication from the company is disappointing, from when they closed to when they re-opened. I called the Santa Teresa location this morning when I realized I had an assortment of charges from 24 hour gym, all for different amounts and at different times of the month. Fitness manager Paul answered the phone and looked up my account to help determine what was going on. Paul could not effectively explain why the amount charged had been so inconsistent. He could only explain that I would have had to freeze or cancel my account prior and that when the gym opened it automatically resumed the billing cycle. Based off of what Paul told me, the gym closed suddenly a few months, opened for a very short amount of time, closed again and only now are they re opening. Capitalizing of the confusion of these rapid changes during the pandemic is Unethical. When I inquired further about a refund and told Paul I felt like the company had taken advantage of this situation, Paul’s replay was “I don’t see it that way” and continued to inform me that there was nothing that could be done. Even when I asked for the corporate number he insisted that corporate would feel the same way. Paul’s customer service was extremely offensive. 24 hour gym has made various withdrawals from my account, and since I haven’t even used their gym for an entire year, the least they could do is provide competent staff and quality customer service. Paul should not be a manager or work within the customer service industry. It’s a shame to have people who care so little about their job and that have such disregard for other people. It’s unfortunate that Paul represents 24 hour fitnesses this way. Amidst this global pandemic, where many people were laid off, many are stressed due to these rapid and ongoing changes, where many have shifted their focus to the health of themselves and their family and away from the normal day to day things and when the gym might be the last thing on people’s minds... I certainly hope that 24 hour fitness does not support the mindset of Paul at the Santa Teresa location. Please replace Paul with someone more qualified for that position and consider a more effective way of doing business during these uncertain times. The charge I received today from the gym was in the amount of $44.70, which is different from the $24.00 I was told I would be paying a month, and different from the $36.70 that Paul said was on file. From what I recall from the few times I had been to the Santa Teresa location is that the gym was filthy, bathrooms smelled disgusting, weights un racked and scattered on the floor but not a single employee cleaning or keeping the gym presentable or sanitary. This particular gym was not open 24 hours before the pandemic and offers even less amenities now. No one in their right mind would pay that much monthly for a gym membership, especially a gym of such low quality. It’s outrageous that a company would charge as much, or more, than they were previously, while offering less services, and all under the guise of the COVID pandemic.

I've been going to this 24 hour for about 3 months, 4-5 times a week (Hillsdale for a year or so and it was a way better experience). I have been greeted once at the front... once. Double that amount on the way out. I've only had to wait once on a treadmill, and only for a couple minutes. Funny, there is some 5 o'clock, kinda, cross fit class. The instructor will walk up and down the cardio rows to get people in her class. I tell you know lies when I say she has walked right by my treadmill without inviting me... At lease half a dozen times. Even asked people on either side of me. Weird... I must really look like I'm in some kinda zone. :-) I swim A LOT. I came from Hillsdale which also has it's creepy hang out, old dudes, but at least it's cleaner and well lit. Hangin around, in and out of the steam and sauna just hoping to spy any female in a bathing suit. Poorly lit, no lap clock (which I asked about, 3+ months ago) and people leave the accessories (kick boards, noodles, etc.) they use all over. Everywhere except the rack from whence they came. I get a little discount as a Veteran and it's cheaper, just to swim, than any other pools in the area. Otherwise, I would never give these guys my dough.

This is by far the worst 24 I have worked out at. The place is filthy and smells musty. Not because people are sweaty but because the gym employees do not clean the facility. Their solution is to walk around spraying a febreeze can to cover the scent. I've watched it happen. There is literally a 1/2 inch of dust on all the pipes in the facility. They must not know what a swiffer duster is... Beside the cleanliness I gave this gym 1 star because the faculty is a click of their own. They do not greet or acknowledge anybody that walks in the gym. Even though the employee job description states as a responsiblity to greet members the staff stands around in a huttle and stares at the members when we enter. The stare is as if we, the members, don't belong here. I have personally expressed my concerns and the way I feel to the manager. However, things don't seem to be changing at any rate. I challenge corporate to visit this gym and see how they feel about the way it is being operated.

I told the manager I'd write a review 6 months ago so this is very overdue. I bought a Costco deal and they set me up in gym straight away, no upsell hassles. A lot of workout machines and have never waited for cardio. The pool just got redone, jacuzzi is great and they have a steam room. I don't play basketball but they have courts for that plus the regular classes. The place is kept clean, other guests are all ages and its not uncomfortable experience if you're just starting out or going all the time. The locker room is clean, bring your own lock, showers are ok. They don't have the cardio machines with the personal tv but they do have several TVs in front of the machines with different channels. One nice thing is instead of a membership card, they use fingerprint which makes for one less card to lose (maybe you can have a card instead, I didn't ask). I was surprised how cool, well equipped, relaxed and friendly this place is, glad I joined.

Unfortunately, the customer service has never failed to disappoint us. My wife wanted to register in the morning at San Mateo branch and the person responsible for registration has not been available (Listen: this is how they make the first impression) so the front desk suggested paying $25 for daily workout and and she mentioned that this is going to be refunded if you register by end of the day. We did registration by end of the day and we have not been able to get a refund after almost two months. Every time they give us a excuse. We have tried on the phone, they don't do this and say you have to come here. We have gone to different branches multiple times and they have referred us to the same branch we have paid (they make money out of all the country, but when you want a refund, you just can make it in one branch).

This place is a rip off. They resumed their services and the only way I found out was through two sets of charges on my card. One was $39.99, and a day later another for $12.94. I didn't receive any emails, mail or any sort of notification that services will be starting again. I stopped by the gym today, and customer service was below subpar, and when I inquired about the double charge, I was told there is nothing that can be done, and there is a $11 credit towards my account which I haven't seen but instead a charge for $12.94. I asked how can I get that refunded, very hesitantly I was told to go through the webpage and fill out a form under contact us page with lack of very specific instructions on how to go about filling this form. At this point I cancelled my membership and filled out the form.

Too crowded and hard to find available workout machines. All the rest rooms are nasty and whole places smell bad . Plus Hot tub , jacuzzi , steam room and hot sauna . The members are not respected to the other members. They dyed hairs wearing hair cap to the jacuzzi and wearing shoes in steam room, sauna room. Their folks at the front desk don’t seem to care much about keeping the facility clean and don’t see them to come often to check out people wearing shoes in the steam room and sauna . Today I saw chewing gum on the bench in hot sauna.

This gym needs more staff to clean equipment, floors, men's locker/bathrooms, showers - the facility is unsatisfactorily dirty - I'll add pictures next time - but witnessed (on several occasions) dirty equipment, trash on men's locker room floors, empty paper towel dispensers and cleaning bottles. The facility should have cleaning staff on site making rounds throughout each 24-hr period to clean and restock cleaning supplies. I - and I'm sure many others - don't want to work out in a dirty gym.

  • Derek Jordan

Overall good place to workout. Not enough 5lb and 10lb weights in the free weight area. People always having to take from eachother. Some treadmills are damaged. Some other equipment in sub-par condition as well. Thermometer in sauna has been broken for at least 6 months, would be nice to know how hot it is. At the right times/days, when it's not too busy, it's great. But it can get pretty crowded and put a damper on your routines.

  • Brian J

Friendly staff. Needs more monitoring in the wet area. I am disappointed in that that a lot of the people use this as a meeting area and consider it a spa. The pool is often used just for that.Let the swimmers use the the two lanes for just that. Swimming!! The other lane be used just for exercise. This means that all that want to use floating devices stay out of the swimming lanes. It is a gym where people like me want to swim.

  • Ken Dousa

Great basketball court, has full barrage of cardio and resistance equipment, along with aerobics room, steam room and sauna. Only drawback would be a lacking decline bench press. Manager Justin was kind enough to entertain a special request for one. Whether it comes in right away by some miracle or not, I'll still visit this gym regularly for all the things they do have. And turn this 4 star rating into a 5! Haha

  • Drea Rose Realtor

The zumba class on Sundays at 11am is awesome BUT the problem is the front desk people and their stupid system. First of all, you need to reserve 2 days before for a chance to join the class, then you need show up 1.5 hours before class to get a dumb pass with a decent number to get a decent spot in the class. The front old blonde associate is so rude and she makes me not want to come this club anymore.

  • Naj Qazi

It's always super crowded and hard to find available workout machines. Plus the restrooms are nasty and the whole place smells bad. Their folks at the front desk don't seem to care much about keeping the facility clean. I go there, unfortunately, because that's the closest 24 Hour Fitness facility for me plus I bought a 2 year prepaid subscription. If I had a choice I would go elsewhere in a Heartbeat.

  • Josh lawson

An average gym. Has many treadmills, a small pool and a basketball court. Sometimes the machines are a little dirty and the weights are out of order. If you want somewhere to work out for a cheap price, this is the place to go. Also has a small store where you can buy workout clothing and nutrition bars. People are very nice and will help you with any problems you have. Edit: Gym not as cheap anymore

  • Mar Duran

24 hour fitness is the worst place when you want to cancel. I cancelled in person my membership in November. I moved out of town and switch banks, now they said I never cancelled and are trying to charge me for 6 months and year membership etc. I called corporate office to cancel again, since my work wouldn't allow me to go in person and still got 2 more charges on my card. No wonder the get sued!!

  • Rosa F

The locker rooms are always dirty, there's no papertowels. Be careful parking your car there. My car was broken into just barely 3 weeks into going there ..unbelievable. .. eventhough there's lots of cars and people parked outside no one noticed or heard the loud noise of a breaking glass..I've never had this happen before anywhere I have been to. Your car isn't safe there.

  • S D

Staff is rude. Beware of the big latino looking trainer, he kicked me off the fly machine so that he and his client can have a nice spot to chat. The people in the front desk rarely ever even acknowledge you as you come in the gym. Weightlifting area is ALWAYS messy and none of the staff ever clean up. Its hard to believe that we are paying for these guy's wages monthly.

  • Tri Do

It used to be clean. It is so filthy now. If you swim there during the rainy day, you are in for a treat because there is water coming down from the moldy ceiling. Oh...Watch out for thiefs!!! I witnessed a guy almost got away with someone's belonging. The thief tried to attack the victim. Fortunately, a good Samaritan stopped him in time.

  • Flora Pireh

POOL AND ALL POOL AREA ARE DIRTY. SORY NO STAR THER IS NO SIGN ASK PEOPLE HOW KEEP CLEAN AREA, NO BODY USE SWIMMING HAT WATER IS FULL OF HAIR. SOME PEOPLE SWIM WITH THEIR CLOTHS,DONT TAKE SHOWER BEFOR SWIM.COME OUT FROME SOUNA NO SHOWER JOMPT IN THE POOL I HAVE TO MUCH TO WRIT, PL SPEND TIME AND TRY TO MAKE CLEAN POOL AREA. THANK YOU

  • ChiQuest Fitness

Friendly staff. Good place to work out. Great Kids Klub staff! It would be great if the treadmills were connected to the TV's so we could connect our ear buds and get volume and if the bathroom maintenance could be at a consistent time each day such in the middle of the night rather than higher usage times in evenings. Thank you

  • Dan Meyer

I just witnessed the group exercise trainer use the restroom and walk out without washing this morning. The men's room is already gross...now we have the staff spreading it to the equipment. The fire alarm went off this morning and we all had to stand outside for 30m until the fire department cleared it. Workout interrupted.

  • Michael Anthony

Everyone was so friendly.. not even gonna cap this beyond gorgeous woman kept looking at me, I was so nervous as this was my 1st time workin out since high school. I couldn't lift much but this woman carrying her backpack around was double lifting what I was. But she gave me a sense of comfortability.. also very clean

  • Reinaldo Quiroz

This place has bad customer service advisers, they don't even know the information they give, they don't give clear information about prices, take good care of worrying that the customer is very important to you, without customers there is no work, please improve it is a criticize so that they have it present

  • Chris Mascarina

Been to multiple 24 fitness but this location needs a lot of attention. Some workout machine cables, treadmills, and bikes, have issues. Floors are beat up and dirty. Showers at the pool side are broken. Sauna smells like mold. I am posting this not to say negative stuff because I love going to the gym.

  • Sean Powell

There needs to be a system for reporting bad gym etiquette. Every time I'm in here, I see multiple people with 2 or 3 sets of dumbells, sitting on a wire machine, with their bags on a separate bench. There needs to be employees that are responsible for making sure weights are put back in place.

  • Cristina Darrow

My goto gym only because of its location, but has gone down in service since reopen after COVID restrictions were lifted. The cycle room is filthy - the floors don’t appear to be cleaned at all. I’ve cleaned up dead cockroaches and have used the disinfectant cleaner to wipe areas of the floor.

  • Manuel Cabello

This 24 is always too packed during the afternoon so be aware of having to wait for what you might need. There is a pool and basketball court. Classes for all sorts of gym activities. The staff and personal trainers are very helpful with reaching your goals but a bit too pricey for my taste.

  • Alyss

Cancelled my membership because the gym is so dirty. It's like it hasn't been cleaned in years. The equipment is also very beat up. I wish they could clean it up and/or remodel. Its unfortunate because its walking distance from my house and it would be super convenient to go there.

  • deborah martinucci

Most people are not bringing in a towel to wipe down equipment after themselves, but some continue to wear masks.Heh we just opened up after a pandemic have some common sense and practice good hygiene. If I go back I'm bringing bleach wipes to clean before and after myself.

  • Aj Myers

Absolutely the wose place to get help from. Today i got my wallet stolen and had over $550 in my wallet when i asked if the camers worked she said we cant access them so now im broke and got no cash no help and the guy or gal escape with $550 this place is untrustworthy

  • brandon withab

They raised the price the past few months, yet they still have all these problems. Machines older than me and they break down often. So why the hell did you raise our monthly costs for a gym that doesn’t upgrade their equipment. Doesnt make a lick of sense.

  • William Giovinazzo

Filthy, absolutely the most disgusting gym I have ever visited. The floors in the locker rooms look like they have never seen a mop. After I made the mistake of showering there I went home and took another shower just to be safe. Absolute pig sty

  • Nick Swenson

It's an average gym. They got what you need. Sometimes it's a bit crowded. Some of the machines are as old as the place itself, some are quite a bit newer, but all are mostly maintained. It's not particularly clean. It's also not that expensive.

  • alex sfcat

Overpacked gym. Only 2 bench press and 2 squat racks you’ll be lucky to walk in and have one available but i screwed up and bought 2 year pre paid membership without knowing it was like this. Don’t make the mistake I made get a different gym

  • Chris verBurg

Props on surviving the pandemic, but this place has really questionable music. Are all these poor schlubs trying to find the energy to finish their cardio routines? Let's play downtempo ballads with someone mumbling aharmonically into a

  • Cisco L

I've been working out here ever since it first opened it's doors many years ago. They still have the same equipment with a few new additions. The showers are filthy and old. The only reason I still work out here is convenience!

  • Robert Hofer

I've been to dozens of 24 Hours in the U.S. This is one of the worst. Very worn out equipment and questionable cleanliness. It smells like a high school gym. 24 Hour should make enough profit to upkeep this facility better.

  • Dani S

Really old and beat down. The bathroom doors don't close and some don't open because the door hinge is rusted and stuck. The locker rooms are disgusting and smells bad. The workout machines are old and breaks often.

  • Niamatullah Aslami

I am a current member and I go to this branch of it. This branch has a really unorganized management. People do deadlift and they are so loud that it gets really annoying. It's hours of deadlift not just few min.

  • Debby L

They seriously need to get rid of half of the elliptical machines and significantly increase the number of treadmills. So often all the treadmills are used. Yet a vast majority of the ellipticals are never used.

  • lIN R

Great gym, I love working out here. I gave it 4 stars because of the limited squat rack and machines that this gym has. However, there are tons of dumbbells that you can use to substitute for limited machines.

  • Kye An

Steam sauna has been stopped for longer than a month now. They never promise when it will run again. Shower room is dirty. Someone says manger hire his family running maintenance. That’s why.

  • Teeks

I usually only go to the Super Spotty clubs but this one isn't bad for a Sport club. Lifting platforms are typically available, no long lines for the equipments. Usually not very crowded.

  • Anthony Albert

They are starting to drop money into the club. The entire place could use a refresh however they have a great crew working trying to keep the matches in place while maintaining a club.

  • Reggie Dolack

Old machines They don't have an actual workout room for classes so you can hear the trainer yelling and being loud for the classes that are going on which is quite annoying. …

  • E A

If your a person that wants to lift and wait for equipment to be open for you then head over to this gym. The place is small, old equipment, packed most of the time and a bit pricey.

  • Andrea Dawson

I’ve been going here on and off for years.. solely based on location and proximity.. WHEN will they clean properly? It’s down right nasty. Bring a towel to sit on in the sauna

  • Daniel Kionka

I usually go to the 24 Hour on Santa Teresa, and over there the machines are kept in better shape. Specifically I had trouble with the rowing machine and the seated leg curl.

  • Señor Jesse

Pretty good, plenty of equipment to use and usually not too crowded! Only complaint would be that the locker rooms are closed pretty often for some sort of maintenance.

  • Manju Shukla

lot of Ldies coming just for long shower and sauna, whole on wall work out area not good maintenance ,very good intructer for yoga and body pump, over all not bad

  • Rebekah Rosado

What a great experience I had at 24 today! Anthony was beyond helpful and the rest of the guys were great too. Can't wait to continue my fitness journey here

  • poopiehead

This gym is way better than the one on Hillsdale. I can't believe people complain about it. I wish their locations were reversed so I could visit this one.

  • Simranjit Singh

They have plenty of equipment for cardio but less equipment for normal bodybuilding workout like only two squat rack and nothing for shoulder presses.

  • David Reddie

Friendly staff. Clean facility. I normally go when they open at 5am when it isn't packed. Can't wait till they go back to being open 24 hours!

  • Sticky Creationz

Can I pay monthly for a monthly membership with cash only? Or are they wanting that credit card number? This info is not on their website.

  • kassim Kadiro

The crunch machine for tummy is not working for many days. Please report to it to the mamanagement. Most of us are here for tummy problem

  • M L

Love this place. Way less crowded than other locations . Same quality equipment. Wet area and basket make i it perfect spot

  • Kavi Anand

Decent place. You can't go wrong with the hours but the free weight area is a bit small compared to the size of the gym.

  • S M

I stopped going to this location and drive all the way to the 24 hour fitness in Sunnyvale. This place is a dumpster.

  • Faith Personal Training and Hypnotherapy

Clean and well equipped! I had Johnny and Casey and Anthony helping me today. Very nice and caring folks.

  • Kevin Cho

The basketball court is not so well-maintained. Workers are good. Typical 24 hour fitness super sport.

  • Russ

This place needs a face lift and better janitorial services. The bath and locker rooms are disgusting.

  • Alex Lay

I come to this 24 hour fitness often. It's in south san jose and located in a quieter part of town.

  • Jay

Joined the other day, and it's great! Has all the equipment I need to get back into shape. :)

  • Steve Pendleton

The locker room is a dump, and the drinking fountains are a disaster, but the gym is ok.

  • Ariel Magalhaes

Customer service was rude. And they’ll charge you even after you froze your membership.

  • Adrian N

Pros: two half racks with platforms & bumper plates. Cons: any & everything else.

  • Jim C

24 Hour...great service...all the machines you could want for weight or cardio

  • Tin Nguyen

The facility is decent clean. I’ll try to come in at least 3 times a week.

  • Peter Rodil

Cleanliness is below average. Sauna is the main reason why I'm a member.

  • A T

Great customer service , very professional employees, love this place :)

  • Dustin Clark

Clean and the guy at the Front Desk named Steve is one of the best.

  • Ricky Contreras

Typical gym. The locker room was a little smelly when I went.

  • Charry Wu

Southernmost 24 hour gym in bay area. It's okay I guess

  • Guest

Nice gym, plenty of cardio machine and plenty of weight.

  • Macgyver Sharon

Ghetto, old, run-down. Employees are very nice though.
