It used to be the place I'd advise people who didn't know leicester that was worth visiting... years ago leicester wasn't great for a night out but 45 west is good, etc... tonight, it's awful. Busy early, that's fine, that's good, but what was once (including the last time I came here) a cocktail place with a gin bent, so capable of crafting great cocktails, is now a mass cater bar, plain, simple, not interesting, not clever, not good. The bar staff were once capable of taking a challenge, making off the cuff perfect cocktails, now sad, shaking, incapable kids unaware of what the most rudimentary cocktails are. But hey, they don't need to worry really, it's all pre measured plastic tubes of premixed "cocktails" and the bar is 4,5 deep. At 9 quid a drink they will no doubt not care less what I think. But it was so so good. Was, but higher volume makes for lover value in the 45 west model. Shame really.

My first visit with a group of friends for my hen party. We hired out a room which came with waiter service. The man that serviced us was very rude and unfriendly. The complete opposite to what the service should have been. He'd ask what flavours people would like in their cocktail but when they came out they were all exactly the same? Why ask in the first place? He would walk away when being spoken to aswell as many other things. We complained to the manager on the night & she was very apologetic and said that the room hire would be refunded and we were not charged for a couple of drinks. My night was going so well untill we went to this bar. Hopefully this waiter is no longer working there as he is definitely not suited to that job! I would not recommend going there. Find somewhere more friendly that does not spoil your night out!

I visited the venue last night to attend the Jazz music performance. Decor is very pleasant and space is arranged quite well, considering the venue is small. I walked in and the gentleman at the bar welcomed me and suggested some cocktail specialties. I was walked to a chair to a nearby table. I can say that staff was very kind and attentive. The drink was refreshing and tasty - I had a margarita (one of their signature drinks). Perhaps, one could enjoy a better experience if tables and sophas were employed differently. There's a feel that space between bar and tables is limited and this, as a result, compromises privacy of people at the tables. Overall, it was a very good evening and service and drink were almost impeccable. I recommend this place.

If the fabulous girl with the tattoos and the big glasses behind the bar entices you with her vast and extensive knowledge of rum and then suggests you try the black tequila, think of Zammo and just say no! It's not big or clever to drink four or five of them. Yes, ok, so the they are tasty but they were clearly not good for me. Err, I mean, you.... Can't say I tried any of the gins or cocktails but I did drink a lot of nice rum in there. Would I drink in there again? Yeah, although it's about 45 miles from my house, so not really practical for an evening tipple. Plus, as much as I thought I was being pretty suave at the time, I probably didn't come off anywhere near as cool....

Cocktails are nice, but the service is offensive. 4 members of staff behind the bar and only 1 willing to serve customers. The other 3 stand there with their arms folded or tasking while you wait for approx 20mins. I find it rude to watch a resentful member of barstaff polish glasses whilst angrily chewing gum while the bar is heaving with customers. Let me be clear: I understand when staff are busy and under pressure that customers have to wait longer (fair enough), but 3 spare members of staff deliberately avoiding customers while one flounders is not OK.

We visited 45 West for some cocktails before a meal on a busy Friday night, it was busy in there but the service was great and the cocktails were delicious. My boyfriend and I went to a number of cocktail bars in Leicester that evening, and we both agreed that 45 West was our favorite one with the most tasty cocktails. I had a pineapple daiquiri, he had a blueberry and lemon cocktail, both were delicious!

Previously this was a really great spot for a cocktail however it has come down hill. After having a whisky based cocktail which tasted primarily of soda water I was offered a new one so I chose a last word. An absolute classic but on this occasion made with pre-made mix so tasted rather sad. Not worth the price tax. When I asked the bar tender about the pre-mix he said ‘it’s what we’ve been told to use’. I’d be embarrassed if was management/ownership if I was willing to cut corners.

Cocktails here are amazing, great product, good skills, brilliant balance, however their disregard to customer service is upsetting, it's like I could do them a favour :-( no need for that kind of attitude by the bartender's and I'm sure the attitude filters downwards. Second here in a few weeks, twice noticed the same attitude. Customers before me walked out, upset for the wait and the bartenders look at each other confused watching £45 walk out the door :-(((

Lovely bar, nice decor, cool place to see and be seen. A great selection of Gins, Whiskies, cocktails, frosted glasses and debit card wielding trendies. It is dear, overpriced and expensive. No draught ales, only a couple of canned craft beers, and guess what? They too were expensive! An OK place though if you're loaded, hip, and have too much money left at the end of your month! On a more positive note, the Blue Boar is only round the corner!

Met on entry by a smoking bouncer and a very busy bar. They have a serious issue with their bathrooms or drains!?The place stank of drains wafting through the bar which was really off putting, while we were sipping on ours Gins. Something was backed up big time which they need to sort!!! It feels like this bar is trying to be something it’s not….. fur coat, no knickers!

If I lived in Leicester I suspect I’d be a regular at 45 West, especially for date night. This good looking bar seems to attract the right sort of punter (30+, well dressed, middle class). The cocktails did the business but there’s no getting round the unavoidable downside of cocktails: the preparation time. That aside, a definite for inclusion on your pub crawl, especially for when you’ve had your fill of beer.

Tried to visit 45 West on Friday evening. Took a client for a meal and then on to this venue as I had been here before and it's the sort of place you might take a client. Two smart, professionally dressed, middle-aged guys, confronted by four intimidating bouncers who demanded to know where we had been and how much we had drunk. Unsurprisingly we didn't engage and went elsewhere. Very bizarre door policy.

Whoa!!!! What a place! ! Had no idea Leicester city centre had such a cool bar. The decor is great, the music is funky and the most important bit - a superb selection of gin cocktails/ mixers. In addition to this there are gin-free cocktails and a few craft beers for the weirdos who don't like gin. Tried about 3 different gin based drinks and have an urge to go back to try lots of others!!

We had booked a Gin tasting experience for our best friend. Josh, the manager was looking after us. A true gentleman. He sat with us, took us on a journey of Gin, we laughed alot. Drank quite a bit and then he made a cocktail with the Gin that he helped to create himself. Awsome Gin and perfect host. Thnaks for a memorable night Josh.

Turned up after previous good experiences. Now their cocktail menu is much smaller and simpler than before. It's much less than what is on their website. I don't know what happened? Did they lose their main bartenders? I asked the bartender if she had a bigger menu and she said no, but could make the classics. Yeah, so can I...

For gin drinkers I would say this is the best bar in Leicester. Creative cocktails served in all sorts of ways! But this place is not just a great bar, it is also a great place to buy your bottles of liquor. Would recommend on a Saturday night or if you just need to get a nice bottle of gin for somebody or yourself

Still love this place. Huge selection of spirits and if you're lucky enough to find a table, the table service option is great. It is a shame they've reduced the cocktail menu and there aren't as many gin cocktails as there used to be..

Wasn't in there long but the time in was enjoyable. This was from a mix of the nice decor and general layout and the great staff. You won't feel out of place as the bar staff are great at what they do and know what their talking about.

Great range of spirits along with their own signature Burleigh Gin. Really good location in Leicester amongst the trendy St Martins bars and restaurants. Staff are friendly and helpful to guide you through the choice of gin cocktails

Everything about 46 West Bottle Shop & Bar was splendid, other customers enjoying their evening out, friendly atmosphere, to the cool music. I will be making regular stops to enjoy the place even more …

when I was asking security "staff" can I come in, he pushed me so I flew on my bum, after this, about 10 mins later, while I was passing the bar, the security guard punched me in the face, that`s ok or it allright?

I had a drink here tonight with a new friend and I found that I liked the place. Nicely decorated with a dark but stylish feel. The staff were friendly and the wine was excellent. I would definitely recommend.

A very refreshing addition to Leicester’s high streets. Burleigh’s operate this cozy drinking hole, stylishly done up. Have been a few times. Consistently good atmosphere and drinks. Highly recommend.

Great if your a gin lover or gin based cocktails. Staff are brilliant and know their drinks. Only downside is the only sell 1 type of gin over the bar. Lots of other spirts are avaliable.

Shut earlier then stated on the opening times. When asked if he was still open as people were still in the bar.. His reply was 'no'. Did not apologise or anything. Poor customer service

Great bar, that is very tastefully decorated. They have a nice selection of spirits and some fun cocktails. Would highly recommend, booking ahead is definitely advised.

The drinks were Amazing. And there was no shaming for ordering a mocktail. But the band was SO LOUD that we had to leave to continue our conversation.
