Khwaja Naqruddin Moudood Chishti (R.A) migrated to Quetta 600 years ago from Chisht, Afghanistan and stayed near the city fort. Chishti was buried here after his death. He is also known as "Nogazza Baba" (meaning 9 yards long), due to the length of his grave. Quetta was once called Shal at the time Khwaja Naqr-ud-din lived there, that is why he is also known as "Shal Piran". Khwaja Naqruddin was responsible for the later flourishing of the Moudodi Syed's in Balochistan and Singh.
