I chose this place based on the reviews so I wanted to share my experience here. My son wanted to try a new hairstyle which is a body wave since he had let his hair grow out for a couple months. When we showed up we showed the picture to the lady of how he wanted it and she pointed to another person in the salon with a very curly style of perm and asked if he wanted that instead. We said no we want the body wave and she okay thats fine she can do it. They wouldnt let me stay there while they worked and my son is only 13 and so not good at advocating for himself, he said he kept pointing to the picture but the lady went ahead and did the curly style of perm we specifically stated we did not want to do. They offered to reverse it after it was clear nobody was happy but he wasn't having any of that place anymore, luckily we were able to reverse it at home. I give 2 stars because the place is nice and everyone is friendly but I feel like this lady just wanted to do what she wanted to do (and upsell me perm products) versus giving my son what he wanted which caused him a lot of stress you can imagine a middle schooler with a bad perm they didn't ask for.

Let me start by saying I was very nervous when I started looking for a new hairstylist when I moved to Houston. Luckily I found 901 Salon & Boutique and had such a great experience! Lily started off my session with a thorough shampoo and conditioning before my cut. She was very pleasant and professional. My haircut and style was done by Steve, who did wonders with my hair. My hair is thin, frizzy and course and I have tons of baby hairs so I was nervous when he started cutting my hair. Steve is so experienced and left my hair looking more amazing than any stylist I've ever been to before. He took his time while cutting my hair and would even pause to give me tips on how to style it and make it more manageable. Overall, I had an amazing experience and I left feeling very happy with my haircut (especially for the price!). I've found my new stylist in Houston and I highly recommend them to anyone and everyone!

Woman was very nice while in the salon. I had a question later about the perm I had received from her the next asking for advice on what to do. I tried calling multiple times only to be closed on, when I finally spoke to her and she answered her cell number she closed on me. I don’t know why. I felt very disrespected after this. I would not go to her again not because I don’t like the quality of the perm but because she blocked my personal cell number so I can’t call to ask questions after the perm. It just broke my heart to know that she had done something to my hair that would make it different for the next 6 months and she wouldn’t let me ask for advice after that.

Awesome salon, great customer service, and clean environment. I always feel Steve and Lily go the extra mile to make sure their customers are super happy. Steve always takes his time doing your haircut to make sure every strand is to his and/or your liking. Lily is always smiling, making sure you are okay all the time. I like to change my hairstyle often and sometimes I'm too lazy to choose so I leave it up to Steve and he never disappoints. The salon and boutique is very clean inside and out. They also have a great selection of high quality hair care products and a small boutique filled with sterling silver accessories. Great stuff.

I couldn't be happier with a place to get my hair cut. I used to dread haircuts because it was always a gamble whether it would come out looking decent. However, I have been getting my hair cut there for almost 3 years now, and I have never once been unsatisfied with the result! Lilly and Steve are very pleasant at all times. My wife and I both get our cuts there, and we have now gotten our family here in Houston to come as well! The prices are incredibly reasonable for a great cut with expert skill and a pleasant atmosphere. Thanks to Lilly and Steve for a consistently great experience!

I have been a customer of Steve and Lilly for about 3 years now, thanks to my fiancee. And now, I won't let anyone else touch my hair! Steve is a skilled colorist, and a talented hairdresser. Lilly works right along with him. I love both of them! I always find the experience to be professional, reasonable, and quality. If you haven't given them a try, it is certainly worth it. If you're interested in jewelry, they have lots of items to choose from in the shop as well. Gives you lovely window shopping if you're waiting for color to set. They also sell quality salon products!

I always have a great time whenever I get a perm at the 901 Salon and Boutique. Steve and Lilly are professional, loveable, patient, kind, and very detail-oriented. They actually take their time to listen to my concerns and give me a best perm. I come to the salon and get a perm every 2 to 3 months, and I am always satisfied with it. All results are very consistent, the perm comes out nicely and lasts long. They always remind me how to take care of my perm, so it can last much longer and look nice on me. If you want to try a perm, come and try here!! Highly recommended!

Great perm! I've had a perm fall out of my hair after two days because my hair is so fine and straight as a board, but when I got it done here the technician took extra time to treat my hair and it lasted over 6 months. Even in the Texas humidity. Back again on June 17,2023. Only place i have personally found that can perm white girl hair like mine (fine and straight and oily). Steve is the best! I posted an at home blow out pick July 7,2023 to show the volume added from the perm process.

This place is the best!! It’s a small business with just Steve and Lily and they were so nice! They made me feel so comfortable and I had complete trust in them. Steve really knows what he’s doing. I showed him reference pictures and he adjusted the look to fit my hair type. He gave me my first perm and he did an amazing job! The haircut came out perfect too! I really love my perm and I will definitely be back for a touch up when the time comes!

Steve is the only person who is allowed to touch my hair. I love this salon, you will walk out with a hair cut you love so much. I got a highlight and hair cut and the color of the highlights were exactly what a I asked for (honey dark brown) and the hair cut was perfect and the way they styled my hair was perfect. Staff is super nice and a joy to talk to. Highly recommend coming here to get your hair done.

Steve and Lily are amazing!! After trying multiple salons around town (e.g., Milk + Honey, etc.), there is no one else I trust more with my hair. They helped me figure out the best type of perm for my hair, which was really helpful since it was my first time and I was a bit nervous. Three perms later, I am about to move to NYC and will still be coming back to them anytime I’m back in town.

I had an awesome experience at 901 Salon & Boutique with Steve and Lily and they were professional! The visit was comfortable and full of good vibes from the salon. I came in with a gone-wrong balayage done by another salon and I really loved how it turned after Steve corrected it. They took safety precaution for Covid-19 seriously and I can tell that they want best for their customers.

Really pleased with my haircut. This is about 1 week out from when it was cut (at the end of the day with just some simple putty put into it). I showed her a picture of David Beckham's side part and told her just something along those lines. Lily did a great job, took her time, and gave me exactly the haircut I wanted all while being really friendly during the cut. I will be returning.

As a guy it was kinda tricky to find a place to do a curling perm . This placed popped up online and I checked it out. Got my first perm about 5 months ago and today I'm sitting in the salon for the second one. Lilly did my perm both times and she would aways offer water or check on me to make sure I was okay. They're accommodating and very friendly. Also very knowledgeable.

I like to cut my hair here. I always get compliments after cutting hair here Steve are so nice and professional and know what to do with my hair My hair are so thick and dried from bleaching and he gently wash and cut it. Love the result totally changed my look and make me happy and healthy hair This is a good location and have a lot of parking spot Highly recommended!

Steve and sister gave great professionalism and create friendly environment the whole time I was in the salon. Peaceful and spacious space inside, everything was handled with great care, and they keep/do things with respect and prioritize sanitary. The Best hair salon owns by Steve and Lilly they are brother and sister. They did really good job they take their time to Take care of my hair . I highly recommend this salon. Steve and Lily are knowledgeable, friendly, and honest. I got my first perm ever here last year, and I loved it. My hair was uncolored, but coarse and straight, and now I have really nice natural looking curls. Since then, I’ve come in every 3-4 months to redo my perm and get a trim. I enjoy my visit every time!

The salon is very clean. Limit number of customer per hour at 2-3 person. The seat is far from each other. The seats and all equipment are cleaned with alc. after service for each customer. We feel very safe and satisfied. Steve gave an excellent hair cut as usual. During this pandemic, Appointment and wearing face mask is required.

Steve and Lily are very skilled at what they are doing. I have been going there for 4 years and Steve knows how to work with my hair. Steve always deliver amazing style on me when I go there for a blow dry and wash. Great price for the Montrose area. Excellent service, patient and kind, superb stylist. I went today and appreciated all the efforts made to make it a safe and relaxed visit. I was the only client in the room, the area was disinfected before I sat down, and no one else entered the area. Certainly calmed any anxiety I had before arriving. Kudos to Steve and Lily.

I came in with a perm and blonde hair. Not my first perm or my first highlight. Picture of curls before. Picture after partial touch up. Straight and destroyed. Asked for it to get fixed and he is gas lighting me like I have not had this done before. Spent $185 and was not offering any kind of refund or to fix.
