I shop in this store most days, maybe even daily and today whilst paying for my shopping at the self check out a female member of staff approached me mid getting my card out and asked to look in my bag. I said why? And she told me Aldi have a new policy where they check people’s bags on check out. I paused and questioned her as it seemed ridiculous and I had never heard of it. I then realised it was the same woman who in the summer whilst I had finished paying and was packing my shopping asked me if I had bought the pint of milk that was under my pram, bearing in mind I’m packing my shopping and anything heavy I put under the buggy. I showed her my receipt but was embarrassed. I went home today and googled their policy and she lied. They are allowed to check your bags if that a reason by it’s down to their discretion and they don’t check everyone’s bags. I called up and made a complaint and the 1st customer service rep put the phone done, the second heard me out and agreed it seemed weird and the manager called and was extremely rude. It’s seems clear to me as a brown woman, that member of staff was clearly racial profiling me. I will not be shopping at Aldi anymore, I’ll go to Lidl no problem. Nicer shop, cleaner shop, and friendly staff. Also, I’m going to take this as far as I can and I’ll make sure my friend with 20k followers reposts my Instagram story.

This is my local store so I visit on average three times a week. The customer assistants are helpful, friendly and always approachable. As so are the checkout staff and the security guards who always stop and entertain small talk. I noticed on a few visits that a lot of the stock was close to its expiry date. Often, one or two days before, with no reduction or reference to this. I also noticed out of date items that I took off the shelf and handed to a member of staff. I relayed this information to a checkout assistant who offered to call the manage for me. Unfortunately, he seemed unbothered by this. His whole demenaor and attitude was nonchalant and unfriendly and it was keen he would not be acting on this information. Additionally, the store is absolutely filthy. I have noticed it on all of my visits. The floors need a sweep and today I even noticed the dirt on the self checkout tills: absolutely disgusting. Such a shame that the store has been left in such a neglected and unhygienic way. I do not think I can continue to shop here until the cleanliness of the store improves. Please see the dirt in the self checkout bagging section.

A very unfriendly bunch of staff. Only 1 or 2 of them are nice people. They rush you at the till and you have not finish packing the goods when they are asking if it's cash or card. That gets on my nerves and l don't answer. I know they get annoyed when you do not answer but l do not care. This is England not Poland or god knows l am the customer .1 or 2 of them are pleasant. Trolleys are not allowed in the self serving tills. I do not understand why because all the other supermarkets including other aldis allowed them. No customer service. It's usually one till opened and a long queue. How sad, l wish they improve their mannerⁿs. I am very surprised a supermarket employs a very unfriendly person, very rude, no social skills, as l think is the woman in charge of the staff. The one with no facial expression. She is ghastly and l do not think she should be in your shop. Aldi should be a shame of it. A good and well stock shop with ghastly people working for you.

Excellent store. I like it personally because its always well stocked and there is ample parking, not busy like MOST TESCOS AND RIPPING PPL OFF LIKE LIDL with their stealth policy of sending tickets home in some stores. Above all, we all know aldi prices are number 1. Docked 1 star because they are trying to sell too many blankets, solar lights, cheap gizmos and gardening stuff. Most of these items get returned and end up in auctions. They must make a huge profit on these items to sell em and can subsidise on their groceries. So who am i to speak on their business model heh. But, which is a big but, that space can be used to stock more varieties and that in return would excel them very soon past TESCO. I use to be % Tesco loyal ( not royal yet), but i am now 55%. Only cause I do not get most of my grocery from Aldi. Monthly shopping budget=£800plus.

Close to Norwood junction station, this branch used to have a toilet facility. No longer the case now. Staff hold the carrier bags at self-checkouts. They stand there looking all intimidating and frowning. Not limited to this branch only. They don't trust and value their customers. Not the kind of attitude you'd expect from members who staff who are meant to be professional, namely in their conduct and demeanour. I'm not feeling generous about this review, so until they learn to trust and value us, then this will stay at a 1-star review. The toilet facility provided convenience in the past and since that's no longer the case, then it's only made things very awkward. Local station is Norwood Junction. Literally a stone throws away.

I hope that the owner reads this very constructive criticism as it is! Customer feedback. I shop regularly at this local branch of Aldi and the staff are brilliant the shelves are MOSTLY filled, and the prices are very reasonable for MOST things. They recently changed their trolleys and it no longer accepts the UNIVERSAL trolley token. I never have £1, it could have been updated to one where the payment was taken via card but only £1. I am having to go and find a dodgy stock-filled trolley that usually has a crazy wheel or a £1 stick inside, which the security always helps me to do, but can you see my annoyance? This trolley change has made my life that much harder, it negates the idea of a trolley token completely.

Andreiz (manager) extremely rude, aggressive and intimidating and Nancy (sales assistant) extremely rude and unhelpful. Sales assistant and Manager failed to provide customer service when approached for assistance regarding the location of an item - instead, Manager (Andreiz) aggressively shouted ‘why don’t you go back to school and learn how to read!’ As if that wasn’t enough, the manager then followed me to the self checkout to stand RIGHT behind by me whilst I scanned and paid for £3.22 worth of shopping , so that (in his words) he could watch what I am doing?! Charming!!

  • Vijal Patel

Not even single star. Worst customer service. Morning lady manager(Andreiz) behave is not good. I buy 3 bin bag worth mention 1.09. And she told like its 2.25 and start arguing with me and without saying sorry she told that buy it if you want it or leave the store. That totally not good. Lady manager(Andreiz) is very rude. No manners how to talk with customers. It her fault that they put wrong price but she behaves like you should check it before buy it. Very bad service from manager(Andreiz). Not happy. Her name is Andreiz.

  • Ross Christov

85% of the time I find what I am there for. Often the things I need are stacked on pallets idling and waiting for the somewhat rude restockers. The wheel baskets are missing almost every time and a mini game of hide and seek is in order if I want to get my hands on one. If unable to secure one, I am stuck with the large trolley and I am at the will of the rude cashiers awaiting feverishly to swoop and bruise your items at the till rushing you to "hurry up and pay".

  • Franciely Santos

Good prices and nothing to complain about the staff, the problem is that if you go late at night like me you won't find a lot of things, chicken seasoning? Impossible to find after 6PM, sandwichs? Impossible, eggs? Almost impossible, cucumber? Impossible, lemon? Impossible... That's the only problem I have, since I like to go on weekdays after work which is less crowded that's an issue for me, but besides that I like to shop there, the best price

  • Lewis Harrison

Well this is a difficult 1 to be honest, because I've been going there since it opened. Most staff that work on tills or putting stock out are good polite and not rude but as for some managers or assistant managers the service is rude and terrible. I feel as I've been stereotyped and discriminated witch is not cricket. Also I believe they don't understand what trading standards actually is and think trading standards is a joke.

  • Kip Pone

At the self check out a female member of staff asked me to look under my bag if I hide anything in bad way. I called the manager explain everything and she was extremely rude shouting and saying people's stealing hire that's why we check everything very hard to understand her as she doesn't speak english properly ,Manager with no english speaking ,this happen on 31.03.2023 till number 2 around 9pm

  • meer asher

It's good place to do shopping could get better by adding more halal stuff and if become more kids friendly. Vegetarian sign is not very clear that make u spend more time on looking out for v stuff. Staff is not very friendly and no smile on there faces when dealing with customers Staff has got very little knowledge about their products

  • Herivelto Salvador

Store always dirty and disorganized... store floor is disgusting, always very dirty, tills never seem to be cleaned, self check out monitors are practically covered in dust. Employees are always manning the aisles with pallets and cages, leaving literally no room for customers to pass through. Overall, the staff are friendly.

  • Azim Ahmed

Great place to shop, great prices, parking is limited to be honest during peak times, but generally you should find parking space, though not that spacious. Aldi is usually quite busy as of it's great prices and quality food. Staff are friendly, have self check outs, disabled facilities too. Definitely recommend the place

  • Peter Edwards

Free parking, wider than usual aisles, helpful staff, generally kept clean and tidy through the day. Even if the queue is long it takes so little time as customers reload their trolleys and pack at their own pace elsewhere. My £40 shop costs £65 in Sainsbury's and takes 2 minutes to process at the till - yes, I timed it!

  • Martin A

A decent sized Aldi, approximately 2.5 rows in the middle aisle for special buys. Pretty clean, not as messy as previous visits. The store also has both Halloween AND Xmas items out. Little or no health foods available that you find in other branches. The had two staffed tills open as well as self check out.

  • George Koutsoudopoulos

It was my first visit post refurbishment and I have to say losing the entrance to the high street is a huge mistake for the flow of the store. Overall it looked messy and so many chiller cabinet doors were broken it looked totally unkempt. The freezers were totally empty too. I really won't rush back.

  • Micaela Frances

The staff was very unprofessional, they had 10min before the closing time and they were already turning of the lights inside the store with costumers inside, while the security was literally going after the costumers to start making their way out, while people where still getting their groceries

  • Stuart Harrison

Big sized shop with car park selling a good range of products. Even better now they have refurbished it, much better layout, could do better at opening more tills when busy but staff are friendly. Still shopping here most Saturdays and still a good shop Good range of non food items as well.

  • Derek Small

Generally well stocked with good quality food at a reasonable price. Good fruit and vegetables section. Friendly staff. Conveniently Located 2 minutes from Norwood Junction station and 1 minute from the high street. Small car park may have to wait for parking space.

  • Daniel Nowak

Very limited selection with shelves not fully stocked. Better go for some other grocery options if possible/available. Although if you're looking for a ready meal just to be reheated - you won't be disappointed - anything more ambitious - better go somewhere else.

  • Valery Page

1 star because of the self check outs, absolutely appalling!Only 3 opened in rush hours(management does't want to cash up at the end of the day?)with a massive queue all the time. The store is also in bad conditions(carboards everywhere and rubbish on the floor)

  • Yvonne Edwards

It's local, sells a range of food and I love the special range of goods it sells on a Thursday and Sunday. This store is brilliant and definitely is excellent value for money. I tend to buy their still flavoured water, frozen vegetables and fresh prawns here.

  • Mamma Rua

Been coming to this Aldi for 2 years now and it dissapoints everytime.Only 1 or 2 tills open at a time even at peak hours, the self check out has half of the machines actually on and working. You spend more time queuing up than actually shopping ridiculous.

  • Indra Patel

In this retail outlet of Aldi there is always a beggar sitting near the Trolleys daily. Looks like the retail outlet management and security guard doesn't want to do anything about it. Try and avoid this outlet if possible. There is a Lidl outlet nearby.

  • k Stonurai

One of the staff, a black lady, accused my mother of stealing and embarrassed her infront of everyone by going through her PERSONAL bag. Obviously there was no stolen items and the member of staff didn't bother apologising. we will never shop here again

  • Alex Green

Visiting Aldi in this location reminds of Marx's contention that capitalism is always in crisis. It has that 'end of days' / 'societal collapse' / 'picking over the wreckage' feeling. You turn an aisle and expect to see Tina Turner in a mohawk wig.

  • Synthaly

They recently revamped this ALDI store location and it’s much better. There are now self-checkouts available in the South Norwood ALDI, as well as new fridges with some neat doors. Would recommend this ALDI location for a quick Sunday shop.

  • SJ Bodell

Solid local supermarket. Glad to have it so close by. Sometimes, staples will go out of stock for a few weeks at a time, but I think that's just a fact of life in the UK now - not particular to this store. Great prices and good staff.

  • jenjelly j

Never loose anything there, you won't get it back. Need self checkout. Christmas service was good but need to stock up more on items that don't go off. Not good for buying 3 items. Soy milk is watery, perfect prices. Maybe close 11pm

  • nadya abbes

Not very busy. Shelves always stocked my only problem is that only a handful of people were wearing masks, this is my 1st time shopping since having coronavirus so not sure if the rules changed but it looked like no one gave a s**t.

  • Jonas Jankunas (jjsnap)

Aldi Norwood Junction is my favourite local shop. Always fresh and tasty food and a lot more! Everyone will find there something very special for him. Also, need to mention Aldi's friendly and helpful staff. Thank you so much guys!

  • DA Ni

The security guy tonight stopped me thinking I stole a pizza, but after seeing his mistake he didn’t care to apologise, probably too proud to excuse himself because he’s doing such a hard and strenuous job! Upset with you Aldi!

  • A Niyaz

I had to go to Aldi to return a product I ordered online. The staff was nice. I managed to get a replacement as some there were some in the shop. I did some grocery shopping as well. Good quality products at reasonable prices.

  • Express and Relieve

Nothing to complain anout. Stuff is in its place and workes there seem to always move around doing something. I come here regularly and I can say security is cool, cashiers are nice and staff is productive. Keep it up guys!

  • Steve haywood

Went here because my more local Anerley branch was closed down, not sure why. Plenty of parking spaces when I went. The shop was quite busy. Shelves were well stocked and the usual good quality at a reasonable prices.

  • Terry

Lovely store with 1.5 hour free parking, more than enough to shop. I dont visit there very often so I was surprised and impressed at the amount of staff on the shop floor. Sainsbury's and Tesco need to take note!

  • Bill cogneeto

Good for house and food groceries. Some wines and spirits. Many low prices means large savings at the till. No toilet and bathroom facility's let this shop down. 2 small car parks get a bit congested sometimes.

  • PJ O'Maoil Mheana

Totally helpful to a disabled servíces veteran. Would not release a trolley to help me. Now in considerable pain. Gee thanks for that totally underwhelming shopping experience. Attitude of staff abysmal.

  • N Robinson

Even though the queue was long to get into the store it went down quickly. Traffic light system worked very well. Could move around freely in store and checkout was quick, opening up tills when needed.

  • Ignatius Ichide

Nice place to shop. Not a very big store, but you will find most of your daily essentials and at very affordable prices too. Nice customer service and helpful staff. I would definitely go there again.

  • Zenia Jamison

Food is fine but store is scruffy and messy. Not great that the front entrance has been closed so you have to go through the side passage. On a plus side at least staff on tills unlike lidl.

  • Shanique Reece

My local supermarket! Love everything about Aldi, from facial wipes, to good snacks and good quality wine and ready meals. They have it all for such good prices! Sometimes you find

  • Sanny Busari

Terrible. The shopping baskets were dirty and a staff called Dominic told me I am being too sensitive when I request if they can clean it sometimes. Won't step near that shop again.

  • evayardy83

It has been recently renovated. The special buy section, always has something on offer. There is a wide variety of items, foods etc to buy. The staff is lovely and willing to help.

  • Lew H

Fruit and veg have massively improved in quality over the past few years and the prices are okay with an exception to the meat. I may have missed thrm but didn't see any sausages.

  • Daniel John

Really need to stop re stocking all the shelves when they open. It's Chaos and so frustrating. Also no bakery is a real put off. I'd rather drive the extra mile and go to Lidl.

  • Christine Ryland

Good variety of fresh fruit and veg. Prices are good. Sometimes the queues are long. But there are a few self service tills are available. Staff are mostly very pleasant.

  • Missye White

A good supermarket is always needed . Laid out simply, need some quick supplies this was perfect. Can be confusing navigating the aisles, but you will find what you need

  • Carol Lynch

I had a brilliant find in Aldi today I got an XL bed for my dog for only £30 I have been looking elsewhere but they are very expensive I am so pleased with my purchase

  • L May

This store compared to when it first opened is terrible, self service tills never work and getting in and out is stressful. I'm spending more time in Tesco recently.

  • Rebekah Farmer

Helpful staff. My child tossed their soft toy behind a very tall divider and they went out of their way to get it. They also are willing to show you where items are.

  • Profection MK

My local store I once had a security guard follow me around the store, but not covertly, literally standing metres away in plain sight. 0 stars and lucky wasnt sued

  • Phil Arnold

Take a decent location, a good enough stock selection, but a disaster of a car park! The store is located close to Norwood Junction station and the clock tower,

  • Russell Ashley-Smith

A good selection of products at bargain prices. A few empty shelves. I'd like more British products. Quick checkout either with a staff member or self check out.

  • Keith Earl

Not been to many Aldi supermarkets... definitely not as welcoming as Sainsbury's or Tesco or even the one Lidl (Windmill Rd Croydon) that I had been to recently.

  • Mary Jules

Not my first choice as queues at checkout can be quite lengthy. Surprisingly not to busy today so I manage to get round fairly quickly. No eggs though.

  • Zoli Timo

I wanted to do big shopping first time after 20 years again, and I end up buying 2 things only, and just remembered why I stopped going to any ALDI...

  • Rajesh Rajilal

Really small , the store looked empty of selection. The middle ils had no gadgets. Busy with customer but only one till open when 5 till are present.

  • christine parkes

Fairly large store with a variety of different foods to choose from. Not everything is cheap and some things more expensive than other supermarkets.

  • Nabz

Big and have all things in stock but long wait for tills. Plus points it’s right near station so can get few bits last minute before going on train.

  • Tom Wright

If you ever see more than 4 self checkouts open: take a picture and send it to some sort of museum. Shop here and save money, but waste your time.

  • Terie

Accessible for all. Easy store to navigate. Shelves always being stocked. Some staff are really helpful. Clean. Carpark can be a little chaotic.

  • Darren Fay

good. 0222 update. meat stock full not that I would buy that based on reviews. Lots of empty shelves and frozen sections are bare. Staff sound.

  • Vee Ell

Since COVID , its a bit hit and miss. And, prices have gone up. Have to spend too much tine looking for things that are there one week, and

  • Emma Hunter

I LOVE this place!!! It's cheap, there's a great selection of produce and everyone is lovely. Their flowers are always particularly good.

  • MahfuZ MT

Always i go to aldy, this very comfort zone where i can get my all necessary thing to grabe. And goods are really cheap everyone …

  • lisa creighton

Amazed how well the store was stocked . Got everything I needed in 1 go . However it was very very busy but yeah well done aldi …

  • Patricia Robinson

Everything was in good supply apart from eggs. If you require eggs as part of your shopping you need to shop early in the morning

  • Odette Haase

I love Aldi, no complaints. They have dairy and gluten free produce a lot of the times which makes shopping in 1 location easier.

  • Mike A

Please do something about the parking!!!! Selfish parking!! Seen here having a victory smoke. LoL. Illegal parking!!!

  • Shafique Kumbay

Convenient location and good balance at competitive prices. Fresh vegetables are good quality at a competitive price.

  • Ashu TV

Mid size store not that big. Most of the brands are their own. Good for daily fruits n vegs not for big groceries.

  • Anjali Price

What is with the bag checks? If you have security why do the cashiers need to check bags, absolutely ridiculous!!

  • Megan Owen

A big store, shelves are usually full, staff are helpful. Only ever half of the self checkouts are working.

  • Nadine Dadson

What can I say..... Food is fresh n helps make the best tasty budget meals. …

  • The Plone

Saw a huge rat run across the shop and sneak into some of the doughnuts they had out near the front

  • Paul McDonald

A good shopping experience can be out of things unexpectedly, parking is always good, nice staff
