I am convinced the plans for this leisure centre were made by someone who has no clue about the community or by someone who hates the community and is forcing it to change! Both the mixed gym and the programme gym are upstairs. These stairs are in the middle of the building, the whole plan is an open area, so the library, reception area, walk in area and cafe with seating, can all see you go up these several flight of stairs. Being gawked at. The female gym (room) is still TINY. There is no changing room in the female gym to get changed in. You have to go OUT of the room (i’m not even calling it a gym), PAST the mixed gym where the wall is fully glass so everyone in there can see you… pass the top of the stairs, which is openly visible in every direction) and around to the opposite side to get into the female changing rooms (which by the way is next door to the mens changing rooms). Like any woman or girl who covers in abayas and jilbabs is going to do that, let alone feel comfortable doing that. So it will be back to getting your abayas/dresses and hijabs off and on within the TINY female only gym and storing it in bags and keeping it in the room with you. You also have a seating area upstairs where you can sit and see the people swimming downstairs. So again, where is the privacy when this is accessible by everyone from upstairs? I haven't even seen the pool & changing rooms set up downstairs but I heard from someone else that it is always packed out and apparently men have been using the changing rooms too at the same time as female only times.

My rating for this centre has gone from 4 stars to 1. I had some issues before, but it was nothing major. Today as a regular customer who pays montly subscription I was sent home twice with kids and wasn't allowed on the swimming pool due to lack of staff, apparently during the school holidays, where the centre should be prepared for extra volume of customers. I wasted my time and the kids were disappointed. I understand everything but I do not understand the manager's reaction to my problem. The manager wasn't bothered to help me and kept saying there is nothing what can be done. Manager seemed to have a lack of basic managerial skills, which will enable him to find a solution to issues and problems, and did not care about customers at all. Lack of lifeguards on the swimming pool today (school holidays)was apparently due to them being too expensive to hire, according to the manager. The about 250 m2 pool with one lifeguard has been able to accomodate 25-30 people for over 3 hours and no one else was allowed. Reception staff which usually are helpful here today did not even bother to find any solution to my problem and sent me home twice. They refused to call a manager for me , who I had to chase myself. Poor management in my opinion, staff are probably not at fault but could try to understand regular customer's frustration in such situations. The only thing, after today's experience I am happy about in this centre are the swimming instructors, well qualified, kind and helpful.

This is an absolute joke the female gym is always booked out by the school, which they didn’t mention when we paid for the membership. Tell me what are we paying for? more or less everyday during the day time the school has access to female gym even on a Saturday there’s youth club on after 5pm. Now as for this mixed gym it’s appalling how are there kids under the age of 16 in the gym who don’t know how to use the equipment, it’s a safety hazard not just for the kids but other members. There’s 12yr old kids trying to pick up heavy weights. Where is the staff? How are they allowing kids this young unsupervised in the gym. Apparently kids are allowed with adults, but clearly there’s more kids in the gym than adults and the staff can see this but choose to ignore it, also there’s never any staff in the mixed gym when there’s children in there. This is becoming a joke the female gym is always booked by the school. The main gym is open with kids running around and playing game’s on equipment. The staff can see that some of the children aren’t with adults and the kids with adults aren’t be supervised, but don’t do anything just walk past. The staff needs to take some action kids under the age of 16 shouldn’t be allowed in and if they’re the staff need to be Present in the main gym. These kids are going to injure themselves and others, as half of them be playing games in there whilst their parents don’t bother to pay any attention.

There are simply not enough women's only swimming and health suite sessions, especially in the evenings (not every woman is a homemaker/carer and may have a day job!). We see many slots for mixed sessions which are less than half full leading up to them, yet women are having to compete for the women only slots. There is clearly a demand for them as they are booked up a week in advance. This is unfair and ludicrous! The people who are running the leisure centre don't seem to be in tune with the demographics of the area or care about the needs of the local community. I suggest they consult their users, or would be users, and review their services. Update: just wanted to comment on the leisure centre's response to another users concern regarding the programmable gym being used by the the school for most of the day. Please see attached a photo of the timings given for public access when the centre first opened and compare this with current timings. Contary to the leisure centre's response, the timings have been changed considerably and now limit access for members of the public. As you can see previously, women could use the gym all day Tues and Thurs and after 3pm on Mon and Fri. This has been yet another disappointment for me!

The leisure centre has a gym which also a really reasonable sized ladies only gym too. It has a lot of gym equipment though it could do with one or two more machines. Their staff are all pleasant (the ones I've come into contact with) and helpful. They is a baby and adult swimming pools with swimming lessons available for all ages and several other activities. The gym doesn't have any exercise classes which is a shame. Also the sauna and steam rooms are allocated with women only from 7 till 5 and from 5 till close down menu only during the week which is extremely unfair for any woman wanting to use the facilities after 5 and vise versa for the men. It is clear that this allow favours the Jewish and Muslim community who are the predominant users. The rest of us don't matter even though last time I checked we all pay with the Pound. Also the steam room is the most disgusting room on the face of the earth. People go in there to scrub and coughs and spite and apply all sort of creams, scrubs and scented oils. The management need to either close it down or do more inspections during use. Other than that the library is functional on the smaller side but still lovely. Lovely outdoor sitting to also cafe during term time available

I cant lie yh it was actually good at the start unless today there a women didn't let us in and we always book there and they never say something she was too islamaphoiba to us and not only us even other muslim people she did the same she didn't let my daughter go in just because she was 15 and we booked women only and she didn't let us in and she told us to go swim w the other men SHE was so rude all people were so sweet except for her and she canceled our booking HOW CAN SHE DO THAT she need to do her work properly my daughter know how to swim and she said just because she under 16 she can go to the 2 meter on and not the 1.2meter one what kinda stupid rule is this let me describe how she look like she got some long nose with tattoo on her thigh and she blond and she kinda tall if she don't let us in again im reporting her guys just don't let her be rude too u cuz she an actual mean person. THE THING IM MAD ABOUT HOW CAN SHE CANCEL OUR BOOKING!!! she need to get reported let me just find out her name im going on thursday again with the same people with the same booking if she don't let us she wont be happy to what i will do to her.

  • Huma Munir

Was excited for this gym to open but as someone who works 12 hour shifts, the timings of the female only gym are really frustrating. Why must a working woman either use the gym 6:30am-12:00 (sometimes its 6:30-8am) or 15:30-22:00, what if we want to have a workout during midday as we have work the next day and need to prepare for that. Neither do any of us want to be getting up at 6am on our days off. It’s getting really frustrating and it’s obviously a common issue as other reviews are pointing it out too. I just don’t see why the school can’t utilise the main gym seen as though its always empty and is more spacious. Not fair to expect females to share and suffer with the timings. Update- the timings have became worse!! With many days the gym being open 6:30-8:30 and then it reopens at 15:30, on fridays its at 16:30, absolutely ridiculous!! During the winter nobody likes going to the gym late, might as well make it fully into a gym for the school next door, you go to the gym and it’s empty no matter what time you go because people have just cancelled their memberships now, as will I! Sick of writing reviews and not being heard.

  • Mr David

Small gym. No one, not even the staff, put the weights away or tidy up. Very old equipment. No air-con during summer. Dirty, smelly showers and changing rooms. Very expensive for what it is and the price has just gone up! Only one receptionist seems friendly and a people person; the rest seem unhappy and have heard them be quite snappy to people. Short opening hours at weekends. The good is that during the morning and afternoon the gym is very quiet even on a weekend. The sauna and steam room are the only things I will miss from this centre. Only go here if PureGym is too far for you to travel to, otherwise wait until it gets refurbished at some point.

  • AU Sabawan

Poor management and one star is more then enough for this facility, it's untidy and disorganise. Steam room was not working for long time and even now it is not working properly. Vending machines are not working most of times and there is no warning sign attached to them while these machines wasted our money. I had approached reception and they told me it is not their responsibility. Life guards are not available in weekend (Saturday and Sunday) for kids swimming pool in early hours and I had to wait in few occasions in reception area till life guards arrive.

  • MUBLS Committee

We held our annual ballroom and latin university competition at Abraham Moss Leisure Centre Sports Hall. The venue set up was perfect and the staff were amazing to get everything in place for our event. With 400 attendees this was not a small undertaking but we have nothing but good things to say about the staff and venue and would definitely be using this venue again to host our events in the future. Amazing communication, organisation and Callum the manager made sure everything was ready for our event. Thank you so much Abraham Moss, we had an amazing day!

  • Polina Chamberlain

Very limited facilities. Update: fantastic new facility. Unfortunately off pick doesn't include enough swimming times and no classes that I noticed but still great what you get for money. Unfortunately new gym became very dirty very quickly. As I go there nearly every day I see same rubbish dust and dirt at some places literally for several weeks ( even made photo to see how long it will be there)Same shampoo stains and hairs on walls of shower again sometimes for week. Broken toilet in female changing room for while now. Place in need of staff to clean gym.

  • Anna M

Swimming pool area, toilets and changing room area could be cleaner, many things such as wet floors, lockers, doors, dirty walls needs some attention. Swimming pool staff should make sure that people take shower first before they go swimming, this should be a must simply for hygienic reasons. If people can't see the need for it themeselves they should be reminded. Some hygienic antibacterial gel dispensers would be an advantage. Clening staff should make sure all areas are clean and smell of clinenliness. Not much effort but would make a massive difference.

  • Aasia Ahmed

The ladies gym is an absolute mess! You should see the amount of dust on the mirrors and floor it’s a health hazard! To make things even worse all the runnnig machines have been switched off as they are dangerous to use and it’s been nearly 3 weeks since they’ve said something will be done but nothing has been done to change them. It’s a waste of money and to be honest if you can avoid this place please do so. staff are also not fussed about what’s going on and will fob you off when asking anything. Someone needs to clean this place it’s disgusting!!

  • Money saving Tips

Centre is a little unorganised and not managed very well, i think due to lack of staff. Many incidents in changing areas go unsupervised or reported. Kids leaving swimming pool can be very rude and noisy in changing area. More presence of staff would be good. Facilities are quite basis sauna, steam showers are quite unhygienic. Door lock on steam/sauna are does not work properly so anyone can barge in and they do. Why do i need to pay £5 when i can just push the door open. Regular checks on the steam are by staff wouod be good

  • Kasim Muneer

Thank God for those local libraries that still do exist. Currently Crumpsall has a small cabin but is very nice. I am greatful to visit this area after a very long time I felt so nice as I miss the older libraries that no longer exists. They used to be really nice . Staff is helpful here. Half of the cabin library is the children's side (all ages) and other half teens/adult side of fiction/non fiction. Few tables to sit and work opening times are: MON,WED,THURS,SAT (9AM-5PM. Tuesday, Friday and Sunday closed.

  • A Alhaddi

Extremely disappointed very limited women’s only health suite/swimming sessions available, always fully booked a week in advance. The health suite does not have a separate shower/changing area so once you use the sauna you have to use the mixed changing area. This makes the gym not fit for purpose for many ladies in the local Jewish and Muslim communities. I’ve spoken to large numbers of ladies who will be cancelling their memberships at the earliest opportunity.

  • Zita Romek

The gym is big enough, I think everybody can find there what they want, the pool is not that big but still okay, but it has very busy timetable and the sauna and steam room are small but still isn't impossible to use it. Anyway I like it, if somebody is looking a gym around Crumpsall it is a good one, but before you buy membership there just tell to the receptionist that you want to look around inside and they let you in, that's the way how I did it.

  • Z H

I used to love the gym and everything as it was. This stupid refurb had affected alot of people. This gym was the only one in the area that was affordable and had a women's area and the only one with equipment in the women's area worth using! Broughton gyms female area is shockingly bad and is way more expensive. I'm so sad at how long it's been closed and barely any way of finding an update. What a disappointment.

  • Sis vs Bro

Wow, avoid like the plague!!! Place is a dive, the floors ceiling is filthy, everywhere is disgusting, it is genuinely the worst swimming baths i have been too! The place needs knocking down and rebuilding Health and safety and hygiene is literally so low here that it amazes me its awful!! Its actually ridiculous that the local council think its ok to have children walking around and using these facilities

  • Rafa Andy

The sauna room looks dirty and over all the place could use a little bit of cleaning and follow up. I also used the library and was buggered by the hissing sound of the fan. I had to leave earlier than l wanted to stay because it was freezing cold as they forgot to turn the AC off and the heater on. Overall not so bad, but compared to other leisure centres and libraries not that good either.

  • E

The library / work area is a jungle. Unsupervised kids running around, shouting and crying. Teenage boys cussing and causing troubles. Teen girls smoking weed inside the staff room. People speaking on the phone. All these happening at once. Meanwhile all the gym is focused on is charging £3 for non-attending FREE classes. What a joke. Really considering going back to pure gym.

  • Nick Tasame

You can’t study there properly due to the kids screaming and shouting at the computer section.the computers are soo laggy and are not up to date probably the last time they updated it was is 2009 the lady’s overthere don’t understand how noisy it is don’t recommend anybody coming to this library. Especially people who want to revise or study.

  • Sofiane Bey

Always a lot of noise, young and teenagers shouting, no one speaks with them, some people eats crisp etc and let the desk dirty. Receptionist staff really don't care, shouting as well, always talking/joking, there is not respect for people study, reading. It supposed to be quiet, it doesn't look like a library. Very bad place to study

  • Samira Saleem

Absolutely horrible staff was very bad I made a mistake and the fat woman no being ruse kicks me out the swiming pool and she says ur never aloud to come back but I went to reception and the lady on the desk said she not doing her job properly she also swore at kids who are only 10 tell them to get thef**** out of her poor

  • S&S J&L

I'm not happy with Abraham Moss Leisure Centre the gym is ok all our activities ok except swimming pool it's not clean inside of the water you can see lots of dirties and blackness in the shower area is also dirty all hair is around they have to have improvement looking after the leisure Centre.

  • A B

Cannot understand how come it’s so big but the steam room and Sauna are so small you can book on the app but not point it’s not monitored in anyway so extremely busy on weekends. Cannot connect machines to the my wellness app for some reason. Gym is well laid out with a good range of machines.

  • Uzma Afzaal

Appalling service. All the treadmills in the ladies gym have not been working for 4 months! They keep saying parts are on order. Tissue is always finished, flies in the ladies gym and the air conditioning not working in the mixed gym!! Very disappointing as the owners are not bothered.

  • Hnee

Plan to join as member and the staff gave me a trial day for free which is great. The pool is average, not that big, the changing and washing area was dark, smell and dirty. Too bad as it is so close to my home. I never back again since. Hope you can improve and make a better service.

  • Edgecumbe Vanbeck

I DON'T actually hate the place. I have told Google that I have no wish to comment on it. BUT I'VE BEEN REPEATEDLY IGNORED. I had a meeting there which lasted for 30". The meeting happened to be a waste of time. Rather like Google's persistent ignoring of their contributors feedback.

  • Katarzyna Rudawska

The water in the pool was too cold for Kids, Changing area was in disgusting condition, there is no space to put your things (with two Kids its quite a lot) while you trying to put it i the locker. Its a shame there is no a nice place with swimming pool and slides for Young kids...

  • Inayat Ullah

Amazing place with very friendly staff, includes a library which you can borrow books from. I mainly go for swimming as they have 2 gigantic pools. They also havenspkrts facilities such as football pitches and squash halls etc. Also there are many opportunities given there as well

  • Ibrahim

Came here for the toddler swimming pool but it was 0.8m long and to my suprise, it was a little dirty for my liking. It was quite on a weekend and they have some toys and floating rings. There's a shared changing rooms and a shared shower area which is not ideal for some.

  • Natalie

Took my son for swimming lessons here for a few weeks. It was okay but instructor seemed like he couldn't be bothered teaching the children properly. Never got in the pool with the less confident/nervous children. I ended up taking my son for lessons elsewhere.

  • Sadia Kanvil

My kids have used the swimming pool 1 as it has officially opened today. It was awesome. The changing rooms, the swimming pool and everything was awesome. The staff was nice. I didn't like the way some teens were there especially around less than 10 years old.

  • Rebecca Keary

Great new gym and swim facilities, however no wifi. Only wifi is the library which isn’t strong enough when in the gym. Scan to enter also doesn’t work so you have to wait at reception to get access. Would be easier if you can just book and scan at the gate

  • Kawki Farzam

Very unprofessional staff specially the manager. Disappointed me so many times with ladies gym and time table. I advise all females not to join their Ladies Only gym because you can only use it 2 hours in a week and its always booked for school activities.

  • penina schogger

Two of my children attend swimming lessons here and are thriving, the teachers are lovely and engaging and every staff member I have come across in the centre has been friendly. The changing rooms and pool are well kept and clean. I highly recommend :)

  • Khalid Mahmood

Currently under new reconstruction, we reopen in August 2023. Always good amount of gym and swimming activities available including badminton, can't wait for it to reopen and joing the gym and swimming that I've missed for well over two years waiting!

  • Dolores McKay

Went for an early morning swim for the first time this morning, and was very pleasantly surprised, everything about my visit I could not vault...The pool and changing area were so easy to access, lovely atmosphere all round. I give it 5 ***** …

  • Umar Farooq

Good gym and swimming facilities. Only down side is that the changing rooms are communal and with young girls it becomes an issue if other people are males are getting changed and it becomes difficult to get all girls changed in the small cubicle

  • somerton64

Cannot get through by telephone and the website is just as bad! What a terrible waste of time its been just trying to book a slot for table tennis. I had to give it 1 star (couldn't leave it blank) it would get minus ones if it were left to me.

  • Sai Prasad puppala

The Big and Nice Leisure Center impresses with its vast array of amenities, including a crystal-clear pool, a state-of-the-art gym, and various sports facilities, all complemented by professional, friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere.

  • Sucre M

I wish they would give as an update on what’s happening to the refurbishment, as this was a leisure centre that catered to the wider community. It was cheap and had a ladies section. Would be really helpful to find out any updates.

  • T F Raza

Nice place... library, gym, ladies gym, pool and many more activities.. parking can be scarce during busy times but there is nearby street parking too and tram stop at the door step. Staff can be really good or frustrated at times.

  • Kashif Mehdi

Lovely place. Did the Family time swim. Nice changing area, lockers, WC and showers. Good swimming pool. Very polite helpful staff. Attached with a nice library with lots of books and computers. Comfortable sitting. Free parking.

  • Klaas Klaas

It is not a library, always a lot of noise , young , teenager talking , playing , children , no one speak with them . It's very boring and hard to focus , to study here . Library should be quiet place , people read and study !

  • Farha Hanif

You can return and take books out on a self service system! Didn't realise i could....super convenient and so easyGreat selection of books, especially for kids and free hot drinks and Mince pies this coming Tuesday! X …

  • Nicole Shaw

The new centre is amazing, staff at the centre are lovely, well mannered and can't do enough to help you. The centre itself is clean and well kept and the pool is beautiful and well lit. Nothing like the old centre!!

  • iAm xSultxnx

Swimming is a great opportunity for Both children and Adults! The pool is quite large wheras the deep end is frightening to children. The pool in ROCHDALE leisure is Much, much bigger than the one in ABRAHAM MOSS.

  • Matt Tyler

The only good thing there in Christine and the brown haired woman she works with, when I go. They are the most helpful ones. Ian the assistant manager is a waste of space. Only go at is the nearest one to me.

  • Ali Hammosh

Not that bad. But very noisy, lots of kids and loud chatties so not suitable for studying or calm reading. Computers are limited fir 2 hours use only. Unfortunately no other near options. Staff are helpful.

  • Emoke Mihai

Small gym but has got a lot of machines , swimming pool also small not recomended when they have swim for all, use only when adult swim otherwise you sit in a corner, I like it though it's close to my house

  • Zameer Mirza

Only ever use the indoor 5 a side pitch. Which is perfect for 10 people or even 12. Proper goal nets. Could do with AC in the summer. Been using for over 20 years and staff are polite and friendly.

  • dnnd sndnnd

is there any update on the refurbishments for this place ? as the women’s only gym benefitted a wide range of people aswell as other facilities an update would be appreciated ! thank you very much

  • Vian Hassan

  • Jav q

Absolutely awful. The showers are ALWAYS dirty. Smells absolutely disgusting at all times! The gym itself is decent. But the changing rooms are very off putting

  • Elaine Okoro

I went as a stall holder no windows and lack of consideration /protection to shared use and access to toilets for children with adults from non-leisure customer

Dirty and smelly. Very small pool, staff very confused, too many kids, lifeguard not interesting at all what is happening in the pool, NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL

  • H Abbas

Staff seemed like they couldn't care less. If you asked them something they rolled thier eyes and shrugged their shoulders. Quite rude really.

  • Peretz Tabor

Experienced anti semitic abuse when using the library with my yoing daughter. The staff were supportive, but I didn't feel safe being there.

  • Mariusz Kusmierek

We are using swimming pool quite regularly, but it could do with cleaning. Quite a lot of dirt on the bottom of the pool and changing rooms.

  • Joanne Proctor

Water in the small pool is just the right temperature for young children. Lockers wouldn't take a round trolley token but took a £1 coin

  • Chrissy Cross

The Aqua class and teacher was brillant. But 25 people in a Aqua class, only 18 changing rooms and only 5 showers, bad planning design.

  • krispy mackrel

It's an alright gym with reasonable prices and commuting is real easy with the bury to manchester metrolink stopping right outside it.

  • Omid Qadry

It is a good place but the swimming pool isnt clean it is full of hair abd other stuff and i have seen some people spit in the water.

  • Anwar Chaudhry

An improvement over the old leisure centre and library complex. Friendly and accommodating staff showed me around on the open day.

  • Maria Collins

Swimming lessons are fantastic, activities for all the family - pool table, table tennis, me and the family are very impressed!!

  • Hamza Mahmud

Badminton courts have a low ceiling with low lighting fixtures seemingly perfectly designed to catch shuttles! Otherwise fine.

  • Mohammed Afzal

Only visited sports centre and was shocked to see racial comments on board. Why stress yourself, keep away and stress free.

  • Noman Akhtar

Paying 35 for a council gym, open timing is awful, A JOKE, THE SAUNA IS THE EXACT SAME AS IT USED TO BE BEFORE RENOVATION…
