Had a fire start in an outlet quite unexpectedly on a Sunday night and we are so thankful to have found Advantage Electric through a Google search. They were able to send Jake out to our house within the hour, and though there was a fee for emergency weekend service, it was more than fair and Jake was able to quickly understand our issue and get us taken care of the same evening. We had a follow-up visit to resolve a few more issues at the non-weekend rate yesterday, Monday 11/21 and had both Chris and Bill at our home to work through the absolute rat's nest that is our home's wiring. Chris and Bill very quickly resolved a number of issues with our home's internal wiring and also identified that when we had our electric service panel replaced/upgraded in July of 2020 that the other company we used for that work not only did not do the work correctly, they did it in a dangerous manner that is not safe, legal, or up to code. Bill and Chris took the time to explain not only what was wrong with how our new panel was installed by the previous company, but also explained why it is dangerous in a way that I understood. They very quickly rewired the outlet that burned up in the house, running new wire all the way from the bedroom down to our service panel faster than I thought possible. The entire time they were at our home they treated us exceptionally well and I felt like I was talking to friends I've known for years and not people that before yesterday were complete strangers to me. After they resolved our issues and left, I got a call from their office almost immediately and was told that Bill was so concerned about what he found at our home that he wanted to make sure I had some additional information so I can follow up with not only the previous electrical contractors we used for our panel replacement, but also so that I can follow up with the inspector that passed the work without taking a look at how the wiring was connected from the meter down into the service panel. They even took the time to provide the name and phone number of the electrical inspector that covers our town so that we can follow up. They even found the permit number for when we had the work performed back in July of 2020. This is so far above and beyond the service I've received from other vendors in this area over the past 7 years that I will recommend Advantage Electric to all friends and family that need any work done in the area. This company treated us like people that they cared about, not just another customer. That is exceedingly rare, and we will absolutely be repeat customers.

Hands down one of the best experiences I've had with any home service company! Here's why: We wanted simple outdoor outlets installed on our deck (for lights, music, etc.) so we called one of Advantage's large competitors first and I was informed that codes changed in 2020 and I needed an additional circuit run to the garage. Unfortunately, this is a fact. However, I was then given 7 options (yes, 7) ranging from $7,000 (to use the last circuit on my 200A panel and install a measly 2 outlets on the deck) to $25,000 (installation of 3 new panels that could power our house using lightning from the heavens) and they said, "We'll go wait in our van for 15 minutes while you decide which option you want and then we can get to work." Clearly, I told the salesmen thanks but no thanks and paid them the $59 for their insulting sales pitch and declined their offer. I then scoured Google for honest reviews and Advantage stood out as the clear winner based on other customers' experiences. I called their very polite scheduler and within an hour Oneida (manager) called me just to ask more detailed questions about the job (like how on earth I have an almost full 200A panel -- and yes, it was almost full). She said I'm going to send Jake out to take a look and help you sort this out. Jake comes and is the utmost professional, used electrical terms that I could understand, and was there to help us FIX our problems vs. SELL us something. He problem solved our current electrical needs and what we'd use in the future (I.e. kitchen remodel, installing a garbage disposal, and plugging in hybrid vehicles using Level II chargers). Their quote to solve our problems was literally 1/3 the price of the Cadillac option given by their competitors and based on the integrity displayed by Oneida and Jake alone, we went with Advantage. When Zack and his crew came to install the work, they were all super professional, respectful, and did the job as stated (and in the cold, damp weather!). The city inspector just left our house and he said the work is of really great quality. He was impressed and so are we. We'll 100% use Advantage for any future home electrical needs and are actively promoting them to our neighbors and friends. I had a partial outage at my house at 10 PM on a Sunday and was worried it was due to a problem with my electrical panel. After a quick Google search, I saw that Advantage was open 24 hours and gave them a call. Someone picked up almost immediately, and they forwarded my information to the electrician on call who got back to me within 15 minutes or so. I talked through the issue with him for a few minutes, and since I still had power on some circuits (most importantly the furnace) he advised that I wait rather than paying the weekend fee, and referred my info back to the office where they would call me back as soon as normal business hours started. That ended up being the right call, as I was able to test the panel with a voltmeter in the morning and found that one of the service legs had gone out. When Advantage called me back, they suggested that I report this to Xcel and have them troubleshoot, which I did. It turned out to be a bad connection at the pole, which Xcel replaced quickly to restore full power. Though I did not actually require any service from Advantage, I found it very reassuring to be able to call someone about a major issue like this at odd hours, and more so that they were very professional in their assistance. I appreciate that they were measured in their response and not overly quick to send someone out just to get a little business from me, despite that I was a little panicked, as the cost would have been significant (though fair). Because of that, they will be at the top of my list when I need assistance in the future either for emergency or planned service. It is also especially nice to be able to get service like this from a small, local business.

Advantage Electric has such a great and knowledgeable team!! Pleasant interactions from our 1st call into the office to the team on site to sign off documents. We had a LARGE PROJECT of rewiring our whole house from it's original knob and tube. The quote process was quick and they broke it out so I could do the work that was best for my budget - even if it took years. No pushy sales tactics to get me to spend more, just clear prices and ways I can set up electric for how we live in the house. Zach and team were scheduled for the work and were so respectful of my home. They were scheduled for 4 full days and the whole time they treated my house like it was theirs and were mindful of my Internet connection since I work remotely. I was really surprised at how few interruptions I had to my Internet - honestly I probably interrupted them more with questions as they showed me what they were doing. If I could give them 10 stars I would! Zach and the whole team made a large, kinda invasive, project fun and manageable. A big mess had to be made to do the work and they always cleaned up and left our house looking great! We're certainly ready to have our home back, but I really looked forward to seeing the team each day they were here. They went above and beyond in making sure my house was wired correctly and as safe as it could be. Even being sure the wires connecting to the house from the city supply lines were in top shape. Came home to my parents’ house tonight and couldn't get into the garage because there was no power. I thought it was just to the whole house but soon realized I had power in the main part of the house so I went to the electrical panel and without looking flipped the switch back on but found out the hard way when I went back upstairs into the kitchen and started smelling something electrical burning. I then noticed that the light switch receptacle to the kitchen sink overhead light was smoking and in fact, the face plate had melted and there was smoke on the wall around it. After turning all the switches off and removing the face plate and disconnecting the switch, I called the emergency electrical services number and when I spoke with Chris and Bill on separate calls, they were both very understanding about my fear of wondering if I really had the right switches turned back off and would there be fire to the insulation or wiring. Bill responded to my emergency request and arrive quickly after our conversation and was able to diagnose the issue and provide a new switch and face plate. This type of professionalism, empathy, kindness, and generosity that I experienced from Bill and Chris are why I will continue to contact this company for any further electrical issues that I might encounter. I will definitely be providing this company as a contact for anyone of my acquaintances that might need any electrical work performed.

I cannot overstate how great this company is. We needed to have a more modern outlet installed in our kitchen due to our "ancient" (25+ years old) microwave needing to be replaced. Jason came by and pre-inspected everything, telling me what was needed for the job to be up to code, and then Zac and Griffin did the actual work a few days later. Jason was ultra-patient with my many questions and Zac and Griffin were the epitome of courtesy, professionalism, and thoroughness. I couldn't believe how quickly they did the job, as I thought it would be daunting, given how old our house is. When Zac said "We're done." I was surprised to say the least. I can see why Advantage gets such stellar reviews. They are the best and I highly recommend them for any electrical work, whether it be a small job like ours was, or a major one. And, by the way, we will definitely use them for all our electrical work going forward. Props to Jason, Zac, and Griffin. Friendly, polite, and conscientious - you couldn't ask for better employees!

Believe the hype! I reached out to Advantage based solely on the reviews posted and I'm glad I did. I live in a townhome and the HOA's "recommended" electrician was several weeks away from even being able to come by to look at the work I needed done. Advantage, in contrast, was exceptionally responsive. Onaida, the office manager, scheduled me with Jake who walked me through the logistics of what I needed. My major project was installing an independent circuit in my master bedroom to support a Toto bidet toilet. Jake got me estimates and the work was scheduled immediately thereafter. Zac was the electrician who came and installed a couple of new outlets and then Jake came and helped with the independent circuit. All was done quickly, efficiently and inspection scheduled and completed lickety-split. I could not have asked for a better experience. (Also, my rescue dog kept barking his head off and trying to attack them the entire time they were working. It is a miracle that they didn't get more annoyed.)

Loved working with these folks! Shelly answered my calls and helped me get the work promptly scheduled. She was extremely friendly and helpful. The next day, Jason came and performed the work in my basement. He explained everything very thoroughly (and also noticed another hazard that I wasn't aware of)! Everything was completed in an extremely time efficient manner. He was super friendly and I enjoyed working with him. As a new homeowner I'm not sure familiar with how pricing works. For reference, I had a new dyer outlet installed on the opposite side of the room as my electrical panel and it was ~$1,200. It sounds like COVID-19 has impacted the cost of the electrical wire as well as the new 2020 Code Requirements. Thank goodness for Advantage Electric. Jake was amazing! We were in the process of selling my parents house and needed the mast and meter replaced. I was trying to get the repairs covered by insurance due to our last big snow storm. State Farm didn't feel there was adequate proof to pay the claim. Jake went out of his way and sent pictures and extra information to State Farm to try and help me. While all this was taking up a lot of time, we were getting closer and closer to our closing date on the house. Advantage Electric came out, took care of the repairs and did an excellent job even though things weren't settled with the insurance company. State Farm eventualy denied our claim but Jake worked with us and was able to bring the price down a little to make it more affordable for my parents. Thanks for all your hard work!

Really impressed with Advantage Electric. We had a very bent service conduit from a falling tree branch/storm damage and are in the process of doing a full Overhead to Underground conversion. In addition our dated main panel needed replacing. When I called Advantage, Shelly was very helpful and knowledgeable about what kind of work needed to be done. She walked me through the steps and answered all my questions. We got on the schedule quicker than I expected. Jason, Chris and Bill were very professional, communicative and informative. Jason came to do the initial evaluation but ended up staying all day to finish the project. He gave detailed information on what needed to be done and why. The work looks terrific. We know who to call for future projects.

I had a collection of electrical work for my house that I had been putting off. Advantage Electric's team was efficient, clean, and informative. Jake did a great job estimating the work and giving me an accurate quote with options to remove pieces to save money. Jason, Griffin, Mark, and Chris all helped out throughout two days to complete all the work; dealing with annoying old home things well. They kept me informed throughout the process of what was happening and was considerate of power outages affecting wi-fi in case I was working from home on a call. There was a bit of miscommunication with the scheduling of the inspection but they were very responsive to my questions. Will definitely recommend and use Advantage again in the future.

An overnight storm ripped the electrical service mast and meter enclosure off our house. We called Advantage the next morning and they were onsite in less than an hour. Bill was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, presenting us with a few different options to consider. We talked through the pros and cons of each option, picked a repair path, and Bill started work immediately. After working at a very impressive pace for about four hours, everything was wrapped up and we were back in business. I have worked with a number of other electricians in the past, but none come even close to the fast, friendly, efficient and fair service we received from Advantage. Advantage Electric installed a new circuit panel for a dishwasher and garbage disposal in our kitchen, and also hardwired a flood light/security camera system above our garage. Chris, the electrician, was very friendly and knowledgeable, and he explained his work well. He was efficient in completing the day's project and also talked us through options for future projects so we could estimate what to expect down the line. Our dishwasher retrofitting project is my first foray into home renovation, and Chris made me feel more confident by explaining that I could always reach back out to him if anything needed to be changed or reformatted. Based on this experience so far, we would certainly recommend Advantage Electric to others!

Jake and his team are fantastic. We had all remaining knob and tube replaced, and it was a BIG project. The price was very fair, and the work was top notch. Everyone worked to get lights, switches and outlets exactly where we wanted them, and they didn't give up until they got it done! They managed to cut a minimum number of holes in walls and ceilings. We were extremely impressed. Everyone on the team was polite and courteous, and they all got along well and seemed to really enjoy their work. We recommend them without reservation and will use Advantage Electric again. We should also mention that the quotation process was very fast, scheduling the work was amazingly fast, and making changes on the fly was a seamless process.

Advantage Electric was amazing to work with from start to finish. Their technician was on time and took the time to talk through likely scenarios in our 1915 house. We were addressing some flickering lights and had already had Xcel out to check. The technician tested and tightened wires in several locations both inside and out. He also gave us his cell # to follow up, and recommended that if the issue continued we call Xcel back to check their work (which we ended up doing, and they fixed the issue the 2nd time around.) Still pleased with the thorough service and explainers we got from the technician. While he was here he also resolved 2 additional issues we had with wiring in different rooms. A++ all around!

Unlike other electricians, Advantage Electric let me know up front exactly what rates they would charge for which services. Zach arrived within the scheduled service window and replaced the ballast element in my fluorescent lighting fixture in record time, all within the first hour. Zach had to get the replacement 40W T12 2-4ft lamps ballast from the nearest Home Depot and only marked up the part $20 over Home Depot's retail price. Other electricians will mark the parts up 100% and more. Altogether, I'm very impressed with the speed, quality, and NOT being gouged with excessive replacement part(s) mark-up for my fluorescent lighting fixture repair from Advantage Electric.

I have never needed an electrician so I was unsure where to begin. I called a few places and they quoted me a fee to come out and would give me prices when they assessed the issue. When I called Advantage Electric the lady suggested some trouble shooting before she gave me prices. They gave me a rate per hour and I let them know I would call back. I’m SO GLAD I contacted them because the trouble shooting suggestions worked !! I feel so grateful that they valued me as a customer. I am currently unemployed and a full time mom so I can’t say how much I appreciate them. Thank you advantage electric ! We will definitely be calling you again with any electric issues we have.

Chris saved our behinds with his amazing service and kind soul. We had a little kitty stuck in a wall, and he was able to bring her out without cutting a hole in our wall (apparently a few saw strokes was enough to bring her out). I know he may get in trouble for this, but he did this on his own time for free. I know how businesses may feel about pro bono services, but through this we have become customers for life. They were great! They installed a transfer switch for my portable generator. They did an amazing job and installed way beyond my expectations (shoes off next time please). And, they did the job for the estimated price without an up-sell. I would recommend this company to anyone anytime for any job. So, my thermostat went out the same night and I was left without heat. I called Advantage and they showed up next morning. The tech was amazing - he went Home Depo and purchased a new thermostat and installed it shortly thereafter. This company amazed me with the transfer switch job and saved me with the thermostat job. Thanks Advantage!!’

Generally one of the best companies I have ever had work in our home so far since we've moved in we've found out that we have knob and tube wiring and our outlets are all ungrounde have gradually started to work on removing it they helped us to add new light switches new light fixtures and rewire the top room and gave us a very nice quote that seems very fair for the reat of the house to be rewired for them and us and their service techs are always On time, punctual, polite, and very professional We will continue to use this amazing company so long as they never change being awesome! Only regret is i cant give them 6 stars!

I had a wonderful experience with Advantage! Jake was very knowledgeable and reasonable in regards to pricing & was able to schedule me right away. Zach and Brooks did the work and it was outstanding! They worked all day to install a new meter and mast on my house. I got a quote for an additional new exterior light installation & had it partially installed, they noticed an issue with the existing wiring and will return to fix the issue for added peace of mind. I want to send a HUGE thank you to Advantage and recommend using Jake for any older home (i.e. knob & tube wiring). I was up against an extremely tight inspection window timeline on a pending home purchase in South Minneapolis and they were able to get someone out to the property the SAME DAY I called - special shoutout to Kayla for being so responsive. Everywhere else I called was unwilling to do it, or were booked out through the month. Jake (technician) was phenomenal and extremely knowledgeable about this type of system/home. If I go through with the purchase, Advantage will be getting my business.

I bought a house recently and when we went to change the light bulbs in the kitchen fixture, we found one bulb was totally melted. Being new homeowners with an older house, we didn't want to take the chance of accidentally damaging the fixture. We called and also asked about a few other issues we were having with other fixtures. Advantage recommended we get new fixtures and then they came by and installed them all for us. The tech was very kind and friendly and answered all of our questions. He also recommended what we might want to change out in the future and what to buy to do so. 10/10!

When a storm damaged our electrical mast, Advantage Electric were responsive and got us up and running that same day. Even though our work was complicated by requiring them getting us up to code, they did a terrific job with not only the repair but also stepping me through the process (city & xcel) visits that followed). The best feeling was during the final visit from xcel was done (finalizing the connection and retagging the meter), the tech said that it was "great work" and "it is a lot better than what we usually see pass city inspection". Nice work, folks!

Fast. Professional. Friendly We were in a bind after being given the run around by Early Bird Electric. (Don't hire them) We needed to update our breaker box and run a line to a new dishwasher for a buyer's inspection. Bill, Zach, and the team showed up within 30 minutes of us calling and finished the job in incredible time. Afterwards, Bill was very responsive in making sure we connected with the inspector to show up the next day. Inspector was here for only a couple minutes. That's how good their job was. Would definitly hire them again.

My bathroom outlet stopped working. The company was VERY responsive to my calls and emails. Chris was amazing and quickly changed the outlet. I own a 100 year old home and he also completed a full assessment of my electrical to identify any concerns. He was patient and answered all of my questions. I have never hired an electrician before so was nervous about the cost but it was affordable. I never felt like anyone was trying to up-sell me on anything. Money well spent. I will definitely be calling them again if I need an electrician.

High winds from a recent storm tore the electrical mast from the house where the power enters the basement. Wires were dangling and it was a potentially dangerous situation. Advantage Electric responded immediately and fixed the problem quickly and professionally. Bill Krause fully explained what needed to be done to correct the situation, and before I knew it, the work was complete. I would highly recommend Advantage Electric any electrical work you need. Advantage was great! Our job began last May. It was rather unexpected and last minute. They arrived the same afternoon to give an estimate. Because it was extensive and costly I needed to finance the job - I was able to do this through their company within minutes. The majority of the job was completed within a day, the remaining of it would have been but they had to wait for me to finish the remodeling. Today they came back, completed the job and I am very satisfied. I absolutely would recommend Advantage Electric.

I'm so thrilled to have found a local electrician! When I called, Ashley was helpful, knowledgeable, and efficient. With one call we were able to figure out the issue and schedule an appointment two days later. Jake, the technician, was able to diagnose and fix the problem all within one visit. He showed up on time and was friendly, efficient, and patiently explained what was wrong and how it was fixed. I had an electrical emergency and Advantage was able to send folks out that same day. Not only that they were able to come out earlier than first quoted, saving me a ton of time in my day. They were super helpful and friendly. They both fixed the issue that I had (in which I had a dimmer switch arc causing some outlets and and all of my kitchen appliances to stop working), but they also walked me through what had happened and what I could do in the future! Would definitely recommend!

This is my second go with Advantage Electric, and I requested the same electrician that serviced my home the first time, and the first contact representative made that happen! Having the same electrician was nice because they remembered my layout, which made troubleshooting more efficient and effective. Great customer service from when you call to setup an appointment, to the end when your electrician is walking out the door. These are the only electricians I will call for my needs.

I was fortunate to choose ADVANTAGE ELECTRIC to help us with an emergency on a Sunday night a year ago. After Bill was at our house, I knew I found MY forever Electrician. Bill and his ENTIRE crew are incredibly personable and professional. Each electrician, and the office staff are incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and responsive. Bill does not cut corners and he offers sound advice. Safety is at the forefront. I greatly appreciate the integrity and honesty of Advantage Electric!

We had Advantage complete two jobs for us - installing recessed lighting in our living room and repairing a broken circuit. Both times Zach and Chris were on time, professional, and took care to make sure the job was done well. When we had recessed lighting installed, we were told that we might be left holes in our wall or ceiling but Zach and Chris worked to ensure that wasn't the case. They seemed to genuinely care about our house and provided excellent customer service.

Jason gave us an estimate on a service panel replacement. He spent the time to spot all the aspects of the job, so that I am confident his estimate will be accurate and complete. I was impressed with his knowledge and thoroughness. Follow-up: The estimate I received was indeed thorough, but it was twice the cost of the estimate from another company for the same work. I decided this is why Advantage needs to charge for their estimates -- they rarely get to do the job.

Office responded within a couple hours of my contacting them through Thumbtack. Technician came to house on time to give estimate; it was easy to schedule time for repair (I had to cancel the first time, but they were understanding and friendly); technician came on 2nd scheduled date and was on time. Very friendly, efficient, thorough, explained everything they were going to do. Will definitely call again. Thank you, Advantage Electric!

Had an outlet burn / flames shoot out when plugging in a vacuum - called and was immediately helped by Kala who answered and pulled one of their electricians off a job to come investigate. Chris who was working 5 min away could not have been nicer or more helpful. I would highly recommend this company, reasonably priced and friendly. I actually heard about this company via a friend recommendation who had used them in the past.

I had an emergency in the middle of the night, tried many companies who claimed 24/7 service. No one was willing to come out. Called advantage and the on call electrician came out at 1 AM and took care of capping the burnt wires. They followed up later in the morning and came out and fixed the issue. He was able to walk us through the entire issue professionally and helped us get a resolution without having to pay for an emergency stop. After an electrical emergency caused by Excel that left us without power and heat Advantage Electrical showed up within an hour of calling them and were able to restore power and upgrade our panel box and ground wire, which got damaged by the surge. They were professional, honest and reliable. They also advocated for us when we filed a claim through our home insurance. Would use again and recommend to anyone

I performed a DIY outlet replacement a while back and it finally bit the dust last night, taking out two whole rooms with it. Bill and his team are amazing (shout out to Jake and Ryan)! They are down to earth, honest, and real. They did the electrical hook up for our hot tub and they were on time, did in a timely manner, and left the space looking nicer than when they came. They even helped me with filling tips and other hot tub info, since it was my first hot tub experience. I would HIGHLY recommend this crew! Support local!

We needed to use Advantage after a storm took our power out. They came out as soon as possible and were great at communicating as they were on their way for the repair. Both of the electricians that came out were very friendly while also being extremely efficient in getting our power back up and running. We will certainly use them again as well as recommend them to anyone who may need an electrician.

We are very happy with our experience with Advantage Electric. A tree fell in our yard and pulled some lines off of our house on a Saturday. We weren’t sure if we’d find someone to fix it on a weekend. Advantage Electric returned our call very quickly and had someone to our house within an hr. Zach did the job at our house, he was very professional and personable. Very pleased with his service.

We had a wonderful visit and educational experience with Jake, who will send two option plans for our review and to help in decision making. Griffin & Mark initially looked at our electrical box; noted significant upgrades were needed in order to do the job, and immediately called Jake in for a consult. I had Advantage Electric install electric baseboard heaters in 2 rooms and relocate an exterior light. They were fairly priced (I got 3 bids), professional and communicative. We had quite a commotion with a few of our kids and a few of a friend's that were over but they worked around us and were still positive friendly. I highly recommend them and will be using their services in the future

Advantage replaced the remaining knob & tube wiring in our house. Like all old houses everything is just a little unique - we were happy with their flexibility, problem-solving, and ability to think on their feet. Some days went longer than they expected but Zac and his crew powered through to get the job done. They were all friendly, professional, and thorough. I would recommend them!

Advantage Electric worked out great for me and they had excellent service. They answered my call right away and were able to come out to my house on the same day. I had them install a Nest video doorbell and a new transformer so it was compatible with our old wiring. They were very upfront about the pricing and speedy with the installation. By far the best business I have ever used for work on my house. They were friendly, did fantastic quality work, and were transparent about time/cost of everything. Other shops tried to sell us upgrades we didn't need but Advantage talked us through a plan that made sense and any adjustments to the plan. I'll be pointing all family and friends to them going forward.

Needed troubleshooting for an outdoor outlet and also installed 2 new outlets (one indoor and one outdoor). Work was completed in a timely manner. Griffin communicated well throughout the whole process. Pricing was reasonable. Any mess was cleaned up prior to join completion. Would recommend and use again in the future.

Other than some spilt glue on my computer mat next to my main service panel, things went pretty smoothly. Took slightly longer than 3 hours to remove and replace the bent service mast, install new meter panel, run SER cable to existing panel, add additional grounding and surge suppression. Wired for 200 AMP service.

Great experience, they were able to come out within 24 hours (would have been even faster if we'd wanted to pay the emergency rate), and Zac was a joy to work with and did not make us feel stupid when the issue turned out to be something we could have fixed ourselves. would absolutely use Advantage again.

Good quality and good professionals. When installing an outlet for a garbage disposal, I was reminded I'd need a switch to use the disposal. The electrician was super nice and helped recommend a cheap and easy work around I could use to make sure everything would still work!
