I love this place. I could speend hours in here browsing. Only downside is that if you're looking for something specific you may have to spend hours browsing. There are books EVERYWHERE. The staff f is usually helpful and certain staff have a general knowledge of where everything is and can help you find it. I went in with a list once and the gentleman helped me find everything. Titles he didn't have or couldn't find he ordered for me and then phoned me back when they were ready for pickup. Overall excellent experience.

The one time I did come here.. they didn't have one book I was looking for. It was ridiculously difficult to find what I was looking for because the place was so disorganized. They place is falling apart and seems like a hazard honestly. The owner was kinda odd and not overly friendly. I would not reccomend this shop. There are so many better book store that are better quality with better prices. But you can tell the owner does not care to improve. Will never come back here.

An extensive selection of books of and for all ages, and really great deals/prices in the store and on the tables outside too. I always go by looking for one or two specific books and leave with at least 2 or 3 I never planned on getting, but I also don't at all regret it. If you like stores where you are completely surrounded floor-to-ceiling by books that are both chaotically placed and pretty well organized, then I'd absolutely recommend this store to you.

Don't be fooled by the small footprint. All Books is the Tardis of Ottawa bookstores. If you are looking for a great book you will find it here. I searched much larger and much trendier stores for Jan Morris' Trieste. Admittedly the book is pretty arcane and I was all set to revert to Amazon when the proprietor after one moment's thought reached up and put a very good copy in my hand. From now on my search begins with All Books.

  • John Falk

I found a book for $5 inside the store, and brought it to the counter. While the guy was asking me about any other books I was looking for, I watched him replace the sticker price tag with a $10 one. I didn't call him out because I knew I would never be back and I still wanted the book. Anyway, don't forget to check out and support your local library, you'll get better service and it won't cost you a dime.

An awesome little gem of a local bookstore. Used and new at excellent prices. They have a comprehensive selection of capital-L Literature (I was able to find Dorothy Sayers' translation of Inferno, which I had almost given up on finding). Very much peak independent bookstore vibes: small, cozy, every corner filled with stacks and stacks of books.

A must visit if you’re nearby! Don’t go in expecting to find something. There are stacks of books upon books. It’s easy to lose time in there and you are always bound to find something you like! During the warmer months, the amazing shopkeeper puts out stalls with books which are on sale. They offer great deals! Be sure to visit!!

  • Janet Irwin

I like this bookstore a lot. I went in today looking for a copy or copies of Brian Doyle's Angel Square - the quintessential Ottawa Christmas story - and left with two copies at great prices. This, with a quick chat, took less than three minutes. The owner was friendly, helpful and knew his stock! Plus it's quirky and independent.

  • Steve St. Pierre

Stopped in on a rainy Wednesday prior to the third wave, or is it the fourth, of the pandemic. There's a sentence I never thought I'd write. A store filled to the brim with decent curation and respectable prices. Kind and welcoming service. Someone give this man and his books some more space to stretch their legs.

  • Heather Mitchell

best book store in ottawa. full of character, helpful staff, and the books are obviously chosen by people who read a lot of good literature. Great deals on lightly used classics. The store is very tightly packed and often rather cluttered so don't bring things like bulky backpacks

  • Nammi Nguyen

Nice lil bookstore. Like all second-hand bookstores, you definitely have to spend a bit of time browsing to find what you’re looking for. Tons of books and the owner was really nice. I found the prices a bit more expensive than other used-bookstores but still not bad

  • Melanie Savoie

The store is PACKED. It was difficult to navigate, especially with other customers around. That said, it was so worth it. I found everything I was looking for in that tiny store. The selection is great. To top it off, the store clerk was really friendly and nice.

  • Eric

All the books are ridiculously piled half hazardly. The place is a mess. Staff is unwelcoming. Prices jacked way up, almost the same price as brand new books. Wouldn't be surprised if this place went out of business within a year or two. Needs new management.

  • inga

loved this store! Great books, many genres of books, everything I want in this store! Manager was very nice and helpful and knows where all the books are! I got everything I need and wanted for a while from the store! Will come back again! ❤️ …

  • Matilda Kelli

WORST BOOKSTORE IN OTTAWA. If i could give this a -1 star I would. The place looks disgusting and is very messy. The people that work there are rude and unhelpful. I would never go back there and would never recommend anyone to go there either.

  • Liz J

Found extremely rare books here, authors I didn't know I was going to love, and all manner of mind-blowing brain candy. And honey, that was just the first shelf I found. Bring lots of cash and be prepared to dig! Best used bookstore in Ottawa!

  • Jer Hurdis

All Books has always been my favourite book store in Ottawa. Few used book shops have decent selections of philosophy or history like this one. The place is crammed with piles of books, and searching through them can yield some exciting finds.

  • Michel Labelle

Terrible! Really messy and owners do not care. Was told if books fall over do not worry about them. There is no real order - can't even walk thru aisles. And books I did find were more then half priced of original cost! Never going back!

  • Dmitry Krizhanovsky

Great selection and excellent pricing. Difficult to find anything - the store is really small and the piles of books everywhere, but just ask the owner to help you find what you are looking for - he is quite knowledgeable!

  • Harry Daignault

Great used book store with an impressive assortment of classics and philosophy. The owner is very helpful if you’re looking for something specific. Would highly recommend stopping here before buying new books.

  • Benjamin Parks

My favorite Ottawa bookshop! Right next to the ByTowne Cinema, so you can hit two birds with one stone. The store is almost literally bursting with books, and Mark, the owner, is knowledgable and helpful.

  • Shashank Padmasola

Loved the used book store. Owner was so friendly and helpful. There was something beautiful about this book store...small and simple made me feel at home unlike those large book stores where I feel lost.

  • cathcartsquare

This is a true neighborhood book store. Over the years, we have donated our books to this store knowing that they will be sold locally at great prices so other people in our neighborhood can enjoy them.

  • Sayan Bhattacharya

A bookshop with the feel of a library! They have an awesome collection and offer great deals on used books. You will enjoy speaking to Mark who manages the bookshop.. a must visit place for booklovers!

  • Sharmeen Abedi

Really nice bookstore, great selection in literature, history, politics, religion, children’s books. It’s a great place to browse around and find rare books, and the owner is very friendly and helpful.

  • Marilyne

Grande variété de choix! Une vraie belle librairie avec plein de pile partout. Il y avait une vente trottoir de 5 livres pour 1$! L'homme était super gentil, je retournerai à cet endroit c'est certain!

  • Shaena Thomson

A wonderful store. The store has a wonderful variety of books. There was a sale when I went there, due to the fact, there are so many books! I got a great deal. All I have to say is great books.

  • Suzanne Aasheim-Sorensen

Cannot recommend this place enough. Very friendly shopkeeper and amazing selection of books packed into an adorable and eclectic shop! There is also amazing deals on all the times I've been.

  • Cam

The worker was very helpful about getting the books I needed. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Selection is fantastic for such a small store and interestingly very organized. Love this place

  • Maria Bustos

The worker/owner is super helpful, clearly has a visual memory for everything he has because he can just tell you if he has it or not, when the last time he had it was, very easily.

  • Julian Worker

A typical second hand bookshop with lots of books piled everywhere. This makes browsing a delight as you find books that you have always intended to read when you least expect to.

  • B Milne

Great little hole-in-the-wall used bookstore, provided you don't mind playing Jenga as the stacks begin to topple. Run by a super nice guy, which adds to the experience.

  • Keith Williams

Do any used booksellers in Ottawa wear masks? I mean don't get me wrong, the owner was wearing a mask but it only covered his chin....maybe he breathes thru his chin.

  • Al S

The place is a mess, and the owner is quite weird and complain about other customers. However i found the book i am looking for, so i should not complain much :D

  • Allan Desroches

Easily the best of all the book stores I visited in the city. I found the staff approachable and helpful. The owner is right in the shop and was quite friendly.

  • Audrey Nakogee

The owner is helpful when you are looking for a certain book. He will look it up for you. I like shopping books there. Also he has good sales on good books.

  • Revolutionary Healing

The owner is a very reasonable and easy going person, and you can usually find exactly what you're searching for here when you can't find it anywhere else.

Its a great little bookstore with good pricing on both used and new books. The stock is 90 per cent paperback and trade paperback, not much in hard cover.

  • Laurent De Serres Bérard

Give a second life to a book. Cheap used books in pocket format. You'll find something there for you its sure, and be happy to pay only 1/10 of the price

  • Nicolas Graf

Very well curated collection, especially classics. Somewhat pricey for used books but they are all in good condition so its understandable.

  • Adam J

Nice little quaint bookstore. The books are stacked very high and the variety is massive. Take some time to browse as there are some gems.

  • Kathy Mihill

Very helpful staff. My kids were in awe of the stacks and stacks of books. It is cramped though, so not wheelchair or stroller accessible.

  • Emma Schuster

Used bookstore absolutely packed with great finds! Owner is very personable and definitely knows his stuff. Can't wait to come back :)

  • Daniel Richardsen

Per square inch, this is the best bookstore in Ottawa for anyone interested in literature, history, philosophy, and poetry.
