This fantastic shop is about 30 seconds from my front door, which is a little dangerous, but it’s always a great experience to call in. Superb range of well chosen wines and spirts. They have everything you could possibly need, from all the major wine producing regions to more esoteric offerings, along with a great selection of vermouths, sake, and much more. There’s also a considered effort to make a wide range of price points available, whilst ensuring quality and value at all times. The best thing about this shop however is the staff. Stefano and his team always make customers feel so welcome and are very happy to talk through their products in a tremendously knowledgeable and passionate way, but without a hint of pretension or condescension. It’s always an educational experience to shop here, but also just really nice to chat with these guys for a bit. Fab shop! I’m so lucky to have this place as my local.

The City Beverage Co. is a treasure trove for those looking to whet their whistle with something out of the ordinary. Specialising in fine wine I am told that the staff are very knowledgeable and that there are occasional tastings. I also believe that it is possible to open a credit account for your supply and to have it delivered to your home. Personally I have been availing myself of their well stocked fridges of imported and UK craft beers. Nowhere else have I found Brooklyn Summer ale, for example (a delight). Prices are about what you'd expect - around £2 - 3 per bottle or a little more for strong beers. Only some bottles are price labelled though so ask to see the price list while choosing, to avoid any surprises at the till.

Really helpful staff on hand. A blessed relief to have super knowledgeable but not condescending help on hand to answer your questions. The odd sample didn't hurt mind you - but the selection of wine and spirits on hand was pretty impressive given the outside is pretty understated. Gin, check. Fancy scotch, check . Chilled wines, check. The manger Maisie (and Chloe) creates a great atmosphere (yes an atmosphere in a wine shop!) by being attentive yet giving you the space and peace to browse on your own. Have yet to try an event, but it's on my to do list!

I came Looking for ingredients for the perfect Gin Martini. These people really know their stuff. I live round the corner. Proud to say that when it comes to buying the Christmas Claret or stocking up the drinks trolley this is the place to come. Admist the WILDNESS of a Shoreditch Saturday night; this shop is a reasoned bastion of excellence. Here is where you get your Wines Spirits and a fabulous collection of crisps n stuff. Oh and no l don't work for them, just a proud local that LOVES their stock...and a sweet soundtrack. Come on down xxx

Amathus Drinks PLC have purchased the esteemed business of the City Beverage company, located in Shoreditch, London. The excellent product range and services provided by the CBC have been continued and improved by Amathus. Established in 1978, Amathus Drinks Plc is a London based national drinks distributor, importer and specialist retailer offering a complete drinks solutions. Wine and spirit tasting sessions are frequently held in store, with a host of experts on hand to talk guests through a regular series of guided masterclasses.

I'm very sad to have to post a negative review, but I called ahead twice to check if something special was in stock (not oisted online), and then asked it to be put aside for a few hours so I could take my lunch break and head over. In that time someone came in and asked for it, and it was sold to someone else. This was for our wedding, I've been hunting and made sure multiple times it was in stock, and on hold, and they sold it. Very disappointed and upset.

The best compliment I can give is that I always end up spending way more time and money than I set out. Every person there genuinely cares about their wine and take the time to listen, get to know what you like, then make recommendations. Their suggestions always span price ranges so it’s not just “this is most expensive” every time. I’ve discovered a lot more than I knew before going, and each visit introduces something new.

my favourite purveyor of spirits and coffee in east London. It has pretty much everything you need. Bottle of good gin before going to a house party? Need some good bourbon for a rainy weekend? Need some good coffee? you can get everything there. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable.

A proper shop where the owners care, the goods are quality and value still makes an appearance. Friendly and knowledgeable actually help you make a selection without trying to grab every penny out of your pocket. A proper wine merchant that offers great teas and coffee...one of my regular haunts

Always a place with great wines and great recommendations. Definitely sign up to their email list to get notifications for their events. They have a broad range of unusual spirits and mixers and it's worth talking to them to find out what is new in the shop.

Accidentally stumbled into this store with no regrets. The lady who served my partner and I was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. She allowed us to taste a selection of whiskeys which lead to my purchase. Will return someday when I am in England again.

Brilliant selection of wines, including fortified wines, and a small but excellent round-up of interesting beers as well. Staff are helpful and happy to take time to advise, prices are fair for the area.

The nicest most attentive and knowledgable staff. A killer range of wines and the hidden gem is the nice selection of great value coffee which they will grind to order for you.
