Was out in Portland to visit family for the week. My nephew was meeting a friend for drinks this night so I tagged along. It was not that far from my nephews house 15 mins roughly. Atmosphere was not bad. Local bar with a nice vibe to it. They had a pretty good seating area. Big tables , small tables and a decent size bar which is were we ended up sitting to interact with the bartender more and faster service. It have a good amount of Monitors so we could catch the football games and baseball. They also had some slot machines for those into gaming. Keno can be played to if you are into that. I was hungry so I ordered some food. They had a decent food menu. Appetitizers, wraps , burgers. I started off with their wings, because I like to try wings anywhere they are served so that I can compare. I ordered 10 wings half Buffalo and half Garlic Butter as recommended by the bartender. I also ordered a burger that you could build yourself that looked good when we first sat down and saw someone else eating one. I did want to have the clam chowder for a side, but the bartender encouraged me not to try it, so I stuck with the fries. Wings came out first and I thought they were good, the Garlic Butter was a bit much for me. It was good just too Buttery for me. The burger came out and that definitely was as good as it looked. I added mushrooms and Swiss cheese on mine. Service was a bit slow at first because we were sitting away from the bar and I'll give it to them that it was a bit busy when we first got there. An interesting thing happened when we were outside and the bartender came out to smoke. She asked my nephew his name, then asked if he was Lao after hearing his name and said " Sabai-dee" which is "Hello" in Lao. I was impressed. So brings us into the bar and to find out after chatting with the bartender that she knew the same people as my nephew. So was a good interaction which made a good night of conversation and drinking. Over all thoughts. It was a good spot to hang out at. The bartender made it comfortable to hang out. Service was good in all. Food was good. Was a good night out. Definitely will go back and try the spot again when I go back out that way. I would recommend anyone out that way to just try it out if you are looking for something simple and not fancy dining.

I usually have a pleasant experience with the exception of it being a bit loud when football games are on especially when the seahawks are playing but they are called fans for a reason it us short for fanatics and being a football junkie myself i understand but i went in on a sunday at noon when it was relatively dead to play video poker and had to wait nearly 20 min at the door to ask for a machine (all were available but one) and after deopping a quick $50 asked to switch machines when it became painfully obvious the one i was on was colder than a December night in alaska i was told that even though there was 5 other machines open that i wasnt allowed to switch machines. Im soery...is it that difficult to wipe one down and put the key in another to enable it after i just spent $50 in less than 15 min not including my food which is was hesitant to eat after i saw them set it on the bar to refill someones drink and nobody seated at the bar had a mask on and they were with in arms reach of my plate. I have a compromised immune system and refuse to risk my health or the health of the people i care about to eat my overpriced appetizers. Needless to say i wont be returning anytime soon which is unfortunate because it was a favorite place of mine to unwind and enjoy a drink with a little video poker.

I hesitate to even comment about this hidden gem. I don't want the crowds to converge... Somehow, there was a table available the moment we walked in. The service was prompt and friendly, and 4 adults ate until we couldn't move and had significant leftovers for $56, and everything was delicious! We had the huge nachos, which consists of a whole bag of chips, 2 lbs of ground beef, an entire bag of shredded cheese, a can of salsa, a can of jalapeños, 6 Oz of sour cream, and a whole tomato. One can only assume the goal is to lose money, because the ingredients alone are worth more than we paid. The chef's salad is bigger than the one I made for Thanksgiving, and a bowl of clam chowder is basically a whole batch from a typical recipe. The chicken quesadillas contain a whole breast, and let me say, it's delicious! I may never eat again. Everyone had a soda or beer and we still stayed under $60? Come on! If management finds out about it, the staff will be canned & prices doubled. (It will still be a deal, though.)

Was here yesterday must have tipped over $60 while gambling with a $40 tab. Came back as recommended by staff for taco Tuesday. Sit down order tacos and wait and wait and wait.... then see people getting tacos across the bar. Go up and tacos are gone. All I got was "sorry it was a busy night". Lots of empty tables.....Taco Tuesday 6-9. Gone before 8pm. Nobody told me to get my own. Made a trip and bought a drink for NOTHING. THEN I see the server making tacos and eating them in the back. Shouldnt your customers have come first? Whats even more messed up us if I had gotten 1 or 2 that would have been it. Couldn't even get a warning that they were running out! Totally disappointed. Definitely will NEVER come back. The least I could have gotten was a legitimate apology!

Went in for dinner as we do on frequent occasion during the good weather. Take the dingy over from the yacht that's moored across river. First thing young lady asked for was Vax cards we replied our party of 4 do not have them with us on the dingy.she said next time just take a pic of it and show me. We were asked to wait outside. Told 5 to 10 min wait. Waited for over 25 min outside as customers came out to smoke cigarettes and go back in . Whom were not even eating food. After 30 min wait went in to ask for take out they said they were only serving fried food because there is a game on and we don't have the wings you want . So after over 30 min wait and no food she thought it wasn't a big deal. not a nice experience.

Worst sports bar ever. Ricki the bar tender is very rude....she never smiles and has an attitude all the time. She looks as if she hates her job. She is disrespectful to customers and if she doesn't like you or you are too loud for her liking, she will kick you out. Basically....if you aren't a male she will refuse to serve you and will eventually run you out. Bathrooms are filthy and stink. Wouldn't even rate this but it makes you to leave a review. If you are looking for a way better sports bar that does not charge fees for fights.....go to Charlies in vancouver... more TV's, way more seating, better service and better food. It's an OVERALL BETTER SPORTS BAR!

Came up to stay a night in portland for my girlfriend's birthday and this place was A1! We had the wings. The sriracha bourbon sauce is the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. The burger. Extra cheese, salt, pepper any extra sauce. Awesome! And the wrap. Ohhh my lanta, THE WRAP!! HOLY HELL! It was amazing. I got the California wrap and added the chipotle to it and it was probably the greatest thing I had tasted. The people working on the 24th at 1030 PM, you guys are so great and you all create amazing food and drinks! Yes the drinks were fan-frickin-tastic. New reason to come to portland. Didnt have one before.

Love the new bartender! Super nice, dresses cute , nice friendly smile, good energy , was super attentive to a man playing poker even tho she was cleaning up for closing, he was trying to summons her super rude no manners , just cuz he wanted a beer and she was in the middle of 5 things a a few other costumers at the time, but she was so nice and polite to him. I wanted to say something to him but I did not want to start issues for her. Sunday night at closing on 07/24/22 she was super awesome she is a keeper!!!!!

3-7-20. 11:30am. Sat down, and waitress told me I had to remove my 1 Target shopping bag from the premises. They don’t allow bags or backpacks because of the homeless. Pretty sure I don’t look homeless!! Took the train down from Olympia to shop and have a couple drinks, no where to put my 1 normal size shopping bag, so had to leave. Are the owners and management really willing to turn down customers because of the homeless problem?? Guess I’ll spend my money elsewhere.

My fiancé and I love this little place. Whenever we’re in that area we go in there and have dinner and a few drinks. It is your typical little cozy seedy bar with some interesting characters in there. The food is always great as are the cocktails. The gals that work in their bust there tushes to make sure you have your drink and food. The best service I have seen in a long time. They are very friendly and fun to talk to . Keep up the good work gals!

  • Doug Y

Had been coming here for 5+ years. Until one night a certain bartender got mad at me because my friend threw his peanut shells on the floor after she swept our area! So I got 86'd permanently. He even told her it was him, but no, but didn't matter. Cindi, the manager I talked to didn't care, she backed up her bartender. Ok that's fine, you lost a good customer who came in 3-4 times a week to eat drink and gamble and who also brought others in.

  • Payton Standfill

Upon entering the first thing you'd think is "Oh, just another dive bar." but don't let the atmosphere fool you. The staff are all friendly, skilled bartenders and the drinks are strong but the true gem here is the food. All the food is made from scratch and I haven't found a bad thing on the menu yet! It's fantastic, the steamer clams are my favorite thus far and the hamburgers are out of this world! Try the Anchor, you won't be disappointed!

  • C.W. Koppe

New to the Island, mouth was dry. Thought I'd stop in and have myself a brew... When, low and behold Thursday Night Wing Night! I ordered me up a dozen at .50 cent a piece.. Wash down 6 of the succulent lil drummies with my brew. Finished the other 6 off with two of the Thursday night drink special, the "Golden Delicious". Delicious it was my friends, delicious it was. Great food, even better service. What a welcome to Hayden Island!

  • Leondre S.

Called for pickup order on couple occasions. 1 particular girl has the WORST customer service & no patience. Bad attitude the 1st time, 2nd time as Im speaking clearly & directly as possible she doesn't hear me and because of THIS she hangs up in my face after about a 40 sec phone call. Who does that? She may or may not be racist but what she should be is unemployed. Never calling or going here again.

Love to visit this place, we try to make it there once a week if possible... We have a great time playing the ding, dings. Very clean and the gals are very kind and prompt OMG! The phylie sliders are to die for love the music and as well the TV's sporting what's happening. Go have fun and take a chance❣️ who knows, you could walk out with more than you walked in with Best of luck

I needed a place on Swan Island to wait for a coworker who was visiting family, and he would be returning to his home with his wife, so a more politically correct establishment was needed. The Anchor Bar was a good choice and reasonably priced one too. I did make a mistake there, I ordered a big Hefeweizen, only to find out it was in a large German sized stein. Though I'd hardly call that a big mistake.

  • Katrina

I called in to order some chicken nachos... Omg they were amazing and I got a full order and it was A HUGE amount! I ate those nachos for a day and a half! They were so good! And there's also a Male bartender that is only there two days a week and he's really nice to look at as well:)

Chicken fried steak was freezer burned. Dani? Our waitress was terrible took my mimosa away when I asked her why my music wasn’t playing after putting money in the jukebox. Said she had no control over the machine. When I said she should put a sign on the machine she took my drink away from me. I had the bottomless mimosa’s & only had 3. What? She was power tripping

It's what you'd expect. The perfect little dive bar on the perfect little island. The best kept secret. Great happy hour menu and prices. Large cold beers. And a good selection of video lottery machines. Also their TVs are well up to date to handle any sports game that you'd like. After going the first time I went back three times in the same week

My new favorite spot! The staff are all fantastic and the food is amazing! I don't have any photos to share, but the portions are generous. Relaxed atmosphere - a little on the dark side, which is appreciated. Ali, Amber and Sage are the best crew ever!! I haven't tried anything there I haven't liked. Props to the cooks as well! Thank you Anchor!

  • Margaret Puckette

If you want to have a great burger and a beer. It's the top of my list. Juicy, thick, smothered in mushrooms, Swiss cheese on a fresh roll. Waitress staff is good but busy. The best part... video poker! I have to say I smoke, but sometimes those munchies need to be satisfied and a free lunch from Oregon Lottery.,.... sometimes.

  • David Cash

Ate breakfast here today (bacon & eggs) and it was excellent. Made me kick myself for eating breakfast at the Denny's across the street the other day. Anchor was SO much better, and less expensive to boot. I will never eat breakfast at Denny's again. My server Synthia was friendly and efficient. I definitely will be back.

We recently moved to a floating home in Jantzen Beach and discovered this gem. It’s fun and casual, great atmosphere and delicious nachos. A huge portion that we shared but could have fed a family of four. Everything on the menu looked super affordable. Very nice wait staff. We’ll be back. A lot.

  • Kelli Kat

There is a very rude bartender there . She did not greet us with a hi ladies instead she is the rudest person running off customers. Maybe it's time for a new venue honey. Or she is having a really bad day. I don't know but I'm not going back. I wish I knew her name so I could post it. Good luck!

I'm a trucker and been all over the great USA. and I just had some of the best wings ever. The food , service and prices can't be beat. They have giant beers too. Say hello to Danny (father wanted a boy) while you're there , Best and friendliest service ever. Thanks ANCHOR BAR I will be back.

  • Roger Alvey

This place is the classic neighborhood bar the drinks are strong, the service is off the hook good and friendly, and the food is great and best of all … it’s cheap! Chicken Fried Steak full breakfast -$10.00! Taco Tuesday features all the tacos you can eat for $4.00! This my new happy place.

  • Laura White

We love this place! Ali and Sarah are fantastic and the food....for a sports bar...unexpected and awesome! Breakfast: bottomless mimosas and the best pancakes on the planet. Lunch: the burgers are phenomenal. Oh. And did I say house made potato chips? To. Die. For. Don't pass this place up!

  • Matt Burns

Food, service and drinks are always excellent. It's my favorite place to go when visiting the area. Prices are pretty good, plus they have daily food and drink specials as well as a good Happy hour menu. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. They have TVs and Keno play is available.

  • JimboRides

Always the best Good bar and grills are hard to find, either bad food or bad staff. This place has nothing bad. Personal staff and a nice selection of food. We are there at least once a week, normally for Sunday breakfast with cocktails. Parking is tight but it is a fun place to go.

  • Dan Dehart

Love this place during football season!! Even if the guy next to you is throwing peanuts at you..... Loud, sports, passionate sports minded people! The bartenders here are amazing! Seriously. They basically have to babysit us... Bottomless mimosas is a bonus too if you're into that.

Anchor has been a good post-work (and sometimes pre-work, who are we kidding?) spot for the last year or so for me. I bartend on the island. Anchor is open late, has great happy hour grub, and the ladies (and Sage!) are always friendly and attentive. Gonna miss y'all

  • Sandra Delarosa

Great service and delicious wings! Like OMG! And the bartender Jen is Awesome! She rocks! And she's a cutie! Atmosphere is welcoming, and fun! It's definitely a hidden gem tucked away. It's worth going to, even though I'm coming from the Northwest, in The Pearl.

Very cozy spot for drinks & snacks. I enjoyed my time spent there! Very extensive & well prepared Pub style menu. Good specials on weekdays & Happy Hour!!

Food was extremely grease and over fried. Had a dark brown spot on my fish and fries were extra crispy. Had to wipe my fingers after every bite of fish.

Nice bar. Friendly bartender. Lots of TVs to watch sports. Comfortable seating. Nice place to watch the game while others are shopping at the mall.

Great service, friendly atmosphere, good food, plenty of parking, wheelchair accessible. We plan to go there again, we've been there for five times

Actually the best burger and fries I've ever had at a bar. Kind of bistro style, really very surprising. Pleasant bartenders as well. Recommended.

Taco Tuesday was cool. $3.00 for all you can eat! And sooner pretty nice bar maids to top it off, shoot I know what I will be doing on Tuesdays!

Great place. Made us feel like part of the family on first time visit. Breakfast better than Baileys and that isn't easy. Baileys is now closed.

They show UFC paperviews, but it's kind of locals only vibe. Nice servers but everywhere you try to sit is a reserved sign. Food OK not great.

Nice little place. Really good food. Best Rubens in town. And for a real treat you have to try the deep fried Pickles. Very tasty …
