A legitimate New Orleans institution for over 115 years. Famous for their gelato, Italian ice, Sicilian baked goods and cookies. Their cannolis and Napoleons are a must. I can’t stop buy without grabbing at least a dozen mini cannolis and a couple large chocolate dipped cannolis with candied orange peels on the end. It’s fall so their Satsuma Ice is in stock, as well as their Pumpkin Gelato for Thanksgiving. I could list 20 more items that I regularly get, but you’re going to have to go in yourself and do some tasting to really discover the greatness of this place. Dine in and have a coffee and dessert after dinner, or just pick up a whole lotta goodness to bring home to share with family and friends. Their staff is like family, as would be expected with a family run institution. Don’t forget to tip, because their staff is always slammed and never do you get served without a smile from a gracious server. I hope this spot stays forever. They were hit bad during Katrina but reopened without changing a thing. To go to somewhere like Whole Foods to get anything trying to replicate what they serve here would be blasphemy. I mean it when I say this place is the truth. Do yourself a favor and check it out. The line moves quickly so you better come in and take the minimal wait time to carefully look over all the options and be ready to make some hefty decisions when you’re on the clock. Thank you Brocato’s staff. We love you!

Oh, how I love this place. I literally stop by every Thursday night after grad school. I'm not even a licorice fan, but those anise drops are amazing. They were actually out of them a few weeks ago, but one of the ladies ran in the back and was able to find some for me. She even dropped a few extra in my box. I am a big fan of their ricotta cake, blondies, and Napoleons as well. Recently saw them on a television show where they talked about the cannolis. I have to agree that they are some of the best in the world. The store is always clean and I love that they rotate some of the items so that there is always something new each time you come in. I haven't tried the gelato, but it looks amazing and people are always there buying it. I will be there this Thursday like clockwork to get my sweet tooth fix. Cannot recommend these folks enough. This is true New Orleans!

New to Nola and wanted a good cannoli. 2 coworkers said to try Brocato’s. Liked that they were not prefilled. However, I ordered 2 dozen and took them over 15 minutes to fill them even though lots of staff standing around. They have a nice presentation. Shell was crunchy and tasty but that is where I disliked the cannoli. I am used to ricotta filled and these were some type of cream on one side and a chocolate on the other. Also found them to be a bit pricey 45 dollars for a dozen large and small size 22 for a dozen. I will look at other bakeries before coming back.

This place is too cold inside, often has long lines outside, and it's ok because the ice cream is creamy, real gelato, and it's the best place for ice cream in the city. The the pastries - (here we often have both at the same time) are authentic Italian - from Florantine torrone to the almond balls that you used to be able to light up the wrapping and watch it float - to the slices of tortoni (almond ice cream) and so much old-fashioned Italian funness. big old daddies and happy kids, after dinner or after lunch, the girls behind the counter are very friendly, and the tables are out of an old fashioned ice cream parlor. A New Orleans tradition.

  • Tst Mkr

One would think that with the constant line out the door and the extremely high quality products that this place would be expensive. It is very affordable. You can grab one of the best and fair portioned slices of tiramisu for less than $4.00. They also have hard to find items such as spumoni. Everything is done right and with care. Even though there normally is a long line, it moves very quickly as their staff is on point and ready to make things happen quickly. Definitely friendly place to take family, a date, the kids, anyone would enjoy this place.

The BEST gelato and ice cream. We had to eat here after. It was tqo days in a row... I love it. There is a perfectbseat for everyone and every taste. The little mezzainine as well as the qindow boxes are both appealing . People come in and out and you can have a conversation even with the movement. They also have pastries as well. The girls working there were nice and attentive. Be sure to let then kniw if you are not paying together because they quickly ring up people who seem to be together. Totally a must for us now everytime we are back at home.

Come on in and and treat yourself to the best that Nola has to offer. Old world taste and old world prices. When you walk through the front door it’s as if you are stepping back in time to a world long forgotten. Great customer service paired with the best cannoli that you will find in the United States. I’ve had cannoli’s in Chicago, Cleveland, New York, Omaha Nebraska and recently in The Hill area of St Louis and they don’t hold up to the ones here. The are simply the best. If you don’t stop here then it’s your loss and a big one at that.

My family absolutely LOVES this place. When we first moved to New Orleans a year and a half ago, this was one of the first places I just had to check out and I'm so glad I did!! Simply the best tiramisu I've had since I was in Italy, the coffee is outstanding and I cannot recommend the cannoli enough. My daughters love the gelato so much, and I'm not ashamed to say we've had dessert for dinner because Brocato's is just that outstanding. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming! One of our favorite places in the City.

  • Marie H.

I asked if they would make me an affogato and they did even tho it was not on the menu (ice cream with espresso and whipped cream). It was delicious. Very well balanced, sweet and hot and cold at the same time. All the people I was with enjoyed their desserts as well. They had different flavours of gelatos, all good. We arrived just before they closed and the satff was still very nice and welcoming with us. The line moved super fast too. I would recommend this place to anyone with a craving for sweets!

  • Michael Hargrave

Sent here by recommendation when we asked about Cannolis after dinner in another part of town (that restaurant did not offer any at that time) from a few nights earlier. The service was wonderful and all treats were spectacular - even the sugar-free member of the party had dessert: a double espresso with lemon twist. The parking can be hairy - stay away from the Big Juice Chain parking lot next door (lots of warnings posted), but not bad. Very much worth a half block stroll for these goodies.

Nostalgia post: This place introduced me to gelato, and it is the creamiest ice cream ever! The flavors are always exciting, and I remember coming in when they rotated flavors like clockwork. This is even the best gelato place in the USA! I have seen some wannabes in other states but they don't compare to this gem. On the hot summer nights I was obsessed with gelato. I moved away years ago and I really miss this place. I'm thinking about a tiramisu and rum raisin cone right now.

  • Kevin Kwok

Wow. So many choices, all delicious. Cute old school atmosphere, helpful staff that can help make recommendations. A must if you're near magazine street Don't forget to try a canoli. Super sweat but worth it. I don't have a pic of it because it disappeared so fast

Delicious gelato and desserts here! There’s usually a line out the door to get in. The bananas foster cheesecake was creamy and filled with banana flavor. The apple strudel was flaky and a perfect bake. Tge chocolate eclairs were also yummy! The chocolate almond gelato was rich in chocolate flavor. And lastly, the praline gelato was creamy with carmel laced throughout a vanilla base. Just amazingly delicious! Will return and highly recommend!

  • Aleksei Moniz Mirov

A New Orleans classic! The gelato here is a must have. The praline was incredible, but the pistachio was absolutely divine. Don't miss out on the affogato, either -- espresso over a generous portion of gelato is the perfect afternoon pick-me-up. This place has so much character and it feels full of life. If you're here in March, be sure to check out the St Joseph's Day altar, an old Sicilian tradition kept alive in New Orleans.

  • Andy Forstall

Everything is absolutely delicious. Very traditional Italian pastries and gelato. Cannolis are a must and they have biscotti to take home. The iced cappuccino is fantastic too.

Absolutely spectacular! The gelato was smooth and flavorful. I got praline flavor. The counter staff was very polite and quick on their feet. I loved the atmosphere. Very old world, but not stuck up. Comforting, even. The location was easy to access and wasn't sketchy. I wanted to eat everything! They have cakes, cookies, pies and pastries as well. I can see why they've been open for over 100 years. Highly recommend!

Love this old school Gelato store. Really good flavours, especially enjoyed the pumpkin and the amaretto. The cakes look great too, hoping to try some in the future. It gets really busy but the line moves fast.

Brocato's is the quintessential old-style Italian ice cream parlor — the best of the best. Italian ices and Gelato, cannoli, biscotti and other delicacies — they have it all. My favorites are lemon and raspberry ice, but everything is simply wonderful. There's often a line, but it always moves quickly. Brocato's is the perfect place to follow-up any Mid City dining experience.

  • Liz Vaz

Absolutely icecream heaven. Authentic to the T. Everything here is absolutely delicious. Flavors of ice cream I never even heard of and where sooo good. This completely completed our evening with this delicious choices of dessert. Omg they are sooo delicious, you have to try them ... look them up get yourself a treat today. On point and will definitely return.

  • Eilo Betoushana

What an amazing place. To have a cannoli filled on demand is fantastic. The cakes and all the baked goods were just right. No wonder they’ve been in business for over a 100 years. I did a FaceTime sessions with my kids while we were hear and my kids were upset that we went there without them so they demanded that we ship them some cake back to California.

  • Tayler Jones

My favorite place to go for a sweet treat! An absolute MUST for locals and tourists alike. The setting is very charming with vintage tables and chairs inside a modest space. There are rows of mouthwatering Italian pastries, hot coffee, and the most flavorful gelato! I would recommend the strawberry gelato. It is the best I have ever had. I LOVE IT HERE!

Everything we had was fantastic. The tiramisu cake and connoli were our favorites. The eclair was a bit of a let down because it tasted a little too sweet and didn't taste as light as we thought it would be. Overall, everything was surprisingly affordable for the quality of the things that you get. Would definitely come back next time!

  • Sharon Flores

Loved the vintage vibe of the place and the menu was amazing all around. I had the bananas foster cheesecake and the gelatoccino with amaretto gelato and enjoyed every bite. My boyfriend had some of the gelato, which was very fresh. We hung out to read my book for a while and the vibes were awesome even though it got really busy.

  • Chris Skaliks

What a great Italian gelateria. The family is working there.they are warm and welcoming. They let us try many different flavors of Gelato. We loved the ice cream. One of the best ones in the US yet. Very authentic. Parking outside is very limited. There is a line usually. Loved... Recommend it for a hot afternoon snack.

  • James McGuire

Angelo Brocato has been serving up amazing gelato, Italian ice, and pastries in New Orleans for over 100 years. We tried many different things, but the straciatella gelato and bananas foster cheesecake stood out. Great stop after a good dinner, and the line wrapped down the street by the time we left. We will be back!

Been waiting to come here for years, and it did not disappoint: Cannoli, spumoni, cassata, pignolata, torrone, panettone—any and every thing a Sicilian American sweet tooth craves during the holidays, they have it. All perfectly made from scratch by the Brocato family. Grazie mille per tutto quello che fate!

  • Courtney Standlee

First time back to NOLA in 6 years, and I am so glad to see this spot survived CoVID! I went here on the regular to get mint chocolate chip gelato. Another must try is the traditional cannoli that are filled to order! The box tied with string made my heart sing and is one solid reason to visit NOLA again.

  • Donovon Williams

I tried the salt caramel gelato, and it's SINFUL. It's sooooooooo good that it almost feels wrong. The tiramisu and cannolis are also quite delicious, and the staff was super friendly and nice. This is a date spot, but you can still bring your whole family. Next time I go, I'll add pictures for you …

  • Hailey Zamora

Small, quaint cafe. They have beautiful pastries and gelato. There are weird a few people working so you can get your treats and check out quickly. I got the macarons, which were delicious! I also ordered pistachio gelato and it was also delicious--creamy but light with real pistachios in it!

  • Alyssa Wagstaff

Angelo Brocato never fails to satisfy my Italian sweet tooth! Every gelato flavor is so fresh and takes me back to Italy each time! The charm and old-school feeling of the bakery makes the ambiance even more wonderful and brings back great memories...this is definitely a New Orleans classic!

  • Dennis Nowak

I only spent a few days in New Orleans but I'm glad I was shown this shop. My favorite stop in the city, and yes I like Cajun food. Not only do they have very good gelato they also have a good bakery selection. I had a Napoleon but could have ordered a dozen treats. Hope to swing by again.

  • Isabella Goldman

Best Italian desserts in Louisiana probably in all of the South. Fresh made cannolis are absolutely the best! Tiramisu is rich, delicious, and more than worth the calories. They have a great selection of authentic gelatos and a beautiful classic espresso machine for the perfect affogatos!

  • Christy Johnson

O M G! So worth driving miles just to cheat on your diet. Hey... that is what I did. ‍♀️ The staff is as sweet as the pastries. I enjoyed e v e r y t h I n g. It is sad how many calories I consumed. On a side note, do NOT park in the Smoothie King parking lot. They will tow you.

  • Cresta Christensen

Soooo good! We had ice cream and I got a cookie and my husband got some kind of rum cake. Everything was perfect! The ice cream was so creamy and had such a great flavor. The rum cake was super moist but not mushy. There are so many things I want to try so we will definitely be back.

  • Madhuri Kaluvakolanu

Great place for ice cream and gelato! I randomly found this place as I was looking for some ice cream on a hot and muggy afternoon. Pleasantly surprised at how good the gelato was! The pistachio almond seems to be a crowd pleaser! The baked alaska was great too! Highly recommend!

  • Laura Holton

I'm 100% into this place. The atmosphere is vintage and quaint, the prices are great and the ice cream is just amazing. I had a few different kinds on my trip, but my favorite was the pistachio almond. Go here. It's great. Take your kids, take your grandma, it's amazing.
