USE ONLY AS ABSOLUTE LAST RESORT. Take your pet to any other vet than this one. This clinic preys on vulnerable people to make as much money as possible while showing virtually no care for your sick or injured pet. We took our cat in on a Saturday night as he was off his food. While waiting to see the Vet the lady from the front office took my cat away and told us it was so the vet could keep an eye on him while we waited. The vet took us into a consulting room and informed us that they had put a canular in and administered Methadone for pain relief. We had not even discussed signs and symptoms, allergies etc let alone asked for my consent or permission to go ahead with treatment. The vet then wanted $1000 deposit and signatures to agree to a min $2200 & any extra expenses to keep him in overnight. We questioned the process and extremely high cost and the vet became angry and stormed out of the room! My partner and I have never experienced such an unprofessional and mean vet and she does not belong in this profession. Consultation and blood test still cost over $700. We decided to take our cat home and to our Vet at Lindisfarne where we received amazing service and care. Turns out there was nothing wrong with him and he is fine. Our experience of AHVEC: Only interested in money. No consultation or communication. Mean, uncaring, unprofessional Vet, unnecessary expensive procedures and a process designed to get the most money out of you possible. Please take your beloved pet anywhere else but here.

I wish I had read some of these comments before I took my dog to this place. It sure is all about money, they don't want to help you save your animal life unless you have heaps of money. The amount of times they asked me if I had money was unbelievable and the amount of time they said to me to euthanasia my dog was unbelievable too. They even asked me how much money I had left to use on my openpay. Really what does that have to do with them. When I told them how much I had left that's when they said to me you don't have enough money, you need to euthanasia your dog because you dont have enough money to pay for the treatment. No money no help. No compassion no nothing. All they ask you the whole time you are there is do you have money. Money money money is all they are worried about not your pet. So please please don't take your beloved pet there cause they will want to put them down. Only go there if you are rich. I even told them I had already spent $7500 on my dog and that meant nothing to them that why I couldn't use my openpay. It cost me $2400 to take him there and all they wanted to do was put him down cause I had ran out of money and they wanted to do a CT scan which cost $2600. You would think they would have let me pay it off so I could find out what is wrong with my dog but NO I had NO MONEY left so once again they told me to euthanasia my dog. MONEY HUNGRY VET'S

WORST VET EXPERIENCE EVER. - Too expensive. Tried to get us to leave our dog overnight for $2,000, for services that are cheaper elsewhere. - For an after hours vet, they charge 3x the amount of a standardized vet consult visit. For a Sunday, $265 is over-the-top. - Lacks empathy, and consideration of the wellbeing of both owner and animal. Our dog was apprehensive to be around the vet, trying to hug into me for comfort. - The vet was rude, and kept interrupting us when my partner and I were trying to discuss our dog's medical history with her. Went as far as snapping at my partner to be quiet when he was trying to explain a recent medical situation with our dog. Vet also complained that the records we gave them were over a year old, even though they had conclusive evidence that our dog's current health situation is relevant to the consultation she was there for. - Like they care more about the money raking in than the well-being of the animals brought in for emergency reasons. - Our dog was so sick before we went there, that we thought it was the end. No sympathy or reassurance, just absolutely nasty attitude from the vet. Long story short: CARE MORE ABOUT THE ANIMALS THAN THE FINANCES. SORT OUT THE FINANCES LATER, AND PUT A PAYMENT PLAN IN PLACE TO RELIEVE THE ALREADY DISTRESSED OWNERS OF SUDDEN EXCESSIVE COSTS. ALSO, BE NICER TO YOUR CLIENTS.

I was hesitant to bring my cat in because of the negative reviews, but due to the long weekend over Christmas I had no choice. I'm glad I did. The care she received was above satisfactory, and the cost, while high, seems fair considering they are running on weekends, public holidays and overnight, providing emergency care to many, many pets. Not only that, but there was many payment options available (afterpay, zip pay, vet pay, openpay, possibly others). I spoke with a few different vet nurses/vets over the few days I needed to take my cat in, and all of them were friendly and thorough during consult. Reception provided helpful and friendly phone support when I called in to see if I should bring my cat in. (To anyone worried about the cost, a heads up that zip pay offers up to $5000 loan, you just need to pay $99 upfront (to zip pay). The repayment is a bit higher (150 a fortnight I think, for the full 5000), but at the very least its a way to pay if theres no other option in the moment. For the base 500 loan I don't believe you need any money in the bank at the time of payment.)

We took our cat there on a Sunday after he suddenly couldn't use his back leg. Rang first and told that he would be seen, and $260 upfront. We ook him in, was given some forms, then told $500 before he was even looked at. Paid this, and the vet took him into a room. Partner was told ,our cat would need x-rays,& may need to stay overnight. We then left. Just over 3 hours later partner was called & told we could come and pick him up. When we got there the receptionist told us that another $370 was required. We paid this again, and the vet shortly after came out. Her diagnosis was that after doing 2 x-rays,that showed nothing,.the answer was, that she did Not know what was wrong with him,and if he got worse take him to our own vet. Was given a small bottle of medicine and told goodbye. $870.00 for " I don't know". Not right. Have now had to book him into our own vet. I understand that there are fees involved, but $870 for 2 x-rays & no r a " Don't Know,. doesn't seem at all right, and definitely does not help the animal or the owners. How can anyone be charged for a ,Don't know.

Arrived at this emergency vet with my elderly dog who was experiencing shaking and assuming in pain. Paid $200 consult fee to see the vet who I tried to give a run down of relevant history on my dog to see if we can come to a conclusion of what could be wrong with her. The vet on several occasions told me she had other patients waiting and even sighed when I tried to talk. She asked me the same questions multiple times and used a strong tone of voice that was not very welcoming or calming when we were worried about our dog. We spoke to reception who had a chat to her and then she came out to the reception area and asked us to go back into the consult room which I said no and we’re going somewhere else and she sarcastically said that she was sorry we felt that way ect ect. We ended up getting pain killers and going to another vet. We understand that in emergency room situations priority comes first and would not have minded if she had of said we needed to wait while she dealt with another dog. The reception team were very lovely though.

I would never recommend AHVET, they just kill animals unnecessarily. I rescued an injured wallaby today, he had a broken leg, took him to AHVET. Tried to talk to them but they were just not interested, wanted to let them know I would pay any costs, also look after him while he was recovering, I used to raise orphaned baby joeys. They were “ too busy” for me to talk to them!!! Do they kill a dog with a broken leg??? No!!!! So dear little Bob was killed today. Is that what happens with native animals?? They didn’t even give us a chance, I thought vets were about saving lives, nope, they just kill our beautiful native animals, so terribly sad. I have learnt today to never take an injured native animal to a vet, it will be killed without a thought. Next time I will take it home instead and give it a chance at life. I am now going to sign up to be a wildlife carer and give the next animal a chance at life, not death. Tried to delete the last star but it wouldn’t let me!!! They deserve no stars!

The fees at AHVEC are extremely high - I was charged $2,000 for essentially a "gassy puppy" and an unnecessary ultrasound, which I had asked them not to perform over the phone. My pup was transferred to my regular vet and a simple antibiotic regimen cleared his tummy issues up. On the positive side, the vets and administrative staff were very friendly, caring and sympathetic. If you're considering using AHVEC, I suggest holding off on weekends unless it's a serious emergency (like literal life and death situation) and having insurance, as treatment can be 3-4 times more expensive than your regular vet. Additionally, they only accept payment methods like cash, BNPL and bank transfer, and a minimum deposit of $1,000 was required upfront, making it inconvenient and very stressful. While I appreciate their care, I can't recommend AHVEC due to the extremely high costs and the unnecessary procedure. I hope they'll consider my feedback and make some improvements in the future.

The staff at the Derwent Park Animal Emergency Service are absolutely amazing! My cat snuck into the bathroom and licked drain cleaner when my partner had his back turned for one second, causing severe burns and ulceration on his mouth and tongue, despite us flushing his mouth with water immediately after it happened. He stayed with them for four days while they treated his burns, gave him fluids and pain killers, and tried to get him to eat on his own. Unfortunately, he was hurting too much to eat, so a feeding tube was placed in his neck and they showed me how to feed him and administer medications through the tube before we brought him home. He is now eating on his own and slowly getting back to his usual affectionate and sassy little self, and will hopefully have the tube removed soon. Thank you to everyone at the animal hospital for helping both him and myself through this scary time; words alone cannot express my gratitude.

Best avoided if possible. We are so very disappointed with our experience here. As if having to deal with an injured family pet isn't bad enough, the 'treatment' we received here was most difficult to deal with. It was unexpected and their fees were so exorbitant, so like most people we were unable to pay for the treatment on the same day. Instead of giving us a bill to make payment in a week's time, Euthanasia was offered as a solution. They are the only 'after hours' 'emergency' vet in the area and they take full advantage of that. For the sake of your pet who relies on you, either have a lot of cash readily available or try and take them somewhere else. We were able to take our cat to our usual vet the next day who treated what turned out to be a laceration and not a costly break. I wholeheartedly recommend Hobart Community Veterinary Hospital.

I took our small Pomeranian Bella here off the back of a very long day of driving back from holiday on the East Coast as our dog needed emergency care in the evening, as she was very sick. My problem with this place was the lack of compassion and empathy shown towards both ownners and their pets. I was charged a huge $2000 for a night involving one blood transfusion and some air being given and then almost railroaded by the vet the next day into leaving our dog snother day, with her condition considerably worse than when i left her there. Fighting back tears, I insisted that I take her back to her vet at Montrose, as they had made an appointment for her there. Whilst their procedure was not to be faulted, their manner was cold and unsympathetic, and for this reason, I would not ever want to have to return to this place.

  • Dannika

I took my cat Crookshanks here when he had an extremely low red blood cell count and he needed a blood transfusion urgently. As my bad luck would have it, my cat was the more uncommon blood type (B), and the vets worked hard to find him a donor. It ended up being one of the staff who brought in their cat who was a match for my little man and we managed to get the blood transfusion done in the middle on the night. The staff dealt with me being a crying blubbering mess and were so kind and patient with me. They're the reason I still have my little guy and without them he would have passed away several months ago. He has such amazing quality of life now and I'm just so grateful to the staff here for working so hard to help us. We still haven't figured out the cause of his illness but he's happy and comfortable.

We have had to use AES many times for our dogs over the years and this year alone have had 2 of our dogs (Riddle & Kao) needing to stay in AES's care for many days at a time. During their time in care we were continually updated on how our dogs were doing and the treatment that they were receiving. AES was also upfront with estimated costs for care and encouraged us to call if we had any concerns at all. We have been very fortunate to bring both of our dogs home and for them to make a full recovery from their respective illnesses. We were also delighted when two of the treating vets asked how one of our dogs was doing from his lengthy stay back in February 2023, which highlights the connection between vets and their patients. We highly recommend AES to anyone needing after hours emergency veterinary care.

Today myself and my partner had to make the hardest decision of our time together (13 years ) our fur baby phoenix ( 12 years old ) her time was sadly at an end after fighting so hard to stay with us for as long as she did. I can not thank all the staff envoled, down the first phone call so respectful and helpful. ( god bless dont know how they do it ) The 2 lovely lady's that prep my baby ready done an amazing job but hats of to the vet that made us feel so comfortable in a very awkward situation and resting off our fur baby. The last thing she said to me tiped it over the edge was make sure you take care of each other whist pating my fur baby as i walked out. If I was a millionair I'd through any money needed for your vet services. Many thanks Kieran hutchinson and Mel Cooper

  • Tracey Cooper

I have used this after hours service a few times now with 2 different pups. All times have been absolutely amazing! Great care and attention has always been given, even when we had to say goodbye to our first pup, the service was outstanding in the difficult time. The vets are amazing and know exactly what to do with ground sound knowledge. I would prefer these vets than a day practice they are that outstanding! I know our pets will get the best care when needed and super thankful they are there when needed. Thank you so much for everything you do, you guys are amazing! If anyone needs help with their furbies DO NOT hesitate to use this service you will not be disappointed! I only want the best for mine, that is what you will get. Pic of my baby they attended to recently.

  • Meredith Izon

My aged and generally anxious dog underwent a major surgery and I was so impressed with the outstanding level of care she received at the AES Hobart facility. Communication by the vets with me on the arrival of our pet and the following day for pick up was thorough, detailed and extremely caring. This all contributed to putting my mind at ease and feeling confident my dog would be well taken care of whatever the circumstances. All the staff were friendly, caring and especially compassionate with those attending with their pets in more distressing circumstances. Should I need this service again, I won't have any hesitation in taking my dog there again. A big thank you to all the staff there for the wonderful way you looked after my dog. ✨

  • Jarrad Hansch

I only gave one star as none wasn't an option. I would not recommend ahvec to anyone, which is a shame, as they are the only option on weekends and after hours. Took our indoor cat in with a clear ear problem, only to be told when being examined in the vets own words "I doubt we will find anything though" as if we are imagining things and like throwing money away. The problem has proceeded to get worse, and on a long weekend, what do we do? To charge such an exorbitant fee, the website said minimum $210, but on phone we were told $230 minimum plus anything they use and any procedures administered, all for a 5 minute consult and next to no services rendered is a joke and an utter scam.

I visited this vet last nights. Very upset with one very sick puppy. The vet nurse was fantastic as for the vet. Very blunt, showed no compassion for my poor puppy. When picking him up this morning to transport him to another vet, the vet stated “oh yuck someone must have opened the door in that room because it smells so bad” not realising I was in there. I picked him up out of his cage and the vet nurse said to the vet his owner is here for you to speak to and she stated “why would I need to talk to her, I spoke to her a few hours ago” (4 hours ago is when I dropped him off) an update would’ve been nice about my puppy. I don’t recommend these guys. Montrose vet have been fantastic.

  • Han

Can't say that I've had a good experience with this vet. Took my very sick dog to them - they misdiagnosed him. As a result, obviously for the night he was with them, he didn't get the correct treatment. Had him transferred to his usual vet the next morning and they couldn't understand how this vet reached their diagnosis. I was then informed that his condition was very serious and if left for much longer untreated (or mistreated as this case may be...) he would have died. Poor communication. Poor diagnosis and treatment provided to my dog. Dog could have died. Had to sell my left kidney to pay for the treatment. In short, avoid this place if you can.

  • amanda brasnja

My old puppy had an operation that was risky for an old boy and had to overnight at AES. I was given updates on his progress after arrival and one in the morning about how he went overnight. They let me know that if anything occurred during the night I would be contacted straight away, luckily I didn't need to be. Now almost a week later they have sent some lovely followed up messages checking on him and his health. I happened to have called them previously and the care and advice they gave me was exactly what I needed for that situation. Can't thank them enough for the care they provided for my boy!

  • julie tatton

AES took such good care of our Kaiser for an overnight after his double elbow dysplasia surgery. They let me know how he was going that night when he was checked in and first thing the next morning. They told me what his treatment would be while he was there and while I was stressed about my boy, knowing they were taking such good of him and being kept in the loop gave me confidence. The cost was reasonable and I would highly recommend their services. They even sent a kind follow up text to check how Kaiser was going a week later. Such caring staff. Very happy with my experience.

  • Daisy Newell

We took our dog here as she somehow cut open her leg on a Friday night. The staff were very friendly, respectful and clear, telling us indications of the price upfront and the different options we had for treatment. She received a few sutures to close her wound, some antibiotics and some anti inflammatory medication for pain. Overall I feel that my dog was well looked after. Obviously go to your normal vet if they are open as it’s expensive to go to an after hours vet, but if I had another urgent or emergency situation with my pets I would definitely go here again

  • Hannah Barry

So grateful this service exists 24/7 (and also very grateful for pet insurance!!). We had to take our elderly giant breed dog in on a Saturday afternoon with complications from a recent surgery. They saw us very quickly, he received excellent care and was back with us that night. Dr Brosnan took the time to explain everything to us thoroughly and all the reception staff were so kind and helpful. I don’t know what we would have done if we had to wait until our regular vet opened again, very fortunate to be able to access this level of care at any time. Thank you!

  • Frnkkie

Really can't speak highly enough of the service that we received Wednesday night. Called up and told them of my concern with my cat and they were very helpful and made the quick decision to have her come in. The level of care that my cat received that night and the regular updates were much appreciated. Sad to say I had to say goodbye to her at her regular vets the next night. I only wish she received such thorough care from her regular vet when she was in the week before. I'm so heartbroken but at least I know she was taken good care of when she was with AHVEC.

  • Anna von See

I can’t thank the team at AHVEC enough for their care and compassion dealing with my beautiful Panda dog over the Easter weekend. Although it turned out to be his time to leave us, I have no doubt whatsoever that it was the right decision. We were given all the time we needed to say goodbye and were able to be with him as he passed. Thank you all so very very much for your kindness and professionalism. We appreciate it more than you will ever know. Highly recommend this service for any emergency and critical care!

  • Martin Hobbs

In the early hours of Christmas morning our 17 year old Jack Russell dog was quite unwell. The vet on duty, Nan, was very empathetic and caring for the old dog as well as for my family. She was very clear and thorough on all the possible options, but ultimately we decided the old dog had to be put to sleep. Thanks very much Nan for making this sad event as pain free for us as possible. Nan is highly professional and a very pleasant person, as was the vet nurse on duty that night as well.

  • Deb Graham

I recently attended the hospital when my elderly little dog become ill outside of my normal veterinary hours. My dog subsequently was in the hospital for two and a half days. At all times the hospital kept me informed of my little dog’s progress and indicated an approximate cost. My little dog is now back to her old self and this is because of the professional and caring approach taken by the veterinary team at the hospital. My sincerest thanks for the care given at all levels.

  • zac crossin

This place is great! And its perfect if your looking for a vet thats going to take you for a fool and rip you off, they give you misleading information, they have no communication amongst themselfes, somehow they can provide you with a price, and then once you argue that its not right they will drop thousands off, only to still try and rip you off again. I Highly wouldnt reccomend these fools for any service at all! They are Treading on the doorstep of court action!!

  • TopgunExcel

I took my dog to this "vet" their fee was 4 times the normal cost. My animal was locked in a kennel for 9hrs I called them and no phone call was returned. The dog was held for ransom until the bill was paid and after demanding my dog back on legal grounds they called my normal vet who refused to look at the pup and said to take it back to after hours. After finding another vet the whole procedure that after hours performed needed to be redone at 1/3 the cost

  • Sano Kingofstone

Having one vet on in an emergency hospital is unbelievable on a Sunday. My dog was very ill and I was told she wasn’t a priority and other cases were more important. While I understand this ,it is not good enough in my opinion and being told by the vet there could be hours wait and my dog could be pushed back in line because basically she was dying. Staff were great at reception and very helpful. The vet however didn’t seem to care.

  • David Bailey Shooting Supplies

Treated one of our dogs after having been bitten by a snake. This truly is a case of you get what you pay for! The best care from highly trained professionals, operating out of a first-class facility with the best equipment and medications available. This is the first time we have used them and hopefully we will not need them again, but it is so reassuring that this kind of care is avaiable to us should we need it in the future.

  • Theresa LJ

Absolutely wonderful service. Caring, attentive and highly experienced staff that look after your for babies and us as pet owners. I've had to take my cat here twice and on both occasions they treated my cat with utmost care. As I don't lice near an emergency vet I have to drive 2.5 hours each way but I've called them up beforehand to seek guidance and help for how to prepare my unwell cat for the long drive. Highly recommend.

  • Luke Holmes

So much care and love for our babies, Jess showed extra loving to Toby and we are very grateful for all that they have done We were kept informed about the costs that may be incurred, and also given reassurance from the team during our pups stay that he was recovering well, upon collecting him we were greeted by the vet who gave us a ton of information about aftercare for our pup, answering any and all questions we had

  • Gina Campbell

A fantastic team that looked after our Harvey when we needed. They were so thorough and professional. The care started when we first walked through the doors until we left. We were sent home with all the medication and straight forward instructions that we needed. I really loved the follow-up SMS we got a week later asking how Harvey was. They are a very caring team. I recommend them to all my family and friends.

  • Kimberley Morrison

I transferred our dog from another vets after hours. I didn't have to wait very long before my dog was seen by the vet. They were very friendly & professional. The vet actually spent time with me to let me know exactly what was going on & what to expect, plus the approximate cost . I also got a check-up text to make sure everything was ok a few days later. Very impressed with these dedicated people.

  • Shannon Copelin

Very friendly staff and helpful in a crisis. I was really upset with worry for my dog and the staff were very comforting. The vet explained what was needed, gave me options and was extremely transparent. I’ve seen other reviews saying they cost a lot, but that makes sense given they are after hours and for emergency. They did a great job and I really appreciate them being open and available 24/7.

  • Mai Hem

All the receptionist was concerned about was that I paid my bill in total on the spot, not that I had just have to have my beloved cat of 11 years put down. All I wanted to do was get the hell out of there. The vet left all the used syringes on the floor that we had to step over to get out of the room. Very unprofessional, zero care factor, more interested in my money than my poor cat

  • M G

Took our puppy in at 9pm. He was lethargic and sleepy. Told to pay a deposit of $500 before they would look at him. Vet rang next morning at 6.30am for us to come and pick him up at 7.50 am. We were charged $1100 for antibiotics, anteseptic and blood test. Dog stayed for a total of 10 hours. Also told to take him to another vet to have him monitored as they were closing.

  • Abbie Shortt

We waited a long time to be seen, but the care provided for our dog was very thorough and the team were extremely kind, friendly and professional. They diagnosed the problem and provided the appropriate treatment on the spot, with clear instructions for managing our dog's condition at home. They interacted very well with our dog and were warm, gentle and understanding.

  • paula shaw

AES provided the best care recently, for my little dog Chloe. She recently had surgery for her cruciate ligament rupture and had to spend a night with AES and I was very concerned. But I need ent have been. They kept me informed of her progress and were very caring and professional. I highly recommend them if in need of emergency care for your furry family member.

  • Em Dee

I attended with my kitten a few weeks ago. Really lovely staff on the phones. They dealt well with covid safety measures. I spoke with a lovely British vet (George? Can't remember name!). Was very happy with the advice I received. No undue treatment costs, only the consultation fee which I thought was reasonable for an out of hours doctor service. Thank you!

  • Kate O’Farrell

Excellent to deal with in an emergency, very helpful advice over the phone as well as in the surgery. Friendly and caring staff, consult costs were explained to me over the phone before I brought my dog in, I was also given advice on what to do if I couldn’t bring her in. Really appreciated the follow up text message to make sure she was ok.

  • Rach L

Had a very scary experience with our pup last week (paralysis tick). I will be forever grateful for the care he received and also the updates and kindness the vets and nurses gave me. I can't remember everyone's name unfortunately but you are all amazing. If not for the amazing service you provide, our boy wouldn't be here today. Thankyou x

  • fiona thollar

Had to bring a young wombat joey in for a review of respiratory function. Saw a young vet from Connecticut. Lovely person who displayed a sound understanding of wildlife and the considerations and differences that need to be taken into account when treating joeys/wildlife. Would happily see her again, kudos for hiring such a vet.

  • Charlie Gerke

The lovely team acted with compassion and in a timely fashion. Our poor puppy was hit by a car and they made sure to make us feel welcome and supported while ensuring her health a priority. The vets & nurses were transparent with costs while being thorough and professional in their care for our pup. Ducky & her humans …

  • Steve Steve

Sped my sick dog who was in trouble to this service and she unfortunately died. They were so professional caring especially with my daughter who was distraught. Didn't charge me any consult fees. So impressed with the veterinary care. They tried to resuscitate her but knew it was a lost cause. Outstanding and caring service.

  • Olivia Duggan

Amazing service at what was a very stressful time for our little family... particularly our 3yr old Groodle, Elsie. From the medical reception, through to the vets and veterinary nurses, they were all so compassionate, kind, informative and caring. I can't recommend Animal Emergency Derwent Park enough. Thank you!

  • Matt Patchava

AHVEC charged us in excess of $200 for a 5 minute appointment in which they couldn't figure out what was wrong with our dog and told us to go to a regular vet during business hours. Based on this rate they would be making well over $1k per hour by taking advantage of people who care about their pets' wellbeing.

  • Nicole Anderson

If at possible avoid this service, it's not a vet clinic it's a money pit. Ridiculous charges that can't be justified, they aren't there to help they are there to profit greatly. Euthanasia is their favourite option, this is a company out to make a quick buck they have no interest in yours or your pets welfare.

  • Erin Gleeson

AES were wonderful. They were very attentive and took such beautiful care of my cat Bruno during his overnight stay. The team kept me up to date with his progress and submitted a pet insurance claim on my behalf. Cannot speak highly enough of the amazing team at AES. Bruno and I are so grateful to you all.

  • Jenny Johnson

A snake was near our dogs and I wasn’t sure if they were bitten. I rang the AES and they couldn’t have been more helpful when I took them up there was no waiting they were seen straight away. I Was kept informed at all stages . Our dogs hadn’t been but but highly recommend the service provided. Thank you

  • Marco Marconi

Unfortunately we had need to euthanise our much loved 18 year old cat Abby on a Saturday. The care and attention give by both the front of house Anne and the Vet Gertie on that day was very good and the procedure was done with a high level of understanding and condolence. We highly recommend this place.

  • John Kinnane

Our German Shepard Sasha had a life threatening emergency and it was handled thoughtfully and professionally. They kept us informed how she doing and the medications she was on were explained, we could not have found such a caring attitude. I recommend the centre to anyone who needs a vet after hours.

Rang the vet prior to attending and was told to definitely attend today to avoid infection of my dogs paw after a partial claw break. We were told it would cost $230. We attended only to be charged $262 and told to come come back if/when infection sets in. No treatment or bandaging was provided.

Extreme waiting times when your beloved pet is sick and exuberant prices. If your pet can wait the night, take them to their actual vet, don’t waste your time. They're the only emergency vet in Hobart, so their prices are ridiculously hiked up.

  • Emma Jones

Compassionate, caring during an emergency with our dog. They saw him quickly, explained all options and gave us plenty of their time without rushing. We felt very comfortable admitting our dog for overnight monitoring and would recommend AES

  • Jess Hall
