Updated based on the owners comments: Thank you for taking my comments into consideration, but I do find it hard to believe that the table mentioned below is the most requested seat in the house given it was the only one open when we got there. The people seated ahead of us passed on it, and the two couples that ended up with it after we moved were not thrilled. No one was fighting over that table… it was quite the opposite. It wouldn’t have been as terrible if the person on the end (closes to the aisle) didn’t feel like they were sinking into the floor boards. Maybe we visited this restaurant on an off night, but our overall experience last night was sub par. The parking is street or valet. I made a reservation the same day for 7:30p (the entire evening was open). The ambience was good, but they put us at a table right off the stairs in the middle of the restaurant (which shocked me given we had a reservation for a birthday and there were so many open reservations just a few hours prior to that). The servers were walking past us every two seconds and the flooring didn’t seem stable (I could feel the floor sink when servers walked by). It took at least 15 minutes for the server to take our drink orders (maybe they’re short staffed). I asked the host if we could move and she allowed it, but didn’t seem overly happy about the request. I would recommend they remove that table from the restaurant. I highly doubt anyone wants to sit there. We received no recommendations or additional information on dishes. The escargot was served without the shell (not typical for this French dish), and the calamari was all breading. Both dishes were cold. The entrees were good and hot. I ordered the Salmon, which was cooked well, and the blue cheese risotto with arugula had great flavor. My fiancé enjoyed a port wine for dessert. In summary, I would not recommend this restaurant. I think they need additional help like many restaurants right now, but I expect great service and high quality food when I spend this amount of money dining out.

If you're looking for a slice of France right here in Atlanta, look no further than this Anise bistro and café. From the moment you step through the door, you'll be transported to the French countryside with its charming and cozy atmosphere. The menu is full of French cuisine classics, but the quiche and rose' are a must-try. The signature Quiche is light with perfect flaky crust, and a flavor that carries just the right amount of savory and sweet. Paired with a crisp and refreshing rose, it's the ideal meal for a summer day. And if the weather is good, sit on the patio and enjoy the warm sun and casual energy while indulging all your senses. One of the most remarkable things about this bistro and café is its fast and friendly service, making sure your meal is prompt and dinner finished at a perfect pace. Whether you're looking for a casual brunch spot or a celebratory dinner location, this Anise Bistro and cafe is the summer vibe that will leave you feeling like Provence.

Dropped in hoping for a French cuisine treat around dinner time. We were lucky to come in before the crowd, so the service was pretty quick. Parking is via complimentary valet, but you can also go around the building and park in the back yourself. The ambience and decor is nice, with porch-like seating that allows air to flow during the hot days. You really don't feel like you are in the middle of a big city. Service as mentioned before was quick and friendly. The order was taken promptly, and the food came out surprisingly fast with complimentary bread and butter. But that's where the star rating stops in going up. We ordered the duck and chicken (photo included) dishes. The speed of the food being served was the first sign that at least parts of the dish was already made well in advance. The duck came out tender but a bit salty. The veggie side was on the shy side and it made the dish seem disproportional. The veggies were also hard and could have used some more tenderness. The roasted chicken was slightly salty as well and dry in some parts. The green beans were tender, but the accompanied sauce for the chicken was lacking too... could have used some more. The menu also says potatoe puree, but it's just mashed potatoes. Just those two dishes came out to nearly $60... way overpriced for the quality that was served. It is not authentic French, but French-inspired tailored to the Southern palate.

We ended up here bc everywhere else was closed, and we were famished. When we arrived, there were 4 employees talking, and 0 customers. We stood around for a while, not sure if we were supposed to seat ourselves. The employees glanced at us and carried on with their conversation. I decided to leave, but my friend tried to get their attention and asked if they were open. They said they were open and that we could sit anywhere. I'm vegan, my friend is not. I ordered the mezze, he ordered fries, calamari & shrimp pasta. They brought out the mezze, fried, and calamari. We asked for ketchup, but it never came. We asked about the shrimp pasta, and the waitress giggled that she forgot. I don't know how the only 2 customers in the entire establishment received such poor service. The hummus and dolmas were average-plus, and the baba ghanouj was excellent. However, everything was wrong with the tabbouli. I have never had grain-free tabbouli with whole, soggy leaves. It was very unpleasant. He says the shrimp pasta and calamari were good, but didn't finish any of it. My dog was in the car, so I offered her a piece of leftover calamari. She spit it out, if that tells you anything.

Don't leave anything behind, you won't get it back. We sat in the middle of the porch outside. When I arrived, I placed an off white jacket on the back of the seat. My friend saw me put it there but neither of us recall me leaving with it. This was Thursday night at 9pm ish when we left. There was a terrible storm on Friday night, so I did not miss it until early Sat afternoon as I was heading out. The first Manager I spoke with was able to figure out the waiter with my receipt and texted him. I never got a response from her as she went on vacation. The second manager said maybe a customer took it. I asked how that could happen when there were dishes to be bused by a busboy and the check to be picked up by a waiter. Not to mention there was a hostess. I spoke to 3 different Managers whom I believe made efforts to locate the jacket. I won't go back there, as I find it incredible that you could leave a jacket at an upscale restaurant and no one saw it a day and a half later. It was an expensive gift from my mother whom I had recently visited following her hip surgery, so it meant something to me.

Really enjoyed our dinner here. Fancy restaurant but with a cozy, more relaxing feel to it. For appetizers, I would highly recommend the escargot. The sauce was delicious, the escargot was perfectly cooked and I'd also recommend ordering their bread, even though it costs extra, because the sauce went very well with the bread. For entrees, the torteloni with beef was absolutely delicious and I would highly recommend. Only food I was slightly disappointed with was the duck confit. The dish just wasn't very interesting with an overly sweet sauce and the duck was slightly overcooked for my liking. However, everything else tastes great and there's also a very solid wine by the glass list with a lot more options than most restaurants. One thing to note however is if you are celebrating a birthday, as we were, they don't do anything special for the occasion.

Love this place! Very relaxed and enjoyable experience, our waitress was excellent and she told us the special for the day, and was very sweet to my grandmother and cousins. Comfortable and cozy atmosphere, clean and well kept. The food was delicious, I had the banana & nutella crepes, and we shared creme brulee and bread pudding for dessert.

Parking
The parking is located below the Cafe down a slight hill. Not difficult for most, maybe for elderly but they do offer valet parking so not really an issue.
Kid-friendliness
They had a small children's menu, but it had great options including some tasty strawberry drinks that my son loved!

Anis plays a little hard to get- physically and metaphorically! The parking situation is hard, and as someone who's getting older I'm a bit less willing to navigate hard-to-reach spaces with other errant drivers and only end up having valet be the option that can get you in without taking Xanax. Also, when you first walk in the door, the floor is uneven and there's a hole in the ground filled with gravel that my heel sunk into and it startled me. Finally, we were placed on the delightful whimsical patio, but right in front of a gas stove that nearly broiled me and one of my companions. The food was nice, but it did take a while to get out main entreé. I feel the restaurant is charming and still worth the effort, but perhaps it can do more to meet it's guests halfway. The banana rum bread pudding is definitely worth it!

The best French restaurant in ATL ! Service, food and the atmosphere were unique. Customer focus rest. 100%. Ive been here twice with my fiancée and she loves this place. Perfect atmosphere for a date night. The staff is very professional and polite. The server helped us with the menu. He recommended us a bottle of white wine that matched perfect with our food (pic). For the appetizer we got their delicious and famous mussels. My fiancée ordered Tortelloni et Boeuf braise and it was so good ! I ordered Truite Meunière (fish marinated) TASTY! We finished the night with a Degustation of desserts … one better than the other one. They have complimentary valet. Make a reservation because this restaurant is always packed. This is part of my TOP 5 date restaurants in ATL.

Flavorful. Delicious. Parisienne atmosphere. Large patio area with heaters for the cold afternoon. Loved the staff. Was debating whether I should try the escargot and went with the soup-salad-salmon dish. The tomato basil was really good but was missing crostini or a piece of bread to go with. Ordered the bread basket but what a waste since I only needed 2 pieces for the soup... The salmon was exceptionally well prepared! The dessert on special was a banana bread pudding - I don't remember having a better bread pudding at a restaurant, ever. Definitely worth a visit...or two...or three... I know where my French food spot is now when I'm in Atlanta!

Came here for my mother’s birthday and had a wonderful time. We had the half charcuterie plate and escargot for starters. We expected the lemon-garlic, burn-your-mouth-off escargot starter, but it was nestled in a tomato cream sauce with a bit of polenta. Different but tasty. For the main we ordered the trout and the tortellini. May I recommend the Trout for dinner? It was excellent, light and tasty. Finally, we ordered crème brûlée and crème caramel for dessert. I’m not sure what alcohol was in my crème caramel, but it was overwhelming. The crème brûlée was good, but would have been better slight warm. Overall, we will return, if for no other reason than to taste the trout again.

It was amazing! I have missed French food since visiting Paris a few years ago and this hit the spot! Soooo delicious! I went for a girls' lunch and we had a blast! Service was a teensy slow, but it was slammed!! I got the Poulet Rôti and it was sooo good. Those potatoes. *chef's kiss* we also shared some desserts for the table (the dessert of the day was peach bourbon pecan bread pudding and so tasty), and we also got the gateau al chocolat. Super delicious. The birthday girl got a sample of the chocolate mousse, which I also tried and I would get that time!!! So amazingly delicious! Great place that I for sure want to return to.

Really tasty food and a cute vibe with kind of backyard decorations on the patio. Loved that they have lots of outside covered seating. We had the French bread bowl, cheese plate, vegetarian tortelloni, and trout. Everything was truly excellent and we had very nice service. My only complaint was that it was extremely loud outside. Even though we were seated at the far corner of the patio, we still had trouble hearing each other. Seems like a real Buckhead Betty crowd so good people watching but they weren't really considerate of other guests trying to be able enjoy their meals. I would go back on perhaps a quieter evening or for an early dinner.

Excellent dining experience. Anis Cafe’s ambiance is unmatched, with so much character in each nook and cranny of the cozy space. Service was great. We enjoyed two of the specials- tomato Parmesan asparagus quiche and the bone-in lamb with mushrooms. YUM. We also devoured the Saucisses Merguez Grillées, mussels, Tortelloni et Boeuf Braisé, and steak frites. The meat in all dishes was so flavorful and tender. Dessert was tasty too. We really liked the mulberry sorbet special but the chocolate cake was a bit bland and dry- only complaint. Would definitely recommend for top notch food and experience overall!

I was here with my husband for a relaxing French brunch. We had a delicious quiche for each of us who was amazing! For dessert we ordered a DÉGUSTATION DE DESSERTS for 2, to feel the French taste of each kind of dessert, but it was very disappointing! No French taste, no French flavors, no French refinement, only French quantity! Hardly enough for 2 as is presented. The shells for profiterol were old and hard, tasteless, the vanilla cream was dated and hard. The kahlua coffee was good though. Nice american atmosphere.

My partner and I dined as an early Valentine’s Day dinner celebration. The meal was phenomenal and we had a great waiter in Dali. Dali recommended two wines for us to try before we settled on a 2017 Pinot Noir. I would highly recommend the escargot starter and ordering at least one of the daily specials! Also you will note by the images attached that you can do the De Gustation dessert - it enable you to try a sample of their homemade French dessert delicacies!

GREAT SERVICE AND AMAZING FOOD!!! Our waiter was super nice and sarcastically hilarious. I loved all the food. The escargot was so good and the calimari was supercrispy outside and soft/chewy inside. The greatest was the salmon sandwich which was so good that my friends and I consumed it even before we could take pics! Lastly, the desert were good and we really were satisfied for what we paid for. I don't usually write reviews, but it was so good! Highly recommend it. P.s. They told us that it's best to make reservations beforehand. If you want to eat at certain spots, make sure to call first!

I've been to Anis for brunch and it was delicious. I went for lunch recently and I was not pleased with the steak. Everyone on my party enjoyed their food so maybe it was just mine. The steak was super fatty, weird lumpy shape, hardly ate it. Everything else was fine, the waiter was friendly and they have complimentary valet which is a plus in the buckhead area. I'll give it a 4 star because I've been before and food has been good.

The best lamb shops in town. Full stop ! :) We got a salad and dessert was amazing as well. We ended up booking this restaurant in the center of Buckhead away from all the traffic. Amazing service. We got Henry as our server who had a British accent adding to the European flair to a French restaurant. Valet : You can Venmo the valet so no cash is necessary. They ran out of duck by 7pm on Mother’s Day. Should have planned better I think. Overall great place, food is good, however not authentic French. More catered for an American audience. I prefer authenticity with garlic flavour in escargot which was tasty, but lacking garlic. Service was OK overall, but not perfect perhaps because it was very busy - forgotten glass of wine was not a show stopper. Valet parking was available. Hope we get our car in the same condition . Valet was good, no issues.

You walk into the patio section which was warm and welcoming. The menu had a great selection of appetizers, entrees, desserts. Food was excellent! We were a party of five and we tried lots of things. See the photos but it won’t describe the taste . Also it is so warm and cozy ,service is great... my daughter loved her trout ,I took the anis plate and it was so fresh and good: the salmon was very good ,son and hubby took the short rib and it was ok. Appetizers were excellent,we were trying to decide what was best but couldn’t -mussles ,escargot, salmon .., my new favourite

Anis is tucked away in a small side street in Buckhead in a quaint converted home and brings all the charm of a French bistro to Atlanta. The great location pairs well with amazing decor and atmosphere made by the staff members. The calamari, mussels and steak Frites were all excellent and the extensive cocktail menu made for a great pairing. Would highly recommend for a romantic evening out or for something different with French cuisine.

Cute, authentic French bistro. Eclectic styling. Small menu. Affordable. Went for lunch and kept thinking it would be a really nice place to take a date. Not stuffy at all. Very cozy with a rustic vibe. Clientele was a bit annoying, but hey... it's a French restaurant in the south. What can you do? Had the croque monsieur and French fries. Very delicious. Teddy was upset that I didn't bring him leftovers. See photo.

Absolutely gorgeous restaurant. My wife and had an awesome time here, we sat outside although it was a warm Summer afternoon. There were fans all over the place to kill the heat. And of course they have a large wine menu. I ordered trout and it was well cooked, and before that the fresh bread and butter was killer. All in all we enjoyed the vibe and definitely recommend the place.

We went for lunch midweek. I ordered the hot ham sandwich with bechamel sauce (Croque Monsieur) and it was very tasty and filling. The patio was packed with diners, but service was still attentive. Seems to be a very popular local eatery. Prices and portions were reasonable for lunch and we expect to be back in the future.

The food was underwhelming and bland. I told 3 people that it was my boyfriend's birthday and no one remembered. When I reminded them at the end, they felt really bad for forgetting, took one of our desserts off the bill, and gave us 2 free glasses of champagne. The restaurant was pretty but crowded. Not a place to go if you are socially distancing.

We had a large group so it was very slow. I would say food does not worth the price for its quality and the dining environment. We did outside dining and there was a lot of mosquitoes. I was struggling the whole time. And a surprise bill of $42 cake fee for keeping our cake in their fridge and cutting cake for us. More

Came for early Mother's Day dinner. This is a cozy chic place where you could dress all the way up OR down and either would be appropriate, you won't feel over or under dressed either way. This a very good French restaurant. The atmosphere is casual. I had the catch of the day which was grouper. This place has the best escargot I've ever had, it was tender (not rubbery) and seemed to have been roasted and was not over powered by too much garlic as is often the case in most French restaurants.

Super great food & drinks! The bread, butter, & jam basket was amazing, and the crème brûlée was just the right amount of sweet. Our server, Lynn, was very helpful and hospitable and made our brunch even better. We’ll definitely be coming back to try the other menu items we didn’t get to try this time :)

Idyllic French-style restaurant bistro with nice deco. Food is good - nothing special. Diversity is non-existent :-) won’t deduct a star for this but you should now if “vibe” is important to you We had overall still good time

Great dinner, wonderful waiter. I had the ribeye and truffle potatoes with asparagus. My bonus daughter had salmon with veggies. Delightful dessert assortment. Anis has good outside seating, nice cozy bar area.

Food was great! Beautiful location and nice menu. Server took our order and never returned. Never filled the drinks, or checked on us after someone else brought the food. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars.

They are definitely doing something here. Filled with character and life. Cuisine is robust and service is so friendly and laid back. I got their main sandwich, the Croque Monsieur, which is a grilled cheese sandwich on steroids. Some of the best french fries I’ve ever had as well.

A super cute little French inspired bistro. That's nicely off the beaten path in Buckhead. It had a lovely and comfortably quaint atmosphere. We all seemed to enjoy our food as well as have no complaints about the service.

Definitely was a great choice for French food. The customer service is great. Love the Bistro vibe. Good place to hang out, dates and anniversaries. We enjoyed all the foods. We ordered, daily soup bread, escargot, duck confit (special) and trout.

Food was good, but a little pricey for what we get. Location is great. Service wasn't good and slowly. Didn't mention specials of the day, heart it from another table. No refills. Valet parking guy was very friendly.

Wow super cute restaurant! I feel like it's family run since many of the workers were younger, and their customer service skills were really impressive! Delicious salmon dish and salad. That cheesy risotto was yum.

Anis Bistro is a cozy french restaurant in a house/patio setting. Their cooking has been great the two times I come there. Ordered tuna this time and it was delicious. Slight hint of ginger and sauteed scallions gives a very savory taste. Good service.

  • tonya petruchik

I used to love the place, until today. The food is great, patio is nice. But 1 person can ruin the entire service. Went to use the restroom, had half of the order on the table, asked a server ( not the one who serviced me, but his coworker)

Slightly expensive but totally worth it. I know fancy places can give too small of portions but these were just right. I was full and had dessert (had to) but didn't have leftovers. Really nice flavors and combinations. Cute place. Easy to

Ladies weekend in Atlanta and decided to try Anis Cafe for dinner on a Saturday evening. We love to share plates, so that is what we did! The food was OK. We ordered the Mussels, the Escargot, the Calamari, the Trout, tomato soup, sampled

The ownership and staff were so wonderfully accommodating when I proposed to my wife here 9 years ago and nothing has changed when we take every chance to go back and celebrate that anniversary. The band was excellent and played our song

Great food - horrible service. Plates were literally yanked out from us while we were still eating and without asking. Patio so loud, we could barely hear ourselves. We were seated, served appetizers, dinner and out within 1 hour. Bill

Excellent food and a great, covered, open outdoor space for our dinner in early May for a pleasant outside temperature. We made this more of a family style meal by ordering several appetizers and entrees but sharing with all.

  • Olivia Lacey

Went here for dinner last night. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. The ambiance was pleasant and welcoming. My guest and I enjoyed our wine and dinner selections immensely. We will definitely be back again.

  • Barry Jones

Good food, good service, busy and bustling. All this shows that they have a good reputation and want to keep it that way. We had the large moules portion in a cream sauce, Muscadet and chocolate cake dessert. More

Great experience! Loved the outdoor seating in ambience! Pet friendly and must try the desserts especially the profiteroles! Enjoyed the tuna special with rosé today. Can’t wait to come back for brunch soon!

My favorite little gem in Atlanta! The food is always divine! The mussels truly are the best anywhere in the city and the wine menu is to drool over! Plus, the warm, welcoming atmosphere is a huge bonus!

  • Shaniece

My family enjoyed their meal. I had the beef short ribs with ricotta tortellini which was good but my food was served lukewarm. The seating is a little crowded but overall my dinning experience was good.

Fantastic food and service. Waiter was helpful and informative. Food was phenomenal. But we all discovered that we hate blue cheese after trying it on the cheese plate & in the rissoto.

  • Lisa Schnaubelt

Great patio, very dog friendly (brought our pup her own bowl of water), great wine, and we loved our server. Food was fine, not special. The salmon entree was the best thing we ordered.

  • Navjot Singh

Amazing place , amazing food and amazing service. A great place for a date night and they have live music on Thursday's . Book a table on OpenTable as it can get busy in the evenings
