As one of Yangon's major bus terminals, Aung Mingalar provides a chaotic yet vital transportation hub for travelers heading upcountry. Located north of downtown, the old terminal building looks worn down but don't let appearances deceive you. Inside is a constant buzz of passengers boarding buses bound for destinations across Myanmar. The best aspects of Aung Mingalar are the numerous bus lines and round-the-clock schedule. No matter what time of day or night, you can almost always find a bus heading to your intended destination. The staff, while not overly friendly, are used to guiding foreigners to the right bus. Be sure to confirm your arrival/departure times and bus details ahead of time. The downsides are the lack of amenities and organization. The waiting areas get extremely crowded with little space. There are random food stalls for snacks but no proper restaurants or conveniences. You have to check the handwritten signs on each bus to find your ride. Schedule boards are rare and confusing. Safety is also a concern, especially for solo travelers at night. Bag snatching and pickpocketing has been reported. Stay alert in the terminal and keep valuables hidden en route. Buses often leave late and arrive behind schedule, so leave ample time cushion. Overall, Aung Mingalar gets you where you need to go but inefficiently. Come prepared for the madness and leave extra time for the inevitable delays. It’s a challenging but essential Yangon bus terminal for travel upcountry.

The first impression is the entrance gate where you'll get charged 200 Kyats for getting into the terminal. It's totally nonsense. Then the roads are all bumpy and the aggressive express buses are all waiting for you. The taxis are all overcharging and there are robber-like bag carriers and real pocket snatchers. Everyone's littering and spitting that the whole neighborhood is so dirty and messy. The roads are so complicatedly structured that specific bus lines cannot be navigated and found easily. Huge bus-site with dozens of companies and their own buildings. Most of them are written in Burmese language. If you're not familiar with this you might get lost. Tell the Grab/Taxidriver which company you're riding with. Entering the site costs 200kyat for a taxi. Worth it so you don't have to run around for hours to search your departure-building. There are smaller shops with sweets, drinks and toilet articles. Also some restaurants. In early 2020 the terminal seemed to be mainly used by locals so don't expect everyone to speak English. People are friendly though :).

Multiple express gates are located and can choose express line in this Terminal. You can travel the whole parts of the country except Ayeyarwaddy Region, from this Terminal. The layout plan and design of the bus gates are not systematic and outdated. This outdated design and management plan always lead to disappointing traffic jams in main streets and road of bus terminal. Taxi services are not convenient for passengers or travellers. Tickets ‌ Brokers are a nuisance for travellers. People are very crowded and be careful with your waistband.

Confusing layout, each company has its own storefront and/or waiting area but they are hard to see and difficult to locate. Basically there are several streets within the bus terminal and the bus companies have their stores and bus parking area located on the streets somewhere. Be sure to just ask around to locate yours or get your taxi driver to do it for you. There are also lots of food stalls and various other things on the streets.

It is one of the most popular bus terminal in Yangon. Avoid who come and ask about transportation to your place . They are all liar . They don't really have car and they all commissioner . Everybody's nightmare place. Roads are poor, bus service stations are dirty, toilets are bad smell, taxi drivers are very expensive and un-ethic brokers are still there. Most of the gate names didn't specify with English, all the street signs didn't show with English name. Poor management.

There have so much Taxi Drivers and brokers when a Bus come in to Bus Terminal. And they will tell you expensive price for Taxi charge. Please tell them that I'll go alone and not allow other passenger on my Taxi. If not they will drive you with other passengers.

I rode Mandalar Minn Express from Yangon to Bagan,6 days ago. Buses are very nice and spaceful. I love to go Aung Mingala Highway Bus Station since I was young.
