This was a terrible rental experience. I reserved a Rav4 or similar; in other words, a compact SUV. At Minneapolis, I was given the keys to a huge 4-door Dodge Ram pickup truck. This is like reserving a rowboat and getting a battleship. I was planning to drive to Chicago — 400 miles — and did not want the fuel economy of a truck. Unfortunately, the only other available vehicle (!!!) was a 4-door 4-wheel-drive Toyota Tacoma. Better, but still huge and unnecessary for my needs. I tried to call Avis for help in swapping the Tacoma for something smaller along the way, but they were no help. So I drove the truck all the way to Chicago. Upon arrival in Chicago, I discovered that the dropoff location had closed an hour earlier, and there was no after hours dropoff option. I again called Avis for help, and was told that I could drop it off at the airport (45 minutes away, after an 8-hour drive, plus the need to get transportation back to the Chicago city center). I had to pay to park the truck in downtown Chicago overnight ($60) and then I was charged for an extra day rental when I returned the truck the first thing the next morning. Even though the rental location got the truck back at exactly the same time they would have if I'd been able to do after hours drop the night before. It cost me time, frustration, and more than $150 extra expense.

I don't recommend contacting them. I reserved a car with them through Uber. The price showed $140. The actual price on the spot has already risen to $215. I think, okay, they charged me a bunch of commissions and taxes. I'm filming. You can only pay by credit card. They don't take cash. I thought that was weird, oh well. They charged $415 from the card. 215 per car and 200 deposit, which is returned to the card. It’s very unpleasant, well, I put up with it too. After 2 days, I returned the car at the designated time with a full tank of fuel. Everything was checked, everything is fine. They printed a check for me for $215. I went home expecting my $200 to be returned to my card. I only got $180 back. And 2 checks arrived by email with the same check number. One for $215 and the other for $235. As a result, I have 3 checks, $20 stolen. Renting a car was 100% more than the original price. This is terrible, you plan some expenses, get others and much more, almost 2 times. This looks like a scam. Therefore, pay only by card, so as not to return the full deposit.

Our whole process was great from start to finish ! I have had some terrible experiences with car rentals and I appreciate everyone help! The prices right now for car rentals is outrageous but when I called Avis the very helpful gentleman got me an amazing deal and when I picked up the car the lady at the counter at the Minneapolis airport was just a peach and helped me super quickly and efficiently ! And no wait ! I got the type of car I wanted and it was super clean and a nice model! No issues at all with the car. Returning the car to the Minneapolis airport was also super easy and fast and the guy that took my car was friendly and had me on my way in no time at all! I wish I could remember everyones name that helped me but I just want to let it be known that everyone was just great! No surprise fees or unexpected charges ! Just want I was told on the phone . Even when I called about possibly getting a later return time the lady from the customer service line was super helpful and informative. I just really glad I went with Avis!

They are one of THE worst AVIS locations I have ever rented from. Google doesn't allow enough characters to explain how manager Mohamed "Mo" ran unauthorized charges of $535, $188, and $167. I cannot explain how Ge refused to right the wrongs of employees who wrongly closed my rental contract. There are REALLY not enough characters to describe the amount of problems with this location that every single renter before and after me had. It seems to be that Mohamed and Ge are the source of the problems. One manager, Karen, had to step in with my husband. She ended up fixing one situation and AVIS reimbursed our Lyft rides as a result of Mohamed's actions. Rent from Enterprise/Alamo at MSP. They are a MUCH better experience! The cars are CLEAN and do not need wheel bearings. The employees are cheerful and respectful. After this past weekend, all I care about is a refund. I will never rent from AVIS again.

NO cars available and when I called the LOCAL Minneapolis Minnesota phone number..the call is answered at a Call Center in Mexico The only cars available were at the Minneapolis Airport location. I ended up paying an EXHORBITANT AMOUNT for a 1 day rental - $135.00+ $101.00 for a compact/ sub compact rental that ultimately took hours (between 3 phone calls, traveling to the airport, checking in at 2 different Avis counters on 2 different levels, speaking with 2 different Avis agents, including a manager who was helpful, waiting to FINALLY exit the Avis gated area ...this was the LONGEST, MOST STRESSFUL, MOST EXPENSIVE 1 day car rental in my life !!!!!!! NEVER AGAIN !!!!!!0 star ⭐ is what I WANTED to give AVIS.

I would never rent from this company again!!!!! I sent one of my guys down to Minneapolis from North Dakota to get a truck fixed and I called and talked to them that I would pay over the phone with a credit card because the guy that was going to take the truck down there did not have a credit card . they told me that i could do it and that it would be no trouble if i prepaid I ask them 3 different times and they said it would not be a problem all he needed was a valid drivers license since i was prepaying. when my guy got down there they told him he needed that credit card in hand. now my guy was stuck down in a city with no way to get home. As for stars i really give it 0

Three days ago. I returned the car and refueled the tank fully with providing original receipt. However, I don't know why you change the "Fuel Service fee" again on my bill? I contact with your customer service, they ask me should provide the copy of receipt, but I don't have it because I give you my only original receipt. When no other rental car company would help us they got us home. I had to give my son a vehicle so he can travel back in fourth to his brain surgeons office. Well we had a reservation somewhere else but they would not allow it because I did not have a credit card. Even tho my husband did and he was on phone. But the owner here took a chance and I am forever in his dept and can't thank him enough.

I really disliked my service. I have not been able to talk to anyone about questions. I had an issue with my car and I was constantly transferred to the call center who referred me back to the store. It has been a horrible experience and I will not be a return customer. I needed to extend and the process has been daunting. This should not be this hard.

Attendant at the store in downtown Minneapolis was excellent. Wish I could have customer service people like this all the time. No pressure, showed us the cars available and allowed us to make the selection. Online price was lower than the at the store so we booked it online while sitting at the store.

Awesome Avis office. The staff are helpful, professional and so kind. My only complaint is I wish the hours were a bit longer. Closing at 1p on weekends seems so odd to me. Other than that, I had a wonderful pick up and drop off experience. Will definitely use Avis next time I’m in Minneapolis again.

I find the cars I rent from Downtown always clean, and ready to go. I have always found the staff to be very courteous and helpful when I do not understand the way new cars operate. I have been and will continue to be very satisfied with the rental when I am in need.

Felix creates an atmosphere of care surrounding your car rental. I often rent big vehicles and he remembers me in between rentals even when it’s been years. He’s upfront about everything, incredibly helpful, and makes the whole transaction personal.

Easy pick up in downtown Minneapolis, easy drop off at MSP International Airport. Car was clean, roomy and ready to go. Slight annoyance at manual seat adjustments, but that is all.

The cars are good. Always clean. Plan on waiting 30-45 minutes. Staff is not very friendly or apologetic about your wait.
