I am very disappointed in the veterinary care I recently received at Aztec Animal Clinic. I have been a longtime client at this clinic and have received good care over the years but something has changed. The care I’ve been getting lately for my dogs feels more like expensive well-care and is not what I am seeking for my dogs. I can’t help but notice lots of staff changes lately. I am writing this review in hopes that Aztec will make positive changes toward improvement in client service delivery. I recently had a sick dog whose first symptom was chronic diarrhea. The wait time between appointments, test results, and communication was unacceptable. After weeks of trying various things and waiting for test results, I was referred to a specialist. Not knowing it was an overloaded specialty practice, I had hopes that the specialist would diagnose the problem quickly. Initial test results run at the specialty clinic showed deterioration but no immediate diagnosis was forthcoming. All this time, my dog continued to physically decline. No one acted as if she was urgently sick. I felt very anxious during all this waiting and watching her get worse every day. However, I thought this was still the fastest path to success for her because Aztec knows her and had done all the testing to rule out obvious issues. She was now in the hands of a specialist! My dog died 7 weeks after the initial vet visit. No definitive diagnosis was completed and certainly nothing was provided to make her well. I suspect she died in pain. This is what I wish had happened. The veterinarian would have recognized how sick she was. The veterinarian would have triaged my dog appropriately for the dog, not for the veterinary practice. Once the first possible diagnosis turned out to be a dead end, the veterinarian would have stopped the treatment and collaborated with others (including colleagues inside and outside of the clinic) to develop an alternative diagnosis. Veterinarians at the clinic would have teamed with each other to continue diagnosis and treatment because there is an urgently sick dog at the practice. The veterinarian would have known that the veterinary specialty clinic was overloaded and not referred us since she was too sick to wait. When a dog is sick or declining, the situation calls for more attention. Messages relayed and a 24-48 hour callback are not working for sick dogs. After this experience, I have to make a change. I need more than well-care and testing services at my veterinary clinic. I need a practice that will work the hard diagnostic problems as well. So I am leaving this practice, hoping to get better support for my next sick dog. I still grieve for my girl. She deserved better.

I'm very sad to say that we have left Aztec as our primary vet due to mostly communication issues but also a sort of misdiagnosis. They were good at first but I would consider them lower than average now. Over the past year, my pup has had a plethora of odd issues regarding bowels, vomiting, and an injury. Scheduling appointments has always been easy with a quick turn around. The follow up calls after the visits are what we had the most trouble with. I would be told one thing at the clinic only to hear a different thing about when/if a follow up call will be done. When a call wouldn't happen when I expected, I would call the clinic to be told it was on the books for days later. There were numerous follow up calls that weren't updated in the system with the most updated information that was given to the clinic. One example, they would ask about vomiting but I told the clinic days ago that the vomiting had stopped almost a week ago. Or they would ask about something unrelated to the reason I asked for the consult call. The final straw for me was when my dog injured her foot. The doc did xrays and said she didnt know what the problem was so she told me to wait it out to see if it heals itself. 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks went by and there was no progression in healing so they told me that she might just be disfigured for the rest of her life and to move on. They said there was nothing they could do other than exploratory surgery. This was a cold response to an already terrible performance from the doc and nurse. So I made an appt with an orthopedic specialist at a different clinic. The new clinic requested the old xrays from Aztec but they never arrived so they had to take new images costing me unnecessary money. The doc quickly told me thay my dog had ruptured her flexer tendon from her toe but she gave me options. Tendon repair surgery which was now unlikely to work because the wound was so old and had too much scar tissue or symptom management until amputation might be necessary. In a sense, symptom management also means she will be deformed forever but at least this doc gave me options and reasoning behind it. I'm so angry that Aztec blew off my concerns and waited for so long that surgery would no longer be a good option.

Dr. Susan Truesdell,the head administrator, is EXCEPTIONALLY rude and unprofessional. Dr. Ochoa misdiagnosed our dog's cyst and when it came back, Dr. Matek was absolutely WONDERFUL and truly apologetic that we had to traumatize our dog again unnecessarily, when the issue should have been addressed correctly the first time by Dr. Ochoa. Our complaint was sent to Susan, who REFUSED to return any of our phone calls, and once I was finally able to call and get in touch with her, she was unbearably dismissive and stated she would call back and once again never did. She refused to address the double charges on our account and instead, she very cowardly emailed a letter, saying it would be best to find another veterinarian clinic. This was after she acknowledged that her staff needed to be better trained (as we were never even informed of an appointment time, and I instead had to call back and inquire). We have been clients of Aztec's for DECADES and Dr. McGuire (retired) would have been furious with these actions, as well as the decreased level of expertise that is being offered by the brand new veterinarians, without consulting senior staff. The care for the animals has decreased significantly. Dr. Truesdell clearly has no desire to make Aztec the great clinic that it once was and her behavior was deplorable, and she unfortunately brings into question the lack of professionalism of the remainder of the clinic staff. If you want caring, concerned staff who value their clients (both human and pets), please look elsewhere, because you will be greatly disappointed. Truly a shame that she was so dismissive and willing to relinquish us as clients.

My husband and I have been bringing our fur babies to Aztec Animal Clinic ever since moving to ABQ in 2003. We absolutely adore Aztec. The doctors are top notch, the staff warm and compassionate, and the facility is fantastic. I really appreciate how the Aztec team continuously works to improve the experience for the animals that they see, creating the cat only sitting area and setting aside and setting up a quiet, warm room for when it is time to say goodbye. We have always loved the staff at Aztec but the last year and a half really opened our hearts to how wonderful this clinic is. Dr. McGuire providing invaluable information and resources for planning the integration of our newborn twins with our fur babies. Hope, Jeanan, and others were amazing in helping us to get what we needed the first several months after the babies were born, including squeezing us in for an emergency vet visit for our dog Corey. What really has been amazing though has been the incredible care we have received this summer saying goodbye to our two oldest family members - we had to say goodbye to our first kitties within a month of each other. The compassionate support we received from everyone, most especially Dr. McGuire was incredible. I am deeply grateful for Dr. McGuire and the staff of Aztec.

Giving 3 stars because I did feel the vet was knowledgeable and thorough. I called ahead to ask if vet could perform a specific dental procedure on my rabbit, and was told they could. After waiting over a month for first available appointment and taking off work to drive 2 hours one way, I was told the receptionist was incorrect and they couldn’t do the procedure because they didn’t have the right equipment. I had other concerns about my rabbit so went ahead with the appointment anyways. Upon checkout, I found out a procedure I got done was $70 more than I was told it would be. When I asked receptionist why I was given the wrong price, her response was “I wasn’t in the room”. I was not trying to blame her personally, but to let her know so they can communicate better with each other and give the right info next time, but the response didn’t indicate any interest in fixing anything. More misinformation and honestly, I should’ve been given a discount for getting such wildly incorrect information that was the main reason I booked the appointment in the first place. I’ll be coming back because it’s difficult to find a decent rabbit vet in this area, but to say the least there is room for improvement.

I really like this place! They have a separate, quieter waiting area just for felines and take a lot of care to make sure that even very nervous cats like mine don't feel too overwhelmed. Once in the exam room, I felt like my concerns were listened to, but I wasn't pushed to get any tests that weren't necessary either. I felt like I was able to talk to the vet about my cat's specific circumstances and personality and get a good recommendation for what to try next to help him. It didn't feel "one size fits all" or anything like that. I also like that they carry a 3-year nonadjuvanted rabies vaccine! These are great for essentially eliminating the chance of an injection site sarcoma, but aren't something every vet carries. It's certainly a rare reaction, but my aunt's cat suffered a tumor from an injection in the scruff of the neck (another outdated practice) and so I suppose I am sensitive to what can happen. In any case, I am happy to see things like this vaccine that indicate a willingness to stay up to date on best practices. I will be bringing my other cat to Aztec as well after my experience here!

I brought my good boy, Howard, in for dental cleaning, tooth extractions, and a mass on his eyelid. Dr. Bouchet kept me informed every step of the way. The vet tech, I forgot her name (sorry!), was kind, caring, and comforting. They really helped calm my nerves about having my boy go under. Excellent and thorough care! Thank you! ❤️ New review 6/13/23: My good boy, Howard, injured his paw today on our morning walk. While we're not sure what exactly happened, Dr. Bouchet fit Howard in to his busy schedule without an appointment. I dropped Howard off and Dr. Bouchet saw to Howard quickly (I expressed concern about him spending the day in a kennel, but was willing to do what I had to in order to make sure Howard was okay), and maybe that was an accommodation to my concerns for my boy or maybe it just worked out. Whatever the reason, Howard was treated quickly and with the same care and concern as always. Howard is doing well this evening! This is why Dr. Bouchet has been my chosen vet for over 10 years. Thank you, Dr. Bouchet. Howard and I love you!

I’ve been bringing my pets to Aztec for more than 12yrs and I’m about done. Every time I make an appointment the provider is always late. Waiting more than 20m after the time of the appointment is the norm more often than not. I understand that things pop up which is why Ive been giving them the benefit of the doubt for so long. Today after waiting 10m in the room staff comes in and apologize’s again saying it’s going to be another 10m or more. Not all my pets have anxiety going to the vet but my current pooch hates it. I’ve let them know in advance with prior appointments and again, staff does a great job but it is always undone by the lack of professionalism when it comes to punctuality and/or communication. You would think in an age of communication they can let you know if they are running late with a text or phone call. So if you have all day to wait for a appointment you set up ahead of time then Aztec is your place. If you have any pets with anxiety going to the vet or expect some sort of provider punctuality then avoid this place.

I had to go here with my buddy so that he can put down his dog. He had this dog since he was in the third grade, and it was a very difficult moment. I myself have become somewhat attached to this animal, and was pretty distraught over the entire situation as well. The poor dog was just so incredibly old. His Spirit was still wanting to run around, but his body was just finished. We had to have him put down with some phenobarbital. The staff was so gentle, and understanding. I sent like there is no possible way that they could have handled the situation any better than they did. They even gave us a blanket to wrap him up again so that we may take him out to his family's property out on the reservation. When we left this establishment we had a very nice funeral service for his animal, I would definitely recommend this place to any other animal lovers out there. The staff were absolutely marvelous, and if I had an animal myself I would take them to this establishment. Definitely worth giving these people a try.

I've been taking my dog to Aztec for several years now & have never had a bad experience. In fact, every experience has been stellar. They are so kind to my dog & to me, I've never once felt ripped off, and they've never tried to push unnecessary products or procedures. In fact, they've actually saved me money by recommending a cheaper way to get heart worm pills than from them! Two years ago, my dog had to have surgery. From home, during her recovery, I had to call in a time or two with questions. I always was treated with respect & given all the time I needed to explain my concerns. These guys never give you the bum's rush. I especially love Dr. B. (Can't spell it, but it's pronounced boo-SHAY). His competency is exceeded only by his compassion and caring. Most recently, I've been very impressed by the protocols they have in place for Covid. I felt completely safe there & felt really good seeing how Aztec is caring for their staff, insuring their safety as well. I highly recommend Aztec.

I have always had positive experiences with Aztec. Every doctor that my dogs have seen has been very kind, thorough and responsible. I usually have a million questions and feel bad for asking them all but never once have I felt dismissed. Yesterday and today my chihuahua was brought in as she was not eating and very lethargic. Dr. Pease was her doctor and has been AMAZING! She is has been so empathetic (as I'm sure most of feel that our fur babies are our actual children) and has taken so much time to care my little one. The technicians have also been genuinely concerned and did not push me at all when reviewing the different treatment plan. Additionally, the receptionists have also been awesome and super friendly every time I call or come in. I'm sure it can be tough at times to put on a smiling face during a pandemic and also seeing animals in pain. I have recommended Aztec to my friends and family and will always be a patron of this wonderful establishment as long as I have fur babies!

I recommend Aztec to everyone I know, and figured I should let them (and you the reader) know. Utmost professionalism and expert care+handling of my cats. They care about what they do, your pet, and its care as much as you do! Lila had a recent checkup where they were able to provide me guidance on how her weight control has gone (year and a half ago she was remarkably larger) and gave me reassurance that she is doing well. She's always calm, happy, and friendly when around the staff as if she were back at home which is important to me. Their fees are very reasonable as well which is nice, though not a deciding factor for my animals care. I've taken both past animals (prior to a separation while I was a co-owner of them) and my current ones there and never had a bad experience. Fingers crossed I never need to take either of my sailfin dragons in, but I know if I did they would be in good hands, the care they need, and sound guidance.

I just completed my first appointment with Aztec for my 2 year old Yorkiepoo, Charlie. Dr. Sedam was soft spoken, gentle with my pup, informative with me, and very thorough answering my questions, pertaining to both Charlie and their clinic, prices, etc. The tech I had was Lindsey. She was amazingly engaged with me and Charlie. He responded to her like he had known her his entire life. Whined when she left the room. Additionally, Lindsey spent an abundance of time interacting with me, addressing all my concerns, asking questions about how I was doing, and showed a true passion for her work and it’s affect on both her human and furry clients. I am a very good read of character and both Dr. Sedam and Lindsey showed nothing but the utmost care, compassion, and concern. And lastly, the prices were very reasonable. I am incredibly pleased with Charlie’s new health providers and would recommend them to anyone looking.

I had my first visit with 2 newly adopted cats on Thursday afternoon. The clinic staff are so kind, helpful, and efficient. Once inside, I was directed to a "cat-only" sitting area so as to separate dogs and cats and help alleviate anxiety for the animals. The staff provided me with 2 blankets with which to cover the cat carriers and had sprayed them with cat pheromones to calm down my cats. This level of service was unexpected but greatly appreciated. I saw Dr. Mary England. She was comprehensive, engaging, and really went above and beyond to help answer my questions. Afterwards, the 2 vet techs came in with an estimate for a procedure and went through each line to explain to me the estimates and the type of care my cat would receive. I was really impressed with this facility and would highly recommend it to anyone in the area looking for compassionate, comprehensive care for their furry loved ones.

Finally found a primary vet in Albuquerque! I was very pleased with my service today. Everyone at the front desk was friendly upon arrival. Aesthetically, The vet office was very clean and spacious. I found Dr. Mateo to be very thorough and of course knowledgable during the examination. He and his vet tech (Acia, I believe) generously gave my pup small pieces of treats during the exam since she exhibited some skittish behavior (most likely due to her previous hospital visit and current injury). Dr. Mateo suggested a least invasive route to care for my pup before resorting to something more painful for my pup. We were given a choice between two different care plans, which was nice to visually see laid out. Everyone seemed very caring and attentive towards my fur kid which I appreciated! All in all, I will be back for my pets needs. Thank you so much for seeing us!

THANK GOD for Aztec Animal Clinic! Literally life savers for helping us in our boys time of need. Our GSD injured his tail and was bleeding for almost an hour and wouldn’t let us touch him or help, so blood was everywhere while we tried getting him into the car. To make it worse, while we were trying to calm him down, we called every veterinary clinic/hospital we could find on google, with NO help from the first 25 places we called. Aztec Animal Clinic was our saving grace. They took him in right away, cared for him, and he trusted them right away, and went back with them without hesitation. They stapled him up, and had such care in wrapping it all up for him. They gave instructions on home care, and were extremely friendly towards our boy and us. We are BEYOND grateful for their amazing staff, and this awesome vet! Do not hesitate to bring your furry friends here. :)

I had a four year old rat who developed a tumor, for three months I called vets around albuquerque asking to be seen and was either told to just wait for him to pass or that they refused to take on a new patient. He was suffering due to age and his condition and needed to be put down. In desperation I called Aztec and begged for an appointment, the person on the phone was extremely kind, they spoke to exotic vet and got me in the same day. I was a bit late due to living across the city from them and how close we had to call the appointment but again I was reassured and comforted. The exotic vet was the sweetest i’ve ever met and guided me through the entire process and answered all of my questions. They helped make a very sad stressful situation into a simple and calm one. I’m so happy I found this place and will be using this vet for any other pets from now on!

This is the only animal hospital out of 20 that we called that was not only willing to take our dog (even though we were non-existing clients), AND they all showed an amazing attitude and heart to help and make things happen on a very short term notice. Phenomenal office manager Janann even worked overtime to help with the health certificate despite approaching a day off. I can’t express how much that meant to us, because we could have otherwise not left the country with our dog. In other clinics you hear: “we don’t take new patients, next appointment is in two weeks, it’s against our protocol to squeeze you in”, etc. We know that Aztec was also fully booked out, but they still made it happen. We recommend this clinic to everyone! Also Dr. Sedam and his assistant were very kind, extremely helpful, and our dog also felt it. Thank you!

My friends recommended Aztec Animal Clinic as I was new in town and needed a vet. I filled out an appointment request online and received a prompt phone call. They communicate extremely well and sent paperwork before the visit. We were welcomed into the office. There was plenty of room to accommodate all the animals, even a dedicated kitty waiting area. We were shown to an exam room quickly. Dr. Jones and her assistant were fantastic. My dog was nervous. There were treats and affection. They were thorough, answered my questions, and provided local information. I was given an estimate before any services were rendered with different options - all explained. I received a text with test results and a Welcome Card with an emergency contact information card for my pets. Love Aztec Animal Clinic. Highly recommend them.

Where have these people been all my life as a pet mama? New in town and got me right in when my dog developed an eye infection. Staff was friendly and caring and they obviously love their jobs. Dr. Sedam was very thorough and clear in his exam. I mentioned my pup loves cheese (only thing he would eat that morning because he felt bad) and the next thing I know, the tech has brought him some cheese to the exam room! But the best part...I have never had a vet actually talk to me about how much I am spending and giving me options on treatment while in the exam room. Usually I just get "sticker shock" once it is over. So appreciated, and the cost was very reasonable for what we had done. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. Thank you, Aztec Animal Hospital. You have a client for life!

I posted the following before, and it still holds true: "We have never had anything other than the best care for our animals in the almost 9 years we have been using Aztec Animal Clinic. We love and appreciate all of the amazing Doctors, Technicians, Assistants, and Front office personnel. Everyone is prompt, professional, friendly, but most important of all, every single person we come into contact with is so caring towards our pets AND towards us owners. We love you Aztec!" Since the last time I posted, our senior kitty cat passed away. Despite it being one of the worst days ever, everyone at Aztec supported us and made sure that her passing was treated with care, respect, and dignity. I will always hold on to the kindness that everyone showed me and my cat that day.

I called around to many vets today, a Saturday, trying to get a last minute appointment for my sick cat. I was shunned away at many places for being a "new patient". From the moment, I called Aztec, they made me feel comfortable and important. They were able to squeeze me in the schedule today, and didn't make feel like I was an inconvenience! When I arrived, the staff was extremely pleasant and so prompt. Dr. Darbie was so patient with my sick, nervous cat. She spent more time with us than any vet I've ever been to. She gave us a wide range of diagnostic/treatment options and was up front about all of the costs. (Which I appreciated more than I can say) I will definitely be bringing all of my animals here from now on. I will definitely refer Aztec to everyone!

I honestly don't know why I haven't written a review sooner. I feel so lucky to have found Aztec animal clinic for both my cat and guinea pigs. The staff at the front either in person or on the phone are always so nice, knowledgeable and quick to help. Scheduling is easy and the e-mail reminders are so nice, especially when life gets busy. I've had the pleasure of working with three of their amazing veterinarians and they have all been so amazing. One of my favorite aspects of Aztec's care is how involved they make you in the animals care. Every procedure, exam, and test is thoroughly explained before started. I couldn't recommend them enough!! You and your fur (or feathered) kids will love it here!

This was the most comprehensive and kind practice I have ever been to in New Mexico (and not just regarding animal clinics). The people who work at Aztec truly love what they do and it shows in the quality of care they provide and in their attitudes. Not only did my little lionhead rabbit have excellent care while in their office, but the Dr. and staff called to check in on him and sent a letter of appreciation for choosing their clinic. I was impressed by their level of expertise, knowledge, professionalism, and overall their genuine sincerity. If every business operated the way Aztec does, it would be a joy to run errands and go to the doctor! Thank you Dr. Blossom and staff!

Dr. Maggie Jones did dental work on my 9 yo cat, Magic. Dr. Jones was extremely kind and communicative, giving me all the details of what to expect with parameters on possible things that could be discovered during the procedure. Magic ended up losing one small premolar and had all the calculus removed from his other teeth. Dr. Jones provided me complete and accurate post-op outcome information and instructions and the clinic followed up with me for the next several days including a two calls from Dr. Jones personally. Magic is doing great and I couldn't be happier with the level of communication, professionalism and expert care that he received from Dr. Jones and Aztec.

Update: Aztec has really gone downhill over the past year. Every single time (I am not exaggerating) we have called with an issue regarding our dog, we have had to call multiple times over the course of a week. Each time we are told that for “some reason” our previous messages weren’t recorded. I’ve looked through the most recent reviews, and it seems as though I’m not the only one who has noticed the marked decline in responsiveness and overall sense of responsibility and accountability over the past year. Makes me wonder if it’s a management change. Dr. Blossom took my concerns seriously and came up with a solution that will hopefully help my dog. Thank you so much!

I adopted a Australian cattle dog from the Westside animal shelter a week ago and was required to get a vet appointment within 14 days, the shelter recommended v*a as the vet, but I took my last dog to them & they are 1 of the most expensive veterinarians in abq, so Aztec was right down the street and I called, @ 1st they couldn't see us for another 2 weeks, but they would happily honor the complimentary vet vist because of being an adopted shelter dog. they called me back in 15 minutes and said they had an immediate opening if I wanted to come in. long story short; they are very compassionate and broke down what my dog Murphy needs.

We recently adopted two young dogs from the ABQ shelter, and we were delighted to see Aztec listed as providers for complimentary checkups in our adoption packet. Our veterinarian and vet tech went above and beyond for us and our two new family members. As a matter of fact, the whole crew from reception to exit was friendly, professional and efficient. Naturally, anything beyond the standard exam accrued charges; I mean the extras, such as labs and meds, but it was really nice to receive a free visit from our neighborhood provider for our new BFFs. We feel confident we have found a great veterinarian team in the neighborhood.

I've been taking my pups here on and off for years. The upside: They are always kind and patient with us and our pups. They are great at explaining things and working with you to determine best course of action. They recommend what is best for your pet. The downside: It's not the most affordable vet, but it does appear reasonable. The process for obtaining medications through online pharmacies is not very convenient, but this seems possibly systemic and not specifically related to this clinic. Overall excellent customer service from support and medical staff and high quality service. I HIGHLY recommend this vet clinic.

They helped me when I needed an emergency visit for my sugar glider. I called everywhere, everyone was booked but these guys where the only ones to ask for my info in case there was a cancellation. Which thank goodness they did have one so I was able to take my little dude in! Once there we were taken care of quickly and professionally. You can tell this vet understands gliders as the last time I took him elsewhere it did not go well in terms of handling. She was just plain amazing in how calmly and well she helped us. I would fully recommend you take your pets here, it’s affordable and everyone really cares a lot!

I love these guys. In the past couple of months, we have been here twice. The first time we unfortunately had to put down our beloved Molly, and they were so compassionate and understanding during our difficult decision... The second time was to bring our other two companions in for shots and regular check ups, and again, they were just great with our dogs and took the time to get to know us and our dogs and make sure we left feeling like they genuinely cared about our pets. I would recommend this vet office a hundred times over. They all really seem to love their profession and love all the patients that come in!

This clinic takes advantage of animal lovers' lack of knowledge to convince them to pay for more care than medically recommended, usually at a high price. They seem focused on making money off devoted pet owners. I only started to figure this out once my dog had a medical finding that is common in humans, and as a physician I realized Aztec was recommending things that would cause more risk than benefit for my dog. They were unable to provide explanations for these recommendations. Once I established with another vet that I trusted, I found out that the Aztec providers were not following up to date guidelines.

Aztec Animal Clinic is wonderful! I have brought my animals here over the years and my parents have as well. All of the veterinarians (really miss Dr. Matek) and staff are great! In regards to pricing, their prices are fair based on the average cost of veterinarian care. They are not a low-cost clinic, so I believe some people that are used to low cost clinics are shocked when they find out the normal price of veterinarian care. If they are not accepting new patients, there is a national shortage of veterinarian care. It's not the fault of the Aztec Animal Clinic staff or the business itself.

Very knowledgeable, considerate, professional, and trustworthy. I am so very grateful for their competence and dedication to providing the best possible ethical and informed care for my cat. We go for regular check ups and blood work, and so far, have had 1 set of vaccines and 1 dental cleaning with multiple extractions. All going well. I won't go to anyone else now. They really care about comfortability, and believe in "No Fear" (they never want your pet to fear coming to the vet in the future). These are good people. Thank you for being so wonderful to my babyguy!

Super nice and caring staff. They were able to get my cat in last minute for an ear issue and called to check on her after the appointment. It's nice that everyone from the staff that checks you in to the vet themselves seems to actually care about your pet ❤️ Update: our cat sadly passed away from cancer a few days ago. They worked very hard to get her in and keep her healthy. When she passed in her sleep at home they got us in right away to coordinate cremation. We'll be bringing our future kitties here for sure as the staff all clearly care about our pets.

After going to a vet who did nothing to test my dog's lump, I brought her to Aztec and we saw Dr. Blossum. Believe me, this clinic deserves all the stars. She was professional, calm, kind and very gentle with my dog. She explained everything and even showed me what the costs would be for the tests. ( Wow!) When the tests showed the lump was not malignant I was overjoyed. I realized the other vet clinic could have done this, instead I spent time worrying and if my dog had had a cancer she would have been very sick. We will be Aztec clients from now on!

I was very happy with Aztec, it is clean, spacious and friendly, love the separate area for cats to wait. Dr Georges was extremely good with my cat and very knowledgeable, as was the tech, Molly. Alice was so at home, she roamed the exam room, loved on the vet and tech. I do find it a bit pricey compared to others, which is a problem for a retired person on a fixed income, but other than that, I give it five stars. Everyone was super friendly and nice. We were just there for a checkup, but I am sure in an emergency they would be every bit as good.

These guys saved my dog many years ago and have since cared for her like she was their own dog. They have veterinarians who can see exotic animals as well, and they always took great care of my ferrets too. Can't be a better clinic in all of Albuquerque. They are always happy to work with me on what tests are really necessary, they make sure that the money I spend goes the furthest for my pets. I hear about the bills people get from other clinics, I think Aztec must also be more reasonably priced than other clinics in town as well.

I just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to Dr. Ochoa, the vet techs, and all the wonderful people who work there that helped my cat Bob! This is such a great place to take your pet. They take the time to explain what services are best for your situation. They make sure that they explain how much things are going to cost before they do anything. They are absolutely wonderful!! I will definitely be recommending them to all my family, and friends. You all are just AMAZING!! Thank you for helping me with my cat Bob!

This is my vet of choice and has been for ten years now. Almost 11. I found them via a tragic circumstance and had to euthanize a kitten. During the diagnostic process and the hard end they took care of me as well as my cat. This has not changed. On top of that they are affordable. One of their doctors even saved my life via a diagnosis I share with a cat that is so obscure she was ten before anyone figured it out. She just turned 21 and is going strong. I don't think there could be a better team for me and my fuzzy family.

I have been taking my pup to Aztec for two years and couldn't rave about them enough. Dr. Jones is compassionate, honest, and hilarious. The way they work with my dog makes me and my pup feel very comfortable, to the point that my dog didn't want to leave even after a blood draw and vaccine. When my dog had a bigger issue, they were quick to offer a referral for a specialist to get a second opinion. I am also a first time dog owner and they always answer my silly questions with a smile. Thank you Aztec!!

Highly recommend their puppy preschool. I had my 10.5 month old puppy go through their puppy pre-school. She absolutely loved it. She was an amazing dog. That is up until we had her spay surgery at this animal clinic. They said the surgery went well, we took her home and over the next few hours she declined quickly. She traumatically died in our arms as we rushed to the emergency vet. The emergency vet was able to determine that her ligatures came lose from the surgery and she bled out internally.

I am so happy I took my dog to Aztec Animal clinic. I was concerned he had a UTI or something worse. Dr. Jones and the staff was wonderful and very personable. Also, my Doberman was happy there. The people behind the desk were awesome, and Dr. Jones and the assistant were wonderful. I will most definitely bring my other dog and my Bearded Dragon to this veterinary clinic when that time come. I highly recommend this veterinary clinic to anyone who values excellent customer services on all fronts!

I am so grateful for the staff at Aztec Animal Clinic. I had to make the hardest decision that I have ever had to make. I had to put my handsome boy down, they allowed me as much time with him as needed and kept the processes simple and understandable. The care they showed my Kirito is something I will forever remember. Dr. Sedam is by far the most compassionate person I have ever had the privilege of meeting under these circumstances. I will continue to bring any future animals to this clinic.

What an amazing practice! Although I'm a new client, they got me in within the same day when I called to let them know that my cat was sick. Although she's normally aggressive at the vet, they took their time with her, only did the exams she needed most, and let her take breaks to make sure she didn't feel too scared. As a result, she was well behaved! Aztec even called me back the day after the appointment to check in and find out how she's doing. I'm so happy with this amazing level of care!

Dr. Schaefer really understands the importance of a kid's pet! They understood that this wasn't just about a little animal's life, it was also my son's mental health. I can't say enough good things about this clinic and Dr. Schaefer in particular. Our small exotic pet had some unusual and unexpected complications, and they really went above and beyond to make sure she was ok. This pet is now going to live a happy long life with my son because of their incredible compassion and competence.

I had a really good experience with this vet and I'll be happy to return with our dog again. The registration process was very easy and efficient. The staff was already on top of things by sending email reminders and phone calls the day prior to remind me. At the vet, they gave my pup plenty of treats and treated him very well. The pricing is also reasonable and not overly expensive for the services rendered. I look forward to returning for his annual vaccinations and other treatments.

We brought our dog in for a vague symptom, and Dr. Sedam was respectful and curious and did not blow us off. He was gentle and checked in with us by phone a week later regarding our dog’s symptoms. Ultimately, he made an early diagnosis of a serious illness, and we are so grateful that we have the options to treat our beloved dog to prevent him from dying early. We are so so thankful to everyone at the clinic. The techs and the receptionists have been kind and professional. Thank you!!

I have been taking my dog to this clinic for over 8 years. The doctors and staff at this clinic are absolutely wonderful. They have provided excellent care through the scary medical emergencies to general wellbeing visits for my dog. All of the vets are great but Dr. Georges has been wonderful to work with over the years. I always feel like the doctors and staff treat my dog as if she was one of their own pets and I don't think I could ask for much more. Highly recommend this clinic!

Thank you so very much for taking care of the rabbits Fiver and Cream! They had a wonderful visit. I was worried it would stress them out but we got home and they were just as happy as before we left home. Fiver has started his pain medication and antibiotics and we will see you back in a few weeks. Creams crazy growing teeth look amazing Dr. Jones! He thanks you! He can eat in comfort now! Dr. Wilson, the techs and other staff members provided meaningful and loving care to my two dogs that struggle with anxiety. Everyone was so caring and understanding. I am grateful for the time provided to listen to my concerns and the careful feedback I received. I did not feel rushed or overlooked, and I had the opportunity to ask all of my questions and get clear information. I was helped immediately upon entering. My entire appointment for both dogs lasted an hour.

Aztec has always gone above and beyond to help my cats. Dr. Matik, Dr. Pease, Jordan. . . When my Lucy cat was sick they all stayed late, kept in constant contact with me, and stayed positive but honest about her condition. They'd call with ideas that I could afford, and when I had to make the hard call, they were compassionate and Dr Jones kept the office open late so I could say goodbye. I'll always be grateful for the way they took care of my Lucy. Thank you all.

I relocated from out of state earlier this year. I thought I’d never be able to find a vet that could compare to my vet back home. Fortunately, I found Aztec Animal Clinic! Our dogs have seen both Dr. Diego Matek & Maggie Jones, who are excellent! RVT, Ellen has also been great! She has had lengthy phone conversations with me regarding the care of our dogs. The staff at Aztec Animal Clinic is thorough, patient, and seem to genuinely care about their clients.

I never thought I'd feel strongly enough about somewhere to write a review. But taking my dog to Aztec was a great experience. Dr. Matek is hands down who I am going to take my pets to from now on. He just saw my husky and was very sweet to him. He also took the time to explain everything to me and did not come across condescending in the least. The front office staff is also GREAT. So happy to have found somewhere I want to take both my pups and business.

I'll let my dog give the review. He wants to frequently make social visits to Aztec. When we are out walking and within a block of the clinic, he literally pull me in that direction and wants to go in - even when it's 6:30 am. The staff always greet him and enjoy his visits. The staff have always been responsive and attentive. From my point of view they are very professional and caring. I couldn't ask for a better place to care for my best friend.

We have two special needs pets and the doctor's at Aztec provide the best in care along with being educated in the latest developments in veterinary science. Aztec Animal Clinic provides outstanding veterinary care. Their veterinarians spend a lot of time with our dogs during appointments so the dogs are comfortable and not afraid of the vet's office. They really help dog owners with behavior issues and give tips on basic obedience. Their puppy class is especially good. They provide our dogs with excellent care and identify issues before they become a major problem. We love Aztec!

We love the welcoming attention we and our dog receive from Aztec's staff in the waiting area. Our veterinarian discovered our dog's autoimmune condition early, and although it was a difficult time, she was empathetic and helped us remain optimistic. Our dog is happily strong and healthy again. We appreciate the time given to answer our questions. They truly care about each animal they treat as though it were their own.

Love this vet clinic! Everyone is very kind and the docs are very thorough. I like that they have some later appointments too because it is difficult for me to do appointments before work lets out. They will send reminders when you're fur child is due for exams and immunizations and you can get same week appointments. If money is tight they will prioritize what your animal urgently needs and what can probably wait.

Jannan English is a scam artist and was verbally abusive towards me on two occasions. Management refused to assist in any way after repeatedly saying they would. They even made Dr Ochoa handle billing issues which was a total joke. Janan sent my last bill to collections AFTER I paid it as a final petty move. I sincerely hope no one else is subjected to Janan English or the inept management of Aztec Animal Clinic.

We liked everything about our visit to Aztec Animal Clinic. We were impressed by the calming blanket that was placed over our cat when we arrived. The staff was welcoming and friendly. We like Dr. Bouchet very much. He took time with us, answered our questions, and was gentle with our little feral cat who once had a nest in the tree in our front yard and has moved in and adopted us as her family.

We took our cat to Aztec after a very disappointing visit to a vet in Edgewood which did not give us information, just meds, about our cat's condition/diagnosis. Dr. Pease visited with me and told me some diagnoses she would be looking at as well as the appropriate testing. Very thorough and very compassionate. She has a passion for her work. Highly recommend this clinic for your fut babies!!

Aztec Animal Clinic is my primary vet for my 1 year old cat Bobby. The staff is prompt when answering phone calls, provides timely reminders of upcoming appointments and are true animal lovers. My Bobby is always well taken care of when we visit. She gets scared when we travel to new places but the techs and vets give her the attention and care she needs. Definitely recommend this place

I’ve been taking my cats here consistently since around 2017 and I’ve never felt more comfortable at a vet clinic as I am here! The staff is amazing and I’ve never had a bad experience here. Reception, vets and techs are always so helpful and amazing! The vets & techs are so gentle and loving with my animals and always do their absolute best! Special shout out to Dr Pease & Dr Matek!

No. Imagine the economy being so bad, that I cannot even afford tape for the box I'll need to bury my pet. This vet could have helped and saved my beloved pet, if they offered a payment plan. You fix her up, do whatever it takes to save her, I will make sure you are paid every penny you ask for. The love of my life lays motionless on the kitchen floor, waiting for death. As do I.

My dog doesn’t like to be examined, but Dr. Georges and her assistant Stacy were able to keep him calm and he didn’t seem to mind at all. They explained the medical problems clearly, and gave me different options and prices to treat him. The staff was friendly and I was fortunate enough to make an appointment the same day. I recommend Aztec Animal Clinic to all pet lovers.

Aztec Animal Clinic has been the vet for my doggie Ottis since I adopted him (2018). They are always straight forward with cost, care, and transparency. They are also always willing to go the extra mile to make sure Ottis and I felt comfortable and safe. I have been to other vet services and they are nowhere close to feeling at home in the vet clinic I get from Aztec!

I've absolutely loved taking my dog to Aztec Vet Clinic. I was able to bring her in to the Puppy Preschool and Socialization class, and she still loves going to the vet's office and seeing everyone there. Everyone at the clinic is great to work with, and I greatly appreciate that the veterinarians will explain/walk through different treatment options if/when needed.

The staff here are friendly both to me and my dog. They have treats at the ready to calm pets who get anxious for their check-ups. The doctors and techs are clear and thorough in answering questions, explaining treatment options, and going over pricing for services. While visits here are a bit expensive, I personally find the service to be well worth the price.

Good doctors. Terrible front office. Was moving out of town and had a final checkup for my dog. During this visit I asked multiple people and managers to ensure all my bills and charges had been covered. They assured me multiple times everything was fine. 2 years later they send my account to collections due to "outstanding charges". They're a joke.

We came here looking for a second opinion on our senior dog's wound. Dr. Pease was very kind, gentle, and patient with our old pup. She explains in detail what was going on, what the plan of care is and a follow up. She answered all my questions thoroughly and in layman's terms. Very happy with the care that was provided here! Will be back!

Aztec Animal Clinic is awesome! They are great to my kitty. I deeply appreciate how clearly they explain what procedures they are doing, as well as giving detailed cost estimates prior to large or expensive procedures (such as dental work). Dr. England is incredibly kind and knowledgeable, as is the rest of the staff. Highly recommended!

The staff are courteous and explain what they are doing when they put your pet down and Barbara McGuire was our vet when she was at Too Grand animal clinic and Dr. George's also is a wonderful doctor. She helped me when I had to put my cat down recently. She gave me time to say good by to my furry friend. And that meant a lot to me.

These peeps are amazing. I been taking my kiddos here for Many years and because there are so many awesome people that work there, A nice lady was able to take my chameleon and give him a great home. I have to write a review about Dr. Matek...he is by far my favorite vet that I've had for my babies! He always remembers them and any prior issues! He's always so informative and never tries to 'push' anything on us. He's always great about following up and is just fantastic to work with! I cannot say enough good things about him!

Dr Matek is lovely. He is kind and gentle and very knowledgeable. The office is quiet and clean and the techs and admin are very friendly and patient. Their prices are lower than many clinics and they are very clear about what you are spending. So far, we have only had good experiences here. Dr Matek is highly recommended.

After holding my panic dog for 45 minutes I left. I had ask when the Dr. would be available and was told they were cleaning the room and then she would be available. The Dr. talked to me in the parking lot as I was leaving and informed me she had an emergency and that was why she was so delayed. I obviously was lied to.

Vet tech was SUPER genuine in his sweet deminor with my puppy, and even took the time to help me figure out some potty training techniques. Vet called me on my phone and was patient, answered all my questions, was very clear about the physical exam. So nice, very reasonably priced; I’ll continue to go to this clinic!

This is my spot for animal care! They take such great care of our animals. They offer pheromone blankets to help calm stressed kitties; a vet clinic has never offered those to us and it has changed vet visits for us. They can often get us in the same day or next. I really appreciate this clinic and it's people!

Dr. Matek had excellent bedside manner and treated both me and my new puppy with patience and answered all my questions. The front desk is always polite, and go above and beyond to help. They were able to see my puppy for an urgent visit when he had a cold, and I appreciate them being able to accommodate us.

Very professional staff and extremely knowledgeable! We have a rare dog breed, Swedish Vallhunds, and they made sure they researched them prior to our visit. The staff is always very friendly and professional! We no longer live in Albuquerque, but I would recommend them to anyone in that area!

I’ve been taking my dogs here for over 15 years. They’ve been great. Many vet offices can’t accommodate you if you have an emergency. They refer you to an emergency vet. Rarely has that happened for me with Aztec. our vet and all the staff are friendly and professional. Highly recommend.

I saw Dr. Donnelly for a prescription emergency. They were able to get me in last minute and Dr. Donnelly really understood my situation which put me at ease. Vet tech, Lindsey, was phenomenal as well. Great service, friendly and will definitely establish care here for future visits.

Dr. Pease was so compassionate and patient w me. Answered my questions and didn’t rush me off the phone. She actually cared about the outcome of my pup. I used to go to Northview and I would always leave mad because the staff was so rude. Never w Aztec!! Everyone there is very sweet.

We love our local vet! They are trained in no-fear procedures which has worked well for our bernedoodle so far. She didn’t even mind going back for the first visit after her spay. They always seem to have same-day appointments available during the week when we need them.

My family has taken their pets to Aztec for years. There has never been a vet or vet tech that I haven't thought was great. I am 80 now so that covers a lot of years! Yesterday, my present dog, Willie, and I saw Dr. Love and, as usual, had we both had a terrific visit.

Dr. Bouchet is an awesome vet. His interaction with your pets is absolutely incredible. The clinic is far from my home but I will gladly make the drive because of the excellent care. The staff is polite and accommodating. I will continue to go there for my pets care.

Best clinic I've ever been to. They were thorough and my cat was not stressed after being there. They even called the next day to check on him even though they are swamped with patience. Walked out with a $150.00 bill was expecting 300 and up.

Couldn’t see my cat today because he’d be a new patient. Come on... So apparently they have time for regulars but not time to take a look at my cat. All these vet places are the same. There needs to be more walk in options for our loved ones.

We switched all four of our dogs over to this clinic recently. Very impressed by the professionalism and sincerity shown by the office staff and the knowledge and compassion from the vet techs and vets. We are so grateful for the team there!

Great place to take your pet for loving care. Friendly staff, knowledgeable and caring. Because they are so good, sometimes they get real busy but they don’t show it while they examine your pet. I love this place. They truly do love animals.

They have always been amazing with my bully boxer Skyler she gets excited and sometimes aggressive with other dogs when she goes to the vet but we call ahead and they make sure to let us know if the waiting room is clear for us to take her
