Bike and Forth is not perfect but it is a damn good shop with which to do business. I first have to say it is a confusing name for a business…”and” is supposed to be an anagram for “dan” making the name “Bike Danforth”.. Well, nobody I spoke with got this, found it interesting when I told them or could care repeating it. Too much time on someone’s hands I think.. Enough rambling. There are 3 main players at the shop: the owner John, the manager junior (and yes that’s his real name) and the mechanic who has since been replaced. The mechanic was replaced because he overstated his credentials and was cockey. He claimed to know everything but had no idea or any interest in learning about electrical scooters. Subsequently he got everything wrong about my bike. He failed to know I needed an upgraded controller for the additional voltage I requested, he didn’t investigate if my motor sensor could handle the upgrade (which it couldn’t), he was unable to wire the new configuration and didn’t recognize my chain sprocket belonged on the other side of the bike. These failings left me stranded twice! I don’t, however, blame the owner for not recognizing the failings of his mechanic; the owner has been away lots from the shop due to family priorities. Junior is not a salesman. I am actually a salesman by trade and I can list all the mistakes he made such as asking for payment when I just said I haven’t yet made up my mind. What junior did do was go over backwards to ensure I got everything I wanted and do everything he could in customer follow up. I must say he was a little forgetful at times but when I reminded him of what was needed he was quick to service. The owner is someone who doesn’t spend nearly enough time around the shop. The only bad thing I can think of him is a lot of people may take him the wrong way: he comes across as either all business or too personal. For me I see him as who he is and don’t take any of this negativity the wrong way. What I want to say about John is he is an excellent businessman meaning he knows value for a buck and he knows customer service. He has gone over backwards to ensure my satisfaction once he found out the problems with my purchase. I now have new batteries, new mirrors and lots of stuff done perfectly. He even called me the day after to see how everything was running. What I bought was a Daymak Amalfi that I upgraded to 72V of power; I plan on upgrading again. It runs beautifully although I still have minor repairs to make. I got a discount as it was last years floor model. I easily recommend Bike and Forth to anyone looking for an eBike. It’s the strength of the people that make a store and John, Junior and a new mechanic make the difference here. I will not hesitate to buy from them again for an upgrade or a trade in when the time comes. They’re worth checking out for yourself.

Short: E-Bike's don't last more than 6 months from normal wear and tear warranty isn't honored, customer service is non existent. Longer: We bought a bike here. About 6 months later it broke. Fine we still had the warranty, that we paid for. When we called they said (without seeing the bike) that it would cost money. We brought the bike in. They said the repair wasn't covered because we hit a pothole (that didn't happen). Their mechanic told me that he sees this all the time and the bikes aren't built well and don't last. The manager (Jen) had absolutely no power to do anything. She wouldn't honor our warranty even though they admitted the damage was from normal wear and tear and referred me to the owner. It would cost us $150 to fix the bike. The owner arrived 30 minutes later. He didn't greet me, come up to me in fact it looked like he was trying to get out of their asap. I went over and politely introduced myself and explained the situation. He said we could pay and he would fix the bike and walked away. The manager was sympathetic but couldn't do anything. In the end we found someone else to fix the bike for $30. I will not shop here again. I would recommend you don't even come in the door as they are all smiles when they're selling you something but could care less once you walk out the door.

I was apprehensive before going to this shop after reading the reviews (mostly negative at the time of writing this). But since the bike shop was close to my house and it was open I went anyways. The first thing I noticed was there are no prices on any of the bikes. The inventory is all spread out. While it doesn't exactly scream "professional dealer" it does sort of indicate negotiable prices on already fairly affordable used bikes. Some are in the back room and in a truck on the street. I was shown everything they had and then John recommended one that was in my budget. I asked for a 10% discount and immediately said he would honor my price. He tuned it thorouglhy and I haven't had any problems with it. The front tire needed a little more air a few weeks later and there are minor cosmetic problems (rust, the gear shifter has 21 speeds but the bike itself is only 15 speed, etc.) but overall I am very satisfied. I don't know if I would buy an e-bike from the store as I can't speak to the quality of their electronic components, but if you just want a good simple bicycle for a reasonable price, I definitely think it offers tremendous value.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I wish I took photos but I went to Byron's Bike to get a proper repair. If I could rate this place -5 I would. The supposed owner is aggressive and uneducated in the manner of his own shop. I went there to get my ignition fixed and all three of my ebike keyset changed. I paid $200 upfront and did not receive a good service. My bike came back to me with screws and bolts missing, my ignition out of its spot and nothing else being done. I was not provided the service that I had FULLY paid for so I asked for some of my fees back and went through hell and back just to reclaim some of my stolen money. The mechanic in secret said to me that he was sorry but that I was being conned by the manboy named John. A police officer had no choice but to get involved with the thievery and was able to get me $70 dollars back I plead with you to NOT go to this shop but instead check out Byron's Bikes . If I had went there first then the horrific experience from this unprofessional bike shack would've been avoided.

The owner tried to manipulate and deceive me into getting repairs that weren’t necessary but because of my knowledge I was able to pinpoint the issue with my bike. I have caught him in lies, he contradicts himself in his eagerness and greed. The mechanic who used to work for him has since moved to Dayak near Curity- be forewarned, this mechanic speaks convincingly but his work is shoddy and cobbled together. I am amazed that he remains in business considering that his entire modus operandi is based on deception. If you want to deal with someone who tells you one amount to ‘hook’ you then suddenly raises the price with no recollection while trying to intimidate you AND having the pleasure of dealing with meth/crackhead staff then this is the place for you! He will also try to force a cash deal- why? So that there is no record- therefore no accountability on his part. His bad reputation has been deservedly earned. Stay away.

I brought my Amego e-bike in to the store to have it repaired.. A young guy who works at the store (not sure if he is the owner's son) tried to get me to sell him my bike for $100. I had to let them know the battery in the bike itself is worth more than $100. When I collected the bike the issue wasn't even fixed. I returned to the store and the same young man tried to tell me that he had mentioned that there is a possibility that the issue wouldn't be fixed. I firmly stated that that was not the case and asked him why I would agree to pay $300.for an issue that might not be fixed. He asked me to calm down .I wasn't even being rude I was speaking firmly and affirmatively. Shortly after that he was swearing at me. The owner had to ask him to calm down. I am not even sure that there was a new motor put in my bike. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!

This place loves to treat customers like they’re a nuisance for coming in. I went in looking for a bike pump, and after being ignored for 5 minutes they said they didn’t have any to sell, and offered me to use one of theirs. I thought that was kind, but instead of letting me pump my tires up, a worker tried to do it, and after many tries, only blew them up half way because he kept letting the air back out as he tried to take the pump off the valve. I thought that was strange, but just wanted to leave so I said thank you and was going to go to Canadian Tire instead, when the owner told me it would be $2 for that service. That was $2 for a guy who doesn’t know how to pump up tires to pump my tires up half way with a pump that was offered when I wanted to buy one instead of just use one. This place is run very poorly. Don’t waste your time.

Do NOT go there. Went to visit with my 67 yr old father to help buy him an e-scooter. All the scooters in there were quite dusty, so I simply asked if they were used. Instead of a simple "yes" or "no", I kid you not, I get a man screaming like a maniac as if I insulted him by even thinking that they were used, and I'm not exaggerating at all. I had never experienced such a thing at any retail store in my life. I asked to see the manager and then an old guy, seemingly tired of his life and very passive, only defended his employee's actions instead of apologizing for his behavior. Please do not go there only to get yelled at or get into a fight. This place does not deserve to be open and these guys have no business running any sort of retail or service shop.

I called to ask a simple question about repairing my disk brakes and whoever answered the phone was so rude to me, treating me as if I had done something to annoy them. I was being polite and respectful and got the most condescending response. Didn't even bother to go into the store. Definitely taking my business and my money elsewhere. If they treat you like that on the phone, how are they going to treat you in person, and how are they going to treat your bike? That one phone call as well as reading other reviews of this place is enough to show me that these people are rude and don't give a care about customer service or having decent relationships with clientele. Ridiculous. Don't go here.

September, 2023 - I brought my bike in to Bike and Forth to have my front tire repaired. It had a slow leak and would no longer hold air. I paid them $40(cash) and after about 15 minutes the tire was repaired/ready to go(or so I thought). Upon returning home with the bike, I found that the same front tire was airless. i.e., they had not repaired anything. A week later, I went to a reputable repair shop and for $36(tax included), the tire was like brand new. Obviously, Bike and Forth doesn't care about their reputation, the quality of their work or their clients. Fortunately, I've found a reputable bike shop and I have no need to return this third rate scammer.

In one word this guys are just robber. Very rude & aggressive. I just went to pump my cycle & they asked for $5 each tyre. I said I will give $5 for both tyre then they agreed but they said I’ve to pump by myself. I started to pump then one guy came & took pumper from my hand & started pumping saying that I’m not doing right. Then they charged $10 for not even 1 minute work. The way they talk seems like they are gangsters & gonna beat you up in there. I’m not a tough person to argue with them. I’m a student & my heart was just broken. I didn’t expect this kind of behaviour & robbery in Canada.

  • J Spencer

After meeting the manager named John I felt as if I would get a great job on my e bike but when it was returned he stoled our tires, broke our mirror, broke the customized stereo, and charged us 140 for a supposedly broken throttle. All that was asked was for him to replace dead batteries. I am truly upset this was my mother's bike that we worked hard for do not trust this store if you have a kind heart he shows inappropriate behavior yelling at his customers in front of their residence late a night. He is inconsiderate and unprofessional. Worst bike service ever.

  • 너구리

The employees are very unkind. I will never revisit. I will do so even if the robber threatens me. This store seems to be a rule to be nervous about customers. I will spend two hours to go to a farther repair shop. Unfortunately, there is a good repair shop nearby. Of course, I'm lucky from my point of view. It's a waste of a single star. Lazy Google needs to add a zero-point score system. for this place. If you are planning to visit this store, please have a threatening item. Dont forget, Manners arise from fear

  • Omar Sai

Absolute madhouse. I walked in for a tool after calling in to see if they had it and when the person at the front misunderstood (which is fine, mistakes happen.) one of the mechanics began screaming at her. Additionally the same mechanic was incredibly rude when I pointed out that a price he had quoted me over the phone was lower than the actual item in person, saying "So I told you 20 instead of 25, so f___ing what?" To top it all off, only 2 of the staff were wearing masks. Avoid this place like the plague.

  • Josh Fogel

It says two stars but I wanted to push one star, this is the worst bike shop I've ever been to and I've been riding a bike for 50 years! Number one, they can't fix the electric bikes that they sell, number two they're a huge rip off, Number three the owner is a racist, he said I could jew him down, Number four, the owner screams at the staff and swears in front of the customers, do not go to this bike store , it is horrible the owner is very mean and a terrible businessman ; this store should be closed!

  • Mohammad Ariful Hoque

I have never experienced such bad and unprofessional behavior in my life!! The owner should be ashamed to call himself "human". He charges insane amount for bike fix, yells to employees and customers like maniac and uses abusive language. He was not wearing mask in time of service. When he delivered my bike it was covered in grease! At one point I was really thinking about calling the police and show his shop's CCTV footage! AVOID by all means! :I

  • Scott Macdonald

after fighting with the company i purchased my scooter from for 2 months and still no pickup date avalible for them and a 3 to 4 week turn around time once they had the scooter i called theese guys. it cost me about 40 dollars more than it it would if i waited for the original company and they picked it up and delivered it back in the same day. great service learned more about my scooter in 15 talking to him then.

  • Vineet

One of the most rude customer service you’ll ever find. I was told that my bike would be repaired for $50 and so I paid it. They ended up calling me to add bogus charges for parts that were perfectly fine. I told them to leave the bike as it was and I’ll come get it and a refund, but they would only pay store credit. Stay away from this shop, they will rob you blind and be rude about it too.

  • Khar lo

Don’t even go to this place. Very rude people and aggressive. 1 star is even too high for them honestly. Make sure to not bring no kids around them too. This is the worse business place i have been in my life and i am not exaggerating. Price is very high on top of it also. The few 5 stars they got are just business helping each other, i took my time to check it and that’s a whole scam.

  • Cash Generator

Avoid this shop. I was made to wait half an hour for a part which in the end I was told they were out of. The staff are very polite and helpful but the owner curses and swears like a sailor while making you feel unwelcome. The owner "John" was rude and unhelpful and it was difficult to watch how he treated his wonderfully helpful staff. I would give zero stars but I dont see how.

  • Sandcat

I went to the shop with a few friends some time ago. Like many of the other reviews here, I too had the unfortunate displeasure of interacting with John. I try my best to support my local neighborhood businesses but it becomes disheartening when you come across rude individuals like John and see how they treat their customers. Total disappointment.

  • Gokul S

Absolute rip off. The guy quotes you something and the final bill to fix a bike will not be something close to the estimate. $80 to add two spokes to a wheel, $130 to add a new cable to the rear derailleur and adjust the brakes. Never believe his words. A lot of shady deals going on in this shop and I have witnessed it personally.

  • Caleb Cavell

Walked in and the owner and employees were screaming and swearing at each other. Than at customers. Then at me. Felt like I walked into a den of crooks. They tried charging an insane amount of money for the simplest repair and gave me a hard time when I tried to leave. Don't go here unless you want to be scammed and screamed at

  • shelterme w

I am very happy with the shop to help me out really well with my Daymark Rickshaw ebike works fine they did a really good job I’m happy with it and thank you so much. They came and picked up my ebike and delivered to me and they charge me exactly what I said I wanted to spend, there good. they are good shop you can trust them.

  • Jennifer Pearce

This is the absolute BEST PLACE to come to either buy an e bike or have yours repaired. The owner went out of his WAY (2 nights ago). When I had an appt with another place and the %%=#$% was closed... and he knew I had no charge but my man phoned Bike and Forth. DON'T GO ANYWHERE ELSE So not NOT WORTH IT. TEN STARS FOR

  • Winston Battle

I call to inquire about fixing my scooter or purchasing a new one. i asked if this was daymak he litterally said "yes what do you want" . i said "oh god no im not dealing with this" he said "good then dont call here" and hung up. well good. i wont have anything to do with this store ever. good riddance

$600 bill to fix light and battery.... both broke a week later.. no refunds sorry, did you give me old batteries? Did you poorly wire it? Who knows.. ‍♀️ Would try going down town to Emmo and get assisted with proper respect and given a legit receipt. This place is a complete SCAM!

  • Brian Hurshman

Complete rip off. Never again. My bike is in worse shape then it was. Try calling and all I get is I’m busy. $450 to fix ignition And a tow. And now broken fender. front of my bike tapped together. seat is half off. Burnt out head light. Do not go to this place

  • Antony bro

they are just terrible. they can't even center a wheel in the middle of the frame. did not true back wheel. did not repair brakes I had to re do every thing over myself.they are useless. cost me $113.00. they are asleep at the wheel as far as i am concerned.

  • Christopher Collins

Great service repairing My mobility scooter over night, even gave Me a loaner to use overnight - just had Me leave a $100.°° deposit that He put towards the repair. Easy peezy and got it fixed overnight!! Definitely going back for any further repairs.

  • ewoio

Very obvious that owner is not enjoying what he is doing. I visited them to tune up my bike, but he wasn't very helpful and didn't want to accept any customers. When he eventually made up his mind, he couldn't even fix the squeacking brake problem

  • tanya cook

The guy John ripped off my 9 year old son he was swearing and made him cry. We brought in his Scooter to be fixed and when we got it back it was still broke. He then gave a used one that fell apart within minutes and my son got hurt when we

  • Vijay

The guy badly needs a help, I don’t understand how he has been in business for so long. He is unprofessional, treats people very bad, very rude and has a terrible behaviour. Even one star is an overrate. God bless him with a humane attitude.

  • Marlo Hernaci

Bike and Forth is the single worst place to go for an eBike. Terrible customer service and though they'll charge you for it and tell you they've done it, they won't inspect their products to make sure that they're safe! I went in expecting

  • Richard Nolan

Very bad experience with this bicycle shop, tried to get my electric and bicycle repaired, he said they knew what they where doing, they couldn't fix anything correctly, i took it back to rectify the problem, they couldn't repair nothing

  • Caesar Adwan

Very bad experience DO NOT GO In general I had a very bad experience the employees were very rude and the manager is so cocky….. very high prices and my bike broke after one ride! THEY DON’T KNOW HOW TO FIX BIKES nor how to do business!!!

Very Friendly people. I was having bike trouble and stopped to see if they could help. They had me on my way in no time, and cost was very cheap considering. Would recommend.
