I waited about 2.5-3 hours to be seen by the nurse and was there for almost 5.5-6 hours total. When I finally got back to my room, the nurse took blood, which I was fine with, but I did not consent to an IV being placed. I asked her not to, and she did anyways. I then, waited and waited. I did not see the dr until my boyfriend and I asked multiple times for my IV to be pulled because it was getting very uncomfortable and starting to hurt. I had it in for hours. They made me give urine samples twice. After I did so, I asked for water because my mouth was arid. They refused until I asked a couple more times. I didn’t see the dr until my boyfriend asked multiple times and I asked once or twice to leave. He told me they wouldn’t discharge me until my ultrasound results came back. They were already on my patient chart online and I was told that they wouldn’t be back for 45 more minutes. I signed the consent form to be discharged against medical advice. When I went to read my results online, reading triage notes and MDM, they must’ve not been listening to what I had to say because they noted a few things that I had said completely wrong. Also, they misdiagnosed me with something that I don’t have and don’t even have the symptoms of. They couldn’t even begin to diagnose me with what they did because the samples never got sent to the lab. I’m from New York and I was concerned about something as I’m almost 17 weeks pregnant, and I should’ve waited until I got home to be seen because that emergency department is a joke.

Waiting in emergency room waiting room with my father who is having chest pains and atrial fibrillation for over 3 hours and hearing people saying they've been waiting for over 7 hours. I understand sometimes these places can be busy, but this is unacceptable. Online wait time says 4 minutes, that's a complete lie. Get it together baptist. *update* been here 6 hours now in the emergency room waiting room, still haven't got a bed. I've seen many people just leave because it is taking so long. One girl was brought in on a stretcher by jfrd, was placed in a wheelchair where she passed out. She woke up and walked out, with her vitals never even taken by hospital staff. The staff would call the same 6 or 7 names over and over again to make it appear as if they were actually taking people. No one would respond to the names being called, but they were the same names cycled every 2 hours or so. I feel awful for all the people waiting indefinitely in obvious pain believing their names would eventually be called to be taken back. I truly hope the directors at baptist see this and do something to fix this problem because what I saw happening should never happen to anyone. This is completely unacceptable!

While it seems strange to call an ER visit amazing, this one was. I took my son in for worsening symptoms of an illness he could not shake. All the urgent cares in the area were booked or closed. We are from out of state so we didn't know where to turn. Baptist was close to our hotel. We waited approximately an hour. He was seen by Dr. Wieczorek. She is one of the best doctors I have ever encountered. She was patient and thorough, kind, sat down with us and discussed everything that was happening and what we should expect. The nursing staff that attended him was also extremely kind and efficient. I have experienced the ERs in my home state and they could honestly go and learn from Baptist. The entire experience was as positive as it could be from check in to check out. Going to an out of state ER with a sick teenager is a fairly stressful situation and yet it was an amazing experience that left us feeling very positive about Jacksonville Baptist. Thank you.

Hate to have to leave this review but, Unless you are actually dying don’t go here. They make you wait indefinitely in hopes that you will leave. I watched people brought in by ambulance, moved to a wheel chair in the waiting room and left passed out for over an hour before someone even walked over to them. Another person was left the same way, woke up confused and then just left the ER. I waited over 6 hours with an elderly family member that had major heart issues at the same hospital just a few days earlier and was having chest pain and symptoms again and he was never seen. A few days before when he was actually taken back, the waiting room was complete full but there were empty rooms in the back. If you are dying they are great but anything else there is not really much compassion. Oh plus they are snotty if you are choose to be one of the unimportant patients who are waiting for hours.

I’m real disappointed in Baptist I’ve always loved Baptist until I got admitted for Postpartum anxiety & heart palpitations my heart rate went up to 140 for 3 minutes, it woke me up & I had to call the nurse . Nurses didnt even bother to come in to check on me until I called them , and they could see my heart rate . I asked for my heart medicine’ & they told me No they couldn’t give it to me, they Gave me medicine through an IV & I had allergic reaction to the IV medicine they Left the IV in my arm instead of taking it out , and putting a new one in. My arm got swollen The nurses kept giving me Xanax after I told them No I do not want a Xanax because I didn’t like how it made me feel & I felt doped up. But since I was doped up they took advantage, until my mother came DO better Baptist .. ER is great, but if you are admitted Good luck with great care .

3 hours in a almost empty waiting room waiting to be called. When already in the room , the first person they send is the registration lady for the insurance forms before even seeing a nurse or doctors. We ended up walking out. This was just today, a month ago I took my son with a bad blister in his toe that looked infected, after a 5 hr wait all that was done was touch it a bit and discharge us. Also noticed that the treatment you get is based on your insurance. You have to have higher class insurance to get better care . Last thing, no hopes in them filling out insurance paperwork needed for insurance claims. They give you a number of the physicians contracting company but they never answer the phone. You might as well go to Memorial Er by Atlantic and Kernan Blvd.

I was sent to the Emergency room from Urgent care with an abscess on tonsil and throat. The Emergency room wait was 3 hours. I was going to leave and go to UNF and Martha was not about to let me leave she said we don't play with throat and you will probably be kept today. I was not happy. She immediately got me a room and the ER team went to work. From the Nurses, Coral?and Nurses, Jackie and Danielle were amazing, missed some names of Nurses, Doctors were very nice and caring. Dr Radabagh? was great with my procedure, quick and mostly concerned about me. His nearly painless procedure and bedside manners are not to be taken lightly, he was wonderful. Thank you to everyone for my care, I am forever grateful that you are caring and unsung heros. Sharon Young

Was in wheelchair in waiting room in agonizing pain after a severe surgery to remove cancerous cells. I was given a hydrocodone after two hours when I started crying cause I was tired of being in pain, and then they said we will get you back soon, and then people who aren't in pain like me are being taken back. I have NEVER been to a Baptist I don't like but this one functions differently than any other baptist I've been too. After three hours waiting I AMA out because I'd rather be home and taking a sleep pill by that point because I should have been stabilized and given a three day script and sent on my way. By no means drug seeking. I'm a mom going through a lot with a boy about to turn 5. That was the worst baptist I've been to. Ever. Won't ever go back.

Still waiting to get in a room been here since 330 still waiting it is almost 630... It is a lady that was here before me and still waiting...I am still running and fever and blood pressure is uncontrolled might be COV19 positive and they have me around everybody in the waiting lobby ☹️ this is sad... can't social distance due to the volume of the waiting lobby already took medicine for my fever twice... (Update sadly I was COV19 positive.....I want to add the first shift staff was very friendly and apologized for the delays of night shift...I want to personally thank the day shift staff for speeding the process up... unfortunately night shift needs additional training in customer service and medical training as well)

This review is specific to the COVID visitation policy. I know it is necessary to limit visitors, but common sense and compassion would go a long way in your customer service. My husband had to bring my mom to the ER since I was at work. She was here so long, he needed to go home and sleep, so I came to switch out with him. Thankfully the person at the front desk understood and allowed us to switch. While I understand some families do want to all come and have visitors, some people need to switch due to work constraints. I do not find it to be good policy that if my husband had had to leave and they had not allowed me in that she would have had no patient advocate for almost 16 hours til the next "day" started.

I had to be taken to the emergency room due to some excruciating chest pain. I was checked in and taken to a room quickly. However the process of actually seeing a doctor took foreverrrr. I can in during the overnight shift but didn’t see a doctor until morning shift. I started to get impatient but it was mainly because I was in so much pain and felt like no one was paying me any attention. Though the process of seeing a doctor and getting multiple test ran took a long time the medical team found what was causing my pain which is more than I can say for the emergency center I visited 2 nights ago. The team was very apologetic about the wait. Overall I’m a satisfied patient.

  • The Glorious Raponator

Brought my mother in law I to the ER for chest pain; heart related while vomiting blood and blood in her stool. Been here for 5 hours so far and they tell us there is still 4 people in front of us. None of the chairs were being sanitized after the patients were taken back either. ER and the parking lot for the ER was filthy. No paper towels in the restroom, only air dryers. Proper hand washing procedure stipulates to use a paper towel to turn off the faucet after washing your hands so as to not contaminate your hands again after just washing them. I would hope the hospital would be aware of that. Update: 7 hours laters they finally took her back.

I came here today. I was immediately checked in and taken to a room. My visit was pretty urgent. The E.R. Nurse Dani.Y took good care of me. I was in a lot of pain and discomfort, she immediately did what she had to do to relieve some of the pain and discomfort. She was very pleasant with me the entire time I was there. She informed me of what tests were being ran and was very effective and efficient with her duties. This is one of the best hospital experiences I’ve had and I’ve been in and out of the hospital 3 times in the last month and a half. I really appreciate everything she did for me. Nice job Dani and thanks again!!!

Would have Gave it 5 stars because the nurses and doctors are Great ...But my father is in Baptist and I decided to go see him last night which was Friday 2/9/18 And I NEVER went to Baptist hospital at night but as I walked in and went through the emergency area to get on the elevators . The SECURITY GUARD stopped me and said I have to sign in before I go back so I said ok . But his attitude towards people was ridiculous If you do not like your job or career please leave and find something else because you do not talk to people any kind of way just because your a SECURITY GUARD . I never had this problem at ST VINCENTS ..

  • Johnny J. Ramos

I came in with an overdose and .because of St. Vincents Negligence I was also experiencing a stroke. My brother drove me to Baptist that team from soon as walk thru the door. Made me feel like like a person. After just being treated like trash at St.Vicents. If I would have waited at St Vincents. I would have died. Baptist made up for that follows protocol. I forgot y'all names i was scared of dying. You group of women from ER check I. To ER Team that worked on me around 10:00pm I am forever grateful. Y'all saved my life last night. May All Of You Be Blessed. ♥️♥️

  • Ashley

The lady that checked me in was very rude and nonchalant, I could tell she didn’t care. No sense of urgency from anyone. I was having heart attack symptoms and the first thing I’m told when I walk in is to go back out and get a mask… I had chest pain with labored breathing the last thing I’m worried about is a mask! Then a PATIENT that was waiting brought me a wheel chair! None of the staff at the check in counter even budged. They acted like they didn’t care at all! I will say once I was in the back everyone was nice and I felt a little better about being there.

This place killed my mother a woman with no medical issues!!!! due to they're incompetency' and poor bedside manner with no prior heart issues tried to make the family believe that her heart gave out but in reality the respirator that they put her on was at too high of a level that they blew her heart up knowing what they was doing and wanna label it covid.....Not to mention starved and neglected her losing a considerable amount of weight and stole her jewelry a 24k keepsake belonging too her father!!

  • Yee Thao

This place is terrible. It’s dirty, unkept, and wait times are outrageous. Waited over 7 hours, and still nothing. One of the nurses said that they were waiting on rooms, and when I looked in, there were two rooms open and a nurse skipping around. The cleaning lady came out several times and didn’t really clean. She swept up two pieces of trash, and then took the same dirty broom that she used on the floor and swept off the furniture. How can a hospital be proud of this poorly run ER?

  • Sher M

I have no words for the stupidity I witnessed here today by the staff in the ER. Just no words. Staff walking around like zombies. Why would.you take blood for no reason? A woman just came in having a baby and police officer had to help her?! Where are the nurses and doctors? Aren't they supposed to be coming out with a gurney or wheel chair getting her? I see why yall have security. Yall need more security if you going to treat people this way. This is not Healthcare!

  • Lynkoya Marcell

4hrs+ Still waiting to be seen. Multiple families gave up and left after waiting considerably longer. People after us were seen before us. No patient privacy, heard discussion that Medical staff not trained on high risk infants in pediatric er. Asked about wait time, so I could take my child somewhere else because it's an EMERGENCY, staff won't give me a straight answer. Was given a bag and told to let staff knows when and if my child starts bleeding again.

  • Logan Alvarado

It’s been 5.5 hours since I checked into the ER and 2 hours since I got x rays still just waiting in agony. I can’t believe a place so big with so much money and power over our city still can’t help us when we need it and are willing to pay good money. Is this still a first world country? I saw several people just leave after mentioning they’d been waiting 2-3 hours in the waiting room. Old alone people asking for blankets shaking and not getting them. Sad

  • Daylenie Jacques

This the far worst hospital. I feel like a cripple. I was at the hospital since 2:00 pm never been seen. The lady at the front desk said they was 6 people in front of me. She lied to me. There was at 25 people that I was there before them went in front of me. I was there so long I left. I'm going to another hospital tomorrow morning. Never again will ever step one foot in that hospital again

  • Hypo Crites

The charge nurse who "runs" this ER is horrible at the job. They're either severely understaffed for the location or incompetent at running an ER. 6+ hours waiting... but notice the theme in all the other reviews? Extremely long waits. Very nice people, but pointless if you die from a blood clot while waiting to see a doctor. I recommend driving an extra 20 miles to go somewhere competent.

  • Gator Davis

Worst waiting time I’m battling covid and frankly not doing so well and need immediate attention but I checked in at 9pm and still waiting it is 10:51 and counting I understand that there are other people waiting but when you have someone walk in with severe Covid symptoms you don’t put them in a waiting room for more two hours while they are battling to breathe it ridiculous!

  • Danielle Rhoden

Just thought you should take attention to the fact that I’ve been here with my daughter w abdominal pain and rectal bleeding for almost 5 hours now! One older gentleman said over an hour ago there were 2 people in front of him yet he still sitting waiting! Not ONE person in this second room waiting for emergency visit have been called??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Carlos Rodriguez

  • Pesha B

I went online to find an ER and the website said the wait was approx. 27 min. Took the ride to the ER very concerned about my health where I was told it is very likely more than a 5 hour wait! There are at least 40 people in the waiting room. I understand that I should wait for others, but 5 hours??? I needed care! I left.

  • Kevin Rymes

Went to the ER early on a Thursday morning and was seen almost immediately. Dr. Tanya Hunter performed exams on me and ordered a CT scan as well. The overall experience, level of care and friendliness of the staff and Dr. Hunter was awesome. She seems like an extremely talented and courteous physician. Great work!

  • Carol worthy

So I took my mom here to get fluid drained and we sat in the ER from 2:30 tell 10 pm it’s so many people sitting shoulders to shoulder and people with COVID-19 that come in and they put them right beside you most horrible hospital ever you can DIE in the ER and they would never know!!!!!!!

  • Angel Thomas

I checked in at 12:42am & the check in lady was very nice. The nurse seemed to be in a rush & wasn’t really focused but was never rude. So far it’s 1:28am & I still have not been seen. So, the wait is a bit too long but that’s it. Update: it’s now 3:17am & I have still not been back.

  • Palm Valley Home Inspections Management

My faith in humanity was restored today during a very traumatic visit to the ER today for my dad. The nurse Jennifer in the ER was my dads Saint today. Her attention to human care and needs went above and beyond. GOD BLESS the whole baptist ER team for all they did and do everyday.

  • Cecilia Shepard

I went in last night and saw Doctor Johnson Grace Ashley in a whole mess of other staff members and they were awesome I went and scared vomiting tightness in the chest and they assured me that they were going to help me in they did I couldn't ask for a better quality of staff

  • justin walker

My wife was in a bad car accident and we’ve been sitting in the waiting room for 6-7 hours. This is completely unacceptable. We’ve advised them several times that she is in severe pain and nothing has been done. You literally have to be about to die for them to care.

  • Kitty B

Sat waiting for 45 min after indicating my BP was 221/119. They took my vitals which are 227/160 and they sent me back to the waiting room for going on 30 more min with no meds or care. I should have just called 911.

  • Emilio Valle

really this is not an emergency hospital for a long time they make you wait in a room, the doctor arrives after 5 hours of waiting and only recommends tylenol for the children and they don't even check them well

  • MARY “Louise” WHEELER

I waited in emergency room. I was there about 5 to 6 hours. Got my prescriptions and they arranged for a taxi to take me home. Thank you, Mary Louise Wheeler 5-24-2022

10+ hours in waiting room to be seen for a cancer patient in severe pain. At what point do they remove the word “emergency” and just call it a room?

  • Averill Green

Horrible Experience!! Waiting Room doctors are in a rush to discharge do not fully talk to you or exam you. Baptist Downtown is horrible!!
