Came across this dope bar one late night in New Orleans and it did not disappoint. Very chill and low key with great drinks. Here are my takeaways: Environment Located right on the outskirts of the quarters, very low key and intimate. At night it's very chill and dim with good energy and a relaxed ambiance. It has a divy vibe - right when you walk in you'll see plenty of bar seating with with a few tables around the space. They also have pretty decent amount of outside seating right on the sidewalk. This seems like a place that you can easily become a regular at. Service The service was great. They had one bartender managing the full bar and she was doing a great job getting drinks out in a timely fashion. It was easy to order and get what you need. Drinks The cocktails were great and strong! For the quality and the price you can't beat it (especially compared to what I'm used to here in DC). This will definitely be a place I stop by next time I'm in New Orleans. Overall Great bar, great service and most importantly great quality drinks. Please stop by here as soon as you can. It will be a go to when I'm in the city.

Ramos Gin Fizz I'm from out of town and was looking for that staple drink that I would remember for the rest of my life.. this place was it and just my second day of being here I found the most labor intensive, most satisfying to drink, delightful drink that I've ever had! This is not something that I will get every day but it was made with the lots of love and care. This is like a local bar and less of a tourist bar but the red carpet is rolled out. The bartender is very knowledgeable and he didn't act like he was fake. He was very knowledgeable in making drinks he was an artist & cultivist of his craft. He engaged and very comfortable conversation and had a genuine aura about him! I'm down here for a few more days and I will definitely go back. You might want to eat before you get here but if you're coming for drinks damn it, you will get some damn great drinks and they will not be made haphazardly

Absolutely great experience! While on vacation, I found myself going there 4 times. I am not good with names, but the black bartender, the white girl bartender with awesome tattoos, and the manger crushed it. They made high quality and great tasting cocktails. They were fun to watch and made great conversation. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because of one of my encounters with a bartender on my last visit. He was not as good as them and when my friend said her drink did not look like it should, he asked have you had one before from Bar Tonic. We said yea, and he said well then its the same. We tried the drink and it was awful and did not taste like what we had during our last 3 visits. He was not very helpful and did not seem to care or take criticism well. Overall it is a great little bar, with chill vibes. I highly recommend.

This place I really liked, drinks were delicious and well made. Definitely a cozy place, only seats about 2 dozen peeps, but it was pleasant and not overly crowded to enjoy a few cocktails. My only complaint…. They under pure their cocktails big time. I had 5 cocktails back to back in just over an hour and I was barely drunk, I should’ve been so “stinken drunk” and stumbling home… before you ask NO, I’m not a big drinker… the drinks they make are tasty, but I bet you find yourself asking the bartender to make yours a double, because they pull their punches making those cocktails that’s a fact.

Bar Tonique is an absolute gem in New Orleans! Bud, the talented bartender, made my visit exceptional. His impressive mixology skills, warm personality, and attention to detail created a memorable experience. The bar's cozy vintage decor and extensive drink selection added to the fantastic atmosphere. The entire staff provided top-notch service, making me feel like a valued guest and made it easy to converse with the other patrons inside. Don't miss out on Bar Tonique - it's a must-visit spot! Cheers to Bud for an unforgettable evening!

Two roads diverged in a New Orleans street, And I took the one that led me to Bar Tonique. The cocktails there; are like no other, A sip of their drinks, and you'll be a lover. The ambiance is cozy, the people are kind, You'll forget your worries, clear your mind. Their bartenders are artists, mixing up a storm, Their drinks will keep you cozy, like a fire, warm. So if you find yourself in New Orleans town, Follow the road to Bar Tonique, where the drinks abound. You won't regret taking the road less traveled, For the experience there is truly unraveled.

What a lovely bar! This is truth in advertising; this actually was a "friendly, unpretentious, neighborhood bar," as the website says. The drinks were amazing! I sampled several and they were all carefully crafted. I have to say that I was at a minimum sold on their progressive values and longstanding clout as one of the first craft cocktail bars in the city. (If not the first...) We rolled in on a Sunday afternoon during the pandemic and stayed longer than planned; they are following the rules carefully and we felt totally safe, even inside the bar.

A moment of silence, gotta start with a shout out to our guy Charlie (all the best man!). Now back to this bar(craft drink spot), hands down one of the best bars I've been to in the US. Great drinks, large variety of options and each carefully crafted to order. The prices are unbelievable for the quality of the drinks you get along with the chill environment and awesome bartenders. It was so good we had to go back the next day. If you love craft drinks or just great drinks and a great bar you can't leave New Orleans without checking this place out.

This bar is incredible! I love that everything is made in house. Every drink that we tried was well-made, and very reasonably priced. I also like that the interior is relatively small- it makes the drinking experience feel much more intentional and intimate. Easier to meet new people that way! In my opinion, their Gin Fizz cannot be beat. But if you order it PLEASE be nice to your bartender and tip well. My husband and I were in New Orleans for 5 days and came to this bar for 3 of them. If we are ever back in the city, you know where we'll be.

  • Stu Brommey

This is the real deal. It’s accessible from the French Quarter but far enough from the Bourbon Street tourist traps. The guy is a real pro. They make everything here properly from scratch. The prices are very fair. If you want proper cocktails made skilfully (with no shortcuts) in a relaxed environment, this is absolutely the place. It is without doubt the best cocktail bar I have ever been to. Get in soon after opening for a Ramos Gin Fizz made to absolute perfection before others pile in!

A great place to go for happy hour (2-5pm) and rotating $6 daily drink specials. The place is quite small, which lends itself to people talking and getting to know one another. The drinks were great and were actually one of the best values we experienced on our trip. The bartenders were cool as well. Much more low key (and fun) than Bourbon Street. Their list of different alcohols is nothing to scoff at! Worth a visit.

Best dive bar in the city, and maybe the best one in the country! This place feels like where a bar tender would go to unwind. The drinks are as smooth as any you'd find in an elegant cocktail bar. The prices are also unbeatable, and I do mean that literally. You won't find a classic cocktail for $6-$8 and you certainly can't beat their happy hour. Bar Tonique is really among the best bars I've ever experienced.

It was our first time (from Orlando) in New Orleans and we decided to stop at this bar because of a Google search. Our bartender Larry was phenomenal! Great drinks and great atmosphere—Larry is a fantastic bartender and I highly recommend this bar if you visit NOLA—they make you feel like home, but with a New Orleans flair

Really wanted to like this bar but unfortunately the bartender didn't know anything about the liquor they had on offer and when he asked the other bartender only relayed a tenth of the info to me. The atmosphere might have earned it 3 stars except the bathroom was disgusting. I know it's hard in a busy bar to keep up but when I see there it wasn't busy and it seemed to have been like that for a while.

  • Shontell Forrest

I didn't take pictures of all the cocktails that we had because there were too many (happy hour ), but I LOVED them all. Every single drink that I tasted was amazing. The bartender was super friendly and very knowledgeable. Also, his music taste was awesome! I had my Shazam app open the whole time. I can't wait to go back. Neat experience.

If I had this bar in my neighborhood, I would spend every day here. Bar Tonique has the best quality cocktails for the best price in the entire city. Period. You will not find a better drink for a better value. The staff knows how to handle the unusual aspects of being a quarter bar, and this place isn’t overrun by out of touch tourists.

We sat in this bar for almost the entire 12-5 happy hour. Our bartender was Manny and he was awesome. Made great recommendations and made us feel like regulars far from home. Next time we are down this way, we will be back! Not sure about later in the day but mid afternoon this was a darker, calmer place to relax and enjoy ourselves. Drinks are cheap and strong.

  • Kareem Alston

I'm a fan of a good happy hour and this one was worth it. The cocktails felt artisanal but the bar still had a dark/dive vibe, which is exactly what we were looking for. All that taken into account, the quality of drinks was very impressive and service was great. I will definitely visit this spot next time I'm in New Orleans!

This is a bar for “professional drinkers” meaning people who know their cocktails and the ingredients. While this is not exactly a dive bar, it has a laid back atmosphere. However, the bartenders know what they are doing and that makes for a very pleasant experience. While you can find Sazeracs in many NOLA bars I thought mine here was one of the better.

  • FHM lenubienne

I don’t want to talk too loudly about how much I love this place, or it will get overrun, and I won’t be able to order a drink. Hands down one of my favorite (proper) cocktail bars on this side of the city. Great location, awesome staff, open every day at noon, and they have daily specials. That’s it, that’s all I’m going to say. Be there, or be square.

This place is amazing! They have drink specials everyday which change and they have the most extensive drinks menu I've seen in a long time! They don't serve any food so you just want to show up to get some drinks but obviously cuz it's New Orleans you can get them to go! We had absolutely delicious cocktails I can't wait to go back!

Went on a lark from a locals suggestion, so glad we did. It was midday on a Sunday and it wasn’t crowded. Nice calm atmosphere. My wife started with a Corpse Reviver and I had a Sazarac , both were excellent! We wrapped up with two Gin Fizz’s that were very well prepared. 10/10 recommend :)

Introduced to this bar at the end of a tour and so glad we stopped in. Great, dim vibes and the bartender was super chill. I enjoyed the pineapple rum and the Dark & Stormy. They also have daily drink specials and Thursday was the Paloma which my husband tried and really enjoyed. Highly recommend this bar!

  • Mike Soleno

Seriously good cocktails, seriously good prices. Literally half the price you’ll pay elsewhere in the quarter. We waited until it was slow to order the Ramos Gin Fizz and it was worth the wait! Every other drink we have ordered here has been fantastic. Friendly bartenders every time as well

I was excited to try this bar but it was a huge disappointment. The bartender was unpleasant and acted like it was an inconvenience to her if you tried to order a drink. Not worth a cheap cocktail to be treated rudely.
