Past attendee. The Apostle John, as a faithful shepherd of God's people, was so serious about protecting the sheep that he wrote in 2 John 9-11, “Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, DO NOT receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting, for the one who gives him a greeting participates in his evil deeds.” The bible teaches clearly 'you become what you accept' when it comes to false doctrine and teachers. What are the differences between false doctrine and doctrinal differences? The HOUSE FOUNDATION principle is the standard. Two people can build identical houses. Or so it seems. One on true, solid, deep foundations. The other on mis-squared, sandy, uneven footings. At the outcome many beliefs may have very similar looking beliefs or styles, like two similar houses. However, when the important doctrines, or foundational beliefs, aka, the house foundation (such as salvation, scripture, anthropology, godhead, etc...) are flawed the house will become unstable, shakey, and then begin to tumble, crumble and ultimately be destroyed. Including its residents. Suddenly, and to their surprise. Yahweh, does not want any to be destroyed by the subtle lies of the enemy. So the way we discern the difference between FALSE doctrine and DIFFERENT doctrine is by scrutinising the foundations or footings of the teacher. In light of this, this is how false teachers, ministers and leaders wiggle their way into our congregations, boards, elderships and into our lives. THEY ALWAYS POINT TO THE HOUSE. They avoid discussing the footings. They sell you the good looking style and design of "the house". And if you're not discerning you will be buying into a lemon of eternal consequence. Your life will fall into ruin. Your faith crushed. Your life taken from you. Your family divided. Your church divided and possibly even destroyed. Literally. I'll say this again. False teachers always point to the HOUSE and avoid discussing the FOOTINGS. They also love to shame "the house" of others and not be sincere about their foundation. So discern the foundations of every speaker, pastor and teacher that you listen too. No matter who they are, or where they come from, how popular or friendly they are, or how intellectual they sound. Remember, they don't want you to focus on their footings. Ask wise questions that reveal their foundational theology? As the Apostle John commands, once you discover it and it doesn't align with the teaching of Christ - good foundational doctrine - have NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM. Leave their church. Cut off your friendship. Stop listening to them. No matter how popular they are! Here is a list of telltale signs of poor theological foundations: - any questioning or undermining of the authority of scripture - any questioning of the vivid reality of sin and core human brokenness - any level of self-righteous status or godly adoration - any thought that we can trust our hearts or hold to our inner knowing - any questioning of the total lordship of Jesus Christ in our lives - any intentional or unintentional spiritual dependency towards man's authority in our life - any sense of 'earning' grace or mercy, e.g. give money-get healing, satisfying man's spiritual legalism - it can even be as subtle as serving the leaders vision, or the mission of "the church" (the house) over Christ's purpose and heart for your life Ask the Holy Spirit for discernment and he will give it to you. Be aware that in these days there will be MANY false teachers teaching you what your ears want to hear. However, we don't belong to THEIR house, we belong to Jesus Christ. The one who was faithful over his father's HOUSE (Heb 3:6). Let's not discard our confidence but build our life (house) upon Jesus, alone.

Love my Bayside Church fam. I have loved being part of Bayside for over 4 years now.. I love the leadership of the church from Ps Christie and Ps Rob and the rest of the staff + connect leaders. I love that Bayside reflects a Jesus to the world that courageously loves, and love that Bayside seeks to be a people who follow in His footsteps. A bunch of people who are authentic, and okay with being amateurs at love and grace but who seek to live that way always. Come check us out!

I was part of this congregation many years ago, very cliquey our small group ostracised and judged my mum the girls excluded me occasionally. Rob is very divisive on medical choice and has a vendetta to demonise people who didn’t want the jab for real health concerns that are personal. It is very much about status within the Church rather than real open connections with Jesus, real relationships and growth within the congregation and inspiring change in the hearts of others.

Disappointing. I had emailed the church 3 times but no one had replied. I had not been to church for a long time and most of the pentecostal type churches in Melbourne are mostly international students. I was in a very tough place and was really struggling, especially after covid, and wanted to talk to someone and give church a go again. I ended up going again anyway and no one greeted me or said a word, and i'm a very normal person. Won't be going again.

My wife, family and I have been going to this church for almost 11 years now. It has been an incredible journey of faith, connection, and experience of Jesus and God's love. This church is such a community driven church, expanding on the Word and sharing in God's love for all. There are so many community programs to be involved in, notwithstanding a vast array of 'Connect' groups.

The Senior Pastor Ps Rob Buckingham is one of these Pastors that have this glow about him as if he was actually an angel from heaven. There isn't much this amazing man doesn't know about the word of God. It's a real pleasure to be apart of Bayside Church and I will remain there until the Good Lord Jesus calls me home. …

Not a Christian. They are making their own gospel truth. Who do they think they are. Gods authority is non existent and his Word no longer followed. A sign of the end....the wolf in sheep's clothing. Please don't buy into Rob's version. Read Jesus's and Gods word...all of.

I grew up in Bayside Church and it has been such a blessing to see this church love on its congregation. I love Bayside. I love the strong emphasis on safety in the sense of inclusion and acceptance. I am so excited for the future of Bayside Church Melbourne!

Bayside Church is a fantastic place to grow in your relationship with God. They have a great focus on discipleship and have many opportunities for going deeper in faith. The pastors really have a heart for people and everyone is welcome!

I attended this church for 3 years before God woke me up and I realised I was in a greedy, self promoting, non- biblical apostate "church". All I can say is READ YOUR BIBLES for yourself and RUN FROM THIS PLACE!

  • Emma Byles

great church! Ps Rob and Christie Buckingham's heart for God and love for people shine. The church serves the community locally and other mission work abroad. friendly, family orientated, welcoming.

Brilliant church. It is modern, welcoming and inclusive. Larger than other churches but there’s plenty of smaller events to get to know people in a similar life stage as you
