A month ago I requested an updated rates notice as I’m refinancing my home (I hadn’t paid my previous rates on time so it displayed arrears, completely my fault that’s fine). However I replied to the email they sent with the original notice, explaining what I needed & never received it nor a response at all. I called the following week to be told a ‘reprint’ of notices would be done in 2 weeks then sent the following. Called 2 weeks later to check ‘oh no it’ll be done next week now’. I asked if there was anything they could do themself as I assumed it was quite an easy fix to just reissue the notice. Was told no. Called the next week, again told nothing they could do & there will be another delay. Explained I know it’s my fault I didn’t pay but this is the only thing my bank is waiting for & any help would be appreciated. Again nothing. Called again & finally a lady told me she could do it for me & send it by that afternoon (unfortunately didn’t happen). Called the next day & Tanya said it had already been reissued on the 25/11 & she would send a copy. Very frustrating knowing I’ve called several times for something that was already done a month ago but every person I spoke to didn’t care enough to even check. & if I hadn’t have kept calling would’ve been into the new year until I received, if at all.

Be fined for 185 dollars by parking for 10 mins on Major street, Highett, for a home inspection. Since the street was parked full of cars so did not noticed there were forbidden signs. But now I recall that the chatting guys on the street were plainclothes officers, and they deliberately show no remind, just waiting the chance to adding the notice when I walked away. I admit that I was wrong to parking on the street. But in my opinion, the purpose of fines is to remind people to beware of their parking behavior, but not to earn money, right? So in this situation, the officer saw the car owner parking in the wrong place, is it to remind owner first would be more appropriate? If the offciers were trained to treat people like these doggy behavior, all the actions they do just to scratch money from other people's careless, unintentional behavior, then I think it would be good not to live in the areas where managed by the Bayside council.

This council is disgusting. We were tech disadvantaged trying to use app for parking. Unsure how to pay for all day parking . We made sure we paid $20.57 plus ccard costs for parking which is the cost for all day parking and we were fined. We requested 2 reviews for our fine of $92 with both rejected. Only option is to go to court which costs considerably and is a waste of the courts time. THE council know this!!! It’s a shame we didn’t take photos of the poor condition the car park at Hampton Foreshore is in, with large potholes and a dangerous entrance and the potential damage it could have caused our vehicle. What a disgusting revenue making decision when no consideration is given to the honest person who made an honest error. I can only assume that the staff member making this decision simply does not care!

Unfortunately had a car breakdown at Highett shops, called to put on record that the car would have to be left until the mechanical error is fixed (undriveable). The car is parked in a 1hr parking zone. The lady who answered was extremely unhelpful, and basically didn’t want to know about it or put anything on record, and said that instead of being able to prevent us being fined, we would have to appeal if we were fined with our own evidence. Begs the question if we have to appeal will the evidence we supply will it be enough to overturn? What could be a 5 minute solution by recording our details and the situation may turn into stressful and unnecessary work. Once again Bayside Council showing that money making is more important than helping the people they are employed to serve.

I requested an EFT Refund for my dog whom has passed on the 5th July, 2019. Told I can only receive half the full amount back and sent a form which I completed. I don't agree with the refund offered when my dog was only registered for 83 days. The refund should be for the remainder 282 days. Still have not received the refund after making contact via email to Tracey the Animal Reg Officer. It can deposited directly into ones account. Think they need to go back to issuing cheques and not treat people as if they are a business. Told there is a 3 week backlog after waiting 2 weeks which was the original excuse. Not good enough. A refund is a refund. Just do it when you get it instead of sitting on it and possibly losing the information. Next step is the Victorian Ombudsman.

It was the worst experience that I have been to this bayside council. I studied for a year without any income, I tried to spend time with my little kids on the beach even if I am still doing homework. We parked the car about 4 - 5 meter away from the intersection in a small road with no sign saying anything and also saw other cars were parked there. But 3 hours after coming back from the beach we saw the fine ticket $165 saying we should stop 10 meters away from the intersection. I tried to write a letter to explain the reason, the council did not consider at all even it was the first time for us and they did say clearly on the road sign, no sign at all. Very tricky and just want money. very disappointed and wont be there any more. NO HUMANISM!!!

Parking fine at Half Moon Bay, totally my fault, didn’t pay the ticket (not complaining about that). I decided to treat my family late on a Friday to the beach for a 30min stroll before getting pizza after being couped up at home for months on end due to Covid. I didn’t pay the ticket because the car park was half empty and it is the middle of winter. Received a ticket in 10min. Again, it was my fault and I should have paid, but it did ruin the day for my family, and it seems unnecessary to ping people so quickly in the off-season? It’s almost like they are sitting there waiting for cars to arrive, and wait for them to walk away before issuing tickets. Absolute vultures.

  • A R

Absolutely terrible . New bin contractor and they never collect bins. Always whinging about something. One week there was 4 or 5 left in my street. Apparently now the new contractor won’t take the bins of the wind flings the lid up.. smart . So the rubbish flys everywhere . Also won’t collect if there’s a car in the area of the bin, if there’s something pushed down in there so the lid isn’t raised etc… wonder how much it’s costing the council for all the missed bin collections . Apparently a plastic bag with dog poo on top is also a reason to not collect the bin either .. plastic bag can go in recycling apparently .

  • Sam Keir

Put in online request for public tree prune. Nick from Citywide here this afternoon. Explained what could be and could not be done and why, in terms understood by this layperson. Very informative, helpful and friendly. 14.2 neighbour had hard rubbish to be collected, that since put out, had turned into very large pile. Approx. 10am saw 2 guys collecting the hard rubbish asked if they would be able to take small lounge someone had dumped and they said yes. Fantastic! Wanted to thank them with a six pack but by time I'd got it and raced back out front they'd gone. So thank you guys, great job!

Predatory parking inspectors and unreasonable council response. Literally had just parked at Sandringham beach car park, and very little signage in regards to ticket requirements. Could not clearly locate ticket machines and just walk for minute to toilet. By the time I had reached the ticket machine we were already served a ticket. Officer knew they had done wrong but said they couldn't withdraw it and told us to appeal to council. Council rejected the appeal! $96 for taking just a few minutes to buy a parking ticket, ridiculous! Worst council living with fine money.

  • Matthew M

Predatory parking inspectors and unreasonable council response. Literally had just parked at Sandringham beach car park, and very little signage in regards to ticket requirements. Could not clearly locate ticket machines and as a single parent needed time to organize my son for a few minutes. By the time I had reached the ticket machine we were already served a ticket. Officer knew they had done wrong but said they couldn't withdraw it and told us to appeal to council. Council rejected the appeal! $92 for taking just a few minutes to buy a parking ticket, ridiculous!

  • Avrora Star

I have no words to describe my frastration and disappointment. I came to the beach with my husband and son. We paid $15 for the parking, displayed the parking ticket on the board as usual. Returned back earlier than needed to find a fine ticket. Submitted a case to the council with the photo of my ticket and explanation to get the unfair fine waved and today got a letter advising that it is my responsibility to display ticket so the officer can see? Maybe the officer should wear glasses to see it? Terrible. Absolutely terrible.

Parked on Rouen st- near Haileybury Brighton school time during school holidays (school dismissed on 09/12/2022) Fines issued on 16/12/2022 at 3.50pm for 4 Hampton street traders cars. Review was unsuccessful. They are going by the gazetted school days- school days for private and public is different, school next to the street is on holiday. Frankston primary may be on a school day, but Haileybury dismissed week ago. Pathetic Bayside Council just want $$$$, nothing else. You guy are robots, need a little bit of common sense.

  • Matt Pine

Bayside Council: for the developers! Their own town planners agree with the developer’s offset from the boundary against the Councils own guidelines! Don’t expect to have privacy to be considered: nine apartments have direct view into all living areas, two bedrooms, three bathrooms and my “private” backyard space....all ok with Bayside not an objection to VCAT. And the final straw my home gets its street number taken away and given to the development! Thanks Bayside for caring for your existing rate payers! Sterling job!

  • Ashok Hebbar

I parked in one of the council's paid parking areas where 2 parking machines on the stretch weren't working so I couldn't pay the for parking. However, council issues me a parking infringement without bothering to check their machines. When I submitted a review , with pictures, citing the non-working parking machines, I got a rude reply saying I should have gone around to see if anymore parking machines are working or should have downloaded an app to pay. Really ? No responsibility for non-working parking machines ?

  • Stan Thomson

Council's nature strip tree has caused my front brick fence to crack. Council acknowledged its trees were responsible for the damage and on 2 separate occasions dug up the footpath and removed some roots. Repairs to the fence were refused. It seems that Council is not responsible for damage to private property caused by trees it plants. Councillors were no help in resolving the issue and are a complete waste of time and ratepayers' money - get rid of them and bring back Commissioners!

  • Reformed Hampton

Horrible, horrible, horrible. Sending infringements notices out again 3months after you have paid them. Unable to process planning applications within forecasted time frames. Terrible customer service, in fact, in any other industry/organisation they would be bankrupt. All and all a cash grabbing, time wasting, poorly run organisation that does not create a service for members of the community but rather hinders their day to day dealings. Good luck if you have to deal with them!

  • T R

Crossover for new builds Council charged me well over $1000 for removing a 80cm high 'tree'... which i could have done with my two bare hands. this was for a crossover and the council would not approve it unless i paid the money (legalised ransome). They then proceeded to demand an extra $800 to plant 2 new trees which would actually be worth $150 each (which has not been done in over a year). Pathetic cash grab. Please contact me if anyone else has experienced the same issues.

  • Michael Duggan

I have had great experiences. I won't name names for privacy reasons but the folks in building have been really really helpful, great to talk to and I being new to dispensations etc I was very very impressed with them. Also when it came to changing addresses, ordering new bins etc all went so smoothly. And the folks who deal with trees too..thanks. PS also thanks to the asset protection team who were great. OK, wont say I am overly impressed by the parking fines team mind...

  • Paulies Rendering

  • Andrew Robertson

Sent in some feedback about the damaged footpaths on Carpenter St in Brighton in early December and nothing has been done. Really dangerous tripping hazards along Carpenter St between Black St & Wilson St where the trees have cracked & up rooted the footpath. Council don’t seem to care about this issue. It’s just a matter of time before someone trips over and gets a serious injury. Absolutely disgusting that nothing has been done.

  • Craig

There's a reason why they average a 2 star rating, because people here are just too nice. Heaven forbid the council recognised the people who pay their salaries as customers. I suspect the reason why people below the Major feel free not to return calls or written complaints in a timely (hang on, or just don't) fashion is because, from my experience, he, or even a member of his office, doesn't bother. Just appalling customer service

  • Paul Rayne

Removing the gates from off leash dog parks/ovals is a disgrace! I have already heard of dogs getting run over by cars. Not enough community consultation regarding this matter and no statistics shared as to how this will help. We pay high rates in Bayside and putting our pets at risk is completely unfair. You will not get my vote next election and there is a large ground swell amongst dog owners who will also be voting elsewhere.

  • Harry Dam

Griffin Street has been closed off all day from South Road to Chapman Street due to works by NBN. Residents were not advised, Council knows nothing about what is happening and the NBN shrugs it all off by implying it's the councils problem. This is such bad behaviour by all parties involved. How can citizens have confidence in their local government when said government doesn't know what is happening right under their own noses.

  • Theodore Kondelos

If I could give a minus rating I would. Their public works are a shambles in coordination and oversight. I've had water stolen from my property for council works and building materials dumped on same property, without permission, by council contaractors. No permission obtained or apologies provided. One set of rules for council works, different set of rules for everyone else. Does anyone hold these people accountable?

  • allpress inc

Although extremely disappointed by the Bayside Councils reckless decision re destroying Elsternwick Parks open space by placing sports fields. I just had a very positive chat with Cat-Cath? Re a hard rubbish collection. She was very pleasant and helpful. Personally, I’ll be voting against all council members that voted for the destruction of Elsternwick Park. I do know that Counciler Long was one of the good guys...

  • Josie Oddo

I went to use the public toilets. I have never seen anything so disgusting in all my life I actually vomited you charge $5 an hour in parking and you cannot have anyone cleaning those toilets I understand that some people have no regards for others and that is why there should be someone hired to constantly keep the toilets clean After all it's meant to be THE BEST PLACE TO VISIT, BUT don't use the toilets.

  • Jose Alonso

They want commuters to used public transport and there is not enough space to park the cars in the train stations and in the the 4 hours park zone the put you a fine as soon as the time is gone! For a council they must be very rich with all the fines they put for overstay parking even in areas where there is not even much cars. Ripoff Council I would call it.

  • Adam Boersch

Poor customer service, very rude correspondence in the parking fine dispute process I went through. I had a legit factors including very poor signage from the council in the "Brighton beach box" car park, but alas, complete robots talking on the other end. Just beware of the poor signage everyone, it's specifically designed to be ambiguous to raise revenue.

  • Malcolm Allen

I totally agree with the earlier review by Trent and have been a victim of an unwarranted and unfair parking infringement recently. I even tried writing to the Mayor and our local MP to try and prosecute my case. The Mayor passed it on internally as he cannot interfere with staff matters (conveniently) and I have not heard a thing from our local MP.

  • alan hayes

Just discovered I have been charged for parking when we didn't even park our car. We tried to pay the extortionate fee of $18 and the machine stated our card was declined and no ticket was issued. We then went to St Kilda paying a full days parking for $13 . The card was accepted and a ticket printed. Trying now to contact the office!

  • Ecks

Disgusting council. Worst in Melbourne. Loves to fine you for absolutely anything you possibly can but somehow with all the money they earn from you they neglect maintenance in our beautiful area (most expensive subburb in Melbourne) with overflowing public bins, rubbish is always thrown everywhere and disgusting public facilities.

  • LORRAINE NOEL

I'm over 70 and love swimming at Sandringham beach. We are encouraged to keep exercising but this lovely beach has NO changing rooms and only ONE toilet. I get there on public transport and have to get dressed in the one cubicle while others queue up outside - absolutely disgusting compared with Sydney beach facilities.

  • Hamptonite Bayside Melbourne

Having to deal with Bayside Council’s Environmental Health Unit, in particular Christian, was not only a stressful experience but one that gave myself and family genuine and very real concerns about how badly this local council is managed. Bayside deserves better than what is being delivered by their Council.

  • Amelia Lewis

Can the councillors please spend our rates money on hiring someone to mow the centre median strips along Nepean Hwy they are all overgrown. It looks dreadful the weeds and the dead grass are about a foot high..it looks bloody awful we should be proud of our bayside surroundings and that is letting us down.

  • Reg B

strange Council. Hot on fines yet dont bother chasing up A-frame signage clutter being left by realestate agents or obikes and shopping trolly's being left in streets. Why do they fine people for an old beach parking permit displayed on car window yet in this day and age registrations dont have a sticker.

  • Margaret Murphy

I live in Bayside and I have to say this Council is absolutely useless. We have waited 2 years for a tree to be planted on the nature strip, as the other one died. Service is appauling in general. Bayside (owing to the Council's lack of care and doing it's job), has deteriorated beyond belief!!!

  • Daisy Verde

Absolutely useless. Councillors are either too young to understand local issues and are smart arses. I complained about needing more toilets at Elsternwick park. They put two toilets replacing the one. Really inadequate considering all the sports played in park. People still piss in the bushes.

  • s G

disgusting way of processing fine and the review. The new parking in North Point Brighton has a disgusting signs system. You are tricking citizens with your disgusting way of planning the parking. Good way for taking the money from the citizens. you should be ashamed of yourself.

  • Ian Davidson

I called about an animal that was meant to go to the council and I couldn't have spoken to a less caring person. Almost rude and very abrupt. Unfortunately I had to leave at least one star although that person didn't deserve it. Thank goodness I don't live in their area.

  • Jordan M

Biggest bunch of crooks running this council, issued a parking infringement for a vehicle that was parked under the allowed time limit and wouldn't withdraw the fine even when evidence was proved that the vehicle hadn't been there the entire time

  • Siad 747

In my opinion, they are doing their best with what they have.. I think they are doing a great job considering governments can't please everyone.. I wish Councillor Clarke Martin all the best with the electoral district of Sandringham election

  • Christi Hazel

Pathetic and unprofessional behavior. We have been calling for a week to book a hall for an event. Left multiple messages to the event team. Unfortunately they neither pick up the phone nor have time to return our calls. Very disappointed!!!

  • Kihm Schafft

Always a great help when I call on the phone. I feel lucky to live in beautiful Bayside. My only request is please stagger roadworks and other infrastructure improvements so it’s not a on at the same time causing traffic chaos. Ta! ✌ …

  • Jan Campbell

I am disappointed that your parking inspectors are so desperate for revenue that they book you for being "not completely in bay area" when you have a parking spot (hard to find) but 4 inches is not within the line. That is just miserable.

  • J A

We have very bad experience with Bayside City Council: poor green waste collection service, poor service attitude and poor communication skills with residents. They treat residents not in a nice and friendly way but mean and careless.

  • Georgia Brandi

Spoken to staff four times in the last few months and they've always been kind, efficient and helpful. (These low-star reviewers obviously have never dealt with the horror of Port Phillip Council. Bayside is a eutopia in comparison.)

  • Ned Ranasinghe (Ned)

What a joke of a council calling since two weeks to sort my matter and operator tells me her computer is down and she will get back to once it's fixed, I called 5 times over last two weeks still their computer is not working hahhaa

  • Bailey Romp

Purely here because of my parking fine. I was completely at fault, but you cannot fine $165 for parking in front of the site I was working at. That’s more than a days pay for me as an apprentice. Greedy abuse of power.

  • Alexandra Hutchison

Very difficult to reach a specific person. Even though Council was waiting to hear from us regarding a sinkhole on the natures trip caused by wilful damage of our private storm water pipe by a neighbour's builder.

  • Sandy Leonards

A fine for a man feeding birds!!!!! You are morons and will be voting you all out next election and we want mayor and CEO removed will be pushing for an inquiry remember mahajar in auburn nsw you are next

  • Jake Tudor

Just wanted to give a shout out to the man that helped me arrange for some trees to be trimmed at a property in Brighton East (Ref: 20924600)... very friendly and helpful! Give that man a raise!

  • Tim Bydder

Received terrible, uncaring service from the Bayside city council. Would not recommend living in this area for the mere risk that you’ll have to deal with the local fee and fine hungry council.

  • David Creaco

I wish I could rate 0 stars. No consideration for people's time and disorganised. Went to head office to pay a fine and wait for more than an hour because nobody knew the process. Terriable

  • The Backlist

I have just over $100 in my wallet and they expect me to pay $200 dollars for a parking fine, even if my excuse is valid. Not only that paying for my grandpa's funeral You are all scum!

  • Shuming Huang

these people working in the parking fine department needs find new jobs, robots can do better jobs. Our rates shouldn't be going towards these lazy, rude, unsympathetic rude people.

  • Kaz Willy

Terrible council, issue 3 parking fines for a week which they don't even have clue for it- parking within 10m of intersection??? Have they check the distance and other parking area?

  • Luke

The most expensive council parking I have every seen in my life. This is public land. Local councils like this do more harm than good in the life of citizens. Get rid of them.

  • Betty Boo

Appalling customer service. It's not difficult to exercise empathy, respect and patience towards your ratepayers. Hope the government phases you all out. You're a nasty mob!

  • Lindsay Bull

What have you done to the Beaumaris sports club ??? Cricket nets are an absolute disgrace. Put in the middle of a car park and with a half net - what are you guys thinking?

  • Manwella Bandido

average service here after a long wait. woman didnt even know where i could source a list of local afterschool care facilities for the Bayside region. not impressed really

  • Desmond McMillan

I rang about some hard rubbish that was missed during a collection. The young lady at the council was a delight to deal with. Thank you Amie. Excellent service.

  • life

Instantly Sorted !!! Wow thanks so much Simone D for sending me the information I needed within 3 minutes Greatly appreciated ! Terrific efficiency and service

  • Gary Gould

The staff cannot answer simple questions on the waste collection of their Rubbish bins. All this council knows how to do well is charge a lot of money.

  • Mythi Cole (Alcatraz)

Horrible service, no patience when I'm trying to explain the issue at hand inside the councils operating area. Very poor effort! I expected much better

  • Busy Man

It’s beautiful, clean and spacious. The most attractive thing to me was the electric cars charging spot which is available in the council parking

  • James James

Fine an older person for having her dog on her own driveway. Any wonder Victoria is becoming A Ghost State.Lets all move to another state.

  • Shiva Adhikari

Got fined while trying to get to the parking machine and back within 10 min . Seems like they hide in bushes to get you.

  • claire gillespie

Was on hold for ages about a leakage in the area. Obviously not urgent to them. In the end up they did nothing about it

  • Cindy Chooi

Adam was really helpful at helping our business resolve a complaint. He was quick follow up phone calls and email.
