What an interesting place Beer Bar and Bar X is. First we hit up Beer Bar, went up to the bar and ordered some pints. We went to the back outside patio to grab a seat by a portable fire pit. It was interesting in the sense of the different types of people here. I truly love how eclectic the crowd was the by far the most diverse I’ve seen here in SLC since I’ve been here for the past 2 weeks. Thank god. Next we went next door to Bar X. The look of this place was cool as it was a mix of lounge and old western motif. The drinks were solid, the music was on (a mix of disco, trance and some pop). However the scene was a little casual as some folks wore ball caps and hoodies. I think if there was a dress code, it could really be a solid spot. Street parking is available.

Ridiculously huge beer selection! The sober friends tagging along should know that they only have Pepsi products :( but if you're a beer person this place does not disappoint! Food: The beer cheese was pretty salty, like I didn't want to eat it salty, but I don't know if that's how it normally is or if I got an off batch. The pretzel was also pretty salty so the beer cheese/pretzel combo was a bit much; in the future I will get some other sauce. My wife got one of the veggie dogs and LOVED it; my brother-in-law got the curry dog and found it to be very, possibly too spicy, but I don't know if he's just a wimp when it comes to spicy food. Monday nights they play classic rock and roll and it is delightful! It is pretty noisy in there, so pick somewhere else for romantic evenings, but it's great for casual drinks with buds or watching sports in a not-super-sports-bar atmosphere (I am not a sports bar person and I like this place).

Went to a festival downtown and we decided to stop by this bar since it was close to the venue. Started out fun, drinks were okay but def overpriced. A couple dudes were making us uncomfortable so after we bought our 3rd drink, we asked the bar tender to watch our drinks so we could go across the street and get a slice of pizza. We came back and we’re told we were too “inebriated” to come back in… from the same bar tender who felt comfortable selling us a 3rd drink which we hadn’t even drank yet cause she said she’d watch them at the bar while we got food. She would not give us a reason why she felt this way, especially when she was the one who sold us a 3rd beer. And would not let us even say bye to the people we had meet there. Lame bar, lame staff. Definitely 100 better options in Salt Lake with better drinks, staff, and overall atmosphere.

It's a beer bar. Limited alcohol and wine selection but a vast array of beer. The food is good but only sausage, burgers and one entree salad. Even when they are packed the line goes fairly quickly and it has a fun camaraderie if you show up for a Utah Football game or a USMNT match. A fun night out with friends. For an intimate date night go next door to BarX.

Vegetarian options
They have veggie sausage options
Dietary restrictions
They have gluten-free beer, and brats can be served on fries or salad instead of a bun (you'd have to ask if the fryers are gluten free for the fries but I didn't see anything breaded on the menu so I assume only potatoes in the fryers)

The beer is slightly overpriced. The staff is probably great when this place is busy, but not very attentive when it's slow. They prefer to gather and shoot the breeze instead of attending to customers. Now the big surprise...the food blows. It's pretty bad. Get really drunk first because you'll be disappointed otherwise. Who messes up a brat?? I got a dry salty sausage with no sauce on a monster bun. If I wanted salty jerky and loaf of bread thats what I would have ordered. Did the staff notice my displeasure and try to fix the situation when I mentioned it....of course not. For the flagship Bhan Mi item I was so very disappointed. So if you want an overpriced covid beer check this place out. If you're hungry save yourself the letdown. $45 for two beers and a reject meal was my two star experience.

This place has a fantastic selection of both draft and bottled beers! There are quite a few specialty beers that you may not be able to find elsewhere in Utah. They consistently have several sour beers on tap, as well, which is a deciding factor for me! Their brats and their fries are delicious, too. The only real downside to the Beer Bar is that it is so loud you can't have much conversation over your beer and brat. I realize there's not much the bar can do about this, but it is something to consider if you're going. Sometimes the bartenders have a hipster-snobby vibe to them, too, but certainly not all of them or all of the time. Overall, this is a great go-to spot for beer and brats! The choices are plentiful, and it's large enough you can usually find a spot to sit.

  • Andy Ballard

A great selection of beer but same can be far too expensive, $35 a bottle? Come on. The space is designed around one of those German places with communal seating. They serve a small selection of bratwurst to boot and are a different item one doesn't usually expect. It's creative and pairs pretty well with the beer. Again, the beer selection has a broad range both in styles and price. There are screens everywhere usually playing sports. I don't like sports so it doesn't interest me and takes away from the experience. One could say it's a sports bar, but sometimes they have movies with the sound down. And the place lack sound dampening design so it gets loud quickly when there are a lot of people. I think it's by design to give the site of a communal space.

  • Jackson Eardley

Delicious food and a huge beer selection. I had their gyro fries, and even though I got the half size the bowl was still piled high with lamb sausage, super thin cucumber slices, tomato, onion, tzatziki sauce, and feta cheese on top of some really crispy and delicious fries.I would have to be seriously hungry to try for a full size. Other people in my party got their brats, and they looked equally oversized and delicious. Even if you aren't a beer person or you're not drinking, the food here is well worth the trip. If you are a beer person, their menu is huge and I saw a lot of interesting variety. I'm definitely coming again.

I absolutely love the Beer Bar! I took my niece here so we can try places in the area. We're Cali girls so we wanted to see what we can find in SLC. When we arrived we were instantly greeted. My niece ordered right away but I needed some time. There are a LOT of beers to choose from and I wanted to take my time to choose the right beer for me. Thankfully the staff understood and were very patient with me. I finally committed to a beer and relaxed. The ambiance is awesome. It's downtown but it's chill, it reminded me of a beach bar I use to go to. Everyone was distanced enough, there was sanitizer available, and mask signs which I appreciate. I will definitely go back and I will recommend to my friends.

  • Gabi Pensari-McQuay

My first visit here was during the first FIFA world cup game and what an absolute incredible experience. The place was so alive and their were plenty of screens for you to watch the games wherever you were seated. They had a limited menu, but thankfully still had the impossible burgers as an option! They really meet up to the expectations of their name and have a plethora of beer options, both on tap and canned or bottled. I would absolutely recommend going, especially for a big game day. But get there early!

I came in during my lunch break to grab a beer and a burger. I tried the beer bar burger. It was straight fire. There’s a bratwurst in it cut down the middle. The Burger even had that cast iron crust with the cheese GOOEY. The service is great, also. They act all relaxed, and chill, while they are actually working really quickly. I’ll come back for the food but stay for the beer. They have like 200 beers here. It’s insane.

"BEER BAR" is one of Salt Lakes great local spots. They have a huge selection of beers on tap, combined with a very knowledgeable staff. What makes it truly unique is the unbelievable selection of bratwurst available! They have everything from Pork and Beef bratwurst to Exotic options like venison and andoulie! Tons of different condiment options with each bratwurst as well! It is one of my favorite places to eat when you are looking for something different. Great staff, great layout, great music and TVs. Truly five star!

Loud...but fun. Went with some co-workers after a conference and we had a blast. Limited seating when we went because all of Salt Lake was there. So much fun, tons of beers, and food options. The bar tender I had wasn't very nice though. As a novice beer drinker I asked a simple question, "what kind of stouts do you have?" He responded "we have lots". I asked further and just picked the first one he said because he clearly wasn't there to be helpful. Other then that it was a great place and I would gladly go back.

  • Joanna Champion

This has been a personal favorite of mine for many years maybe since 2016. I absolutely Adore Katie and Robbie! Every one is very knowledgeable on the wide variety of brews offered here. The burger is so delectable as well. The atmosphere here is great either on chill days or when it's jam packed for game day! They host live music/dj's sometimes. I've had some great friendships start here. I'll always support Beer Bar as should you! Cheers

Good selection of beers on tap and in bottle. The bartender let us sample quite a few. The food was very good. You can buy brats to cook too. There was option to have a brat on a bun or on top of fries. About 5 fry sauces to choose from. Would not recommend the chimchuri brat sauce. The parsley was not as finely ground as it should be. Plenty of seating inside and about 4 tables outside. Street parking outside.

Oh man. They brew their own beer and make their own sausages. What's not to love? Relaxed atmosphere, board games, quality craft beer. Even access to a bar next door (Bar X). I gobbled up the bahn mi brat like it was the only meal I'd had in days. Delish! Oh and make sure you extra of the dipping sauce you order (we got the Utah fry sauce), you will be scraping the bottom for more. Dad and Pleather (or Pleather Daddy) made our first eatery in Utah a wonderful experience.

  • Stephen

The employees are cliquish and act like they're in high school. The guy who goes by Larry has a serious anger and attitude problem. That's a lot to put up with for burned bratwurst, over-priced drinks and the overflow of addicts from Johnny's, the coke den next door. Oh, and one of the bouncers, Dalton Devore (the fat one in the newsboy cap), lied about his coworkers to get them fired. Definitely a pass from me.

The guy with long hair and a mustache who took our order gave us attitude when we weren't aware that the menu online wasn't up to date, and just had a rude demeanor the entire conversation. Pretzel was worse than a middle school hockey game, brat was pretty good. Other than that, League Finals were on, which was cool I guess.

This is a great place to hang out, they have some great food options. It’s also a great place to catch a sports game as they have many screens in their main area. For food, I personally loved the gyro fries. The back patio is a great place to hang out and they have some outdoor seating in the front too. The only thing I wish was better was their speed of service. All drinks and food are ordered at one bar and the line was really slow

  • Kyrie Shaw

Beer Bar has opened a back patio in the lot behind the building!! It's amazing these places are able to find new ways to accommodate both the beautiful weather in spring, as well as provide these outdoor spaces for patrons to feel safer gathering. I do also love that their beer menu is ever changing. I enjoy trying new versions of old favs when I come in, and the staff is quick to recommend based on your tastes. Great experience.

I’m down here inn Utah for business and I googled “bars near me…” and the first one that popped up and caught my eye was BEER BAR::::::and I was like F@*% it let’s Ride and when I got there on Sunday from Cali had drinks and there salad it was amazing and pacífico on TAP!!! Perfect spot too go I recommend it to anybody that comes inn too town….. amazing hot spot to cum and chill and have drinks and food!!! Grade “A+”

Went here with friends for food and drinks. It’s beer garden feel but no one under 21 is allowed inside. So not family friendly. But dogs are allowed. You order at the counter and seat yourself. Staff is friendly good overall vibes. They have some tv screens. Burgers are really good. They have a lot of bratwurst options. They also have an outdoor section with some fire pits.

Obviously they have a fantastic beer selection. Really enjoy trying a beer I've never had before every time I go. Also the food menu had been expanded since I was their last! The loaded fries looked amazing! Their basic brats and fries are delicious. Only issue is it can get pretty loud there, so not the best place if you are looking for quiet conversation or trying to get to know someone for the first time.

Great place for a beer and a fabulous flavorful meal in the middle of the day on a Sunday! Their Ruben fries were killer! Only thing is the patio was totally full... But inside is a nice spot to sit out of the sun too.

STAY AWAY from this bar at all cost!! The service is absolutely terrible, ridiculous prices and they make you go to a completely different bar to purchase tickets to get in. Utah’s local craft brew headquarters! If you’re looking for a casual place to explore Utah‘s amazing local brews, this is it. They have a wide selection of stouts, ales, IPAs, sours and a full bar next-door that can get you a cocktail if that’s more your thing. This is always a spot I take people to who are from out of town. Check it out! Fun Fact: Ty Burrell owns this bar (last I heard).

  • Hanna Weakley

Incredibly crowded for pie and beer day, but definitely worth braving the crowd. If you do not wish to sample the pies and beer pairing, their pricing is fair and the sausages they serve are really really good. Plus they have their normal menu available. For pie and beer day 30 dollars may seem much for 5 beer and pie pairings, but it's only 6 per pairing. Which in my books is worth it.

  • Drew Barnett

Been here dozens of times. Love this place!! On the weekdays it’s amazing and such a good vibe. I stay away on the weekends as it can have a college bar vibe. But it is close to the college so you can’t blame them. The frites and brats are the best in town. Amazing. The staff is always very kind and the bathrooms are super clean. This is a salt lake staple and I highly recommend it.

  • Miles Hicks

It was okay. Low key tables and chairs out back but I had to fetch my own pitcher of beer and then a girl, that I think was a waitress? awkwardly lingered and gathered up glasses while mumbling to herself. No attempt to sell us anything or interest in making a tip of any sort. I had always been interested to go there, it was my first time, but I will likely not return.

  • Eugene “Gingie” Bata

Beer bar is a great establishment! They have a great selection. I know this is a weird detail but for me, they play music at that right volume where you can hear it and understand it but not so load its a pain to hold a conversation at a normal level. Great atmosphere. And the Pie and Beer day event is the greatest holiday I have never heard of. It was a ton of fun!

  • holly marie

Stopped by to watch the game & had a bite to eat. I got a burger & it was pretty good. The only downside was that the fries were overcooked & they didn't have copper cups for the Moscow mules. Otherwise I enjoyed my experience here

The atmosphere is nice, very casual and a good place to unwind. Nice lighting, music, and movies or sports on the projectors. Great selection of beer (served exclusively), delicious fries, but though the brats are pretty good, they're too pricey. Good place for groups. Beer Bar is connected to BarX, where you can get cocktails and bring 'em over.

Rather enjoyed this place - reminded me of many places I've been to over the years which was nice. Great beer selections, also grabbed some food late night - both the black and blue, and annadoulie sausages were excellent. Definitely will be back, definitely need to try more beers, but I really think it was the food that did it for me.

  • Laura D

Amazing beer selections! The bartenders are also great at giving suggestions. It is a great place for getting quality/unique beers. If you enjoy trying new beers, this is the place to go. The outside patio is so fun too and have games you can play. The food is also incredible. All around, recommend this place for beers and food.

every time I fly back to salt lake, beer bar is one of the top places I want to visit. sure, I run into people from high school I 9/10 times don’t want to see but the beer selection and location makes it all worth it. this bar represents salt lake in its truest form. forever will love this place. also, fries are killer.

Large variety, nice selection of local taps at a reasonable price. Several of the bottles were outrageously high priced. Great place for friends & gathering after work, lively atmosphere, a bit loud. Nice outdoor patio if it were warmer weather would've been great to sit on. Metered street parking or garage nearby.

Beers are good. But the food is garbage. Came here on September 4th and the fries were so hard. Sent them back and when they brought fries they were still hard. Not sure if they were using old oil or overcooking them. Will not be coming here for food again

Really enjoyed myself at this bar. Two bar scenes available just by walking through a door. Service was great. Beer selection was great. Brat was fine. It’s a bar not a diner. A bit pricey for a brat without a side. That’s my only knock, you can get brats in Germany that taste better and are less expensive.

  • Maddy Sale

5 stars because even though it was hard to find a place to sit their food and beer is supreme. The loaded fries are LAZILY constructed but the fries without any toppings are enough to distract you from our increasingly oppressive government (for a little bit at least). Do yourself a favor and COME HERE.

This place has an excellent selection of beers! Absolutely loved being able to try 6 different sour beers. It's not often you find a place with that many sour beer options. Beer Bar is a local classic. Serving a large array of draft beer and an even more impressive selection of canned/bottled beer. Join their stein club for 20 bucks and fill up a 36oz stein for 9 dollars. Saves you some cash when you know are having a few beers. Outdoor seating is very nice as well.

Great selection of beers. Good meet-up/hang out spot in the heart of the bar scene downtown. Mostly 21-30 year olds here. The French fries and sausages/brats are delicious if a little pricey. That's also the only food they offer so coming here with a large aperitif probably isn't the best option.

Beer bar lives up to its name, if you're looking for a spot downtown with an excellent beer selection, this is it. Usually has a buzzy atmosphere and can get crowded on the weekends, great place to watch sports. You gotta love the selection of fry sauces that come with their fries, pure Utah.

Great relaxed casual bar. Concrete and picnic tables. Excellent collection of beers. Many craft sausages... Yes craft sausages, you got that right. Elk, Basque Chorizo, tomato basil, and many more. Hard to go wrong. Today lots of classic rock for music. A great go to place when downtown.

When this place isn't crowded like it is on the weekends, I really enjoy the atmosphere. They have a good selection of beers from local, national, and international brewers and the food is delicious. The interior design is excellent and the place is clean. If you like beer, check it out.

Unique and lively bar. Bench seating is great for rubbing elbows and meeting new friends. Varied sporting events are large-projected on the walls. Incredible selection of beer (obviously! Including gluten free options). I would hang here any day of the week.

  • Cowgirl & Her Bear

Excellent service, friendly bartenders! Nick the bar back was sweet and brought us waters outside even though he didn’t have to! Great vibe for a Friday night! Highly recommend!

I love the burgers there. They are a normal size rather than super huge and messy like most bars. I sure wish they had bud light though. So much craft beer can kill a person.

Great place to get a beer. Wonderful German style atmosphere with many TV sets to watch sports on. A huge selection of beer to choose from, and some awesome brats, pretzels, and small fares top full your belly. I recommend and will definitely return.

So-so. Nothing spectacular cocktail wise (can't even make a bloody mary) but if you are seeking a variety of draft beer they do have that. Burgers and brats are better than most average fried bar grub so that is a plus as well for having real food.

Great weekday bar! Gets a lil too hectic for me on weekends. Awesome selection, and BarX next door makes it easy for friends who don’t like brews to get a cocktail.

Lots of choices of sausages, yummy. Great fries. HUGE selection of beers. Huge! Comfy seats, tables, nice service. Great sports TVs, but most people are not paying attention, so don't think it's a sports bar and write it off, it's a beer bar.

  • Greta Ladson

I love the atmosphere here! Featuring hall style bench seating, they have one of the best selections of beer to pair with whatever kind of brat your heart could desire. One of my favorite places to watch soccer -that isn't the RioT of course.

  • Ivy Mosier

Beer Bar is a fun spot to watch games or hang with friends. My partner and I got a (very affordable) pitcher of tap beer, two burgers and the pretzel. The beer was great, burgers were fine, pretzel was cold and solid in parts. Disappointing

Their selection of beers is quite vast. Went on a busy Saturday night and they had a good amount of seating and standing space as well as games people could play. Hooked directly to bar x for liquor and cocktails and it had a more low key j

Great selection of beer. Fun atmosphere - though it can get a little too loud. Some nights they play movies on all their walls. It's a great spot to check out if you like to try a few different beers and don't mind the younger crowd.

  • Michael Chapman

Over the years they’ve maintained their hype since opening. An always growing selection of beers focusing on the locals, fresh brauts, fries you just can’t pass up, live sports on TV from all angles, and just an overall good time.

  • Nick Como

Awesome beer list! Knowledgeable staff. Perfect after work for a (few) beers. The brat menu is stellar as well. The line to order beer can be long, would love it if one day they would do table service and/or an app to order from.

I was looking for a soccer bar in SLC and stumbled upon this place. They were showing a champions league match on 5 different TVs with audio on a Tuesday afternoon. Good selection of beers. Would recommend if you’re in the area

  • Steve Casey

Great selection of Utah brews and a few from other states. Sadly, we did not have any food, but the brauts and other links smelled and looked fantastic. The overall experience was great

Killer beer selection, salty and soft fries along with killer sausages, combined with good service, TVs, games, and a connection to bar-x. Place is top tier for a chill night or meeting the boys for a afternoon soccer game

FUN! Sausage and beer!!! Happy I found this place during my stop in Salt Lake. Will be back here, great place to hang and even watch some sports. Sour beer selection rocked and the bar attached next door is great as well!

Bartender didn’t care that there was a MASSIVE line. They were the rudest people I’ve ever met, the drinks suck, and the interior is terrible.

I was excited about the food here but was denied entry because I'm from Ontario Canada, apparently Europeans are also not welcome. Went next door instead. Boo to the beer place!

Beer and bratwurst! More than a hundred types of beer and hard cider. Bartenders were super nice and gave good information. Enjoy my first bratwurst. Check them out. Good vibe check!

Great place to watch the Utes game or other sporting events. They have a great selection of beers, the atmosphere is cool both in and outside. Staff was nice all the time. More
