Hadn't been in awhile so I came by recently. I used to stop by to get Japanese potatoes or Scotch Bonnets. This time it reeked of cigarettes. Like teens were hiding in the back and chain smoked hours ago but the smell lingered hours later. I wasn't impressed with the produce. I like the option to buy goods that other stores confine to one single aisle, but that doesn't mean the store has to raggedy. I've purchased some of these products at groceries stores in their country of origin and they weren't this roguish with it. At this point in my life I just want more so I will go elsewhere.

I love Bestworld Supermarket! If you've spent any time overseas, this will be your store. It has aisle after aisle of foods from around the world crammed into a no-thrills large store in the center of Mt Pleasant. If you're a foodie and want to cook with some top foods from around the world, go here! A few things to point out: 1) They have a good produce aisle. 2) They have two sections of spices for cheap and tons of it. 3) The cheese section skews hispanic, but it's so good! 4) Pinatas are on sale all the time! Definitely go here for a DC adventure!

Because there is no other choice... you may end up there. The fruits and vegetables are typically ruined, and dearly overpriced. I recently paid $14 for 2 eggplants, only to see later that they are priced $1.79 a piece at WholeFoods -- for a totally different quality! (and that's just one example of the fact that this place is priced higher than the top-end supermarkets...) And it does feel like a rip-off, with no prices on the shelves, poor quality, etc. It is time to have a good quality supermarket in the Mount Pleasant area!

Fantastic selection of international food items. They have been expanding their Asian foods range, so every sauce you can imagine is somewhere on the shelves. They also have a great selection of dried spices for whatever you may be cooking. The produce isn't always peak, but the selection is a decent, and you can't beat the prices they offer. This is also the only shop in Mt. Pleasant that carries cream soda.

Bestworld reminds you that mount pleasant wasn’t always a yuppie enclave full of million dollar homes. It’s a bodega on steroids, with shelves stacked to the ceiling. It’s owned by Koreans and caters to Salvadorians, so Asian and Latin specialty items abound. Yeah, a lot of the produce is rotten and often the meat counter gives off a smell. Pick your way around and there are treasures to uncover.

I would have given them 2 stars but the cashiers and other staff are very nice and helpful. They have a variety of food options from different places around the world. Recently went and their rice and pancake bags had a whole lot of bugs in them. A friend of mine accidentally bought a rotten chicken leg. I would go just check the items very carefully.

  • MY WELLNESS WORLD WITH WELLNESSLADYK.

I went to this Super Market last weekend I was so happy to find guanabana there. They had a variety of Latin products that I use. The cashier was so thoughtful and pleasant. I will be back to get more items. What a blessing. Before going I called and went to another Latin Mkt not a good experience. At Best World, it was a good experience.

Really tired of this nasty little store. I've shopped here for twenty five years and never once have they made improvements. Its convenient but I got spoiled chicken and produce that wilted on the walk home. I'm giving it 2 stars because I love the cashiers they are always so nice. After my last purchase I'm done.

Good selection of harder to find Asian pantry items within DC. Good selection of rice and specialty flours. Fresh produce is good quality for the price. I usually check here if I'm need a specific item for an ethnic dish before schlepping out to VA or MD. 4 times out of 5 I can find it at best world.

  • Drew Morris

Produce not rotated out very well -- beware, lest you wreak fruitflies all over your pad! That being said, the prices are amazing and there's a plethora of ethnic spices and ingredients you can't find at chain stores, or if you can, they're much cheaper here. Totally recommended

  • Sarah Wisseman

All the staff here are so friendly. There's a surprising selection, considering how small the establishment is. A perfect place to pick up essentials like almond milk, avocados, and eggs. Also great for more unique ingredients that you might not find at a larger grocery store.

  • Josee Molavi

Loved the selection of Asian and Latin American pantry items, including my favorite spicy instant noodles! The produce I got (squash, blueberries, tomatoes) did not last and didn’t seem fresh. but I’d go back for the noodles or to try some Latin American pastries …

This place is a wonderful local grocery store. A nice blend of neighborhood bodega (with a big produce section) with more speciality items. I love coming here and picking up stuff for dinner and finding spices, produce, and all kinds of other stuff I've never heard of.

  • Nhut Minh Le

Great smaller ethnic supermarket in the middle of DC. There are certain that I have to go here to get. The only downside is that some of the produce isn't the freshest. Just make sure you pick it your produce well

  • Tracy Orrison

You can find almost anything you need here! The produce section is pretty big considering the size of the store and can sometimes be hit or miss, but I've always been able to find what I've needed.

  • Brian Christopher

Every thing you could want in a Latin market and qiite a few things you didn't even know you wanted. I found turmeric there when all the other major grocery stores didn't have it.

  • Krystal Simmons

Convenient neighborhood grocery with kits of great and reasonably priced Asian and Hispanic food items and produce. I love there produce choices for my type of cooking.

  • Nancy Cosner

Super convenient. Easy in and out. Certainly no shortage of product here. Enjoyed the varied products available. Live local and a super easy walk to this bodega.

  • Brian Piotrowski

A bodega in the heart of Mount Pleasant. Decent selection of products. Produce is not always the freshest, but the prices can't be beat!

  • Anne Marie Gabrielle Dujour

Love my neighborhood supermarket. I find things not available in big surfaces. It's a little small but it fits my needs. Buy local...

  • yusef shokry

Extremely over priced. Also very unsanitary. The meat section is worthy of a scene in a horror movie. Gross.

Convenience you pay for, Also they don't always rotate their stock before it spoils so buyer beware.
