Nothing about this place is conducive to studying. The quiet floors are constantly full of LOUD beeping machinery sounds of the bookshelves being moved, people have full on whispering conversations on floors five and six, the security guards are unnecessarily hostile and verbally abusive, you can get thrown out for even eating a granola bar in the wrong location but the only place you are allowed to eat is always full, the elevators never work (accessibility who??), it's full of study rooms that are perpetually locked (and have not once been available on the booking site), it closes at 12 but you get forcibly removed at 11:50 on the dot which every night without fail causes multiple people to get late penalties on assignments, the cafe isn't open on weekends when most people come to study, some outlets on the desks dont work at all, you can get kicked out if you're sitting on the floor which helps a lot of neurodivergent folks study, you can get scolded for putting your head down to rest your eyes for a second by security, i could go on but you get the gist. mclennan is a police state. it's far from accessible. probably the worst possible place to study but mcgill students have to go here because they have no choice

Very disappointing place. I find the books I'm looking for only half of the time, the other half I'm told that the book might be "lost". Books are all over the place, technicians can always be found on the main floor but almost never on the levels where the books are, doing the "cleaning up" and reordering that desperately needs to be done. Architecture is poorly drawn out, a dark and awkward place. Go to UdeM if you're a library person, plus their customer service is way better.

I was using the library for the first time since the closure due to COVID-19. Now with the restrictions it is only open to mcgill students and you have to sign up for an appointment online before going. There was lots of space and lots of social distance between study spaces. The environment was very nice and quiet. They seem to be taking very good precautions towards preventing viral spread. A safe environment to study.

In light of COVID the McLennan Library has taken the measures necessary to make sure all McGill students using its resources and the building are safe. Seeing as the city is shut down for the most part, being able to study in a building that isn't a dorm is great. Overall the study environment itself is extremely good for students who need a quiet place to get work done.

Place is nice. But, I dislike the strict librarians. They didn’t let me use the projector because it’s ‘staff only’, while I see students use it to watch the Olympics, do their projects, or even watch Hockey. Like come on, if you just hate me, say it.

Very nice library. The first floor of Redpath offers a relaxed atmosphere allowing users to talk and conduct group work. The decoration and seats are nice as well. In McLennan upper floors. The environment is great for quiet and peaceful studying.

Apparently paying the tuition alone is not enough to get you into this library; you have to go through a mandatory medical procedure to use this essential service as a student. And even if you are fully vaxxed you may be stopped by the … Plus

Merveilleux endroit pour étudier. Ici, il y a trois niveaux, les ordinateurs, la nourriture et parler fort et le dernier niveau est silencieux. J'adore cette bibliothèque. Même si vous n'êtes pas étudiant à McGill.

McLennan first floor is the best place to study if you need a little bit of background noise to focus. Although everything in premiere moisson is overpriced and I hope the mice problem in the basement is fixed...

  • Manal Raoui

Merveilleux endroit pour étudier. Proche des restaurants et cafés. Première moisson dans le sous-sol (pas l'été). Elle est ouverte plus de jours que tous les autres bibliothèques de la ville. N'ouvre pas 24/24.

no reviews really in the last 2 to 4 years. I think that it's weird McGill paid money to hire security guards and librarians to watch students because of covid, but they can't even identify ID or do any … Plus

This library is great! With it, writing essays get rid of some problems. Then, there are books in so many languages from literature to academic works, I even found complete works of Chinese writers in Chinese.

McGill's McLennan library has a special Rare books collection. Do visit if you a bibliophile. Make prior appointment by email. Check the website for further details. I can guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Je ne suis pas une étudiante de McGill mais j'ai souvent eu recours à cetre bibliothèque. J'ai toujours reçu un service courtois et dévoué de la part du personnel. J'ai aussi apprécié les scanner high-tech!

  • Erika De Torres

This library is massive! The one thing I believe can be improved on is how cold the whole library is. It’s honestly so cold especially when you get to the higher floors. Bring a sweater!

  • K J

Please note that although the service desk is closed on weekends the library is still open to the public to use. Good natural light in some areas with quiet study areas.

mclennan is THE mcgill library. where I chose to study for exams, read something of my own. unlike the science library it's got a more relaxed attitude

Mc gill campus is awesome! The street are clean and beautiful. The architecture is kind of impressive. The library is great, very quiet and free wifi.

  • M M

Amazing library. Has everything you need! People whisper so loud on the 5th and 6th floors as if it’s a social gathering, so maybe avoid those floors.

  • Catherine Chen

Good soundproof study rooms so I can listen to taylor swift and cry at full volume. Fun red stickers. Almost makes me believe I will graduate

  • Abby Marie

This is a great, modern, high tech library with excellent refernences and staff support. Definitely one of the better places I have studied.

  • Henry Chen

Has a very nice ambiance and is a great environment for studying. However, the library becomes packed to the brim when the finals approach.

  • Maxime Masson

One of McGill University's librairies. Books, study space, rooms for groups, etc. Restaurant and eating area on site. Multiple floors.

Very practical library with a full cafe in the basement. You may like to bring an extra coat during the summer due to the strong AC.

  • Google User

Excellent place to learn. The Rare Books director gave us a tour and explanation of Dante's 'The Divine Comedy.' Good experience.

I love studying here 10/10 would recommend, if you don’t study at McGill still you can use the internet as a guest ☺️

  • Shelsea Saint-Fleur

Perfect to study! Have a lot of space and people respect the fact that it’s a library and you are not allowed to talk

  • Louisa Hanson

  • Vladimir Batroni
