I have been here many times and the consistency is always on point. The service is direct, straightforward, nothing more and nothing less. It's what you expect when you go into a pub-pizza joint and that can be a good thing or bad thing depending on what you want out of your customer service experience. For me, I like coming here hanging out with my friends and grabbing a slice of pizza without much interruption so it works for me. The vibe of the place is pub meets pizza joint, as I stated earlier, so it's chill, easy, slightly retro (which I like) and comfortable. The food is very good - I like New York style pizza which means the pizza overall is thin, you can bend it to eat it and it has a good sauce to cheese ratio. Big Mario's version is simple, tasty and gets the job done in a good way. Like the service, the vibe and the food is not in your face but it's comfortably present and it always a good experience.

I'm not gonna lie; I was drinking and doing Capitol Hill stuff, but man, something about this pizza hits different. While I was in line, a man behind me raved how as an Uber driver who lives 90 miles outside of the city, he WILLINGLY drives to Cap Hill for a slice of pie in the middle of the night because it's THAT good. I was not disappointed. The restauranteurs use premium pepperoni slices and generously sprinkle the pie with it. The crust has that classic NY-style crunch that you can't find anywhere else. I loved the pizza so much that I went back for a second helping and ate it at a temperature that scorched my mouth. HOLY MOTHER OF SMOKES - this is good pie! I look forward to eating it sober and non-sober. :)

I have a tight lunch schedule and decided to stop by to get a to go slice. It was good enough pizza that I decided to bring my friend to get a slice two days later. I had slice of the Sicilian and is was scrumtious. Only thing is the seating inside is 21+ so if you get something and your under 21 it has to be to go. Definitely recommend if you need a quick bite, in and out in under 3-5 minutes depending on the line.

First time here the other night and there were a number of things that were off putting. The first thing was the girl working the counter pulled a fresh pizza off a tray, wiped it down with a dirty rag, and threw it back on top of the pizza oven. The second thing was she tried to give me a slice that consisted of about 50 percent bread bubble with no cheese or toppings. She was visibly annoyed I requested a different slice and was rude about it. The third thing is they keep full kegs for the bar in the corner of the bathroom. These are not blown kegs. Full kegs waiting to be tapped. In the bathroom. Gross. I will not ever come back. Read through the other reviews, clearly there is a problem here.

I eat here often as a dine in slice and beer lunch place. It is good. But when you take the pie home and it cools you realize it’s not that great. And I love cold pizza. I almost prefer it. So I decided to write a review. The dough is good. The ovens are alright. It’s a properly toasted and chewy pizza. No issue there. But the sauce and cheese ratio seems inconsistent and the sauce has been off recently. It is too salty and spicy. It needs more sweetness to balance out their stanky hot pepperoni. Dine in, or forget it.

We were excited to try Big Mario's pizza. We ordered two pizzas through Doordash. At first it said the pizza would be delivered after two hours, which was insane, but we stayed patient, hoping the waiting period would improve. Then when the time approached the time of delivery, that window kept being pushed back further and further, to the point we had to cancel the order as it was going to be delivered past midnight, and it didn't look like it was going to happen. Disappointing service and ruined our evening plans.

The pizza here is delicious. It's usually by the slice but you can also order whole pizzas I believe. The atmosphere is fun and chill. Bartender is quick to serve and is really chill. I'm giving a lower rating for service because there's a woman who works behind the pizza counter who's just not pleasant to deal with at all. Doesn't matter if you're pleasant, or if you tip, she's just miserable and it's overall not a pleasant interaction when she's there.

I know a lot of people enjoy the pizza here, but the staff is absolutely the worst you’ll ever come across. I walked in, and there was 2 people sitting on buckets. And one of them looked at me and looked down, i just stood there surprised. He eventually got up, but when he did. He was absolutely bothered and provided the worst costumer service. This place is absolutely trash. The worst part of it all was that the pizza was actually a bit cold. At this point, i knew their staff were awful so to avoid the drama. Go somewhere else, you’ll be treated much better at hot mamas down the street, literally.

  • Toni G.

I wanted to rate this place low so y'all will stay out of it lolol but I can't do that to all the workers. Big Mario's is it. The bartenders are great and the food is good. If you like a thicca pizza this pizza isn't for you (Try Hot Mama's). Mario's be playin good music and it's a vibe. Oh yeah, your kids are allowed in the pizza area but CANNOT sit inside as it is a bar. There are some seats outside.

I got double charged for a pizza pie and have been trying to get a refund for 3 weeks already and all of the staff tell me that only a manager is capable of issuing a refund. No Manager has reached out to me. There was a older gentleman who worked there named Bob but apparently they no longer work there. I am not giving up hope that I will get my $38 back so leaving this 1 star rating so someone who cares could contact me. I HAVE CALLED MULTIPLE TIMES AND NOBODY KNOWS OR IS WILLING TO PROVIDE ME WITH THE PHONE NUMEBR OF THE manager. No Accountability sadly

I always drove by but I was too busy to stop in. Anyways the other day I just pulled over into the turn lane flip my hazards on, and I was in and out within 5 minutes. The slices are huge and the selection is good, You just pick what you want they grab it and stick it in the oven and next thing you know you are eating some really really good pizza. There's also a place outside to eat undercover, and the atmosphere is very Urban but cozy at the same time. Honestly I didn't know New York style pizza could taste so good.

Mario's is iconic to the city. In addition to their long history here, theyre one of the few places that have 50% vegetarian options. the meat options are good. they always interesting recipes like potatoes and pesto pizza. it's not quiet but it's always a good time. Pull tabs, scratch tickets, an eclectic beer tap selection, TVs to watch the game, and cocktails. BUT do not go with any $100 bills. They will not take it or break it per policy. If Seattle comfort were a bar, it'd be Big Mario's!

This pizza is EXCELLENT. I order the 18" the pie was hot, crisp and delicious. One slice overs a plate. It was made to order and I can't wait to go back. I'm going to try almost everyone on the menu. It's a little pricey but well worth the price.

The pizza here is amazing and a bang for your buck, regardless of how drunk you are! Very cool staff as well. The lighting felt a little overwhelming but it made my pizza look blue which is invigorating. Also the ranch is delicious, I had to drink what I had left.

Really good pizza; hits just as good as when you were intoxicated on a Saturday night pre 2020 with all your friends. Or you’re sober and on a long walk to clear your mind cuz you know you aren’t ready for the socially distanced summer. Your personality has once again become terrible, and that’s ok! They have a rotating assortment of pizza, and that’s the worst part of being here, is walking in with a open heart and mind for pizza, and having to make a choice. Don’t worry, you can’t go wrong. That’s the magic of this place. Every slice is wonderful.

  • Matthew

Old school, New York pizzeria vibes. Seemed like they had a music venue attached but didn’t explore as we ate outside. Super hot inside (makes sense with the ovens). Bartender was a bit spazzy but nice enough guy

Excellent place to have pizza ,a beer, and to meet someone new and I'm interesting. One of my favorite places to have pizza because I always meet someone interesting to talk too. The last time I went I met a girl visiting from Vancouver Island and ended up spending the rest of the day with her at Golden garden Beach. Good times.

As an East-Coast expat, I had despaired. I had lamented; I had even gnashed my teeth at the prospect of never having a good NY style slice again. Seattle's pizza offerings seemed... lacking. Sure, there's good stuff, but nothing like I was used to. And then I found Big Mario's, and I rejoiced. Good cheese, the crust has the right amount of crunch, and they use the good peperoni, which makes me very, very happy. In short, I love it and I'll 100% be ordering from them again. Plus, I love the box!

  • Pablo Chillin

Totally disgusting behavior from the girl at the front counter. Tonight I saw her disrespect and give the finger to a doordasher while all he kept saying was “thank you” while being verbally abused. Overheard later that the guy was on the ““wrong”” side of the line. Do not recommend

This is the spot to blow off steam. Such a great forget it all vibe. Eat pizza and drink booze.... That is all. The slices are crispy and perfect. Make sure to ask for your pizza slice with the crispy you need. Shots here are triples, so be ready for the full send. The VHS player has a full stack of tapes ready for all your 80s memories. Can't recommend making this do enough.... It's raw, fun, and ready to go!!!

A busy pizza joint. It's not big and definitely isn't cozy. The pizza is on the OK side, they've got Hawaiian and pepperoni (possibly more). They've also got a bar, so that makes it a bit unique. Or is it a bar that serves fresh pizza? Good and fast service, though. There's a separate line for pizza only too, which can get quite lengthy. Be prepared to be photo bombed by some of the staff. Service - 4 Food/drinks - 3 Prices - 3 Comfort - 2 A very eclectic crowd here. Seriously.

Pizza is great but the service is not the best as I was eating my pizza and was about done with three quarters of my slice and the bartender picks up my paper plate and tossed it in the trash. I would be nice if the staff asked first but this is Capitol Hill. They also need name tags on their pizza forsale or warning that the pizza is spicy.

The pizza was decent but nothing to write home about, standard pizza window takeout slice. What really bothered me is how cold and unwelcoming the staff are. I felt like I inconvenienced them for trying to make an order. There's plenty of mid pizza around without the rudeness and angry atmosphere.

Pretty great place. It's the best place for a quick slice on this side of the hill. Much better then hot mamas or madd (shots fired) I looked sizzle pie the best, but that's just personal opinion. But now that they're gone this is my place for pizza! It's a heavier pizza, so get ready for a full belly. But I love the atmosphere of this place and great music and anyplace with vhs movies in deck is pretty rad.

Good pizza choices; as the night goes on the slice choices get slimmer, but still a good variety. They’re open til 2am on weekend which is a bonus. One-two slices per person is a fair among to get the bellies full.

Order from the QA location for pick up all the time and just received this HORRIFIC looking pizza now via delivery from the Capitol Hill location. I ordered pepperoni (there are none) and jalapeño and tomatoes, the veggies look uncooked as does the overall pizza, and it looks like they even took some of the jalapeños off but kept two? Makes zero sense. Gross

2 stars for the pizza, added a star for the establishment. Late night spot for a slice. New York style, sure but New York quality? Not so much. Slices range from $3-5 and are constantly made so they’re fresh and served on a paper plate. Seating and bar are straight to the back, IDs are checked. I liked the divey feel to the place. An option to end the night.

Great place to grab a couple slices and couple pints! But also I would definitely just take a whole pie home to finish after smoking a nice joint. You can order online for pick or delivery using the Toast app, which we did this time around. My go to is pepperoni ofcourse but they have special pizzas like the Coppa Cobana and Pear Gorgonzola

I did not know about the state laws, the bouncer imposed them as if he were a cop. Kicked me out in the middle of me eating my pizza after I had just given up my freshly bought beer to the bar tender. Very rude individual, had he explained the laws nicely I would have complied earlier. The bouncers are bullies period.

  • Spencer Sands

Probably the best pizza I’ve had in Seattle but we stopped by for lunch and we sat at a table and my 73 year old step mother didn’t have her ID and the bartender was extremely rude to her about it (I guess it’s a rule they have?) even tho she wasn’t even drinking!

My fave fave fave pizza! I drive an hour just to get a slice! The crust is soooo good! Crispy and more importantly, perfect foldability. Sauce is slightly spicy, perfect cheese. Has a good dive bar feel, strong drinks. Ate in and got a slice to go. I always take out of towners here.

Ordered a large pepperoni and onion pizza for pick up, cold onion on top of an already cooked pepperoni pizza $27.95 tipped $2. Tried to eat a few slices, but then called, they made a new one and the girl running the register was very apologetic which is why it’s two stars not one.
