Where do I start? I didn’t expect much right. But I didn’t expect so little. I ordered a drink. Regular drink on the menu. They made it super spicy. My husband ordered a drink with multiple rums. Maybe 1 rum was in it More like a smoothie made super frothy. We ordered simple bar food. Fish and chips etc. meat dish. our food was first handed to the wrong table. Then to us. We were given no silverware or utensils. After waiting 10 minutes my hubby finally got up to ask for silverware. Napkin. The waitress then handed him a drink I ordered. I guess it was too far to walk over to our table for her. Given an empty bottle of ketchup. Got one squirt. Asked for more tartar sauce. This time I got to play waitress and get it myself. Food was less than mediocre. When we complained to management we were told they are young. We are in our 30s. So ok. Great excuse. The only good thing was the live music. Drinks and food are horrible. Don’t waste your time or money. Don’t go!

This used to be a great, little neighborhood tavern. We have played trivia here every other week for the last three years and always enjoyed the food, service and management. However, several months ago it was sold to a new owner. Since that time things have changed. Most employees have left and the menu, quality of food, vibe and atmosphere also changed, not for the better. We were patient, hoping they’d work the kinks out. But each time we’d go back something else would disappoint us. Tonight upon arriving we were told there were no seats available, and no one would be leaving soon. Within five minutes a table opened up. At the end of the evening, we were unable to redeem a gift card we won a month ago as they were “no longer accepting these.” The same owner was the owner when we won this card. Sadly, this was the icing on the cake and we’re not giving this place any more chances and will not return. Do not recommend.

They have plenty of cocktails pretty pricey but apparently on point. They have plenty of Ace brand ales that are gluten-free and they include watermelon, mango, pear, and pineapple. They have plenty of ipas on tap if you are into the IPA'S and they also have Oktoberfest beer on tap as of right now and it wasn't too shabby. If you're looking for a place off the map that isn't your normal this is the cute little quaint spot on the corner of this Plaza in the middle of nowhere that is worth the stop in. You won't be sorry they have plenty of choices I did not eat the food here but I had plenty of choices for beverages. They did not disappoint.

I have been coming to Black Mountain Tavern for years. It has always been the place in the neighborhood I could go no matter what time of day and be welcomed, enjoy good drinks and food, and great company. But I’m even more excited with some of the recent changes. What Nichole and the team have done to elevate the atmosphere and food is unreal. I have already tried the arugula and beet salad and the veggie quinoa bowl and they are both off the charts amazing. But more than anything, this place cares about their customers. I noticed every bit of the attention to detail in the grand reopening and I ALWAYS feel well taken care of as a customer. I recommend you give this place a try if you haven’t already. And if you haven’t in a while, go back!

Nice laid back spot to have locally. No views or patio but good for a stop with friends. Waitresses were very nice and got kid food ordered and out quick to keep them happy but then took adult orders a few minutes later and came out as kids were finished. Intent was nice but then backfired.. but chive tv kept everyone entertained. Drinks were really good and made with their own spirits... lemon drop, strawberry rye and blackberry bourbon.. very good

I read so much about this place I really wanted to love it! It didn't look at all like the pics I saw online...it had a very industrial office feel as opposed to a rustic country style saloon (tavern). Staff was fantastic and the food was quite good, just didn't feel right enjoying it in the new pedestrian atmosphere. There are SO many F&B options in the Carefree/Cave Creek area, this unfortunately just fell short of expectations.....

Decent food but terrible atmosphere. The music was so loud even though there was only one other person there. The playlist was not in my taste which only made it worse. We both left with a headache. The staff were cheerful and friendly and gave prompt service. We had the nachos and sliders which were good. My cocktail (prickly lavender) just tasted like lemon juice. The Guinness was poured perfectly though. All in all not the best but the food may be worth it for some.

We came to this place from a web search for a distillery/Bistro. The distillery was no longer associated with the restaurant, so disappointing as far as that went. We had great drinks and ok food. Apps were great the fish not so good. Would recommend for sure. We shared everything.

Hidden gem. Driven past this multiple times but never stopped in until last night. Plenty of TVs for my son and I to watch multiple football games, and the food was excellent. The Ruben is fabulous..smoky pastrami was great on its own! Loved all the Whistle Pig options as well!

Awesome vibes, the remodel really gives this place a warm and inviting appeal. The polyaspartic flooring they just got done from Guardian Garage Floors goes extremely well with the wood panel walls and trim. Really brings the color scheme

Visited on 082318 ... the Mrs. had some kind of green leaf thing with chicken on it (what's it called?) Oh, it's that "salad" thing some people go for. She said it was okay. I had the Beer Cheese Burger. Apparently they concoct the beer

We saw this restaurant on Check Please Arizona and got rave reviews so we decided to go check it out ourselves. We ordered their homemade vodka drinks, which were amazing! A poutine with rich brown gravy was very good. Mahi tacos were

I have plenty of allergies, this restaurant was extremely accommodating and made me a meal off menu. The food was fresh and delicious. The service was exemplary. I ate there several times and as thankful to have found it.

David the bartender was very knowledgeable and attentive. We tried Black Mountain vodka and bought a bottle to take home. We got the bourbon bites and pretzels & beer cheese, both were delicious. We'll be back!

Small sports bar with a distillery built-in. The food was great. Three of us had burgers and they were all excellent. My son had the macaroni and cheese and also said it was great. It looked awesome.

Good food. Sports bar. *Waitress actually asked us if we liked her service because we didn't tip enough!! WHAT?? She expected more than 15%? Earn it! (And wear something besides your coat.)

No idea what the negative reviews were about, I was glad to have found a nice tavern in southwest Cave Creek which also has good hand crafted bourbon and vodka.

Cute distillery. Black Mountain Tavern & Distillery has been in business for 6 years. Great bourbon flavors. We enjoyed fried pickles and sliders. More

Food and service were decent. Very disappointing that they had NO changing tables in either bathroom. Had to change my baby in our car.
