"Blake Street provides a good way to get into Birmingham or Lichfield by train as it is a Park and Ride station where parking is free"
"Ticket office is mostly always closed, and when open someone's never there, or round the back doing something"
"The staff are friendly, but giving 1 star to the rail network due to all of the strikes lately"
It's been done up recently and actually looks quite nice now. There's even benches on the platforms now! It still has a couple of issues though: 1. The ticket office and warm shelter is rarely open. There is basically no shelter on platform 1 because they have to lock up when employees absent. 2. There's a new sneaky fining system in place, which would be fine if the signs weren't tiny. Don't think you can get away with parking in odd places that are perfectly out of the way of people anymore. Be careful and read the small print.
Blake street station. On the Lichfield Trent Valley to Birmingham New Street line. Two platforms, with steps to each. There is a ramp for disabled access to the platforms, but as usual it is mush longer. The ticket office is NOT 24 hours, seems to be 7:00am to 5:00pm. The car park does get very very busy and off side , off road parking seems to be the norm during the week. There are plenty, 8, I think disabled parking spots.
Blake Street provides a good way to get into Birmingham or Lichfield by train as it is a Park and Ride station where parking is free. Rail services are half hourly and the journey to Birmingham is about 30 minutes. Like most smaller stations these days it lacks facilities, hence the four stars, although it currently has a ticket office.
Ticket office is mostly always closed, and when open someone's never there, or round the back doing something. Almost made me miss my train several times waiting for someone, until I eventually found the ticket machine that isn't signposted as outside the building
The staff are friendly, but giving 1 star to the rail network due to all of the strikes lately. Used to travel by train to Sutton Coldfield for shopping, but will now use my motorcycle instead. Well done union members for losing future custom...
This used to be my local station about 25 years ago. As we now live nearer to Blake Street, went for a walk to see if it had changed much. Didn't look any different - but did remind me how picturesque it is, with almost a country station feel.
The station is great but parking is never available. I arrived at the station at 7.45am and it was already full in both areas. The local streets are also full. This is a shame.
Fabulous little station. Note. the ticket office is not open all of the time that trains are running. Use the ticket machine
Nice station on the outskirts of Sutton …
Small train station, not much else to say.
