I have been coming to this location for about two years now. I commonly order donut and espresso shots over ice -- someday just the coffee. Recently I feel their signature quality has gone down unfortunately -- in the last 2 weeks my partner has gone down to get me a coffee and the price has changed everytime, usually being a total of $4 for 4 shots of *just* espresso, which is a normal price for around here. No one ever offers an explanation, they just blame various factors such as "that person must of been nice to you" or "I'll let it slide this one time" and as a longtime customer, I don’t really appreciate the tone these types of responses give off. Additionally to the coffee -- their donuts have been inconsistent for me as well. Today I got their White Chocolate Creme Brule donut and it was salty? I was vary confused and startled by HOW salty it was. I don't know understand if this was purposeful or not but it wasn't like the last one (same seasonal flavor) I ordered. I will continue to support, however I really hope for some more clear-cut pricing, consistency and some transparency from the staff.

Super super disappointed. Came from Seattle for Thanksgiving week and of course, it was either going to be Voodoo or Blue Star. I chose Blue Star as a first choice, came in with my girlfriend who's never been to Portland before since she moved in from another state. She was excited and all until unexpected happened. The donuts were flavorful and all but, I don't know if they wanted to be racist or what they wanted to do, I purchased a 4-donut dozen with 1. Original 2. Creme Brulee 3. Strawberry Shortcake 4. I forgot the 4th one. I opened the donut box on my way back home and noticed, they gave me three donuts with 1 flavor out from the order. I even gave them a 18% tip. Rude and a huge disappointment. Definitely ruined our trip.

We were so hyped to try Blue Star! We had heard amazing things and the expectations were high. Unfortunately, these just didn’t hold up to other options in the area. While the flavors aren’t terrible, for $50 a dozen (plus extra for their ‘premium’ options) we expected more. The dough base is the same for every donut, so really they just specialize in glazes. The dough base is dense and on the dry side. There were a few tasty moments, but all in all a lot of the combinations weren’t to our taste. Innovative, for sure, but not necessarily successful. My grandfather, who never turns a donut down, took one bite and then handed the donut backed and politely asked we never get one for him again. We will not be back. 1 star for the flavor plus an extra star for the really friendly and expedient service. The staff is awesome, unfortunately the flavor does not match the vibe.

I found out about Blue Star Donuts when researching things to eat in Portland. Blue Star came up. There was a location near our hotel, and we heard Voodoo Doughnuts was overrated (plus it's not located in a good area), so Blue Star was the clear option, and I'm really glad we got to try it. It might be the best donut I've ever eaten, and I'm not even really into donuts, or sweets for that matter. I had the Cointreau creme brûlée donut, which sounds like it would be super sweet but it was actually perfect. The custard inside was really good, and the caramelized sugar on the outside was just the right touch. My husband had the maple bacon donut, which he liked but I didn't really care for - but I also don't really like maple or cake doughnuts as they're too dense for me (the Cointreau one was yeast). Definitely recommend Blue Star and this location!

This is the donut shop you're looking for. Full stop. None of that "all the same bases, different toppings". None of that "loaded up a bunch of junk on top to get press, but nobody would want to eat it more than once, if even that many times". Each flavor seems a masterpiece that was designed from scratch. The sizes are substantial-- one is plenty satisfying. And they're not particularly expensive. It's not "$5 mini cupcakes, you need 3" here. $6.75 (tax incl) got me two substantial, delicious pieces that were more than I could eat in one sitting. It's a clean, beautiful space. Lots of seating. Chill staff. A variety of flavors, and looked like most or all were in stock late one afternoon (none of this "oh we're sold out by 2pm" I've run into in east-coast shops). This is literally the donut shop you've been fantasizing about. Or at least I have.

I love this place! I'm sad the Blue Star in downtown closed since I probably would've visited every day we were in town plus grab some to take home. We got the almond ganache, creme brulee, lemon lime custard, chocolate crunch and lemon poppy seed. My favorites were the lemon lime and the almond ganache. The lemon lime was the perfect tartness, not overly sweet like most places. The almond ganache was reminiscence of a Ferrero Rocher. Creme brulee was good but I felt like the sugar crust was a bit too thick. I would've preferred a custard filled donut without the sugar crust. The chocolate crunch was my 3rd favorite, full of dark chocolate flavor. Lemon poppy seed is a cake donut and reminded me of a muffin, definitely need some coffee with that. I also ordered a Nitro Chai which I enjoyed but unsure if I would pair it with donuts again.

Hands down, one of the best donut shops Portland has to offer!!!! The people are super friendly. The donuts are temporary heaven. They also have liquor infused donuts. It's one of my new favorite spots for sure, and it will become one of yours as well.

Adult style donuts…but only a tiny portion of adults are rich enough to afford them! $5 per donut and $7 for a coffee…$27 for 4 donuts and a coffee, and that’s before tip! They don’t have prices displayed for a reason, any reasonable person would turn around and walk out. THAT SAID, the donuts were really good! Edit: TBH, I spent a month in Portland to consider it as a place to live. Anytime I talk about Portland with anyone, I talk about this store and this experience as a big factor why Portland is not the place for me. Edit 2: This place is still haunting me. I had a dream that I went to a biscuit place that looked exactly like Blue Star Donuts and was charged $108 for 2 biscuits.

OMG this is heavenly sweets that I make my family go way out of the way to get! I have traveled from as far as Texas and walked over a mile to get a scrumptious donut! I have tried donuts from all over and nothing compares!! That other novelty famous donut place has nothing on these! I wish Blue Star was in every state so everyone could enjoy the piece of heaven they offer your taste buds!! I certainly have to acknowledge the staff too..they are always happy, friendly, amazing people! Today they gifted me a small holiday blessing that helped restore my faith in humanity after a really rough patch.. thank you! May each of you be blessed ten fold through the years!!

First time visiting Portland, Oregon Blue Star Donuts was mentioned as a place to visit if you enjoy donuts . On the show case window of donuts, non-traditional flavors …yummy! I’ve ordered the Apple Cider Fritter (perfect amount of apples to every bite), Buttermilk Old Fashion donut (perfect amount of sweetness with the glazed…vanilla/caramel flavor) and a cup of regular coffee. The atmosphere is inviting, clean and bright. Customer service was on point… friendly with a smile , didn’t feel rush since it was my first time. Whenever you’re in Portland, Blue Star Donuts is the place to visit for your morning breakfast, afternoon treat or just because

I definitely like VooDoo donuts and would consider them the closest competitor. Where I think their approach to donuts is more experimental, adventurous, and try things even if the results are mixed bag, Blue Star Donuts seem to be intentional about flavors, textures, and presentation. We got the chocolate bergamot buttermilk donut which somehow was perfectly crisp on the outside edges and the buttermilk cake was crumbly and felt like it was too classy for a donut, LOL! The tropical donut had toasted coconut and also had a very balanced and not too sweet flavor. I think this is officially my favorite donut spot of all time! Service was also great.

I have had so many wonderful experiences with visiting this location, as I live nearby and have visited regularly since they opened. The staff are extremely friendly and genuinely seem to enjoy working here. One time, I came in and the one of the baking staff was joyfully singing along to the music that was playing. The staff’s enthusiasm and care for what they do really shows in their interactions with customers and the quality of their product. This place never fails to make me smile and I would highly recommend a visit. Make sure to go early though, their donuts go fast every day and they tend to close early as a result!

I was recommended by my friend to try Blue Star donuts and I'm glad I came. Very unique flavours, moist and fresh. Buttermilk Old Fashioned - had a nice crispy outter and soft inside. Blueberry Bourban Basil Brioche - very unique flavour Lemon Lime Curd - Very citrusy The OG (horchata) Brioche - Last but not least, The Cointreau Creme Brulee - this was THE BEST out of the all the ones we bought. The top had a nice crispy caramelized sugar, just like how a creme brulee would have, and the center has a super creamy custard filling. I would come back just to eat the Cointreau Creme Brule donut for sure!

1000 stars out of 5. I typically don’t do gourmet/dressed up donuts because they’re usually way over the top with icing and fruity pebbles. However, blue star donut does it right down from the donut to the little crunchies on top. Nothing is over the top sweet, May be a bit, but it’s not overwhelming. My favorite has got to be the blueberry bourbon basil donut. It’s nothing like I’ve ever had before. It’s totally unique. The crème brûlée is a close second, with the chocolate almond ganache following. The chocolate icing here is so smooth and again not overwhelmingly sweet.

Do not support this company, it treats its employees terribly. Didn’t even pay them time and a half on LABOR DAY, no other bonus pay for any national holidays either. Poor internal management and communication. Employees being terminated and taken off schedules without even being notified. I overheard all of this in a single visit, from two employees chatting. Businesses like this disgust me, they have locations all over town.

First time trying Blue Star Donuts, was my last day and had to make the stop before leaving. I have never been a fan of cake donuts but the orange olive oil donut was amazing! The best cake donut I ever had hope this flavor stays I’ll have to get one next time I come back! I also tried the blueberry bourbon basil, chocolate Valrhona crunch, and the cherry brûlée. The blueberry one was pretty good, the chocolate Valrhona glaze was so good but could of used more filling, and the creme brûlée topping I found too salty when I was expecting sweet.

  • Hubert Schwarthoff

Fancy donuts! Airy industrial space where you can watch the 25 pound bags of sugar being brought in. Interesting glazes are fairly successful, which isn't easy for something that's just on the surface of a standard base. The presentation is definitely upscale, along with the prices. But don't let that deter you. Try different varieties. E.g. the lemon filling is better than elsewhere since it's got great tartness. Seats are not particularly comfortable, maybe part of the deal as you're not supposed to stay long. You can come back anytime.

  • Eddy Cuisinier

When looking for donuts while in Portland, this should be at the top of your list. The place is very well located in the heart of downtown and, once inside, offers a very welcoming vibe. A couple of things to keep in mind: - The line is slow to move making it tough to have a quick visit, if there are already a good amount of people waiting in line. - The prices are very high. Expect to pay around $4 to $5 per donut. Having said this, the donuts are amazing and bursting with flavors. This is definitely worth an occasional splurge.

  • Doug Fischer

These donuts were ok. A few locals had said to us that Voodoo was a tourist trap, and we had to try Blue star instead. Of the three donut shops we tried (Voodoo, Delicious Donuts, and Blue Star), this was our least favorite. The flavor of the donuts was good, but the texture wasn't -- they were cold, slightly harder texture with a very thick, bready feel. My ideal donut is essentially the opposite, warm and soft/doughy/fluffy. I guess it's a matter of preference, but I wasn't impressed and probably wouldn't go back.

  • Aspen Warden

These were the best donuts I’ve ever had. Someone tipped me off that blue star was the best in Portland and I have to say… they might be right. I asked for the best two they had and was given a tangerine something and a blueberry bourbon something. (Sorry I couldn’t give you the exact names ) but I always recommend asking for their best because it never disappoints. Was expecting weird flavor combinations, but I was so impressed. These donuts are a work of art. (Also bonus, they had kombucha too!)

  • Han SJ

Used to have good donuts, but not anymore. I have been to couple locations of blue star donuts including one in LA and liked its relatively healthy taste. However, this location’s O.G. tastes too sweet now, (actually it was shockingly sweet as I know what it’s supposed to taste like) and soggy. I’ve been to this location and gifted couple of times to my friends in the past because I really liked the donuts here, but now it tastes completely different. Something definitely happened to the quality here.

  • River Gillis

Amazing donuts and friendly staff. We didn’t have a lot of options to pick from by the time we got there, but the ones we got were very yummy. Soft and delicious. I wish I could get smaller versions so that I could try out more flavors! I wonder if showing up earlier would mean fresher donuts that look closer to the images that they post on their social media. The show-kitchen seemed a little strange. Like you’re not serving alcohol and you surely aren’t using that stand mixer, turn it into seating!

  • Shayla Smith

We knew we had to try this as it was listed on every Portland list, and wow it delivered. We got for different flavors and each was so unique and delicious. I don’t think you can go wrong with flavors! Incredibly kind service. Plenty of room to sit and enjoy and in a sunny environment!

Sorry, can't rate this higher. 5 bucks a donut!? They taste like donuts, not gold. Service is super slow. And who the heck puts rosemary in a donut? That's not a grownup donut, it's a prissy, "we wanna pretend to be fancy" donut. Is it worth 5 bucks? Nope. Tastes like any other cake donut out there. If you did a blind taste test, you wouldn't be able to tell a blue star old fashion from any other old fashion. I'd say save your money and just buy the cheap donuts you like.

  • Diane Hoang

First time trying this place as I heard it is novelty in Oregon but then found out that there is la locations closer to me. Made out of brioche bread so it's not as sweet as a regular donut. I dont like my donuts too sweet but this taste more like a pastry than eating a savory donut. The key lime flavor out of the 3 donuts that I tried was probably my favorite. Overall it is quality donuts but not worth the price I paid for. Alot more than a traditional donut prices.

  • Robbie Boyd

Have loved Blue Star for years, they have a very unique vegan donut base... It's cake (vs the typical yeast) but it's still quite light and fluffy with a perfect sweetness. Recommend the orange olive oil or passion fruit of the vegan options. They used to always have the blueberry bourbon as a vegan standard (which was my favorite) but I haven't been able to find it in a while. Stores are bright and clean, service is always pleasant. Options to sit outside or inside.

  • Darcy Caba Pier

If you want a really good donut, go to Blue Star. We tried the Apple Cider Fritter, Apricot Sufganiyot, and Buttermilk Old Fashioned. Each donut was delicious, but it was the buttermilk old fashioned that really blew our taste buds. Most cake donuts I've had are too dense, too chewy. This one had a light crunch when you bit into it, and was still a bit fluffy. The glaze on it was sweet, but not sickly sweet. Everything about the donut was absolute perfection.

  • Margarita Tejeda

Skip VOODOO and come here! We went to Voodoo the first time we were in Portland because I'm obsessed with the Food Network and it was there where I first saw it. BUT I have to say these are far better, not greasy, super flavorful and not super sweet. Light, airy and a punch of flavor to the face. Pro Tip: you might want to come early because once the sell out of a flavor THEY ARE OUT. Hence their QUALITY VS QUANTITY disclaimer.

  • Samantha Ching

Finally returned to Blue Star after trying it on my last trip to PDX 7 years ago! The passionfruit with cacao nibs was as good as I remember—light and fluffy with tangy icing and a crunch from the nibs. Non-caffeinated strawberry sparkling iced tea to wash it down; not too sweet and refreshing on that hot afternoon after a trip to the Saturday market. This location is bright and airy with a big long table and plenty of seating.

  • Ricardo Seah

Pretty good donut spot and a good place to have on the list if you are visiting Portland. The donuts available are unique and really good quality. The space is also really well laid out and the design and feel of the space is great. Recommend getting one of everything to share with friends so you get to try a variety of flavours. There are also tables in the space if you choose to eat in instead of taking the donuts to go.

  • Hailey M

First time visit. Ordered 3 donuts in total. Only ended up enjoying the Buttermilk Old Fashioned- that flavor WAS worth it. The others were just too sweet and overpowering. You may enjoy these donuts if you like elevated/fancier flavors. The friendly staff and ample inside seating was an upside.

Yumm! Gave Blue Star a shot since locals say this place is it for donuts and we weren't disappointed. We had the Apple fritter and lemon poppy seed donuts and they were both delicious. We took the donuts to go but the location was big, bright, and clean. We tried voodoo donuts the day before and were a bit let down by the hype. We'd choose Blue Star any day. In fact we'll look for it at the airport on the way out!

  • Ali Bader

Definitely the best donuts I've had in a VERY long time (and I stopped at several different places during my recent trip to Portland). I ordered the Meyer Lemon filled one. SO GOOD. I'm planning to go back again before I leave for the airport to try some other ones. The flavors are definitely geared towards adult taste buds, but in a very good way. More complex on the flavor combos

  • David Odom

Was our first time visiting but came highly recommended. They have a variety of primarily cake style but also some filled. As their slogan states, they have adult flavor combinations as well as a few standard for those classics. They were friendly, and when there was a small issue with the order they quickly made it right. Will definitely stop the next time we are in Portland.

  • momo

I am so happy Blue Star brought the Orange Olive Oil back. This is the best thing and worth a trip down to Portland. Please don't ever take this away again. It's the best thing since sliced bread. Guy behind the counter was super funny and very nice. I like this location better since they open later and there are plenty of doughnuts in stock as well. Parking is easier here.

  • Cecilia Knapp

They call them donuts for grown-ups and they're delicious. Love the variety and unusual flavors. Last year they had a kick ass matcha donut that sadly was not in the rotation for this year's visit. All the ones we've tried have been awesome. There seems to be a line whenever we pass by but it's worth the wait. And I stop by the airport location to bring some gifts home too.

  • Brennan Lim

Unique flavors and fluffy donuts! My favorites were the blueberry bourbon basil and strawberry champagne pie since they were just the right amount of sweetness without being too heavy.

The donuts are a bit more cake like in texture. They have some really unusual flavors. The coffee is fine. 2 donuts, a tea and a coffee was $16 which was above average pricing. They seem to really lean into the 'premium' experience. This location is attached to a main office/bakery/distribution centre. The storefront is long and narrow and has plenty of window seating.

  • Maulsri Jha

This was really the donut experience I was waiting for. All the bases are prepared carefully and thoughtfully, with a wide variety for customers. The toppings and glazes are unique, different from the usual run-of-the-mill flavors. My favourites are the apple fritter, blueberry glazed and the cinnamon sugar - all classics. A must visit if you in the Portland area.

  • Ramya Ananth

Don't go with an assumption that you're gonna get buzzed. :P Flavorful donuts with a touch of buzz. This is what blue star donuts is! I know a million people told you about Voodoo donuts but it's def time to check out such local places. I absolutely loved their orange liqueur and blueberry donuts. Not too sweet that you want to give up after a few bites!

  • Alexandra Anderson

Great vegan donut options! The orange olive oil and tropical delight are 2 that tend to be available year-round. Both are excellent, high-quality donuts. I also recently tried the seasonal vegan option, apple brandy crumble. I think I actually liked it even better than the “usuals”! I’ve also had several non-vegan donuts here and they’re all fantastic.

  • Murphy Brasco-Kitchell

Life changing donuts. This buttermilk old fashioned is now the gold standard that I will measure every other classic donut against, and all of the sophisticated modern flavors we tried were equally amazing. Passionfruit cacao nib, blueberry basil bourbon, creme brulee, all 4 donuts go in my lifetime top 5, and I don't even know what else comes close.

  • Mike M

The line was pretty long when we arrived but it took only about 10 minutes to get through. For 6 donuts the cost came to $23 dollars. I thoroughly enjoyed the apple cider donut the most. The creme brulee donut was interesting but it was a bit difficult to add the orange syrup. I would have preferred an adult version of this with an orange liqueur.

  • Keith B

The service was fantastic! Very kind people making interesting donuts easy to eat. I enjoyed these donuts despite being somewhat of a donut purist. They are pricey, but if you go in expecting that, then you can enjoy their quality ingredients.

Blue Star? More like Gold Star!! Absolutely love these donuts. I bring them in for my team for special celebrations and they all rave over the deliciousness. The team here is here is kind and friendly. Nothing more than welcoming. I always let them pick a donut flavor to try and trust me… they have great suggestions.

  • Amy Jo Trager

Our Uber driver recommended we try Blue Star for "adult style" doughnuts. We tried several and the favorites were Berg Chocolate and Raspberry Rosemary. They were about $5 each. This location offered bathrooms and a water station and was close to a MAX location, so easy to get to. The interior was bright and clean.

  • Mayank Gondnale

Was suggested by multiple friends to try these out instead of the other more famous local chain. Very glad I did. Creative and very tasty flavors. All (or most) of their donuts are brioches. Tried Chocolate Almond Ganache, Haupia Coconut Cream, Raspberry-Rosemary Old fashioned and Creme Brûlée. Haupia was the best!

  • Vern Jensen

Best donuts my wife and I have ever had. Well worth the $5 price. A bit heavy if you eat more than one, but still soooo good. We tried the raspberry old fashioned, the poppy seed old fashioned, and a tropical coconut something-or-other. The tropical coconut one was our favorite, with the raspberry coming in 2nd.

  • Kathryn Esham

Portland seems to be strung together with donut shops and chance meetings. Obviously, missing out on Blue Star would be a sin. There isn’t a boring feature about the product; shape, texture, flavor, presentation- all are unique. Get whatever looks good in the moment because it’s not going to let you down.

  • Keith Lowry (Krypto Keith)

Our second donut shop stop. 1st one was Voodoo. Both are really good, but with very different vibes. I would check out both if I were you! Pro Tip: Blue Star sells out of their most popular donuts (like creme brulee) early. Sometimes as early as 9/10am, so if you want a specific flavor get there early.

  • Brian S

Absolutely offensively overpriced. $5+ for a mediocre donut. The icing on the lemon poppyseed was good but the donut was oily and a bit stale. $24 for a large regular coffee, 2 donuts, and a medium matcha is robbery. I would never come here again. It's getting 2 stars only because the icing was decent

  • Adam Morgan

Trendy little donut shop. Clean and well lit. Friendly staff who were very quick. The donuts were tasty and just the perfect density. Not a huge variety of flavors but good enough and they make well what they offer. Drinks are limited to hot/cold coffee and water. A bit pricy for my personal taste.

  • Eric Steadman

Recommend by multiple friends who vouched it was better than Voodoo Doughnuts. It was really good. The options looked interesting, so I'll definitely be going back to try the other options. It's also very close to the Goose Hollow/Jefferson MAX station, so it's good for a quick break in a commute.

  • T. Farris

Great donuts here at BlueStar. We went late afternoon / early evening and had donuts. There were just small donut selection left. But the chocolate buttermilk and the cinnamon sugar ones were excellent. City Center Portland location therefore parking is tuff. We parked 3 blocks away and walked.

  • Tina P.

The staff was very friendly. We ordered a half dozen doughnuts. The cake doughnuts had the best texture and flavors. The chocolate bergamot old fashion and apple brandy crumble were amazing! Chocolate ganache was a little too rich for my taste. Overall great doughnuts and worth the price!

  • Amanda Thomas

The flavors and quality of the donuts here are quite incredible. The line is a lot shorter than other donut locations in the area, and honestly you would be hard-pressed to find better flavors. Definitely make this a stop on your list if you're visiting the area! You will not regret it.

  • Paul V

The donuts were out of control good. Super funky & unique flavors and I honestly liked every variety I tried. I'd have to say I'm a sucker for a good old fashioned style donut. Their buttermilk old fashioned was my favorite. Must check this place out if you want amazing donuts

  • nikki ganata

Very unique place to get donuts. Not overly sweet ( makes it somewhat guilt free). I do have to say, it's not a place to bring little kids to grab a donut. The flavors are more for adults. Like my favorite mexican donut (spicy chocolate donut). It's what keeps me coming back.

  • Ric Listella

Blue Star Donuts, on the way to today's Timbers Game. Our first time to Blue Star Donuts and we will be back. Great selection, hot and robust coffee, long line to order but it went very fast. A testament to how Blue Star Donuts are loved! Don't miss Blue Star Donuts!

  • Ed Hunt

The best donuts in Portland. More culinary that cutsie, you won't find breakfast cereal bits on this baked goods. The service is smiling and great. The line moves quick and the donuts are always fresh. Coffee is ordered by saying "coffee" -- then you get it yourself.

  • Vegan Space

Never been to place where vegan donuts tasted better than their non vegan counterparts. Portland can definitely do donuts right, unlike Asian and Mexican food lol. Anyways very impressed with their donuts especially the orange flavored one with white powdered sugar.

  • Rachel Ludwig

While some of our favorite flavors were sold out due to the end of the day, we thoroughly enjoyed the ones we got. The Bourbon Blueberry Basil was a favorite along with the Maple Bacon. Next visit we really want to try the Creme Brûlée and the passion fruit flavors!

  • Anjyl Nguyen

These are donuts for adults. If you want donuts covered in cereal and sprinkles this is not the place but if you need a Bourbon Blueberry Basil donut or a Creme Brulee to make your morning not just good but spectacular go here. For average donuts go elsewhere.

  • MakandWalk

These donuts are FIRE!!! Such delicious, unique flavors. The service here was great as well, very patient with me making my donut choices and explained a lot about the flavors. Other than the parking being tough, this location was great as well! 10/10 donuts.

  • Nina Schwinghammer

Loved the og old fashioned. Tried the blueberry bourbon doughnut as well, I’ve never had anything like it- I wouldn’t get it again but it was good and a new taste experience! More than I normally pay for doughnuts but it’s good and so is the service.

  • Zac Yeow

A more pricey donut as compared to voodoo. The one at NorthWest is less crowded but smaller too, so they have lesser quantity than the one near burnside. As they promote, it is quality over quantity. I loved the blueberry bourbon, raspberry flavours.

  • Jeanette Sol Ols

I got the OG and the lemon poppy donut. Both were delicious. I especially loved the OG and will come back just for that. I got a matcha as well but it was just okay. Better matchas at other places but donuts were delicious. Will still come back.

  • Sy Bor Wong

A must visit if you're in Portland. I have been going to Blue Star for a few years now. It has always been consistently good. The flavours are unique and there is a fine attention to detail on the presentation. Not only does it look good,

  • Prita Das

Maybe we chose the wrong doughnut (passion fruit cacao) but this place didn't live up to the queue. The range of flavours was impressive but the actual doughnut was slightly stale and not as soft or doughy as a proper doughnut should be.

  • Paula Regan

Blue star donuts have some unique donut flavor creations, always fun to stop in and try one. My only complaint is the donuts themselves are not the best donuts around, dough is tough, like they overmix it during the creation process.

I thought everything was pretty standard. The key lime one had a nice smooth lime curd filling (but the dough is just dough- nothing special). If you like donuts and there’s no line, it’s not a bad idea to get one. Otherwise.......

Forget Voodoo and go here instead. The flavors that go into these donuts are wonderful. Whether you go with cake or their special brioche donuts you won’t be disappointed. Coffee with the donuts is solid. Will definitely return.

Really awesome donuts and coffee. You always hear about Voodoo, but Blue Star is the real deal. Super friendly staff and spacious cafe make it even better. The donut (Passion Fruit Cocoa Nib) was next level, you have to try it!

You guys….I’m not a donut person. Until today. The raspberry donut (pink one) has turned me into someone who likes donuts and doesn’t just look like one haha. I’m told by locals that this place is better than Voodoo donuts.

This place will change your life. Blue Star has turned the diner donut experience we all know and love into decedent and elevated experience. The donuts have unique flavors and some taste more like a cake or bread.

Really good doughnuts and unique flavors! Our favorites were the blueberry basil and the old fashioned lemon poppyseed. The staff was very friendly and kind even though they were having an incredibly busy morning.

Great cheerful service. Bergamot old fashioned donut and lemon poppy seed donut were excellent flavor. Iced Matcha and iced Americano were smooth and tasty.

The donuts were not all that great a bit dense. I did have the one with that little plastic thing ‍♀️ no idea the name of it. Not worth $4.50 each donut. The employees were really nice and helpful. …

The best donuts in Portland. We grab some every time we are visiting. They have a variety of unique flavours. I agree with other comments that they are expensive. Parking was hard to find at this location.

When I first visited Portland, I was kindly steered away from Voodoo by friends who cared about my time and experience. They told me about Blue Star, which I proceeded to visit 3 times in my 5 day stay.

Love the new location. Great atmosphere with plenty of window seating. The donuts are beyond Ordinary and melt in your mouth. Cold brew was also tasty. Highly recommend if you are in Portland.

Delicious donut shop! Not too sweet and really fun flavors (we had the Earl Grey Chocolate Old Fashioned and the Pumpkin Pecan Old Fashioned). Truly a donut for adults …

Interesting and creative donuts with delicious espresso drinks. The donuts ingredients, colors, and shapes are definitely better than their tastes. Still good donut though

This doughnut shop is by far the best you can have. Blue star is amazing. Soft, and perfectly made. Highly recommended for everyone to stop and enjoy.
