Reflective listening to the client is just as important as talent, and Sam has both in spades! My previous stylist of 8+ years opened her new salon too far away and I needed to find someone new. Cue the nerves. I called Bocz after googling “best haircuts in downtown Seattle.” They fit me in that day with Sam. Not only had I had the same stylist for so many years, a **guy** had never cut my hair. Cue more nerves. But I was assured Sam was great. Another reviewer referenced the staff as being down-to-earth. Yep! Very much so. Friendly, explain the changing robe/room situation to first-timers, and all-around helpful. The salon itself is bustling, but the chairs are separated out by little cube-like things. It’s in a beautiful vintage building on Sixth Avenue. I love it when places are equal parts upscale and down-to-earth. Love. My. Haircut. Sam took an hour-plus to listen, explain, and do a fabulous job. I don’t imagine it will take that long for future cuts, but it was obvious he was taking extra time and care to make sure I left happy. Super impressed, and grateful to find a new stylist 4-minutes’ walking distance from my office!

I've been coming to Bocz for years, and am always thrilled with the service. The new location is also gorgeous! Every single staff member there is kind, down - to - earth, eager to help, friendly, chatty, and personable. The cuts and coloring are second to none and Aldera (my personal savior) will wax you dolphin smooth. Don't be fooled by other waxing places - many will break the hair or burn the skin. Aldera doesn't. She's the best. Sure, Bocz isn't the cheapest haircut or wax job in the city, but with very good reason. You get what you pay for! I haven't been to their website in a while, but I believe the stylists' rates are based on their years of experience. I've been loyal to Megan for years, and she's amazing!! Once when she was out of town, I had Moyra cut my hair, and she was also fantastic. Every person I've talked to there has been professional and welcoming. Can't praise them enough. Try Bocz once and you'll be hooked, too!

I felt completely taken advantage of by Meg. I was told over the phone the trim and highlights I described I wanted were around 120. I also specifically showed Meg pictures of what I wanted. She ended up doing something that was completely different than what I asked for (balayage) and charged me 210$ for it. I requested a few peek-a-boo highlights and a trim. Although I ended up feeing okay about the hair, I was shocked at how much i was charged...for something I did not ask for. I think because I'm 17 she though that she could take advantage of me. I'm super disappointed at how I was taken for a ride and I will definitely not be returning. It's sad because I had such high hopes for this salon but walked out feeling completely robbed. I may be in high school but I know how much a subpar haircut should be. Anyone that takes advantage of a young girl should honestly not be working here. Shame on you Meg

I got my hair done there on Thursday for a concert later that night. I was over a half hour late to the appointment because I'm not from the city, and I was having a hard time figuring out where to park, and was worried I wouldn't have time for all I wanted to get done. I was VERY LUCKY enough to still be able to get done what I wanted and I am very pleased with the results. The cut and color are perfect, and I'm loving my new look! I forgot the name of my stylist because I am just very bad at remembering names, but to the lovely woman who took me from having shoulder length blonde hair with brown roots to a purple pixie cut thank you so much! I got so many compliments on my hair at the concert! So many people loved it, and I love it too. If I didn't have to go back to Oregon I'd keep going there to keep up maintenance on my hair. This salon does great hair but they also have THE BEST esthetician and waxer ever Aldera Bundy. I've been seeing her for brows for 8 years now and she has always kept me looking wonderful. Today I saw her for the first time for a brazilian bikini wax and she was INCREDIBLE!!! Not to mention I am 9 months pregnant and about to pop any day she made it about as painless as this kind of service can be. Her speed was unbelievable, I could not believe how quickly we were done, it was SO much better than other bikini waxes I have had in the past, which is part of why I was scared to do it again. It was AMAZING!!! If you've ever wanted to get waxed and have been scared go see Aldera, she will make you feel comfortable and she is lightening fast and very attentive to what she is doing! Cannot praise her enough!

Once I moved to Seattle I spent a great deal of time finding the perfect salon -- because I am picky. And I can confidently say I will not be switching to anyone else. With Alderra for waxing, she spent time reshaping my brows, letting them grow out where needed, and spending time finding the perfect shape for me, and now when I leave from her services my brows look the best that they ever have! And Tim for my hair, I trust him completely with his advice and input. He knows exactly what would be right for my my hair-type and style. And my hair is complicated to manage, curly, long, needs a natural hair-dye blend. I would not trust anyone else in this city with my hair, I always leave w/ hair looking the best that it ever has been.

I'm pretty terrible at saying what I want for my hair, but all the stylists who have had me on their chair have been welcoming, open-minded, and friendly. The last time I had my hair cut there (about a week and a half ago) I mentioned very briefly that I'm transmasc., and the energy of the gentleman cutting my hair immediately swiveled to make sure that I was okay with the cut I was getting that day. Just honestly a great place with great people providing amazing services. Each time I've paid a visit it's been a bill over 70USD. Worth it each time, honestly.

Well, don’t get me started, but $90 for a haircut with an appointment is a bit much for my Wallet to comprehend. It wasn’t my only option while seeking to get a simple haircut at this really nice salon. My other option was a haircut with some special attention by one of the master stylists which would run me $225. What happened to the days of just getting a simple $10 or $20 haircut? Sleepy in Seattle? Not in the downtown area that’s for sure. If you are in need of a haircut head over to the University area where you’ll find that $18 haircut.

I was in town with my husband while he attended a conference and I decided to get my roots done (I'm blonde). They took walk ins and I worked with Danielle. She was great and my color turned out fantastic. The price was reasonable and the customer service at the front desk was friendly and helpful. They knew I was not local and probably wouldn't be a repeat customer, yet they treated me like someone who they wanted at a regular. I was very impressed and very pleased. I would absolutely go back. I was traveling and needed a haircut. I called and Olivia had an opening. Olivia was fantastic, friendly, and talkative. My hair isn't easy to get right (fine and straight) but she did an excellent job. The price was $65 which I knew going into the cut. For anyone who is a tourist like me, that's typical of the downtown area and is what it is. I could never afford that on a regular basis but it was worth it in a pinch.

I've struggled to find a consistently reliable colorist, and I can say with absolute certainty that I've found that person here at Bocz Salon. Carter Rene is amazing--she listens carefully to what you're looking for, and will talk through exactly what she thinks will work (and will find photo examples if you didn't bring any to your appointment). In the end, my color always looks great.

Aldera Bundy is a brow artist! I’ve been seeing her once a month x six years for a brow wax/tint, and each time I’m wowed by what a beautiful job she does. I also get a lip/chin wax every month. Aldera is gentle, but meticulous, and I leave the salon feeling pampered and smooth. She also offers facials, body waxing, etc., and she’s delightful! I highly recommend Aldera at Bocz.

Danielle is fabulous! She has mad skills and her color and cuts are amazing. After five minutes you feel like you've known her since grade school. The salon is modern but not kitschy and the front staff is friendly and welcoming. As a bonus it's located about 1/2 block from Nordstrom. My friends and co-workers always compliment me and many now go to Danielle too.

They got me in as a walk in on a Thursday late morning. Stylist was Danny. Totally changed my hairstyle and gave me the exact cut I was looking for despite not having a picture of it. Friendly and enjoyable to talk to during the cut! Nice facility. $160 for my cut which is high, but was very worth it for his level of skill! Would highly recommend!

Had a great experience. I tend to have haircut-anxiety due to bad experiences in the past, But Emily was super nice and put me well at ease. She was amazing at telling me what she thought and explaining my options. My appointment didn't feel rushed at all, and the overall atmosphere was very relaxed. I will definitely be coming back.

From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by all at the reception desk. The coffee is always on, there are comfortable chairs in the waiting area and even a vanity mirror and area to prep before you leave. All of the work I see done by the stylists look great. My stylist Tony colors my hair so well strangers compliment me.

Julianna is the best sylist! She is so good at balayage. my hair cuts and color ALWAYS look fabulous. she really helps me know how to do my own hair and recommends some products that i can use. i have been using her for 5 years now and i wont let anyone else touch my hair. always going back to her.

I live out of state and was in town for work and badly needing a hair cut. I'm super particular when it comes to my hair so I was hesitant to try anyone outside my normal gal back home. Danielle did an amazing job! She gave me exactly what I needed and is so sweet. Highly recommend her!

Aldera always does a fabulous job with my brows. She manages to make them look great with my mask on on off, which sadly hasn't been the case everywhere I've been. Everyone I've met there has been quite nice, would definitely recommend!

Marc is absolutely A1 tops colorist in Seattle. He previously worked in California and learned his techniques from the best and it shows. Very affable, intelligent and obviously great artist. He's also quick! The best!

This place is fancy. I came in for a trim during my lunch break on a casual Friday and I felt underdressed in my sneakers. That being said, the customer service here is phenomenal. I would highly recommend.

My stylist, Shelina, is wonderful. I would never let anyone else touch my hair. I have referred a couple friends to Shelina with extremely different hair than mine and they have both been happy.
