This is not the first time that’s happened but it happened again so here’s my experience. I ordered a drink and did not tip. The first time around when I didn’t tip, my drink took an awful long time for them to make. It didn’t bother me that much and it was the first time happening so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Or maybe it’s just how they like to react from seeing a lack of tip. The second time around, maybe months later when I didn’t tip, I ordered one drink to go. The numbers of readied orders were going above my number so I thought they were serving customers that actually tipped first. It turned out they didn’t even have my order, that they most likely threw it away from lack of tip? I was still polite despite how agitated I was. The drink turned out bland, way too watered down so I wanted to get a refund. They took their sweet time to look for the receipt and when trying to proceed my refund a female cashier asked me to insert the card into the machine. When inserting my card it will prompt me to enter my passcode which wastes a bit more of my time. I had all the time so that’s why I stayed to get the refund. She just wanted to waste my time to satisfy her ego so she told me I couldn’t tap and insisted that I insert my card. She covered the tap part of the machine from preventing me to tap but since it’s portable I took the machine from her and proceeded to tap, which not to my surprise worked conveniently. I would have given everything the benefit of the doubt but when she showed that she wanted to waste my time repeatedly just because I didn’t tip, here’s the story for anyone who is interested to know what they’re really about. Somehow I have a feeling that it hasn’t happened to only me. Does breka give conditional service based on tip or no tip? Is this the foundation of Breka’s customer service?

Was coming back from Burnaby Lake and wanted a snack so stopped at the original Breka Bakery location. I didn't know that they had full sandwiches and such. The Apple Strudel looked good and at a nice price. Very friendly and helpful staff at this location. We asked them to cut it into four pieces which they were happy to do. Back in the car, we found the four pieces were actually generous so we ate half a piece and brought the rest home. Good pastry, tasty filling equals delicious simplicity. We will definitely come back to try more of their strudels and tortes, and also their bread. Visited again on Saturday for the Challah and pretzels. The Challah is only on Fridays but they did have day old loaves so I got that. Also got an almond cookie. The cookie was delicious-just like a chocolate covered marzipan bar but better. Covered in sliced almonds it was crispy and chocolatey on the outside and moist on the inside. Really tasty. I will buy these again. The pretzel had a nice thin skin and just a bit of salt. Properly chewy, great with honey and mustard. The Challah was fine. Sliced thick, toasted, with some butter, it was just a bit eggy and sweet. Still pulled apart nicely. Daniel

The cashier was so rude. Here's an update so you know who I was talking about: On December 3rd, 2023, between 9:05 and 9:10 am, there was a long line, and no one seemed to have decided what they wanted yet. The male cashier yelled 'next.' I waited for 5-10 seconds, then proceeded to come over since I just wanted a coffee. He looked at me weirdly and made sure everyone heard, 'Sir, please wait in line.' Like, do you have comprehension issues? People were still literally deciding. I've always felt bad for these minimum wage workers and tipped generously, even on takeout, but I guess it's over. You can even check my name on your delivery apps to see how often I order here. I'm not entitled or anything, but the fact that he tried to humiliate me publicly makes me describe this in detail.

Where else are you gonna find a quality legit cake, pastry, sandwich, donut, and all in one Cafe and boulangerie that is open 24/7? I was literally able to have a fresh, creamy, strawberry shortcake at 1am. It was fluffy with perfectly whipped cream. They even sell fritatas and chicken pot pies! The chocolate custard donut was just average and comparable to a Boston cream in taste and quality at Tim Hortons, but the cakes are well made and well packaged. This place stands out because they take time out of the factor as a limitation so you can have access to quality fancy cravings 24/7 opposed to going to fast food chains. It's literally like the Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe at Disneyland but open 24/7 :)

Their lineups are so confusing and disorganized. I was literally at the front of the line ready to order an iced mocha and the cashier kept looking through me and letting someone else from the sidelin order first. It was weird and creepy lol - how she just kept looking through me like I didn't even exist or was invisible. So apparently therr are 2 lines. The first one straight towards the counter (the one I was in front of) is for those who ordered online or are ready to order - which I was. The other line goes from the right side along the bakeries glass display for those who are still choosing what they want.

Consistently good, I've tried so many of their items over the years. I particularly loved the caramel praline for its various textures and flavours! The strawberry shortcake was nice and light, and the red velvet was creamy but not too heavy and I liked the chocolate bits they add in the middle that give it texture. Their tiramisu was also good and light but I think mine had too much cocoa powder on top.

Quite busy throughout the day. Workers dont seem happy to serve customers (not all of them, but enough to notice) when it gets busy but that shouldn’t be the case. Really slow service which I understand during rushes, but this accompanied with rude customer service does not deserve positive ratings. Also do not bring your dogs/ pets into the store because they were impatient and came off as rude when my dog was asked to leave. Other than that, the food is really, really good but it’s a shame that the service is not on the same par.

Unfortunately haven't had the chance of visiting this Breka branch personally but have ordered several times through Uber Eats and plan to continue doing so! So far we've enjoyed donuts, muffins, cake and babka's! The babka is incredibly rich and delicious, though we've not really tasted any walnut as it states in the description. The carrot walnut muffin and the chocolate banana pudding loaf were both very moist and delicious. The only reason for 4 stars is the London Fog donut was so sugary and sweet it didn't really have a flavour and hurt our teeth.

  • Michelle Hillock

EDIT: Added more info about their savoury foods which they can kindly warm up for you. Their blueberry scone is delicious too. I've tried almost all their doughnuts and ~2 types of cakes. Ive ordered the white chocolate cake for a bday once. In general it's pretty good. Doughnuts are better than Tim's but maybe not as well crafted as some other brioche doughnut bakeries. Still would come in for a doughnut and coffee/drink and appreciate your work. They're open extremely late for a cafe/bakery though!!! (: And they're available on mobile order/delivery apps.

Wowi! A 24/7 cafe is a dream come true when visiting Vancouver. This place was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. It’s constantly busy, but goes by quick. They have a huge selection of items.. not too many veggie options for breakfast, but there were a few that I got to try. Their lattes are amazing! I tried the pumpkin spice and the oat latte and loved them. Went there twice in my one week stay and I’d definitely go again and again. Such great service, great menu and great opening hours! It’s a must try if you’re in Vancouver!

  • Victoria “Moofius” Pumphrey

Excellent baked goods! They have bread to take home, along with some really fantastic food for here or to go. Came here because of the donut recommendation and was not dissapointed! They cost more than a Timmies donut, but the quality more than makes up for the price difference! They have a few small tables here, making for a pretty initimate setting. The music and other patrons drown out neighbours while still leaving ample space to chat and catch up with a friend. Not an ideal setting if you want to sit with a group larger than 3 though!

The missus and I love this Breka location. It's our go to coffee "joint" as we think they make the best coffee in town. Today, we enjoyed our usual carrot walnut muffin and cheese scone along with our coffees. In the past, we have tried the breads, donuts, cakes and sandwiches. All scrumptious! Their apple fritters must be on steroids as they are the biggest I've seen. Delicious and a must try! Day old bread at 50% off is also a great deal. The staff are very helpful and efficient in processing the customers thru the lineup.

  • zo

Love Breka usually but wasn’t happy about my experience tonight. Ordered a large London fog and asked for an extra tea bag in it. The employee said there’s no way to do that other than to charge me for another entire drink. Most places will use two tea bags for a large tea because obviously the drink will be watered down OR charge for an extra tea bag. For a $6 drink, I had to come home and add my own tea bag, otherwise I was drinking sugary hot milk. Either the employee was misinformed or Breka has a ridiculous policy.

I've been to a few Breka Bakery cafes over the last few years but it was my first time visiting this branch. I picked up a slice of the red velvet cake and much to my surprise it had chunks of chocolate in it. I've had a lot of red velvet cake but not one with chocolate inside so this was a first for me. Have to say I quite like it.

Been ordering here for a while. Some of their baked goods are surprisingly good for a franchised business. However, service is inconsistent. Today, for example, staff were taking orders from people who just walked in, ahead of others who had been waiting further up in line. No apology or attempt to correct when this mistake was pointed out to them. A number of people in line understandably walked out. They'd get a higher rating from me if they could correct such service issues.

  • K

Such an excellent cafe! The atmosphere is nice and the quality of the items are incredible! The London fog doughnut was so good and the doughnut itself had a fluffy and chewy texture. You could definitely taste the London fog flavour in the icing. We’ll definitely be coming back for the price and quality of the items! The only con was the bathroom… it looked like it had not been cleaned in awhile and a lot of people were disturbed when they came out of it…

  • Ayesha S.

It was very busy. I understand it was friday night, but it was too overwhelming and loud for me. There was a long line behind me but i wanted to know which ones were vegan and liquor free. The server had to repeat it 3 times because it was so loud. One recomendation that I would make is to have labels of Gluten free (GF) Liqour free,(LF) peanut free (PF) or vegitarian (V) on each item so that way it would make the process easier for the customer. Thanks.

This place is open 24 hours a day - sometimes there is even a bit of a lineup at 2 in the morning. It can get crowded during the day and the tables and chairs and wearing a little. Baked goods range from OK to great (black forest cake, cherry strudel). They are on the pricey side but sometimes they have day old strudel or torte slices for a dollar. Some servers are nice but others can be indifferent or bordering on rude. Overall 3.5 stars.

breka is great but this location is TRASH the doors open inward to an already tight space it makes it feel like i’m busting into my parents bedroom while their having private time, i hit someone with the door everytime. it’s so packed and the drinks come out quick but the food takes 20 minutes to prep i’m left standing ontop of the garbage waiting. i like breka but not this location

Wow! What a friendly bunch of people working at this bakery at 8:45 on a Friday night! Our service was exceptional! This is a delightful bakery! This is the second Breka that I have been to and I am blown away with their huge selection of cakes, cream puffs and pastries! Everything I have tasted has been so flavourful! They have a great Covid protocol in effect! You should definitely check this wonderful bakery out!!

Always such a joy to come here! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, to-go or dine-in this place has something for everyone We had the croissant ham & cheese sandwich and their Reuben. They include a pickle which is a nice touch! Their lavender latte and classic mocha were very tasty - full bodied and served freshly brewed. Service was swift, accurate and courteous. Whether you want something basic or fancy, they have it

Honestly so sad they ruined my favourite sandwich, the steak and cheese. Please bring back the panini press and get rid of the terrible new ovens. The new ovens make the mushrooms undercooked and steak cold and the bread is dry as a bone. Thank you from a steak and cheese lover.

Their staff and the pastries are always on point. I know I'm not a fan of cheesecakes, but they totally changed my thoughts about cheesecakes when my sister got me one from that exact location. I went there the other day and they are welcoming and quite fast. I didn't have to wait too long for my things. Even though the line was long (which you know is worth it) it was worth the wait. They were delicious!

  • Meesh

Went today to get some desserts. The staff were friendly and super efficient. The lineup moved fast and we were helped quickly. My partner got donuts and I got cake--all yummy. They said since we spent over $20, we could get any loaf of bread for free (except banana bread) so we got a loaf of rye :) That might be a limited time offer though, I didn't pay too much attention. Overall a happy experience.

  • This food

This is my go to for any cakes! A must for dessert. A variety of cakes, doughnuts, sandwiches, cookies, and beverages. The sweets are endless. It’s a vinous that they’re 24 hrs so those craving desserts at 3am on a weekend. As you see we ordered the mango moose cake, German chocolate cake, tuxedo cake, and.. I can’t remember the other circular one but some of the names are on their website.

  • Dahlia Thomas

I love breka! They have a variety of sandwiches, coffee and other drinks, breakfast items, pastries and desserts. It gets busy later during the day and especially on weekends; for good reason. This has become my go to place and I don't know why I didn't write a review sooner! Someone takes your order when you line up then pay and is pretty efficient. I also go to the breka on Main street!

  • Debra Hong

My son and his gf always buy something yummy in your store They bought a pumkin cake for Thanksgiving lunch and 2 cookies for themselves but somehow they forgot to eat it and next day l found it on top of my fridge. It was Absolutely delicious. I couldn't believe it was the best ever cookie I've eaten ever !!! Thank goodness you open 24 7 I just love your Gronola cookie

  • Ajay Sankar

The food was great as ever. Their sandwich and paninis are a treat for the eyes and equally good to taste as well. The steak and cheese Panini was good and my favorite was the turkey and cranberry sandwich on croissant. The Apple fritter is huge and tastes awesome! Coffee was good tooo. My favorite place to go after have some weed! Open 24hrs- and what more do you need!

  • Jonathan Neufeld

The selection here is what makes Breka stand out in the area. In particular the apple fritters are huge! I thought that because of the size maybe it wouldn't taste as good, but nope, wrong, mine tasted excellent. It wasn't too sweet, but it was moist and tender, and I tasted a hint of caramel with the apples. Check them out! there's plenty of cheap parking in the area.

  • Dan

Fantastic desserts!!!! 10/10, tiramisu is so smooth and tasty. Coffee flavor is there and the texture is great. The matcha cream puff is so light and flaky. The cream is filled all the way inside. The chocolate mousse cake is very creamy and velvety. And the German chocolate cake is nutty, with coconut in the middle. So so good! I am definitely going back for more!

  • RB Artates

I have never heard of a 24 hr bakery! I was amazed at how busy this location was at 11:30pm at night! Good selection of pastries and they were all so good! Friendly staff and received great customer service even at a busy night! We were able to dine in. Washrooms are available and is maintained properly. Good place for a midnight snack run!

  • Emaelena Souhal

Food and drinks are always good. Location is a bit inaccessible by car and parking is frustrating. It's usually really busy, so not a place to catch up with a friend but for carry out is great. Their $4 grilled cheese is super good, and their individual cakes are good value in a world where slices are typically $10 anywhere else you go.

  • Amberly Chung

T^T all my money went here at one point. It's so convenient that they are open 24 hours, and have delectable foods and a wide variety of choices. I have since spaced out the number of times I come here/ order from here, but have never been disappointed by the quality of food. Their eclaires and apple chia pudding has me in a chokehold.

  • Kathleen Espiritu

Everytime I come here, each cake I try is delicious! I like how they use real ingredients instead of fake things like hydrogenated items. The cakes I've tried so far are not overly sweet. However, I am deducting one star due to very limited seating. *tip* if you need to sit outside ask for a mug of hot water to go with your cake

  • Kdrama Junkie

Love it! The selection available at all hours is AHmazing and the quality is YUM! They also provide complimentary iced water. I subtract 1 star because the seating isn't well-planned and it's hard to find a place to sit. They need a bar for laptop users because there are too many singles taking up the tables that have 2 chairs.

Absolutely amazing bakery. Their cakes, donuts, cookies, and drinks are amazing. Definitely a little pricey but your paying for the quality of the food! 10/10 would recommend for a special occasion or just for a quick bite. This is is a photo of their truffle tuxedo cake (with a day of storage in my fridge).

Been to this location of Breka twice, affordable baked goods and such a great variety! Most recently I picked up a cherry strudel (wanted blueberry, but it wasn't available). Sweet and tasty, with a flaky crust. My family has also had their donuts and the mango coconut mousse cake, would highly recommend!

Been coming here for over a decade. The food never disappoints, the coffee is excellent and its open 24 hours a day, what more can you ask for. My personal favorites are the chocolate chip cookies, breakfast cookies, tiramisu and I usually pick up some sour dough bread every week from here.

  • Frank Bailey

Excellent baked goods, sandwiches and drinks. Seating is pretty great too, just wish they had more power outlets. I came here twice to work and grab a tea for a bit. Ended up staying for 3 hours each time. Great spot to get lost in your work amd eat something delicious during breaks.

  • S B

Oh my gosh the best donuts ever. And the coffee was fantastic. Disappointing that you can't sit there. It looks like there's room for at least one table for besides the two at the bar by the window. So many items to choose from in a good variety of prices as well. I'm impressed.

Great food and beverages but they allow customers to smoke right outside so when the door opens all the scent enters the store. I moved seats twice further away and it was still very strong. Concerning for individuals with respiratory issues.
