(Editing the post since the store responded) I added Red Lobsters pricing and pictures which is cheaper and twice the size and portion. The snow crabs here are not the size as the ones you would get at any crab shack. They were tiny. Like when you get like 6 whole crabs and they fit in one tray. Dont let them fool you. If you compare yourself to Red Lobster make sure your snow crabs are the same size and you offer the same sides and customer service. Remember this review came AFTER calling the store trying to resolve it. Food arrived cold. Orders advertised for snow crab shows group of clusters. Each 14$ order is one small snow crab leg. These pictures are a 60$ meal lol (54$ plus a tip is 60$) The plain fried rice that is (Plain) arrived with vegetables and onions in it. (He ignored this) These pictures are a 60$ meal hahaha These edits show you their customer service. They compare themselves to 5 star crab locations now. When I called to inquire about the order the manager swore on the phone and called me cheap. He also started insulting me withing 5 minutes. (Store comment ignored this comment also, I called the store before any of this to address it and was hung up on. They won't mention that part though) It was a 60$ order that was 2 snow crab legs and rice. Delivery driver got there quickly. However $5.00 Delivery Fee before the tip on a 1.3 mile delivery.(Store is located on Margaret. I live off Main street and Evergreen. Taking MLK makes it 3.2 miles but takes 5 minutes. Local is 1.3 miles. ) Manager hung up on me. Manager also threatened me. (Haha) So they commented and once again in their frustration still lied. Also I checked the reviews. Someone dealt with the same exact issue 3 weeks ago when ordering the same exact food which they just added to their menu. The manager literally did the same thing. Than compared his food to Red Lobster. I'll add that review in the picture

Unfortunately we never got to order the food because the customer service or lack thereof was sub par to say the least! Other restaurants in the area are cheaper and offered a level of customer service anyone would expect when spending their hard earned money. The man who answered the phone became offended and confrontational when I questioned the price of the food. He went as far as becoming nasty when I told him I wasn’t impressed at all with his attitude. Instead of trying to assist and deescalate, he offered to cancel the order. Merchants should understand that business is about obtaining and RETAINING customers and repeat costumers, especially being so close to the restaurant. The nursing staff was in my daughter’s hospital room while we were on speaker phone with this business and they advised they’d been receiving negative feedback and wasn’t sure if management had changed. They advised they would refrain from referring patients and other hospital staff from ordering from China Joy. We actually ordered from another restaurant in the area and both the customer service and the food was worth every penny. After living in Asia for over 3 years, I know for a fact that it’s not a culture issue- Asia offers a level of customer service that is mind blowing and in some areas, second to none!! China Joy, you should rethink how you talk to customers. Without the customers, you wouldn’t have a business!!

The food was good but they added a tip to my card. I decided to try them because I liked the fact that they were exercising safe business practices by handing food through window and having customers leave their receipt outside on a table. My order came to $12.79. I did not leave a tip because there was no service to tip. I was VERY surprised to see that my account was debited $14.32!!! It’s only a $1.53 but that’s cheating. It’s the principle. It’s unfortunate that they behaved this way. I really enjoy Chinese food but had a prior bad experience, so I had not been to a Chinese restaurant in years. I decided to give them a try because I figured if they’re respecting the laws on public safety they probably care about their customers. I’m very disappointed and now back to NO CHINESE restaurants AT ALL. After my experience, I decided to read reviews. I noticed in one review that the owner berated his customer and even called him cheap. Interesting. It seems very cheap to me to take $1.53 that does not belong to you in exchange for future business.

Do not eat here. Their communication skills and order taking/making skills are mediocre, and not ok. They stole from us 2 times now. The first time there was some kind of bone in our tofu. My husband is very weary of this place now, I hope it's safe for cooking in the back. I'm glad he did not chip his tooth or choke on the bone. We gave them another try today and again, didn't replace what they were missing yesterday. Like another comment said their eggrolls didnt feel thouroughly cooked. They're over priced and will try to nickle and dime you. Please choose another local business to support. Edit(they owe us 2 fried rice and one white rice) they did replace tofu that had bone in it yesterday.

I ordered food there due to our normal Chinese place was closed.we ordered at 7 it was 8:15 when we called to see where our food was they said door dash has not picked it up.... Let me say this if you are going to use door dash then u need to make sure u say that up front .your prices are outrageous.. for 3 dumplings, one chicken stick 850 and two soups two little house lomein ...I pay close to 75 dollars really ..hmm and then at the end charge me a delivery fee, fee to process and a tip .....That is deception at its finest and then when they pick the food up from the restaurant it is cold and has a be brought back to rebag because handles were broken...man then we you call and want a refund they acted like it is all China Joy you don't know until the payment that theu use door dash!!!!. Got my money thou !

I ordered here for a long time and liked it. Tonight I ordered my usual and the egg roll was forgot in the meal so I called and was completely disrespected. I was told I could leave in a note on my next order they “owe me a egg roll” like the next person on the shift would know that. So I said I don’t think that will work and the guy says “well I gave u an option what u wanna do?” So I said l “ I would like my egg roll delivered” and he said” there’s nothing I can do for u I’m no the driver.” I then explained I been a customer for over half a year and order once a week and he says “ I’m super busy sir” and hangs up. So needless to say I will never order from this dirtbag place again.

The time changed and it's dark outside, didn't want to go anywhere, so I opened doordash and China Joy popped up. I haven't had chinese food in a while because I don't really have one I like in my neighborhood (Arlington.) So I took a risk, ordered and it was pretty good. I didn't know it was far. For being on the other side of the bridge, food came hot and quick. At this point in my life I really appreciate people who can get orders right and make food taste good. I had sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, and boneless ribs. I am happy I got to eat chinese food. It has been a long time. The rice is yellow which has become a standard nowadays, but tasted good and nice portions. Me and my family enjoyed. Thank you.

Haven't tried the food yet might change my review but the online ordering app is horrid!!!!!! I called then to try to order but if your at work and can't leave like myself, they do not accept delivery orders on the phone its online only and I had to try 3 different card that had plenty of money on it but was declined?!?!?! I'm so frustrated I'm not feeling well and all I really wanted was some egg drop soup I hope it's as good as it looks. Update the food was not worth all the fuss ordered egg drop soup had a funny after taste and the Sriracha dumplings over fried and over charged for something that did not look as appetizing as the picture. Will never order from here again. Lesson learned.

I've ate at China Joy for over 14 years. To date, it's my favorite Chinese restaurant in Jacksonville. In fact, still, I will frequently drive from Macclenny, a 40 minute drive each way to get their food because it's that good. I've never had an issue with customer service or bad food. The staff are always really friendly and even during COVID they have been working really hard to keep up with demand. Their wings, teriyaki chicken, boneless spare ribs (oh man their boneless spare ribs, so so good), fried rice, soups, wontons, are all really good... just try their food. Thinking of China Joy brings me happiness and I am happy we have them as a choice for food! Thank you China Joy :)

  • Space Art Experience

I was shocked. About three months ago I ordered tofu & veggies for delivery. My family & I eat there often, up until then. The food came RAW. Now I've done the RAW-foods diet before but this was NOT what I was expecting. They never served it to me like this whenever I ordered this dish before. When I called they told me store credit based on phone number. I went to redeem there offer today to give them another chance. They acted like they had no clue what I was talking about, as if they didn't know me, & were VERY rude. There's seven other Chinese restaurants in this area in walking distance. I will not going back there again & I STRONGLY suggest YOU DON'T EITHER!

  • Fred Ford

Ordered general sou and shrimp fried rice. The rice was cold the broccoli was cold TWICE they said they would remake it and brought it right back out cold. Also don't use the kiosk to order we were first in line and 5 other ppl got their food in front of us that ordered with a human. Won't go back prob the worst I've had on this side of jax and it's overpriced by 4 dollars at least for the same dish ordered from other restaurants in town so 17 bucks for an egg roll and a hot soda. Left the food on the table and walked out......

My husband was hesitant to try China Joy as he is picky about restaurants and some online reviews were negative. We had China Joy tonight though, and suffice it to say that we are new fans!! We appreciate that China Joy has health conscious choices with crispy fresh veggies. A couple of reviews complained about cost, but using fresh ingredients costs a bit more! Reasonably priced for the portions and good veggie quality. We also were impressed by staff’s efforts during the COVID pandemic to all wear masks, use online ordering, and to have a specially made pickup door to help keep everyone safe. Thank you China Joy for all that you do!

  • Eric T

This didn't happen to me directly, but a customer ahead of me. He ordered almost 100 dollars worth of meals. The woman forgot to charge him extra for fried rice for a total of about 12 dollars. Then, even though they didn't ask him if he wanted it if he had to pay extra at the time of purchase, they required him to pay or he couldn't get his food. Refused to swallow their error, and he had to leave with no food. The woman then berated him and said karma would get him. The customer was blamed for their mistake. That rubbed me wrong.

I'm originally from up north & the China towns in certain cities are the best . I still haven't found a great Chinese place that has the authentic and varied food I was spoiled with. This place is skimpy on ingredients, only 4 wonton in a large soup. 2 slices of mushrooms in the large hot & sour soup, the egg rolls are shrinking fast & only have wilted cabbage in them. It's just a total disappointment, & they have the NERVE to charge the customer for using credit 3%. Too much emphasis on cutting quality & raising prices.

  • Naelle Naturals

Didn’t like the owners response to the issue with my order and how it was handled BUT I came back to give more stores because I believe they are the best Chinese restaurant I’ve tasted in JACKSONVILLE. I get the same thing each time even after being disappointed I continued to order and my orders were good after that. I spend a lot of money here I just expect to be treated a certain way as a returning customer but they season their food very well. But I get veggies rolls and chicken lomein

I ordered egg foo young combo, crab puff, and egg drop soup. The egg roll that came with the combo was way over cooked and hard to bite. The gravy for the egg foo young was disgusting tasted like peanut sauce. Crab puffs were pretty much tasteless and over cooked. The egg drop soup was too thin and tasted like there was sesame oil in it. Over all I was extremely dissatisfied with the food. I will prob never order from them again.

Ordered Pu Pu Platter to be delivered. Everything was over cooked.or burned. Called back to tell them they would give me a five dollar credit or replace it. Sine the platter was 12.95 I asked to have replased. Driver shows up and wants everyhing back accusing me of lying. I showed him the burnt chicken and dried out meat on sticks and tben wouldnt take back to Cook to prove that I was right. Replacement order was better but not complete shorted me shrimp. What a disappointment.

  • christopher mckenzie

I don't know how the food is at all because when I went to the place it was still boarded up from covid-19 even though that hasn't been a problem in months and months I will NEVER patronize this business. I tried to order, I walked up outside and waited beside their boarded up front door for about 3 minutes and no one came to take my order. I finally just walked away. You can't even get in and order they make you order from the sidewalk. Idiotic business model.

  • K S

The egg foo young sauce was like melted peanut butter so gross. I ordered fried rice got white rice. My husband liked the house lo mein and the steamed dumplings with his white rice. The egg rolls are ok. I really wanted this to be our new china food spot. I've never had egg foo young sauce so bad and I've tried a lot of egg foo young from Florida to Mexico

OMG it is the best Chinese restaurant in Jacksonville! Usually I’m very picky about food from Chinese restaurants. We traveled there for a occasion and we visited the place. The food was really good, and I don’t really even eat chicken but their sesame chicken was so good. Their crab puff was on the spot. I was even tempted to asked what type of recipe it was. If we visit Jacksonville again, we will certainly be at this great place again.

  • Keegan Gault

Had high hopes when I saw all of the good reviews. I ordered honey chicken and it was fried chicken pieces with a cup of honey on the side. I haven't had honey chicken like that before. I imagined the chicken being coated in a honey sauce. That may have been on me, regardless I tried my wife's general tsos chicken and the flavor just seemed off.

The egg foo young wasn’t that good and the sauce they used had the consistency of peanut butter wasn’t that great very muddy. The chicken were so big i wouldn’t be surprised if it was an actual duck pics will be included. The chicken there must of been fried there was a feather attached to it. Umm one of the chickens had plastic on it not sure where that came from ASKED FOR UTENSILS THEY WERE NOT INCLUDED .

I’ve been eating here since 2018 when I worked next door. By far the BEST Chinese I’ve ever had and I’m not just saying that. I have literally not found any other Chinese food place with the taste and quality of this China Joy. I especially love their General Tso, Garlic Wings, and the shrimp lo mein. Don’t get me started on the shrimp lo mein mannnn it’s so many shrimp…. Yea let me go order right now

  • Angela Mauney

i ordered thur doordash. honey wings, shrimp roll and lo mein. the honey sauce for the wings definietly isnt homemade, it was thick and tasted concentrated, it wasn't even spread on the wings. it was on the bottom with the wings on top, it was so thick it wouldnt coat the wings. no shrimp in my shrimp roll, lo mein mushy . never eating here again, i should have ate mcdonalds.

Straight disgusting and needs to be shut down. My husband's found clumps of hair in his fried rice. Called them and what do they say?!? They'll give me MORE fried rice, but not my money back and don't bring the food back so they can see we weren't lying. The so called management is a joke. The health department needs to look at this place, is disgusting.

  • Deonte Lee (D.Lee)

Place was clean service was beyond acceptable. Food is tasty. Cream cheese wontons are "doughy" on the inside and I don't see any actual cream cheese in them however they have a faint sweet taste. (Maybe it's a different type of wontons than I'm accustomed to). Overall food was good and I'd go back.

Food LOOKS and SMELLS delicious but I can't find out because they did not include CHOPSTICKS with my order of Lo Mein. How am I supposed to eat Lo Mein without ? I thought this was Chinese food. If people want to use forks, that should be optional, but should be default. -2 Stars for sacrificing culture for conformity.

worst experience. i watched the girl in the back eat from the pans with her hands than once she notice me watching her she used thongs if that was any better. My food was wrong and not worth the wait. We go here often but will have to stop if you keep letting your employee act rude and eat with their hands. gross

Super expensive! They only delivered half of my order, which was wrong, & forgot my drink. I ordered a beef love mein meal, cheese wontons, & a 2-liter, it came to $18.31? I'm sorry, what? I thought that total was with the missing meal. The only reason they're getting two stars is because of the delivery driver.

  • Kaity Coughlin

This place renewed my love of Chinese food!! I was so sick of ordering the same gross frozen junk from every other place. Ordered the Hunan Chicken and what do I find? Fresh veggies! Hand rolled eggrolls! Fresh dumplings! Even the pork fried rice was moist and delicious! Never ordering from anywhere else again.

Food was not good and the service was awful. Be careful if you pay online that they do not try to get you to pay again at the door. We got home and our order was wrong. I was visiting Jacksonville and China Joy was a life saver. The standard of Asian restaurants in Jacksonville is so low that I was losing hope. Very good beef, generous portion and mostly lean. You will remember me, I was the guy who ordered beef pepper steak everyday.

I ordered shrimp fried and honey chicken. They gave me chicken with honey sauce on the side and the rice had a bug in it. I paid $14 just throw it in the trash. Horrible food. DONT GO THERE!!

I was not impressed. We ordered wings, hot& sour soup, dumpling soup, cheese wontons, and fried rice. It just wasn't good flavor. The fried rice was good, everything else was just okay

I am addicted. Best chinese in Jax. Finally found my favorite. Food is always steamy hot and fresh, and they are so quick despite being short staffed!! Loveee the Mongolian beef.

  • Patriot Squirrel

We spent $25 for 2 meals that were absolutely atrocious. So bad, in fact, that we had to toss it after a few bites. I'm just glad we didn't get sick. Don't waste your money here.

We used to like this place, but now they have started to short food (chicken wings) and give us old food (cheese wontons)!! We will not be back ever again! Do not eat here!

Much better then average Chinese take out food but I was given a wrong order. I am just glad I check it before I took off. They can be little more friendly so minus a star.

Ordered Szechuan Chicken $14.95 via Door Dash and they didn't put the white rice in, a key component of the meal. I called and no solution other than drive out and get it.

The fried rice was bland and dry/old. Chicken was swimming in sauce, and bonless spare ribs were over cooked. Just not up to basic standards. Would not eat here again.

I got exactly what I wanted, it was delivered by Uber Eats. The food was very delicious and hot. I will be going back. My son and I had the Shrimp Egg Foo Young

  • Albrista Skahn

GROSS! I’ve had good Chinese food and bad Chinese food but none has had this little or bad flavor. The egg drop soup tastes like pepper tap water.

Just ordered from China Joy for the 1st time tonight (FRIDAY) -- portion size was MASSIVE - flavor was mediocre. Will try again when not so busy.
