"Would never recommend this place even if desperate! They have very horrible and rude staff, the atmosphere is very awkward, unpleasant, tight space, disgusting and unhygienic toilets"
"Came here with a friend the weekend just gone and I'm pleasantly surprised that there are more places to go for a bite"

Had two disappointing experiences which, unfortunately, is down to lack of staff training. One time ordered three drinks, one without tea but was still given with tea (unfortunately only realised once left the cafe), and one drink top was not sealed properly, so it leaked in the bag. The last time, we went in and ordered two drinks. A young guy with a baseball cap took our order and payment. We were waiting for 20 minutes whilst the guy who took our order was behind the counter talking with two other members of staff, one of them on the phone. We thought that he was preparing our drinks, but realised later that he was not. A female member of staff approached the counter and asked if we wanted to order. We explained that we had already ordered and had been waiting for 20 minutes. She found our order ticket still attached to the ticket machine, apologised and started making our drinks. The guy with the baseball cap came out from behind the counter. As he walked past me, I told him that the whole time we had been waiting for our drinks without anyone preparing them. All he could say was "We are on a break at the moment" and walked off. Super rude! The cafe was empty, there were four staff members behind the counter doing nothing in the 30 minutes that we were in the cafe waiting. Bad organisation! Bad customer service! Super disappointed!
Outrageous experience. I ordered the steak Noddle soup. The beef didn't taste fresh and it was mostly fat. The soup flavour was plain and overpowered with lemon flavour. I had to ask for pepper and coriander to lift the flavour. I mentioned it to the waiter which asked if I wanted to change it. I agreed. She went to speak with the chef, came back and offered to change the soup base and said that's how the steak comes. I asked to change it for a different dish, She declined this. I asked to change it for the seafood Noddle soup. She said it was not fair with other clients because if one complains then they will have to do the same for everyone. I asked to speak to the manager. She said the manager is the chef and he doesn't speak well English and that's what he said. I was so upset as she initially offered to change it. I was hungry and my soup was already cold too with all this bad service. I told her to take the food away. A rip off and terrible customer service!
Would never recommend this place even if desperate! They have very horrible and rude staff, the atmosphere is very awkward, unpleasant, tight space, disgusting and unhygienic toilets. They usually get orders wrong and if you say something they get abusive, aggressive and rude. There are many nicer places nearby, on the same road, for food and drinks that are chill, decent and worth your money

Dietary restrictions
They do not care about diets, and do not care to accommodate people
Parking
no parking spaces nearby, in fact there is always traffic jam there, so I would not bother personally, they are not worth it!
Kid-friendliness
too claustrophobic and with those abusive members of staff, I would not recommend it.
Wheelchair accessibility
not accessible for wheelchairs
Came here with a friend the weekend just gone and I'm pleasantly surprised that there are more places to go for a bite. Decided to try out this new place as judging by the large number of people already dining in there, was a good sign that the place was decent. I was not wrong. A clean and nicely decorated cafe offering various Asian inspired dishes as well as Asian drinks such as bubble teas. For starters we chose the chicken wings (very generous portions) and the ebi prawns. Very nice and got us prepared for our mains, Nasi Goreng Pattaya (fragrant and quite spicy, how I like it) and for my friend, she opted for the Pineapple rice (served in a pineapple and was very well presented). Along with the meai we had a Mecha bubble tea and an asahi for me. Couldn't fault the evening and it all cost us about £30. Bang on
The Tawainese Beef Noodle Soup is amazing, the beef broth & thick noodles really make the dish! Only complaint is there's a lot of fat & gristle left in. The Tom Yum soup & Salt and Pepper Tofu is really good! I'd stay away from the Salt & Pepper Chips (tasted like socks) and the Curries since they have little sauce & lots of rice. The Miso Soup is quite bland & so is the tteobokki (plus small size for price, but it is a starter). The bubble tea is the cheapest on the street & fine (sweet, tapioca balls incl, not much flavour). The student discount makes the price worth it, would recommend.

It is a nice place with good service and friendly staff. I got a beef broth with sweet potato vermicelli. It was nice but the flavours were not balanced correctly. It was a bit overpowering (perhaps too much soy sauce...but I'm not sure if that was the issue). The bulk of ingredients tasted great and it is a pity that the broth itself was too strong. I ate all the veg and meat but had too avoid drinking the broth. I have a feeling with slight adjustment, this could have been a 5 star experience. I would go here again as all the food being served around me looked delicious. It's worth a try as it's reasonably priced so you're not going to break the bank.
Completely unprofessional Sent order at 9:40 for food to be delivered via deliveroo. Order was accepted and money was taken called 5 minutes later to be told, order could not be completed as they were "closed" and then they had the audacity to ask me to cancel it on my side which would mean I only got this back as credit. I have work in the morning and didn't have any food all day and now thanks to the pure laziness of thier staff I'm going hungry tonight Thanks café 55 you just lost a regular customer

I was pretty disappointed by the experience, we ordered pan fried gyoza for £7.50 and when they came they were tiny, like a single bite each (half the size of normal ones.) My girlfriend's bubble tea for £4 was 20p worth of weak cordial with no bubbles in it! And what's with the £3 service charge they add on via Uber eats? Food tasted alright, the chicken fan was a bit bland and had almost no veggies in. Overall feels like a low amount of effort put into relatively expensive food for the takeaway market. I won't be ordering again.
We went with our 9-year old son, and they had a good variety of kids options. Lucky us, the chef made the mistake of sending us the adult version, for the same prize. It was a very well crafted Salmon Yakisoba. We also enjoyed Miso Soup, Spring Rolls, a delicious Salt & Pepper Calamari, and Takoyaki. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and a tasty overall East culinary experience. Totally recommended!

Ordered food from here, food arrived absolutely pristine with gorgeous presentation. I got the pan fried vegetable gyoza and the pmpkin katsu it was absolutely to die for. Love the wide variety of veggie options and portion sizes were generous. 10/10 would recommend and will be ordering from here again.

Food has declined massively. Although I’ve used Cafe55 a few times - the last two have been very poor. Initially the service when I was delivered the wrong food and they refused to assist and recently when the food quality was very poor. Brown lettuce leaves, very tired tomatoes, peas in fried rice we’re not nearly fresh and the rib portion that was £7.80 was tiny. Shame the service has declined so much, they do not respond to customer feedback and overpriced now at £40+ to feed a family of 4!!
Service was nice and the bubble tea is good. Food however was not up to scratch. My chicken seemed almost raw and my partners’ was overcooked and dry, the veg was unseasoned and tasted like boiled grass and there was very little sauce in the dish. Too expensive for the quality we revived. Boycotting!

Tasty food. We shared our dishes & found ourselves quite full! The bubble tea was tasty & nicely presented in a cute mason jar. You must go up to order your food/drinks. It was quiet when we visited (late afternoon on a Sunday) but it would probably be busier on weeknights.

Delicious selection of Asian cuisine presented very nicely when eating in for lunch/dinner. Also great to stop by for bubble tea and cake. You order first at the till whether eating in or taking out. Service was impressively quick when the café was moderately busy. The food is not too expensive at all, great for students.
stopped by for some bubble tea, it tasted great!! I love the vibes in this cozy cafe. the staff were also great - they told us about the student discount too, which I am very grateful for.

The food itself was okay at best, but the staff seemed confused. Asked them if thee food was halal and she told us it was, upon further enquiry, it turned out that the food was not halal and only the chicken was. Very disappointed in the service as I was looking forward to the food, but had to throw it away
Ordered the sizzling sirloin steak with FAN (rice) with crabmeat sweet corn soup, chicken skewers and Hainan chicken FAN set. The service was good food tasted amazing and the price was very reasonable. I wish there were more crabmeat on the soup though but other than that highly recommend this place!
Having loved this place as a student at the University, I was so happy to be able to visit again during the Commonwealth Games. The food is delicious, staff lovely and the bubble tea is next level. Thank you!

I had a meal here with some friends recently and I was literally speechless at how good the food was! I had the chef special fish in hot chilli oil and I wouldn’t be exaggerating to say it was the best fish dish I’ve ever had. The waitress was really nice too! Amazing experience.
We come here to dine, but it feel a bit little cold, & so we just decided to just do take away, got home portion wise was okey its just lacking of some of the flavours.

Ordered 2 bubble teas this evening and it was sent to us without straws!! The tea itself was delicious..we had the papaya and pomegranate bubble tea..quite miffed about the lack of straws as how can one enjoy the full aspect of the bubbles and tea without the straws!
My go-to cafe for coffee. I love it here and enjoy getting coffee every single morning. Great experience, with great workers that treat customers right. If I could give this cafe 6 Stars, I would do so in a heartbeat!

Twice I've been in and paid for a take away box only to be told half the stuff is gone. Worse thing about is 2nd time I had paid on card so it had to be refunded back to card. Annoying leaving the shop empty handed but having a pending transaction on my account
The food court for the locals, plenty of choices. Food is of a reasonable standard, only the roast duck is very average. Not much in the way of service, that's the general trend around the area. A bit of service with a smile would definitely be appreciated.
While I am sure they will recover and the food quality is great every time I've ordered from them the packing is sloppy. This time the sauce from the ribs covered everything else in the bag. Was this Deliveroo or them? Who cares? My experience is the same.
Fantastic food here, service is always very good too. The only downfall is the prices, I wouldn't say the food is exceptionally good so I'm not sure why they charge so much when local competitors serve food as good for less but besides that excellent.
Asian food which is tasty but not quite as good as it should for the price. I've had a few takeaways and once sat in and ate here - in the latter experience the music was far too loud, not very atmospheric, and kept on being switched on and off.
The place is amazing with a great atmosphere and top-notch service. Visited the place on a few occasions now, and every time, I am surprised at how good the food taste in there. My personal favourite is beef brisket ramen with sweet potato
I've been twice now and I'm definitely a fast fan. The staff are lovely, atmosphere is chill and the food more importantly is really good! Definitely happy to have stumbled upon this place

Absolutely terrible. Frozen food badly reheated. The worst dining experience I've had in a very long time. The high price for such low quality food was the biggest insult. Avoid.

Food is stale during dinnertime. Been here for lunch before and it's great then, but not during dinner I've just found out. Atmosphere and staff service is great though, worth a visit in the afternoon when food is generally fresher.
The restaurant is clean and the ambience is good. Service is quick and food is delicious.

Really quick service food was ordered and arrived in 10 minutes! Extremely tasty food and very generous portions! Can be a bit pricey if you're a student but definitely one of the best places to eat on the high street!
Great place to have a casual meal or tea with friends! My only criticism was that the calamari that I ordered was really oily (but the sauce was great) and the taro bubble tea I had was very powdery yet lack flavour
Wonderful atmosphere, delicious food, simply perfect: the food is served with just the right amount of sauce and the servings are large. It might not be as cheap as other food places, but it's worth every penny!
Got a small takeaway pot while on my lunch break from work 30mins ago and do not regret it at all. Service was speedy, and noodles and beef were delicious for a good price too. Would 100% recommend to anyone.
Their bak-kut-teh is GREAT. Generous portion compared to other places. Soup was cooked with a whole bulb of garlic, great flavour. Can be considered pricey, but all of their dishes never disappoint.
Pretty good little cafe with a good choice of Chinese, Japanese and other Asian food. Clean and tidy, quick service and good value. A little intimidating from the outside but the staff are friendly.
Really good place for a quick meal or take away. In store, I often go for starters and noodle soup. My children really like the chicken Katsu, and we often get it with some gyoza for take away.
Fast food style SE Asian restaurant. Food was okay, perhaps a little bit greasy, and restaurant itself was a little bit awkward with uncomfortable seats. However, there was decent free WiFi.
Food is good, price can be a teeny better, but that could be said for all things. The atmosphere and ambience is very nice and chill, great place to be. Can't go wrong ordering their currys.

What a lovely place for hanging out with friends, the staff are really friendly, they got a wild range of hot food and dessert we can choose from. One of the best places around the area.
Great food, loads of flavour and was ready nice and quick. We had the street food selection and bought 5 different dishes and this was enough for two. Would definitely go back again.
Some of the best bubble tea in Birmingham. You can customise the drink a sufficient amount and the price is relatively fair.

the food was legit ready in less than 5 minutes!, and everything was so hot and fresh, the chicken was so juicy and the takoyaki was amazing!! Great service too :)
Yum yum, this place is fast and efficient. Love the food here and a pic below of my favorite dish. If your in selly oak, Don't leave with out going here.
Reasonable price and the best Korean food I have had in Birmingham. They can be a little bit more cleaner but generally speaking it a great place
I've been here several times for the bubble tea. I highly recommend passionfruit bubble tea with lychee popping bubbles, so refreshing!!
First time experiencing this place the food was outstanding very tasty and well cooked aswell as good portions, staff very friendly too
Tasty food. Had the fresh pineapple king prawn fried rice, delicious but only 5 prawns (I counted them) So, more prawns please. …
Lovely food! Sweet & sour chicken is excellent! Definitely recommend! One of the nicest restaurant/ takeaways in Birmingham!
I love it here! the portion sizes are very big and the bubble tea is nice. Staff are also very helpful and lovely.
