Vegan's, people with allergies / Lactose intolerance please beware. My partner and I went for a vegan breakfast. I asked if they did a vegan hot chocolate, which the gentleman behind the counter replied "yes we do, it would be with oat milk or soya milk". We went with oat milk and we were presented with a hot chocolate, dusted with chocolate and a Cadbury's flake bar on the side. I was curious to see a flake on the side as I've never seen or heard of a vegan flake. So I asked the lady behind the counter about the flake; she said "yeah it's vegan" she then asked her colleague in the kitchen and they replied "yes it is vegan". I wasn't so sure, so I went back to the table and me and my partner searched online to check ingredients, and to find a vegan version of a flake bar. We couldn't! Before we left we felt like we needed to inform the staff at Cafe Mbriki about the flake. I asked which flake they use, because I couldn't find one online. She replied "its just the normal Cadbury's one". I then said "that has milk in it". She then said "she always gives flakes with a vegan hot drink". I asked do they have the box for the flakes so we can check the ingredients as I maybe wrong. She said "we don't have the box". Which begs me to question how can I trust anything from here? I explained, "I'm not lacoste intolerant, but others maybe be or have different beliefs on dairy products and you guys really need to be careful, as someone could be seriously affected - especially if they have an allergy. When people come into any place of service and you label something as vegan there's an automatic trust the consumer expects". To which the lady responded "I only do what my manager says". I believe this is wrong and I feel the individual should know what they are serving. This experience has made me lose trust at Cafe Mbriki, it's a nice place, but I wouldn't bother going if you have allergies or are vegan. Happy to re-review this if they can provide the ingredients to the products they serve. However staff should be aware and not rely on others to tell them.

I planned my visit to Leicester including coming here for lunch so I had in my mind what to order and what to expect. However, nothing went as planned. The lack of service threw me a bit. There was no waiting staff to direct you a table. Yes, it's a very small place that you could easily work out which table was occupied or not but for solo travellers like myself, I'd rather not risk leaving my possession on a table or chair then go and order at the counter. Like I said, there is no waiting staff so you must order at the counter. Not only that, there was nobody who would ask you how the food or drink was as well as clearing up the tables. I originally wanted (was literally eyeing on) the platter for one Goubes but it was unavailable. I ended up ordering Greek breakfast at £5.60 and a hot chocolate at £3. The price is reasonable considering it's situated in the city centre. I quite enjoyed their hot chocolate - silky and not too sweet. On the contrary, the Greek breakfast was just ok but there was definitely no wow factor to it.

Visited just before Christmas and have remembered the cafe being open for years (or as long as I can remember) and service has always been excellent. The staff on shift were so lovely and helpful, brought our food and drinks over to the table in good time and atmosphere is lovely, everyone tends to keep to themselves but makes it nice for being able to have a catchup without everyone hearing your conversations. Gets full really quickly and it's no surprise - priced very reasonably and food is of good quality. No time limit on how long you can stay for either.

Lots of families with young children come here and there is a separate kids menu with plenty of options on there that is fairly priced too.

I called in while visiting Leicester to eat one of the delicious Vegan Cakery cakes that they stock (I knew about it via VC social media posts). The cafe is cosy and welcoming with a nice clean loo. Its location is extremely handy for visiting the interesting old part of town (Guildhall, Richard III Visitor Centre etc). While I was in there I must have dropped my purse. I only noticed after an hour or so of sightseeing, but when I went back in a panic I was immediately handed the purse complete with all the contents. So five stars for kind and honest staff and (probably!) customers too! I'll definitely go back next time I'm in Leicester.

Went for breakfast this morning, upon entering the cafe there was no greeting from the server behind the counter. She didn’t even acknowledge us coming in, which we noticed straight away. Then we went to order, she didn’t seem the slightest bit bothered. It was quiet since it was early, but there was 0 atmosphere. Had we not said thank you once we finished and left, I don’t think the server would’ve said anything at all. Customer service is 0. Food was average.

I felt that the cafe was small and claustrophobic and this is aside from social distancing measures it is still tiny. Decor is ok but nothing synonymous with cosy cafe. Service was ok if a little lacking i had to ask for example to have my dirty table cleaned which in light of covid, does not bode well. I felt prices were a tad on the high side didn't really get the feeling of value for money. The bacom baguettes however were very nice and the bacon wasn't fatty with lots of rind on it. All in all not the best or my fave but not exactly shabby either.

We visited this nice cafe last Saturday. It was a cold morning and we were in search of a nice hot drink. So glad we stumbled across this cafe. We had the Gingery Gingerbread Hot Chocolate, Cappuccino and Old School Cake. It all hit the spot!!! Staff were friendly and drinks and cakes were perfect. Thanks

I just returned home after visiting this cafe to take away a couple of vegan cakes for my elderly parents. The ladies at the counter were not particularly friendly and also they put in one cupcake, but failed to put in the slice of coffee and chocolate cake. I should have checked the box, but did not expect to be missing one of two items upon paying for two. The place was not busy at all at 12 noon. :(

Reheated frozen falafel like you buy in lidl/aldi on top of some lettuce leaves and tomato for nearly £6. Total rip off. Buy falafel from genuine traditional cafe for same price don't waste your money. For similar price la foret do amazing salad with genuine falafel, couscous, mix salad, pitta, homemade houmous olives, etc, I don't know why this place mbriki make no effort to make the food nice.

  • Jay Ganatra

Lovely selection of fresh quality healthy dishes. Lovely ambiance. I had a jacket potato with cheese and beans, which comes with side salad and homemade coleslaw. The coleslaw was so tasty and fresh. The potato oven baked fluffy and a nice big size. Loved it. Only reason for not giving 5 Stars is the skin of the jacket potato wasn't crispy, but that is nitpicking. Overall a great experience.

  • Soonyata Mianlamai

I hang out with some friends there. It was a cute little place, relaxing, quiet, with a few customers working on their laptops. We only tried sweet dishes and drinks. No issue with any of them. All were good. In summary, it’s another nice coffee shop in the area

This has to be the worst English breakfast I’ve ever had. Do not recommend it. Cheap, frozen ingredients used. Frozen, tasteless sausages probably bulk bought, bacon stiff, burnt and totally inedible. Scrambled eggs were made from powdered eggs and the beans totally bland. Absolute waste of money and bad experience. Other food maybe ok here but the English breakfast to be avoided!

  • chriS

It's ok. The English breakfast was a bit of a let down. Scrambled eggs were overcooked for me and the bacon was 40% burnt black. Friends food didn't exactly look nice either. The price was fine for what it was.

I want you to drink at this coffeehouse. The ambiance is nice, but not kitschy. They seat outdoors in Leicester's Lanes. Their coffee is delicious and the prices have not lifted off in the way they elsewhere because of the pandemic. Free Wi-Fi and cosy indoor chairs. Neat selection of deserts, sandwiches, and Greek-inspired meals

It's hard to overpraise Cafe Mbriki. They're easily one of the nicest places to have breakfast or lunch in the city. The food is great and they have excellent vegan options, including the fantastic cakes from Vegan Cakery which, as I understand it, employs exclusively wizards to conjure the cakes from some parallel vegan utopia.

  • Peter Warren

Every food Greek coffee, not too bitter and not too heavy. Lack of options to pick beans with is a shame. Cakes are good, not overly sweet and you can taste, that there are fresh. Great and friendly service, kind and knowledgeable.

Amazing vegan options! There are usually at least 4 or 5 cake choices and they can make the majority of their drinks vegan too. This cafe is by far my favourite in Leicester. It is always busy but you don't feel crowded. The staff are friendly and helpful. Lovely cosy atmosphere.

A small and very popular cafe with excellent coffee, good choice of cakes and Italian and Greek light food options. Disappointingly, panini are made with baguettes. Free wifi, ask for the password at the bar. Great for breakfast and lunch, and for meeting friends.

Really bad experience today The spanokopita was not a proper one Much smaller, spicy and not spinach or feta Really disappointed as I used to be a regular The staff were very helpful though I should have been offered a refund I order a spanokopita. That wasn't one!

We drink coffee and eat here quite often. The coffee is very good and there is a large selection of local made cakes to try, every one always looks great. The food has always been nice when we've tried it, but it's all about the cakes and coffee.

I do like this little cafe, and always go there when in the city.. Ideal for light lunches in central setting .staff friendly and helpful, so just relax.. Downside...., Don't sit near the loo .Hand drier makes an awful row

  • Charlotte Bone

I popped in here for tea and cake and was really impressed with the number of vegan suitable desserts! My friend is gluten free and was also able to find options. I'll definitely be back if I'm ever in the area again :)

  • Ryan McGarity

Fun Greek feel in this cafe. Lots of unique breakfast options that feel you full and feeling healthy. The coffee was clearly burnt, not sure if that is just a supplier problem. You're here for the hot chocolate anyway.

  • Kilometer 454

Good food and reasonable prices, the place is also very nice. I enjoyed my meal when I came in here. The cakes are also very delicious with vegan options that my friend really liked. Will surely visit here again soon.

  • Colette Tan

The food is not that great - of the oats, Christmas sandwich and grape & brie panini, I only enjoyed the last one. However, the cafe is a nice, cosy space with lovely vibes. Priced similar to other cafes in the area.
