What a find ! Anything to do with auto repair is consternating anyway; finding a trustworthy place in L.A especially so (My baseline assumption being that most places are rip-offs ,chop-shops, liars.). After seeing good reviews for Koester here on Yelp and a couple of other places - I called. Got an appointment immediately so I headed in still leery or what was to come The air conditioning system in my 2009 Audi hadn’t really been working for a couple of years and as I was driving last week in this god forsaken heat wave with my A/C on, all of a sudden, the engine started making strange noises, losing RPM at regular intervals every few seconds when idling, and eventually, white smoke started coming out of the right side of the hood and the cabin filled with that smoke via vents - a scary and unpleasant experience... I called a few experienced mechanics in the valley who told me I either need a new car or else I am looking at spending $8,000 for a repair. Then, I called Koester and explained everything to Ben. Right away - he said "Your A/C compressor is seizing and this causes a lot of friction which, in turn, causes smoke." Then I asked him: "Should I have my car towed to you?" to which he responded: "You can try driving - just make sure you have enough anti-freeze and your heating or A/C is off while you're driving." I listened and drove my car 18 miles to Koester, fortunately, without any major adventures. Got there and was greeted by Ben before I could even get out my car. He had remembered my name from me calling and was standing outside waiting for me to arrive. After talking to him I felt really comfortable with him. He was just very genuine so there I left it for complete diagnostics and repair. The major repair took 1 day, and my climate control system is better than it was when the car was brand new. On top of the brand new A/C compressor, fixed climate control system and steering pump, I had a timing chain cover, gaskets, water pump, radiator, fuel and oil filters replaced - all for a price of just around $3,900 - something that other car shops in quoted $5k - $8k to do. That speaks volumes about Koester’s honesty and trustworthiness, aside from the highest quality work! Once again, my car feels like new and I look forward to driving it for another 60k miles. I will definitely visit Koester again and I highly recommend you to take your car there. These mechanics are very affordable, knowledgeable, caring and friendly.

Koester Automotive is the best auto care that I have found in LA. I had a 2005 Chevy Malibu that failed smog inspection due to the check engine light not lighting up on the dashboard, and at first I thought it might be a simple fix, such as replacing a fuse. After my usual mechanic checked it out, he said it was not a fuse and was probably an electrical-related problem in the dashboard. My mechanic does not do auto electrician work, so I was basically on my own to find someone else who did. I was so nervous because I have been ripped off with auto services before and I have very little knowledge or understanding about car repairs in general. I resorted to Yelp to find an auto electrician and stumbled upon Koester Automotive, and thank god I did. Ben and his team are simply the best. He made sure that I completely understood every step of the process - what was being checked out, what was damaged, what kind of repairs he recommended, and price. I always feel some level of unease when it comes to auto repairs, but Ben made sure I never felt this way. The car had to have an extensive check-up into the dashboard and all the electrical wiring to figure out what the problem was, and every other place that I had called quoted me at least $400 to $500 just to diagnose the problem. Ben was able to do the job at half these prices! I also had to leave the car over the weekend for them to work on, and Ben always made sure I was updated on the car's progress and when everything would be completed. All in all, I dropped the car off on a Friday, picked it up on Monday, and got my second smog check passed that same Monday afternoon. Because of my great experience here, Ben and his team at Koester Automotive are now my new mechanics for any and all future repairs and check-ups. I definitely plan on going back to them and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone.

My car took a dive on the way down south in Sherman Oaks. I live up north so I one shot with a tow truck to get to a good place. I figured in the morning I could get in early and get things fixed by the end of the day. Looked online, found this Koester Automotive, multiple good review, what luck right? Get the the shop, a guy hence forth referenced as Gutter Slag, he was nice, a quick inspection around 1100am reveals two torn radiator hoses, not too big a deal. Gutter Slag says he will order the parts now and have them in later today and in the mean time will check out if anything else could be wrong with the vehicle. Well three hours later and with a service bill for two radiator hoses, one thermostat, radiator flush/service and a bad battery (apparently) things were not as good. It happens right? Well with some cursory Googling and phone calls, I come to conclude Gutter Slag is over pricing his service and parts by I say a goof five to six hundred dollars. Also, when the new work order came in around 0200pm, only now did gutter Slag feel good enough about things to order some parts finally ... Joy! People regularly wait an extra six hours for a completed job right? So an extra five hundred out my pocket, a fat lie to my face and being left feeling like Gutter Slag will totally take over any situation to make people pay out. Screw this guy, I hope for nothing but daily mosquito bites and a new kid every other year on Gutter Slag. Have fun when robots totally take over your profession in ten years, you zilch.

Ben is definitely one of the most affable mechanics I have come across. Which can be hard to find in Los Angeles. He's always been able to fit me in and has always fixed my car with the utmost care. I've been able to schedule rather last minute oil changes and he still manages to get me in and out in about a half hour, despite weekends always being busy for mechanics. I've never had any problems with my car after one of his repairs. I've had my brakes done by a dozen of mechanics over the past decade, all with the same vehicle, and they always seem to start breaking down not but a few short months after the repair, however, since going to Koester, they've been fine for a year now and counting. He is good about keeping in contact and informing you every step of the way on prices and what needs to be done, never acting without your permission. Always putting the customer first and doing everything he can to get your car repaired and back to you in a reasonable amount of time. He even has a loaner car he can provide you if the repairs will be more intensive than you hoped and you'll need some way to get to work. I've always found his prices to be completely fair and often cheaper than other mechanics I've gone to in the area. I've recommended a couple friends to him and they've also had nothing but pleasant experiences. I highly suggest him and his mechanics to anyone.

I moved to North Hollywood for my work in Sherman Oaks recently. I was planning on a weekend trip and needed a car check-up (maintenance light). This is a quick and easy type of mechanic check-in and Ben handled it as such. Some backstory... I called around to 3 other services in the area - I chose this place because it was closest and had BY FAR the cheapest diagnostic cost ($50 vs $120). Any good mechanic will offer a cheap diagnostic and make their money back on honest service - my end total was actually less than $50... my car was in good condition as expected, Ben gave me a list of upcoming issues (basic maintenance, wiper blades, fluids,) and changed my oil filter + drain and new oil for a total of $25.* *diagnostic fee was removed because i actually went for services. My total before any service, for the full check-up, was $50. My end cost to $25 - he dropped the diagnostic fee and charged only for oil change + filter. Long Story Short - I found ben because he was the closest mechanic and cheapest diagnostic cost. I will keep using him as mechanic because I trust him, he has great prices, and CALLED ME Post Diagnostic, Before Adding Oil, and Upon completion of service to confirm every action he was doing for my car. Finally, An Honest Auto Mechanic!!! Amazing! Yes, it's amazing to find an honest mechanic in today's world, but we did. Did we ever! We found a cool auto service center right here in the Valley, in Van Nuys. But here's the problem, my kids think I'm crazy for high-fiving these guys on Yelp. They think if I give these guys a good Yelp review, everyone will go there to service their cars, then the place will be too crowded, and we'll have to wait forever for service. It seems contrary to the purpose of review site - if a business is really, really good, keep it to yourself, lest the good reviews help grow the business so big that they lose the personal touch you've grown to love. But alright, that's what my kids want, so I'll review the place without mentioning the name. First of all, my kids found this automotive Land Of Oz by themselves. They pride themselves on comparative shopping and researching businesses online. (I think they just like to show me that their iPad was a good investment.) In any case, they found this one-stop shop for mechanical, electrical and body work right here in the heart of the SF Valley, who don't charge an arm and a leg.

Yippee! I took my car to Koester after it was hit while parked on the street (GULP!) and had the best experience imaginable: Ben advised me about how to strategize with the other party who wanted to pay cash (Read: He calmed me down). Once insurance was involved, he and Lana helped navigate the process, even getting me factory parts by re-doing my estimate. Ben took my car in after a bad accident almost 3 years ago, and he's been solid ever since. After recent radiator problems, I brought my car to a random mechanic in my neighborhood (not Ben) to avoid driving further. This guy was going to charge me $600 to fix the issue. One of the best decisions I've ever made was taking my Mercedes Benz here. This shop is professional, friendly, reasonable and knowledgeable. I took my car to Ben and he helped me out every step of the way. He broke down the process that would take place and gave me a reasonable price. The service from Sam was amazing! My car was repaired perfectly, cleaned and dropped off to my place fast. They fixed my Ferrari quickly and it drives better! Thank you Sam and team. Also side note my insurance company is pure evil, they tried to play games with me and the shop to make the repair process much longer and their own shop couldn't fix my Ferrari because they where shady crooks from what it seemed like. The insurance company delayed my claim and lied to me many times but thank goodness Sam kept such good records and kept me in the loop at ever step so I was totally aware of how evil the insurance company is. Koesner Automotive is amazing! They took in my car on Monday afternoon, without an appointment, and all of the work was done by Tuesday morning! This was very convenient because it meant I didn't miss any work. It was 113 degrees the day I dropped off my car. He showed me an air conditioned room I could wait in and even brought me cold water. I know nothing about cars so I barely knew what work I needed done. He did not try to up sell me on anything that I didn't need. His prices are exactly what I was expecting and extremely reasonable. Just moved to California and was looking for a nearby auto shop. Needed to have my old license plate removed due to some badly rusted screws, as well as an oil change. They gave me the oil change, and threw in the license plate change plus new screws, at no additional cost. Also called me to tell me what their plan was for the rust, to make sure and get my approval and give me the price before doing any major work (thankfully that was not needed). Overall a very good experience, definitely recommended.

I had a great experience at Koester's. I needed a lot of work done on my car which usually would have taken 3 or 4 days but they finished in 1 day. Ben (the owner) clearly explained what they had to do and he gave me the best price. I was completely unaware of car problems and because of that I was worried that I would be taken advantage off when it comes to pricing. They even gave me a discount. They are honest and very nice! This shop has to be the best that I've visited in my 9 years of driving. The plastic underneath my car had fallen off and needed to be fixed immediately. I just bought a new Outback from Koester Automotive. It was the typical sales situation. I got an okay deal... not a great deal... somehow I expected a slightly more "human" approach from a Subaru dealer... and especially in Sherman Oaks... Nope... it was just another typical car buying experience. Nothing special like they promise... One thing concerns me: There are a LOT of bad reviews here on Yelp about the service department...

When I got into my first car accident and was looking for a body shop near by to fix car, my friend recommended me this place. Since that me and my family going only to this guys. Why? At 1st stuff is nice and helpful. 2nd they fast, responsible and doing legit job. On my second accident Sam even helped me with a car renting. Great place to get your car fixed.

Came in with a check engine light, Ben said the diagnostic would cost $50. Takes a day to figure out the problem. Charges me $175 claiming it was extra hard to diagnose, then tells me that the repairs will cost $807. Took it to Paul’s Automotive, and they fixed it for $320. Car is fine now. Ben is one of those mechanics every person should stay clear of.

So far the communication has been great. The owner really went above and beyond to help me out. My car got broken into and the back glass was smashed along with some scratches on the trunk. I got turned down by several other body shops but CCC took on the job no problem. Repairs are not done yet but I don't expect anything to go wrong.

Highly recommended. Ben was extremely accommodating and professional. Something that would have taken a couple of days to fix, he did it in 2 days and the quality and results were 5 stars.
