This is a fairly hands on museum for family and kids. Not so much for people without kids. Lots of horses, cows, pigs, chickens, bees, etc. to learn about and interact with. There is a hand on baking class where kids can help make cookies. The old tractor area was cool. We arrived too late to attend the butter and ice cream making events around midday that probably would have been fun so it would be worth arriving in the morning. There are some plaques for adults to read about farming, food production and preservation, canola oil, etc. But it's hard to read up on these things when you've brought kids who want to run off and see the next coolest thing ASAP lol. The museum is free after 3:30pm, on weekdays anyway, so if you want a quick glimpse of the animals this would be a fun and cheap activity for kids.

We went early on a sat, parking is almost 10$ for the whole visit, parking was easy at 9am tons of space not too busy- would highly recommend downloading the app to pay for parking as there just aren’t enough pay stations for the size of the parking lot. The farm itself is an absolute hit with the kids. Horses, pigs, sheep, goats, cows, chickens and more. A good balance of indoor and outdoor space for a nice sunny day, bring lunch and have a picnic there is a large green space or picnic tables. An awesome play structure for the kids. By the time we were leaving at 12 it was super busy, the parking lot was so busy (this was a weekend- not so bad on a weekday) Overall had a great time, lots to do, tons to learn!

Ottawa has some amazing Museums. Unfortunately this is not one of them. Somehow there is no food available at a food museum. You can go through the whole thing in like an hour. Animals look miserable, have VERY limited space. The hogs hardly have enough room to stretch out and their only entertainment is a toy on a chain in the tiny little pen. Not only was this museum boring and disappointing, it left us feeling very sad the rest of the day. Parking is $3.75 per half hour. I am a museum person, this was hands down the worst one I've been to anywhere. There's some better local petting zoos and park omega only an hour away.

We took our kids there for the first time during our trip to Ottawa. The kids said it was their favourite museum ever and wanted to stay there and not leave. They loved getting up close to the farm animals and learning all about different aspects of farming. The hourly demos were very interesting and informative. What a great place to visit! I think it's important these days in our risk averse world to let kids experience a bit of farm life which fulfills one of our basic needs. One tip for visiting for the entire day - should bring your own lunch as they don't have a cafeteria. We didn't know and didn't bring lunch but they were good about letting me run out to grab something and come back in.

I took my four year old on a Saturday morning. Still operating under pandemic restrictions as of our visit in late August 2021, tickets must be purchased online before arrival. There are many buildings, exhibits and barns to experience. There are a lot of bathrooms, and handwashing stations near animal exhibits. There is a small playground in the middle of the museum which my son really enjoyed. The Learning Center is maybe a bit too advanced for someone his age, and a lot of the kiosks inside were closed for safety reasons (I'm guessing pandemic related). There is at least one place to refill your water bottle, but no water fountains are operating. All in all a great experience.

  • Zena

My children love this museum! The staff are super knowledgeable regarding the animals and take their time answering any questions the children might have. The measures put into place during the pandemic are great with hand sanitizer available everywhere and visits to the museum by reservation only. There were visitors when we went but it wasn’t too crowded and we were able to take our time viewing the animals. Before the pandemic, there was a nice play structure for the children (which was closed when we visited) and birthdays were always a blast here!

Great museum for families. The map is not clear enough, but it was easy to find the different parts of the complex. My son loved the small animal barn, the horses, the story/craft session, and the demonstration kitchen. We got to try different sorts of apples and the apple sauce made from local apples. I just wish there was a restaurant or coffee there to get lunch bu there were many tables to eat and there were vending machines for drinks and snacks.

A great way to spend an afternoon. A huge variety of farm animals could be seen: horses, lots of cows, pigs of different colors along with some babies, chicken, rabbits and more. Keeping in mind that it was a farm the area was clean. A park was available for the children to play in. There was a lot of room to eat or rest in the shade. I did not see any restaurant or anywhere to purchase food. Every exit of every building had soap dispenser to protect both the visitor and the animals. The kids and I learned a bunch of facts about farming.

Animals are great , kept in good condition. We didn’t find a schedule of demos on the website, no info on barns as well. Once we accidentally watched lama’s demo. I wish exhibitions were more kids friendly in terms of information delivery. The Aquaculture exhibition could have at least some aquariums with algae, molluscs and fishes. Many demo objects are not functioning. A bit disappointing. That’s why I give 3*. Nice territory, very friendly staff. Fun activity for small kids.

Lots of fun to spend few hours here with my daughter. Animals are treated well, they are very calm and photo opportunity friendly. The staff are very nice and they keep everywhere very clean, including the area where the animals live. There are informative wall and installation about the making of canola oil and presentation for eggs. The presenter girl is doing great who is nice, catched children attention, informative, inspiring with bilingual (English & French). Everywhere is themed with Easter eggs as this is April! :)

  • Peter Stassen

We visited the museum on July 3. There is parking at the museum (9 CAD for the day). Kids will like the animals and adults will like the rapeseed and aquaculture exhibit. There is explanation for young and old at certain hours. These are in different locations, so you need to be well organized if you want to see them all. Making ice cream with an old 19th century ice cream machine with tasting is not to be missed.

I have been visiting the Agriculture museum for years now with my 3 nephews, the most recently being Canada Day (when admission is free)! There are some really informative exhibits, especially the canola one, but you just can’t beat seeing all the animals up close, and even getting to pet some. The dairy barn is my favourite for sure! Specifically on canada day, they had food trucks there as well (one was the Merry Dairy ice cream truck).

Such a beautiful farm and museum! Staff are all very friendly and answer all your questions. Pretty clean too considering it's a working farm. We had a great time visiting and meeting some animals, and can't wait to come back. We spent a couple hours here but if it wasn't as hot as it was we would have spent the day. Lots to do and learn about!

Great place to spend time with family. The staffs are friendly and will be happy to answer if you have any questions. They have a children playground also lots of benches to sit. Great interactive learning session in the learning center too, I wish they had a cafeteria. 4-5pm is free for a visit. Update -- Sundays are extremely busy

I have gone multiple times with kids as young as 2 years old. The kids LOVED it and continue to talk their time for months following the experience. There were lots of fun activities and engaging opportunities for the kids to learn. There was a huge number of animals that the kids could get up close and personal with.

A truly fantastic experience for children and adults alike. There's enough here that's genuinely interesting at an adult level that it's worth visiting just to learn about farming and the food production industry. But of course the real fun is with kids who get a chance to see farm animals up close and personal. It's an pretty amazing thing to have right in the middle of the city. Well worth the visit.

  • Andrew McDonald

Came here with the whole family. It was a great chance to explore and be outside. We checked out the various sessions during the day. It helped us to explore. Will come back with some others during the summer to give them a chance to experience it. The animals were a highlight for us to see. We didn't get a chance to find the area that one can feed the animals but will look for it when we return.

  • Samuel Yau

You don’t get more real than this getting up close to cows , goats , and other animals. It features a great range of exhibits to emphasis Canada’s agricultural contribution such as canola seed evolution and oil. There is also live show such as creating your own ice cream. Highly recommended for kids .

Great for kids and easily accessible. We have membership pass and this is a great way to spend a couple of hours. We saw horses, donkeys, cows, Yamaha, ducks, chickens and pigs! Very educational for the little ones and you can bring your own food and drink making it a cheap option if looking to save some money. Can't wait till it's summer again to make the most of the layout.

  • Adam Bainbridge

Fun place to visit and learn about farming. Rather expensive though for what is essentially a vosot to a farm with some signage. Demonstration kitchen, although a nice space with loads of potential, should be hosted by someone who knows how to prepare what is being demonstrated without relying on a recipe. Good for 1 - 2 hours and I would recommend this museum.

  • Zofia Mazurek-Durlak

Very interesting museum. You should be aware that some places are one direction not to spread germs from humans to animals. You should not touch cows. There is nice playground for children. If there were a real cafeteria it would be great. So far you can buy snacks including peanuts and bottled drinks.

Great please for kids. Walking areas are all paved and concrete and the whole facility is very clean. Lots of animals and you get right up close to them. Very informative too if you read everything. They have a play structure and outdoor eating areas. They also have an indoor eating area with a vending machine. There is a chip wagon on site.

Really interesting learning place, my 3 year old loved it. Such a variety of activities and information, you can't be bored. We loved the bread making class and the planter simulation. Playground is great and washrooms are clean. Would recommend!

Great place for young children to roam around and see lots of animals in essentially a live farm. Multple buildings housing animals of each type. Washroom and water stations all around. Occasional interactive activities such as petting the rabbits and learning about baby cows. Info boards all about. There's a playground as well.

  • Oksana K.

Spring is the best time to come here - you can see lots of cute baby animals starting in March! The small animal barn with goats and sheep is always my favourite. The museum is free to access after 4pm each day (need to book in advance due to COVID restrictions) but be aware, the dairy barn closes at 4:30, so check it out first.

The museum often has special events happening. Great for younger and older children, there are indoor and outdoor areas available for viewing the animals. You can pet the cows and other animals as they are friendly. The baby donkey was definitely a main attraction - especially near closing time when the animals are being fed!

A good day for the family to break the usual routine Kids love it. They used to have pony but not anymore and they used to have animals free cage so the kinds can cuddle and interact with animals but not anymore. Over all good experience.

Would love to come back time and time again (despite its location to which public OC Transpo routes can hardly access) !! It offers such a great opportunity to embrace the nature and spend quality time with those adorable creatures! Nearby there’s also great little gardens that brighten the summer views!

Lots of fun for my 4yo. We did the tour twice. It took about 2h. Lots of tables to eat and rest. On the other side of the road there's that magnificent park. I left my car in the museum parking lot and went to the park. I can't wait to try the museum it again when all the expos will be opened

I used to take my children there when there were young. Good place for kids and anybody that wants to know about farming. I recommend take your family there. It's a nice site to see all the beautiful animals and nice people. And you get to experience. Rides and other fun activity's.

Wonderful museum in the south end of Ottawa, not super easy to get to by bus, but it was walkable for me. This would be a great day out for the kids. There's so much to learn and interact with, all about the history of Canadian farming and agriculture. A great day overall!

I wish there was even more to see here! It's a lovely space and gives you a chance to meet some friendly people and some mellow animals. It's not a petting zoo, and the animals are less stressed for it. Bring a lunch, some hand sanitizer and amble about.

  • Pablo Listingart

Really cool museum. Probably not as good as the Science or Aviation, but still really well done. It is small, but with a lot of things for the kids to learn and play. The staff is really friendly and depending on the time of the day is not too crowded.

  • SMTM Co

Enjoyed walking around the museum and seeing the animals. Quick warning - the pig area is not for the queasy, as the smell can be a bit overwhelming. Lots of great open spaces to sit and have a picnic, as well as a park area for the kiddies to play.

So much to see, a whole day would not be enough! I think it's so important to educate children in a world where they don't even know that the chicken nuggets their LOVE so much come from.... A chicken! Enjoy your moment! More

A wonderful museum with cute animals, informative exhibitions and lots of outdoor space to enjoy on a beautiful day. Perfect for families with kids who love animals and have a curiosity of what a real working farm is like.

Amazing. Went there for second time and can't explain how good it is. If you have kids, it's a must go in Ottawa. The animal barns are a sure attraction, but the main highlight is the cow milking station. Go at least once!
