Candied Bakery, a cozy nook brimming with an array of pastries, breads, and rolls, is a true gem. Visiting on a bustling Saturday, a brief 5-minute queue was a small hurdle easily overcome for the treasure trove that awaited us. The display of croissants and pastries beckoned with their irresistible allure. Succumbing to the temptation, we opted for the goat cheese with zucchini pastry, the eggplant chickpea with halloumi pastry, and the Danish strawberry pastry. Each choice was a revelation in flavor. The goat cheese and zucchini pastry offered a delightful blend of savory goodness, while the eggplant chickpea with halloumi surprised with its rich, harmonious medley of tastes. To finish, the Danish strawberry pastry, a sweet indulgence that left a lingering, delightful tang. Candied Bakery easily earns a hearty recommendation for fellow food enthusiasts. The quality and taste of their offerings make it a must-visit. As for me, I've already set my sights on a return trip to explore more of their tempting creations. It's a haven for those seeking exceptional pastries that tantalize the taste buds and leave you yearning for more.

We drove 40mins cause we were after a good bakery. We definitely found it. The line was outside the door so we knew things had to be good. The beef pie was really yum. The pastry was so fluffy and beautifully textured and the flavours in the meat balanced beautifully. We also had the sausage rolls (both char-siu and beef sausage rolls). The beef was amazing. The char-siu was still nice. Beautifully Asian inspired flavours too. Then because our eyes are bigger than our stomachs we got cakes, and all I can say is “We didn’t regret a single bite”. We loved it here and would happily return. And just as an added (weird) point, I especially loved the take away containers. Usually bakeries give you a cardboard box in a paper bag and everything turns soggy, but not at CandiED bakery. Everything was fresh and still tasty throughout the day.

> Key Lime Pie ✅ > Carrot Cake ✅ > Pie ✅ > Coffee, horrible ❌ > Service, OK. Worth the visit - most definitely, just be prepared to wait in line as this place gets extremely busy. **edit in response to the owner** Thank you kindly for taking the time to respond to my review. My coffee was so burnt and so hot that the milk curdled. I had one sip and chucked it out. My partner who ordered a short macchiato also experienced the same issue (albeit his coffee wasn’t too hot just extremely burnt). It was extremely busy at the coffee machine so I suspect the barista at the time wanted to reduce the number of coffee dockets they had. I have experienced this before when places get really busy, so perhaps training or extra support for a barista during extremely busy periods is worth it. Just to reiterate, everything else was delicious!

I drove by at 11am on a Sunday and the line was out the door and past the next shop. I’m not local but was headed to Scienceworks. On the way home the line was gone so I stopped in to ask if I could have what everyone else was having. It turns out that there is no specific item everyone is queuing for, it’s everything. So I picked the three milk cake and the lime/ginger tart. The milk cake was incredible, ultra moist and melts in your mouth. Cross between a sponge and a pudding. Husband said he wants a whole one for his birthday. The tart was also gorgeous. Thick crispy ginger biscuit base and smooth creamy lime buttery topping. I’ll be back to try the rest. Blown away by how good this place is.

Finally got around to trying this place out after many, many recommendations and, despite the hype, it still managed to go beyond my expectations. I had the reuben roll/sandwich, which had a generous serving of corned beef, a delicious fresh sauerkraut (that had touch of bite in it), and just the right amount of dressing. After giving that some time to settle, I indulged on a piece of the honey cake which is easily the best honey cake I've had. Not too sweet, with a noticeable honey flavour and fantastic texture, I couldn't recommend it highly enough. I can't wait to go there again and try some of the other options.

Bread is delicious - they are sourdough experts - the jalapeño bread is exquisite. The fruit loaf os very rich and toasted with butter would taste even nicer! The olive loaf was also delish .. what could be picked up on as a needed improvement is the costumer service, a bit underwhelming .. the staff member was boasting how they always run out of bread and they don’t know what they can suggest for first timers … now that we tried we can suggest the jalapeño for sure for a snack and the olive loaf would suit best with a cheese on top! Would definitely come back

Honestly the BEST cinnamon scrolls I've ever had. I'm a cinnamon scroll lover, and I've eaten them all over Melbourne. The Basque cheesecake was also incredible, as was the ham and pickle baguettes. Beautiful food, I can see why they're so busy. Don't get discouraged if you see a lime out the door, it always moves quickly as they're very efficient in serving customers. I'll try the coffee and some other food next time I visit and update my review

There’s always a line out the door every time we go here. That must say something about the quality of goods here. The coffee here is average but the cakes and pastries are top tier. A popular item is the Philly cheese steak but I feel it can be a bit too greasy. Maybe something to share if you wanted to try. I prefer the pastrami Reuben roll as the sauerkraut breaks up the meat nicely and the bun is nice and crispy The cinnamon scroll is also delicious if you’re looking for something sweet.

After being tempted by all the delicious looking pastries and goodies on display during my coffee runs, decided to stop here for lunch one day and was not disappointed! I tried the mushroom Philly cheese roll ($13) and it was sooo good I think I fell in love. Came warmed up and made fresh for me and I still remember that tasty aroma , bread was so soft, filling was perfection, and well flavoured and cheesy YUM I could eat this every day !!

  • Nina Monger

So good! Went for lunch with a group after our yoga class on a Saturday. Got a table inside without too much trouble. There was a constant stream of people queueing at the counter to buy their delicious goodies the whole time we were there but the queue moves quickly because the staff have a really good system going. Really good food, coffee, cakes and bread. Great staff. Basic but comfortable seating. The key lime pie was divine!

  • --

Good times for great pastry! When we arrived there was a queue about 7 deep outside waiting to go in to order. Tried the Hot Cross Donut ($5.60), Pastry Cream Croissant ($5.80), Nutella Croissant ($5.80) and Cinnamon Scroll. All excellent but we’re used to our cinnamon scrolls a little less ‘undercooked’? Would return to try their signature Pistachio Cream Croissant ($5.80) and their savoury rolls/baguettes/focaccias

  • Abhinav Bidani

Outstanding bakery to satisfy any sweet or savoury cravings! This is a very popular place and often has a long line to enter but it’s very much worth the wait. They’ve got a range of pastries, cakes, croissants, pies, sausage rolls! Hard to pick just a few but we ordered the cream cheese, custard & almond pastry as well as the vanilla slice donut…and far out they were super delicious. You can order custom cakes too!

  • Jessica Boyde

Spontaneously stumbled across Candied Bakery when visiting Scienceworks. A great variety of pies, sausage rolls, pastries, cakes and slices. Coffee was pleasant - the cappuccino was served with too much milk (a personal preference). The bourbon pecan pie was amazing and worth the calories. The staff member who served us was helpful enough but needed encouragement. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our first visit!

  • Jenny Daicos

We bought some cakes & bread here today. What a gorgeous delightful array of delicious goodies! So happy to support a small business baking with passion . Definitely worth the visit

Carrot and walnut cake was divine - moist, good icing, generous amount of nuts and a cornucopia of spices (I tasted nutmeg, cinnamon). The shop girl wasn't exaggerating when she said everything was good. Also had the lemon slice donut, quite interesting. Need to come back to try the tres leches and chocolate cake, key lime pie, jam filled donut... List goes on

  • denver fernandes

Amazing variety, everything looked really good. We ordered the Philly Cheesesteaks, maccadamia mille-feuille and Nutella Croissant. All 3 items were so good (10/10) We also ordered coffees and the coffees(Mocha, Cappuccino) were avg, a bit to milky for our liking. P.s we got to eager and ate the food before taking pics. Will upload food pics next time

  • Adam M

Stopped by breakfast as we usually drive past most mornings & theirs always a line to get in. We grabbed the egg sandwhichs, bread was fresh though the scrambled eggs must’ve been cooked the night before & reheated in the microwave the next morning. It was a combination of hot & cold eggs. Probably wouldn’t visit again due to the above

  • Stephanie Rose

Honestly I don’t believe you can go wrong with any item from this incredible bakery. Lines are usually out the door so prepare for a bit of a wait but I assure you it will be completely worth it! Stand outs were definitely the key lime pie and the vanilla slice donut. Insanely good! My partner asks if we can go back constantly …

  • Lucy McGrath

Absolutely delicious - I’ve tried near everything here and head my warning: you NEED to get the confit garlic and cheese sourdough loaf, it is off the charts! Their bread in general is 11/10 and their pastries are amazing. Personally recommend their cinnamon scrolls, almond croissants, Mississippi mud pie and jam donuts!

  • Lily Banana

The food is consistent in taste and has a point of difference. It's a not an everyday kind of bakery for me, but more of a treat. There is always queues at busy times, which shows how popular the place is, but can put you off standing in the queue at those times. The staff are consistently polite and even friendly. More

  • S Mamidi

From savoury to sweets with good portions at a reasonable prices. Busy all the time with line out the door. Some of my favourites are milk cake with good moist, pistachio croissant with perfect sweet and hot chocolate. Did I mention about their bread collection. The smell of freshly bake gives everyone morning highness

  • Peter Lennox

Everything they make is AMAZING. Highly recommend the Philly cheese steak or the pork sausage rolls.

Went on Saturday afternoon. Bought 2 cakes. Just delish!! The New York cheesecake is so fluffy, surprisingly not dense or heavy at all. The pastel cake is another heavenly creation, pastry, dulce de leche and buttercream, phenomenal! Will definitely come back to try all the other savoury and sweet delights

  • Alisdair Horgbury

An excellent choice with a top quality selection and friendly attentive service. I particularly liked the Halloumi pastie as a vegetarian option. Coffee was perfectly done to taste, it's pointless trying to find a better coffee nearby, it was so good. Blew $30 here and have no regrets. It's pretty special.

  • Reannan Duong

I needed a last minute cake order and they were so kind to make it work. Very happy with service and would love to come back again. It was also very delicious!

Seriously good bakery, I think the char sui pork sausage roll might be the best I've ever had. Philly steak sandwich is really great too. Lots of options to please kids including soft serve and prices are very reasonable considering the quality and compared to other inner suburbs bakeries.

  • Elliot G

One of Melbourne's best bakeries and the queues on a weekend do not lie. Be it bread, pies, sausage rolls, it's all quality and some of the tastiest stuff in the west. Croissants that could be some of Melbourne's best. Together with Proud Mary coffee it makes for an excellent morning out.

  • Jordan Partridge

Simply put, this is the best bakery in Melbourne. Love everything they do. From the milk cake, to the cookies to the vanilla slice donuts. Ridiculously good. The only way it could be better would for them not to be a 1 hour + drive for me to get there. Still 5 stars though. Love them!!!

  • Debbie Nik

Absolutely delicious!!! The staff were so nice and was able to accomodate my pre order with a small time frame. The fairy bread cake was so nice, sweet and light, the white chocolate drip was the highlight. Been here for pastries and coffee as well, haven’t been disappointed.

  • Franga

The beef pie was better than expected. Nothing like a proper chunky steak in your meat pie. If I hadn't already left I'd have bought another. I'll definitely come back.

I love everything about this place. Their cinnamon rolls are insanely good, as well as the pretzel brownie and the pastel cake. The onion and garlic sourdough? It’s all amazing and while your wallet might regret a visit, your tastebuds never will! …

  • Kelly Leong

Walked past and randomly chose this bakery and it was delightful. We were glad we went in! We had the Le Chippy Dog which was absolutely delicious along with Vanilla Slice Donut & Triple Coconut cake. Each selection was incredible and tasty. Highly recommended.

  • Rebecca Swinton

Amazing selection of diverse, american inspired bakery treats. If you have room don't forget to try the savouries the chunky beef pie and the pasties never disappoint. Gets extremely busy on weekends because the food is so good so try and get in before lunch.

  • Vaman Gungaram

Legendary tres leches cake. I'd definitely come back, maybe even once a week. The key lime pie I had was also very good. Can't believe I've been travelling past Spotswood all this while and never bothered to listen to all the good reviews about this place.

  • Robert Bartlett

This is a really great bakery with friendly knowledgeable staff. The bread is interesting & delicious, lots of great cakes, doughnuts, and sweet things, great pies & pumpkin pastie, and an amazing spanakopita. I come here every week. Highly recommended.

  • Katherine Milliken

Yassss! So good! Today we were greeted with a smile and friendly service. We had the Chippy Dog - excellent, vanilla soft serve - YUM, and tried two pies - best pie crust! We’ll be back for sure because there were lots of treats I’d like to sample!

  • Jenny Tran

Decided to try their baked goods out and had to come back the next day as it was so delicious! Tried the cinnamon scroll, pistachio croissant on one day, the next day had the focaccia and spanikopita. All delicious and the service was outstanding!

  • Ashlyn Ryan

This bakery is fantastic - have had many things (savoury and sweet) and never leave disappointed. The turnovers are incredible, also love the pastry cream croissant and pork sausage roll. Be prepared to wait in line if you go on the weekend!

  • Brett Bobridge

Curried pumpkin, lentil, holoumi and chich pea pasties, needing say more. Insanely good Have to add to this revue, Brilliant employee convinced me to try the home made sauce for said pasties. Had a circus of flavours in my mouth

  • Dom Che

The tres leches cake was amazing! I have not come across many places that do this cake so it was a real treat to find it here and down well. The sausage roll was good as was the croissant but I was not to sold on their “pizzas”

  • Charles Costello

Would recommend the Philly Cheese Steak here or any of the breakfast rolls. Wish they had more of these bakeries around Melbourne, becoming quite a rare treat! Fairly priced cafe with great service; clearly loved by the locals.

  • Fatimah

Usually a good experience here, unfortunately the staff seemed distracted when they took my order. Opened my take away box at home to find the wrong item, I'll check next time and it'll probably be a 5-star review.

  • Daniela Kustec

One of the best bakeries in West Melbourne and we are lucky to live close by. I had my chicken curry pie here..best I ever had.. cakes are out of this world and my day cake was also just amazing!!! A real gem

  • Ong C

Candied Bakery located in Spotswood, Victoria has very good bakes. Lots of cakes and pastries  choices from the display. Very popular bakery among locals which you find there's long queues at times.

  • Alice Hall

I've had to return products to this place several times because they were raw in the middle. Staff couldn't care less. Could use some upskilling in customer service if you want return business.

  • TinMan Of Aus

A very popular bakery on the westside, and deservedly so. They mix traditional baked goods with innovative, edgy flavours which satisfied my sweet tooth. Definitely worth the visit.

  • Chris D

Standout bakery with amazing number of pastry & baked food options! Both savoury & sweet, all quality & frequently delicious. Pro tip: Don’t go past the often-missed Milkshakes!

  • Wei Ng

The infamous macadamia mille-feuille is crispy, creamy, nutty, with hint of caramel sprinkles on top, perfect with a cup of tea. Front staff are friendly, I’m happy …

  • Lauren

Drove 20 mins here based on a recommendation and it was worth it. Great beef pie, and almond croissant was perfect. A little on the pricey side but I think it was worth it

  • R Nasralla

Steak sandwich is tasty and filling. They also have a good range of sweets, donuts and pastries. Only critic is the vegan raspberry cake topping/icing tasted so oily.

  • Rhys Thomas

Lucky to live near Candied! This is my fav bakery. Customer service is top notch even with a line out the door 3 shops down the street. Worth the 15 minute wait!

  • Peter W

Great bakery with fantastic pies, sausage rolls, bread and pastries. Don't be surprised to find a queue outside during lunch hours, so go early if you're hungry!

  • Nam Tonthat

Got the tres leches cake and also the key lime pie. We liked the key lime pie more than the tres leches cake but also heard amazing things about the candied pie.

  • Katherine Hsiung

Candied used to have the best almond croissant in Melbourne, but unfortunately looks like they change the recipe, still taste good but not as amazing as before.

  • Christine Nguyen

Best bakery ever. Tres lèche cake is INSANE and I’ve gone back every week for the past three weeks to order the pork char siu sausage roll. …
