some members of the leadership team at canturbury believe that it’s appropriate to use fear as a way to gain respect and use it to control students, little do they know that’s no way to create a trusting and comfortable environment where their is mutual respect between staff and students. they claim they are preparing young women for “the real world” where they use their ridiculous, old fashioned uniform policy to determine a students value based on their appearance. they are so determined to maintain their precious reputation that they prioritise it over the wellbeing of their students. Because of the lack of trust and respect in the culture at the school, a lot of the staff have no idea how to connect with the students and form respectful relationships with them, which is essential in every school environment if they want students to be happy and feel safe. They handle matters such as bullying and go about a lot of situations the wrong way. the school is RUN by incredibly old-fashioned teachers. This school is not progressive and constantly demeans the young women of the school breaking their spirit. large portions of students move schools after year 7 and every other year after that because they can’t put up with the nonsense any more. canturbury is uninspiring, backward and not a nice school environment.

Severely underfunded, no one to blame however worrying when buildings need renovations. Investing in the wrong areas such as louvered windows, double railings and doors for hallways that have neither heating nor air conditioning therefore completely redundant. Cleaning is done only once in a while. Self-explanatory. Understaffed, unable to support students AND teachers. On multiple occasions teachers are brought back from retirement. Some teachers are trying their hardest however if they don't know the content how can they teach it? Priorities are scuffed, lack of concern when it comes to microaggressions towards people of color from peers and teachers. On multiple occasions students of ethnic backgrounds are targeted for things that go unnoticed when from those of Anglo-Saxon backgrounds. Bias towards subjects, students who study French were given the opportunity to visit abroad but students who study Japanese are neglected and requests from them are always "pending". School does not value feedback as it does not concern itself with it in the first place. However, standing against bullying amongst students is a strong notion the school enforces. Can only defend the school with it could be worse. The neighborhood is safe. School is small but alright.

I don't understand all the negativity review about the school. My child thrived in this school and felt safe and supported. The teachers are great and they are a bit strict, but thats a good thing, much better than all the drama played out on discord chats in surrounding co-ed school. My daughter got in both Mac Rob for year 9 and a near by private girl school on sc'ship and we did not leave because my daughter likes the traditional feel and value of the school. If your daughter likes freedom to do whatever she wants, then this is not the school for you. The school ground is not big, if you are after a school focus on sports achievement, then look elsewhere. Class sizes are small, the teachers are pretty respectful of you if you listen and do your work. As a parent, I am very happy with the school and my daughter made wonderful friends heading into VCE years.

My year during Yr 7 was horrible. At the start it was alright, but at the end of term 4 it was the worst, making me feel horrible. I had a problem with one of my classmates and the Yr 7 coordinator didn't do anything, told me to stop using less social media and how this issue was out of school hours. The person I had a issue with, went to the office to talk about her well being, clearly mine and my friends didn't matter. The day after, she told my sister that her and I shouldn't talk about the LGBTQ+ community near the music staff. I don't understand why they have a problem with it?? It does alright academically but the school is horrible with dealing with certain issues.

Great school. The girls are nice and welcoming. Majority of the teachers are amazing and try their hardest to help you. However, there are a few dodgy teachers. The facilities are alright but they could be better. The school grounds are very small leaving little space to play sport. The winter uniform is not the best but the summer uniform is beautiful. The school isn't that strict with their uniform. They NEED to put air conditioning in A block because in summer it is horrible. The bus system also needs some work. The assistant principle isn't the nicest or welcoming person to new students and parents and the office ladies can sometimes be rude.

come here if u wanna feel gum underneath desks, see walls fall down ( c block), food all over the floors and tables, 10 different types of perfume at the lockers (all at once), have discord banned (even at home bro idek), have your classmates go to juvie, not be able to go to the toilet without signing a book (that has to go into the bathroom w u), clogged and broken toilets w/ no tp, and more!!! would vote 10/5 if i could, this has to be the best wannabe private school ever.

Excellent school! My daughter studied in this school from yr7-12. Most teachers especially vce teachers were great. They had good positive relationships with the students. They were excellent in teaching when my daughter was studying there over 6 years. She received 6 medical schools offers after she graduated from Canterbury Girls Secondary College.

Old fashioned school. Ridiculous out of date rules. Girls are wrapped in cotton wool. No socialisation with other boys schools in the area . So important for these young girls . No wonder so many of the girls leave and are miserable at the school . Interesting to note they are struggling to get numbers to enrol each year.

Some students good, some students bad. Some teachers good, some teachers bad. new desks needed, new change rooms needed, better air conditioning in B block needed, dont make students do a language until year 10, and a C block wall fell down lol. Overall we need a better curriculum and to be more organised :)

You will not find a more archaic system. The 2022 Senate Parliament Committee finds it "deeply troubling [with] gatekeeping practices, inadequate consultation [and] lack of appropriate adjustments..." This is exactly what is on offer at Canterbury Girls.

Ha, I find it funny a lot of parents are reviewing this - they don't really know the harsh dark side of it. Most of the teachers are rather harsh, they'll single you out and there, you've been embarrassed in front of everyone. Theres gum everywhere too

The school's inadequate funding resulted in a subpar educational experience. While the initial year, year seven, was manageable, the situation deteriorated significantly thereafter. I would strongly advise against enrolling in this institution.

  • Sarah Cameron

Its alright, but has a lot of improvement to go, the rules are outdated, the uniform is...ew. There is no contact with the community. The teachers don't care about your learning.

  • Piper Mitchell

Honestly amazing! I miss this school so much, its kinda sad i graduated. Hopefully one day me and rose will come here again.

  • Ajay Sachdeva

One of the top 10 public schools in Melbourne. Strong focus on academic and music curriculum.

  • Sawant Sheetal

I only rate this college because I heard that this is the school/college Park Rosé studied

  • Jason Tooway

Good location, however the staff don't seem to be fully engaged in teaching the students.

  • serennette

Everyone is talking about Rose (Blackpink) when she doesnt have anything to do with this
