Place was lovely... but had dramas with the food... went to the counter to order my meal... ordered salmon which had salad and chips as the choice I wanted but asked if I could have sweet potato chips instead of normal chips... she said she would check with the kitchen... she came back and told me they would not swap them over... I asked if they had a side of sweet potato chips and she said yes so I ordered it... I paid $30 for the fish and $10 for a huge bowl of sweet potato chips with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce... what is wrong with these kitchens... I thought they were their to supply customer service... its not as if they didn't have what I wanted... I have a condition that doesn't allow me to eat normal potatoes but they are just not interested... maybe the chef is the one from the Roaring Frill that refused me the same thing there. 5 star rating for everything else but Zero stars for the kitchen.

A couple of the family's meals were alright, but the $32 200 gram steak we ordered as "medium" was brought to us as "burnt". All you could taste when eating it was bitter charcoal. For a family night out, costing $147... the quality really wasn't there for the price tag. There was also no compensation offered for the poorly cooked steak. This was a disappointing experience. Edit: Regarding the response from the owner below. Soon after receiving that response I emailed Andrew, outlining my disappointments with their food and service. It's now been months and he hasn't bothered to respond. It seems that his response was only an attempt to raise their appearance publicly, not to actually resolve anything. I've downgraded my review from 2-star to 1-star.

Found the food luke warm and my husbands order was wrong. He asked for catch of the day. They said he ordered fish of the day. The difference in price was about $15. So he ended up taking the meal they gave him but he had paid for the most expensive meal. When he was after the cheaper one. But I must say most of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Except the one serving us our meal. They blamed my husband for ordering the wrong thing when they didn't listen properly and took the order incorrectly. So will we go back there. No unfortunately not. The place was looked very nice but the food wasn't the best. We had a large group with us and have heard similar reports.

Absolutely amazing pub. Fantastic meals, jaz would have to be the best bar maid by far! Always brings a smile and a positive attitude. Makes you feel welcome and always enjoys a laugh. So if your just after a cold one or a nice hot meal come to the Carlyle hotel

Tonight we went to the bistro here to attend an 18th birthday party.The meals took along time to come out and when they did there were issues with them , took a stubby of beer when one of the patrons went to the toilet that was half full,when asked to supply plates with the birthday cake we were told to use serviettes, when asked for a spatula to assist with serving the cake we were told they didn't have one to which I replied what do you flip your eggs with.They came out with a large soup spoon . very pathetic service won't be going back.staff there were two young girls that obviously needed customer service training

We visited the Carlyle Hotel for a lunchtime meal. We were a group of 8 and got a table without a reservation with no trouble. We tried the new me&u ordering system direct from our table. It was easy to use but I still managed to make a few mistakes but the staff were very happy to amend them for us. The meals were tasty and well sized. The delivery was a bit staggered and the kids icecream was forgotten when other desserts were delivered but we got them after a reminder. Overall, it was a lovely lunch. Great atmosphere and setting for a lunchtime catchup. Tidy and well presented and well priced meals. Will go again.

My recent visit was not as I had hoped it to be. Whilst we were on a bigger table and it was a busy night is really no excuse. We waited a long time to order and a long time for our meals. When the food did come out it was cold and not pleasant at all. At least two of the meals were inedible as they had a strange taste. My steak was charred to practically burnt in places and very inconsistently cooked. When this was told to the staff, the reply was "oh we were busy", not good enough really. Will be a while before go back again.

This used to be our weekly local go to for a good cheap meal. The staff were always friendly and the food was always great. THIS IS NOT THE CASE ANYMORE!!! The staff member I encountered on my last visit was rude and abrupt. The quality of the food had gone down. But over all the food was still ok, it was the way this woman (whom seem to be in a manager position or something similar) spoke to my sister and my self was just not okay. This spoiled my family’s entire dining experience. We won’t be back anytime soon.

Specifically booked a small dinner table near the playground window to keep an eye out for my daughter (who's quite slippery). Was greeted by Andrew who insisted there was nowhere available except the table furthest away from the requested area, "it's that or nothing" he said. As a result I almost lost my girl out the front door due to poor vision. There were 3 empty tables in the desired area the whole time. My daughter's safety is not worth one man's rude ego. The wait staff were wonderful. Food was ok.

This place has been a family go to for many years, they always provide a good service and have friendly staff. Although lately the food has gone down hill, we are all struggling with COVID but definitely meals have gone from an A, to F the last meals we had there were appeared and tasted like an out of the fridge microwave meal. Was left very disappointed, especially for the prices of those said meals. It's a shame we were let down with this as we won't be back for a little while.

I was disappointed in the service and the meals. First of all why bother having table numbers when the staff come out with meals yelling out who ordered the seafood basket.?? I was seated with one other person on a table for two. We both ordered at the same time. My order came out last. 35 minutes after the persons I was with. It was dry and un edible. I have never been there before and I can say with certainty I’ll never go there again.

What can I say except just love love this place! Recently organised a dinner for a certain amount of people and, had unexpected guests show up! The staff were just champions and bought more chairs over for the additional people! Nothing was too much trouble and staff accommodated us very well! Even though they were extremely busy. Food was great but really the staff were the hero's. Keep up the great vibe and customer's will always return.

Went for lunch. Service was very slow with meals coming out at different times. Kids cheeseburger patties was like charcoal. Chicken parmy was quite bad, how hard is it to make a decent chicken parmigiana! Seriously. Salad was 90% lettuce with a couple of pieces of carrot and cucumber. Tartare sauce and tomato sauce came in takeaway style squeeze sachets. Chips were actually quite good. But that was it.

All but one member of staff were great the older guy in the main bar was rude didn’t want to serve my friend and I told us if we wanted drinks to go next door and started serving others at the bar, when he did serve my friend he dropped her drink order to serve other guests thankfully another member of staff finished it and apologised to her. Zero customer service from the older guy.

My mum, daughter and I had the best experience. Stayed in the family room. Clean as a whistle, we was very thankful for that. Complimentary toiletries, milk, biscuits and general tea/coffee supplies were in an abundance. Meals downstairs and a BWS. We used both. Service was fantastic in all areas! So if u want a disgusting over priced meal this is the place for you... the mega snitty is not much bigger than a kids meal one. Let alone they can't even make them themselves, they come out of a cardboard box.... Lots of variety in the food (including several vegetarian options!) but the food itself was poor in quality. Chips were bland, the veggie burger had a patty that was far too big for the bun and was hard to eat (plus the quality was average at best). May have just been because it was a busy night though. Staff weren't too bad at least.

I've been to the Carlyle hotel quite a few times but last nigh it took about a hour for our meals to arrive there was 4 of us the dining room was only 1/2 full the meals have become noticeably smaller & 2 of the 4 meals were terrible the other 2 were only average it will be a while before I go there again

Service from staff was good, unfortunately the meals were sub standard. I had a parmie and chips the chicken tasted like it had been warmed up and the chips had been sitting around for a long time. My children ate the nuggets, their chips were to the same standards as my own and the nuggets were oily. And tastes that way.

Generally a good place to stay for the price. Good location, good service, rooms were clean, bed comfortable, decor mostly refurbished. Food below was reasonable value for money. They just need to start replacing any old toilets, the cisterns get a bit noisy which gets annoying.

I recently hosted a dinner gathering at the Carlyle Hotel, and I have to admit that the food served was rather average. Despite the elegant setting and ambiance, the dishes didn't quite meet our expectations in terms of taste and presentation.

Oh Carlyle Management , when will you compliment your awesome staff with better food ? Well can’t say I was disappointed with the food as I should have known better , come on you can do better than serve takeaway food on a plate (instead of in a paper bag).

The staff here are just wonderful.Always cheerful and great service. Wine of the week is always great value as are the meals. The seniors menu has something for everyone and you can add garlic bread and/or dessert for an extra $2.50. Well worth a visit.

I ate in the bar section and they were very accommodating, switching the grilled chicken out and putting a schnitty on my ceasar on request. Delish! Clean venue, a few nice TV's around to keep you busy. Good prices. Heaps of parking and a connected BWS.

Good meals & playground is great for the kids. Too bad they encourage kids to drink soft drink. Asked if we could swap the kids soft drink that comes with the kids meals to juice, but apparently they can't do that :(
