I brought a friend here from out of town and had the most bizarre experience. Maybe it was a bad day for the staff, but the experience got worse and worse throughout the 2 hour experience. We started by asking if the NFL game could be turned on to one of the tvs. The greeter told us no and that we should leave and go to a sports bar if that is what we want. We explained that it was okay that we were just here to get some food. I ordered food and the person taking my order was not polite or helpful or friendly. He wouldn't even look at me. I asked how I would know when my food is up and he said they would call my name. I wasn't sure how he knew what that would be since he never asked. We grabbed some drinks and went outside on the patio. The bar staff was nice. After waiting for about 1 hour, I decided to go check on the food. I checked with the guy I ordered from to make sure I didn't miss my name being called. Without looking up or anything he said no you didn't. I told him that I never gave my name so I wanted to make sure they had it and I said it's under Crystal and he said they had it. I went back outside with my friends. After another 30-45 mins we saw people come out to the patio with food. We asked them how long it took and they said 15 mins. We were so confused. My friend went back up to the counter and they never made our food or had our ticket. We said we still wanted the food and they started making it. When I went up to get the food, I asked if I could see the ticket and a girl in the kitchen asked why and I told her because I wanted to see who all cooked or was responsible for the mishap. She said that if I wanted fast food that I should go to burger king. I wasn't being rude to her and she then proceeded to say that maybe if I tipped that I would have gotten my food in the first place. I told her that I did tip $5 and I was the only one that had put money in the jar at this time. She started cussing me out and telling me to just leave and f' me. I was shocked at how she was speaking to me and was very confused on why I was being treated this way. I walked back outside with our food still in shock and sat down and felt very comfortable eating the food after that encounter. I took the food back to the counter and tried to explain that I wasn't comfortable eating this food after that interaction. She continued to swear at me and call me names and such. My friend went to talk to the manager and the manager didn't even want to hear the story of what happened and said that he will just comp it because that's the only thing he can do that will make us happy. That couldn't have been farther from the truth. We just wanted someone to acknowledge that whatever was going on was not okay. I walked back to the patio to get my card for him to refund me for the food and the same girl from the kitchen came up behind me in the hallway and yelled bye to me. I felt attacked. I didn't feel safe. I felt unheard and unwelcome. My friends and I have all worked in the service industry and are very patient and understanding. We tip well and treat the staff with respect. Almost every staff person we encountered was short tempered, uninviting, unfriendly, and unhelpful. I am absolutely mind blown on this experience and absolutely amazed that this place has over 4 stars. Maybe it was a perfect storm that day with the staff but I never plan on taking any future out of town visitors there. You are embarrassing Austin and the food network.

I recently had the absolute pleasure of visiting Casino El Camino, an iconic punk rock bar located on Austin's vibrant Sixth Street. Let me tell you, this place blew my mind and left me craving for more! From the moment I stepped inside, I was immersed in the energetic atmosphere, accompanied by some seriously cool tunes that transported me back to the golden era of punk rock. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the Spicy Bloody Mary. As a connoisseur of this classic cocktail, I can confidently say that the Bloody Mary at Casino El Camino is a force to be reckoned with. The perfect balance of tanginess, spice, and just the right amount of kick made it an unforgettable drink. It was as if my taste buds were dancing to the beat of the music, and I found myself savoring every sip. Now, let's talk about the food. The Blue Cheese Burger at Casino El Camino is hands down one of the best burgers I have ever sunk my teeth into. The juicy, flavorful patty combined with the creamy blue cheese and a medley of toppings created a symphony of flavors that left me speechless. Each bite was a delightful explosion of taste, and the burger was perfectly cooked to my liking. It was an absolute masterpiece. To accompany my burger, I opted for the Chili Fries, and boy, was I in for a treat! The fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, while the rich and hearty chili generously smothered on top took them to a whole new level. The combination of textures and flavors was simply divine, making these chili fries an addictive indulgence that I couldn't get enough of. Aside from the outstanding food and drink, the staff at Casino El Camino were friendly, attentive, and exuded a genuine passion for what they do. Their enthusiasm added an extra layer of enjoyment to my experience, and they were more than happy to recommend their personal favorites from the menu. As a punk rock enthusiast, Casino El Camino felt like a second home to me. The eclectic decor, punk memorabilia, and live music created an authentic ambiance that celebrated the rebellious spirit of the genre. The dimly lit atmosphere further enhanced the overall experience, making it a true haven for music lovers and those seeking a unique, edgy vibe. In conclusion, my visit to Casino El Camino was an unforgettable journey into the heart of punk rock culture, fueled by the most incredible Spicy Bloody Mary, the tantalizing Blue Cheese Burger, and the mouthwatering Chili Fries. From the moment I stepped through the doors until the moment I left, I was captivated by the exceptional food, the electric atmosphere, and the passionate staff. If you're in Austin and crave a one-of-a-kind punk rock experience with fantastic food and drinks, Casino El Camino is an absolute must-visit. Prepare to have your taste buds and senses blown away!

Sensational Burgers and Fries Experience! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We recently visited Casino El Camino and had an absolute blast indulging in their mouthwatering offerings. The Buffalo Burger, grilled to perfection with their signature hot wing sauce and generously smothered with tangy blue cheese, was a flavor explosion! The Chicago Burger, stacked with thick-cut bacon, crisp romaine lettuce, juicy tomato, and gooey cheddar cheese, was a true delight. And let's talk about those Chilli Cheese Fries – an absolute game-changer! A generous basket of crispy fries, generously smothered with their homemade chili and queso, creating the perfect blend of savory and cheesy goodness. The overall experience was a solid 9 out of 10! The ambiance, friendly staff, and, most importantly, the delicious food make Casino El Camino a must-visit. Our taste buds are still dancing with joy! Highly recommend for burger enthusiasts and anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience.

This was a cool, nice, fun, way to order your food, order your drinks which is pretty cool! The environment in the restaurant was very positive energy and fun. The host was awesome by providing details on how to order my food and get my drinks and how to seat myself! The food was pretty good. The burger that I ordered was cooked just the way I like it and the fries were pretty good. The only issue I really had was when I approach the bar to ask for his recommendation, he was rude about, in his words “you should already know what you want” “I can’t tell what to get”, I was like geez I just want recommendations on drinks they other, so just got an IPA and call it a day! This would have been a 5 star experience and to top it off it was Father’s Day and I just wanted a good drink, as I was on a work trip!

Hot damn - arguably one of the best burgers I have ever had! It’s a 3/4 LB patty made to order hot and fresh and served on a killer bun. Have it with fries too - they’re also fantastic. I had the Chicago and my buddy had the KC - both were phenomenal. The room is cool - they definitely lean into being a “Dive Bar” but in all the right ways. Cheap draft, cool staff and a rad jukebox (which they’re known for apparently). It’s on 6E - where there is a TON of bars (and down the street from Comedy Mothership) - so - definitely worth a stop in for a cheap pint, cool staff and a killer burger.

So, we were all geared up for a casino night with friends, mainly for the promise of the town's best burgers. Two of us, the girls, got to the door a bit early and breezed in without a hitch. But, our three guy pals got hit with the accusation of being too tipsy - which he was not. The door guy insisted he could 'see it in his eyes' While we were cluelessly waiting in line to order, one of the guys tried to loop us in on the confusion. The door guy seemed lost, like, "What am I doing?" Our friend had to jog his memory that he was giving us a heads-up. Long story short, it was a weird AF, and we ended up ditching the plan. I've been to Casino several times and never had any trouble getting in and I'll be honest I've gotten in when I was two sheets. Great burgers inside, but the door guy was on another wavelength – unlike any other night out we've had.

Local restaurant recommended by a local within walking distance to the hotel and convention center. Has a full bar, not ideal for large parties but there is some 2nd floor seating. Entertainment includes pool tables and juke box. Arrived for dinner with friends. We ordered at the window and our name was called when it was ready. We tried the buffalo burger, the firebird chicken sandwich and the grilled chicken club, a basket of fries and the key lime empanadas to share. Everything was amazing! Very generous portions, fresh burger...really good food. The empanadas were cooked perfectly, not too sweet, could of been a little more tangy for key lime but still delicious. The fries were ok. The decor is no frills and underwhelming but doesn't impact the food. Employees were friendly. Mostly self serve, limited table service. Would eat here again.

Must visit for the burgers if you're in Austin. Go early before 6th downtown get to packed. Funky interior with a macabre vibe, cools locals joint before getting to crowded. KC burger was just pure sloppy goodness! Upstairs and back patio seating as well. Two pool tables upstairs if you're looking for a game.

Always a go to for great food and even better vibes. Even though this trip was a short (was getting food to go) the food is Always top notch and you get a lot for what you pay for. It is NOT a fast food joint so don't expect your food to be out super fast, remember patience is the key here. Working in the entertainment district it's one of my go tos when I want to have an awesome meal and have time to enjoy it. So be sure to read the menu twice, get the Verde fries with your order, and by the way, they had Cheesesteak egg rolls the last time I went and they were

If you're into Rock Music or simply looking for the best hamburger on 6th street, this is the place you're looking for. Been coming to this place for several years and still I can say they have the best burger I've ever tried (ask for the Madison burger, the others are ok, but this is truly the best one). To order the food you have to go to the back of the bar (near restrooms) and once your order is ready they'll call you through the microphone. They also have a good selection of beers and spirits, and of course great music. They also have some pool tables to play with. This is definitely one of my favorite bars on 6th street.

Casino El Camino is a great bar and an near perfect burger joint. The bar itself has a fun downstairs, even better upstairs, and even an outdoor courtyard. The reason you come here isn't the good drinks, it's the amazing burgers. All food is made fresh to order so it takes a bit to get to you but the wait is worth it. The burgers are some of the best I've ever had. The fries are right up there as a contender, too. They know how to cook medium rare, and how to sear a bun. I can't possibly emphasize how there are no bad burger choices, as they are all nearly perfect.

Excellent bar and grill. The staff were amazing and very welcoming. Drinks were perfect and very reasonably priced. I ate there twice. KC burger and fries the first time, and chili cheese fries with queso the next time. Both meals were above and beyond what you would normally expect at a bar and grill. Absolutely delicious food. The bar itself is very cozy with an upper floor. The decor is sort of like a goth, punk vibe.. I don't know how else to explain it, but it looks great and fits the atmosphere of the bar well. I highly recommend stopping here to eat or drink.

I have avoided coming for 15 year being DT. But we came at midnight on a Tuesday(free weekday parking) just go gfor a burger, They definitely live up to the hype. Expect a wait but it's not bad when you are ready for it. They are not slacking they are working on your grub right away. The burger is where it is YUM we also had chili fries and Italian sausage. The sausage bun was soaking wet and gross but the rest including the actual sausage were great.

This is definitely worthy of best burger in Austin. They have a fixed menu, but before you order at the back counter, make sure to check for any specials posted on the wall. Whether you get the amazing 3/4lb standard fare, or a speciality meat blend like I did, you will be the happiest you were all day while eating whatever meat you decide upon. Bonus points, kitchen stays open way later than most. Hangry at 12pm for lunch? They've got you covered. Hangry at 1159pm Saturday while debating those tequila shots your friends have waiting for you? Dive in!

During my visit to Austin in May, we got to experience all sort of new places. We were on SOCO street checking out all the shops and were recommended a few places from the “Monkey See, Monkey Do” store. The guys there told us we have to try the burgers at El Camino, they raved they were the best in Austin...they were absolutely correct! We tried the Pitts Burger, the Chili Cheese Fries and the Verde Chili Fries. All three items stood out, the burger was phenomenal and the Verde Fries I liked a little better than the Chili but I would order both. Super cool place, we ate here after the Ghost Tour we took. As a visitor, if I made a list of places to visit this would be on here.

This is a fun dive bar on 6th Street. It was the perfect place to grab some food and a drink before exploring the rest of 6th Street. At first it seems like you’ve stepped inside a haunted house/cave of sorts, but the quirky decorations create a really fun atmosphere (there’s so many things to look at, and they even have a jukebox). I ordered the Chicago burger, which comes with bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, and 3/4 pound of beef. It wasn’t the best burger I’ve ever had, but it was a solid burger, and I was happy to have half of it left over as my dinner for the next day.

I was looking for a fantastic burger, and I found one! I had a KC Burger with a side of fries. The burger was juicy and bursting with flavor. I did not order anything alcoholic, but judging by the number of people filing in after 5 pm, I have to assume the bar is an enjoyable experience as well. All the staff were friendly, and if you can't handle the crowd or the music, then you can definitely order for take-out. 100% recommend giving this place a try!

Ugh, where do I start. Food made me and my company sick. We couldn't finish our food, paid and ran. The chili fries were about the most disgusting thing I've eaten in a long time! Two bites, no thanks. Felt sick for a couple of days afterwards. The burger was tube meat and it was low quality, didn't taste fully cooked. Bartender was rude, unhelpful when asking about drinks on tap. Overpriced drinks, this place seems to have come down in the past few years. Pass! Maybe for s late night dive? Eh..just go somewhere else. Go to Higbies instead, good drinks and nice bartenders.

Soooooo glad this place survived the pandemic, a fire, the icepocalypse and the 6th street dip. I have been a patron on and off since the early 1990's. This place is special. Great staff, delicious food, hard drinks and the best jukebox in town. They have a sweet patio with a fountain out back and some pool tables on the 2nd floor. They usually are showing some great horror flicks on the tvs. The inside is nice a dark. Romantic and spooky simultaneously. It's great. Do yourself a favor and stop in for a drink and a meal!

Pre colonial mexica decor and art crosses modern lucha Libre splashed with punk rebellion! Great burgers and fries! Banquet Coors FTW! 6th street dive with amazing patio in the rear. Can't wait to come back when it cools off so I can see what the vibe is then! Serrano burger was delicious! Sweet potato fries and spicy mayo was the icing on the cake. Beer is cold! I was told I had to try the burgers here, so this is me letting everyone know the same. Try the burgers here! I went today before I left Austin and ordered the Amarillo burger with a side of Verde Chili fries. Everything was perfect. The burgers are huge! I couldn’t finish it, but really wanted to. The Amarillo burger has a kick to it, but I love spicy food. I also had a Bloody Mary, that was a meal in itself. Not sure what the reviews about the poor service are about. Yes, it’s a dive bar. But the staff was great. 10/10 recommend.

A great dive bar. Dark inside with a great duke box and the barman knew a lot about the beers they had on tap. I had a cheeseburger and it was HUGE. The flavours were incredible and they shouted your name out once it was ready to collect. The fries were super crispy. My favourite part about the bar was the outside section at the back! I work at a posh hotel up the street where we bend over for our customers. It's nice to go to a place with a relaxed atmosphere that isn't trying to put on any airs or be something it isn't. Hannah Hanson always remembers my name and to put extra mayo with my order. It's little things like that that let me make it through my next day of work.

Food delicious! It was a great surprise! The food does take a bit as they make it fresh in the kitchen & there's signs stating to have patience as its not fast food. I got a burger (I think it was called LA Burger) & it was phenomenal! My friends got wings & a chili dog and they both thought it was yummy too! If you have a hard time seeing be aware you'll have to use flashlight on your cell to see the menu The atmosphere was nice & decor is interesting as it gives ya a lot to look around at...

Very fun spot. Definitely a dive bar with a dark metallic punk vibe so if your uptight this likely isn’t your scene. The barkeeps were friendly and poured me a perfect Titos and Lemonade. BUT the best part about this spot is the food!! Got the amarillo burger on the cheddar jalapeño bun and added fried onions. Seriously the BEST burger Ive ever had. Like most men like their women it was Thick N Juicy. Be warned though it is very spicy and it might clean your system.

Casino is the best kind of grunge dive bar you’ll ever have the pleasure of visiting; it also happens to be my favorite spot for a burger and a beer, not to mention they always have an eclectic selection of music and movies playing. My go-to burger is the Amarillo on a jalapeño cheddar bun, and if that doesn’t fill you up, you can’t go wrong with their wings. Come hungry, leave happy.

This place has been a fixture on 6th Street for a long time now. In my opinion the best burgers downtown that I personally have eaten. Aside from the food, it's a what I call a typical "keep austin weird" kinda bar. You won't hear rap music on the radio here. Worth a stop if your around.

As awesome as I wanted it to be. Buffalo burger -huge, cooked perfectly on jalapeno cheddar bun. I had LA burger - delicious. On same bun. Perfect amount of kick! chilled Verde on fries -amazing. Queso on the side, just right. Food came up fast. You order at a counter and your name is called out -fun -choose a fun name! Total bar atmosphere - loud, great music, possibly sticky, but that's ok. We had basic drinks, but looks like they could make wherever you want.

Not sure what adjective to use first. Sure this place is dark. It is also totally kitsch. The chili cheese fries are fantastic. Crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside while covered in tasty chili and gooey cheese sauce. The burger itself was well cooked and seasoned just right. For me, I would have rated it excellent if not for the bun. To me, the bun tasted like it was created in a lab. Overall an odd but pleasant enough experience.

This place is a great classic Dive Bar . Bartenders are great. The hamburgers are probably one of the best I have had in Austin. Great Juke Box playing lots of Punk and Rock n Roll The best part is the price, I came dirt cheap. I highly recommend this place.

Casino El Camino is known for their burgers so I had to give one a try. I was a bit skeptical of these burgers for the price but then when you see the size of these 3/4 lb burgers, you’ll understand. I got the Chicago and fries and it was so much food! I had heard I needed to order the Madison which also come with pork belly but that was going to be heavy for me for my late night snack. Great burger in Austin! Go check it out.

THE LEGEND still stands strong down on old 6th st in Austin Texas! It had been years since my last dance with this devil and let me be the one to say...holy momma it is every bit as good as I remember. So take the time machine back to the Rock and Roll days and hit the Chicago burger (add grilled serrano peppers medium rare) and get the green chili fries. Top off with a pint of Fire Eagle IPA and have a good effing day.

Best burger I've ever had!!! Great service, great food, and the margaritas were good too. We shared the huge burger with the verde fries, oh boy I fell in love with this place and the food!! :)

I was advised to go to Casino El Camino by an Austin local as it having the best burger in town. It was featured on triple D(Diner’s, Drive-In’s, and Dives) for the buffalo burger. The atmosphere was really cool! I got the LA Burger and LOVED IT!! It was delicious! I was told the Amarillo Burger was awesome but didn’t have a chance to try it. The LA Burger was one of the best burgers I have had. Highly recommend!

  • Carlos Babcock

Got in right as the doors opened on a slow Tuesday morning. I got the KC Burger with fries. The KC Burger is grilled with smokey barbeque sauce, beer braised onions and cheddar cheese. The beer was an Austin Brewerks Fire Eagle American IPA. The burger was cook perfectly, but being a bigger fan of grilled onions I found them an amazing addition to the sandwich. It's true, they make a great burger.

  • Brad Van Winkle

The atmosphere is great, in it's genre. It just isn't my preferred genre. But, that's OK. This bar is great in the lane it has chosen. The burgers are terrific. The best I have had in Austin.

Dark, loud, undergroundish bar with great food. Several locals recommended El Camino to us for having the best burgers in town. They were right: the meat is thick and juicy, among the best I've ever had. The sandwiches are equally delicious. Good selection of beers as well. The kitchen is open until 1:30am.

This place is an awesome dive bar. Great heavy metal and punk music playing on the jukebox . But the best thing about this place is the food !!! Gigantic burgers cooked fresh and unbelievably Huge portions. The order Chili cheese fries that I received was so big. I was unable to eat the burger too. Service was very friendly.

Seriously the best meal we had in Austin, and one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. The Amorillo burger was huge and delicious, the fries were crispy and the drinks were cold. Really cool courtyard and vibe too.

This place was a fantastic stop after a couple of drinks. The burgers here are just crazy - huge, juicy, tasty, messy, perfect. The vibe is a lot of fun, very dark and sultry inside so it's a relaxing place to have a drink with some friends. There's outdoor seating and an upstairs area with pool tables so it's very spacious with plenty to do. You have to try the burgers!

  • jason alexander

Kind of a unique place. You yell your order in a window and chill out til its ready. I had the KC burger it was good but I will have to say the burger was undercooked but it might have been because it was really a thick burger. The atmosphere is part From Dusk til Dawn bar to custom built burger joint. If you're on dirty 6th street pop in you wont be sorry.

  • Philip Warren

What a gem! Had the spicy burger with Serrano peppers & it was fantastic! Juicy, flavorful & definitely recommend the jalapeño bun. I don’t recall having a better burger but don’t think you will find a better one in Austin & surrounding area. Wife had portobello sandwich & it was equally as great. Heard the wings are also rock star & can’t wait to go back!

  • Jessica J.

Loved the burger...the meat so fresh and tasty. The buffalo burger with blue cheese is so good that you can't stop eating. Fries texture can be enhanced. The fries dip is really good, you can request it from them. As for the atmosphere it is amazing! Very Texan style. Rock music, rock style men & women. This is a very unique place & a must visit in Austin.

I had a lot of hype built into my expectations and Casino El Camino was only "very good." I will certainly go again and try something else on the menu but I'm still searching for the best burger in Austin. It's a dive bar and that is a positive but damn that area of 6th is dirty, real dirty.

A cool little bar. We came late in the evening. The vibe is 80s alternative which I enjoy. We had the Amarillo Burger with sweet potato fries and its now on the top of my burger list for sure. Service is a little slow, but they’re nice and put a lot of love into their food and drinks.

The burgers are good as they have their reputation but honestly the sauces they make is where the gold is. Also the atmosphere is dark, very small and while the jukebox has awesome selections, the music is often way too loud. I mean it’s a Bar on sixth Street so use your discretion.

The little burger that could! This burger is brutal and savage in taste yet delicate with flavor and pairings. A true culinary delight. The taste of the charcoal with the jalapeño were perfect. I got the Amarillo burger and wow. I love it. I came to Austin for BBQ and TexMex but will leave with a burger Jones.

One of my favorite bars in the whole country. Like a cave inside, kinda. Love the gargoyle above the bar. Backyard looks like Mayan ruins. Great selection of music on the Jukebox. And oh yeah, best burgers in town. One of my last old hangouts that remain in Austin before the place got so insipid and fake.

  • John Turner

I have been here 4-5 times over a decade. Saw it on TV. It is loud and dark but that is the style. The food is really good but a small kitchen so give them time. Nothing is premade as far as I can tell. I stop by anytime I am on this side of Austin.

By far, the best place to get hot wings in all of Austin. Delicious, crispy, wings. No frills bar with great atmosphere. Usually, there’s some obscure horror flick playing on the TVs. For real tho, this is the only establishment on dirty 6th that I will give my money to. I hope you do too.

  • Robert N

A local landmark on 6th street. What's not to love about this place? It has the best and darkest dive bar feel on the entire street, an amazing jukebox of killer tunes, and a kitchen that whips out the best burgers in town. Anytime go downtown I always come by here to soak up the vibes.

My favorite burger joint in Austin, the food and the ambience are right up my alley. Fantastic service and music too! It's on 6th St. so it's easy to find. You will have to wait for the food since they cook everything on order, it's not a fast food restaurant by any means.

My husband had the KC Burger. He shared a bite and it was the best smoky burger I have had. I couldn’t stop eating it so he finally gave me half! The wings were crispy and although I didn’t have the sauce, I can’t imagine anything less than awesome!

AMAZING burgers. A hole in the wall and probably the only place I will ever come back to on 6th street. All burgers are delicious and humongous. We tried the Amarillo and Chicago burgers, both were great. The verde chili fries are also a must.
