I have come to this particular book store a number of times. This time it was a lot less pleasurable as the young lady behind the desk was rude. As my kids and i came in they spoke to her, she didn't return their sunny smiles and hellos. But she did speak to the people who came in BEHIND US. I let the kids look around and they chose more than 10 books. They were excited! Baby boy tried to show her a book and she just took it and rung it up. The middle girl had a book on cooking, she wanted to carry it, the young lady took it as well and put it in the bag. She then tells me the total and gives me the bag. It was almost like she couldn't wait for us to leave. By now middle girl is pointing and asking to go to the cafe. I paid and said no, we shouldn't eat, drink or spend anymore money where we aren't welcomed. I will reconsider returning or maybe only enter when that female is NOT working!!

A great labyrinth of literature, for the bibliophile! I'm happy that I wandered in and actually remembered the book I wanted to find, 'cause I snagged the only copy on the shelf. Kudos to the obviously adept shelf organization, matching the computer inventory! I've added some lovely original artwork seen in and around the store for sale by local artists. They will ask you to store your larger bags behind their front desk, and make a final purchase before you take part in the adjoining café. This downtown location is nice becauae it is central for passersby and visitors. There are even little reading books scattered around the passageways, with a 1 hour sitting limit. A pretty thorough and well thought out place for used and rare/vintage books, and knowledgeable friendly staff. They even sell their own merch if you forgot to bring your own bag to carry your haul.

The most exceptional bookstore in the Jacksonville area. I absolutely love Chamblin’s Uptown and I do not visit here enough. The staff are terrific and if you know what you are looking for the staff will be sure to help you find it among the rows & rows of books. Stretching indefinitely in the brick space from floor to ceiling. On previous visits I was so silly and I didn’t even realize they had an upstairs. One of my moments for sure. Bring a friend, leave your bag at the desk and dig in to Chamblin’s for the afternoon or an entire day. Chamblin’s does not receive the attention that it should and I’ll be willing to vouch that you’ll find more than one book here you’ll give a new home.

My gf and I stumbled across Chamblin's Uptown while waiting for the nearby museum to open. Wow. What a beautiful bookstore, the modern world badly needs more gems like Chamblin's: multiple levels with rare, weird and used books, CDs, manga, games, art and more! The prices are really fair and yes they will work with you if you are bundling together a lot of items. I spent 2 hrs and barely scratched the surface. They also sell coffee and snacks in front. I haven't been to the other location but I hear its even larger, so I imagine it is also lovely.

I like shopping at this store to get the books that are priced lower. I never buy one that doesn't have the stamp on it saying it's half priced or used, because 10% off cover price is more expensive for a book than ordering it off of Amazon. And honestly the place could have better organization. Upstairs was very hard to find anything. They could also be clearer about how their pricing works. They definitely don't say much about it in store and only on their website to trick people into paying more than they thought they would for a book.

My favorite used bookstore of all time. The uptown location is 2 floors, filled with books of every genre. They even have a VHS, DVD, and CD section. The prices are great, most books are half off the original price. And if they don't have a book in their location, they are more than willing to check their Roosevelt location or purchase the book for you. The friendliest staff EVER. And although the sheer quantity of books can seem overwhelming, their comprehensive filing system makes finding any book a breeze.

“I have always imagined that paradise will be a kind of library.” This place is one of a kind. Books everywhere and on every subject and well organized too! New books, old books, rare books, comics, graphic novels, cds and DVDs and more. I could get lost here (and did). The espresso is also strong and there’s great unique flavors like elderflower you can add to your drinks. We also tried a peanut butter cookie sandwich that was fresh and amazing. I look forward to returning.

AMAZING. There are so many book options here; I found almost all the obscure titles/authors I was looking for. There are so many sections that you don’t normally see a lot of books for such as Indigenous Studies, southern history, and black/African history not to mention books in and about almost any country or region you can think of. This is THE bookstore in Jax. Also, it’s 2 floors and there is a cafe with delicious vegan grits! Try the sexy grits for something special.

Came here for a visit. The bookstore is large and has really good collections of books of any genres. I spent several hours to go through the store however I did not try the cafe in store. The used book prices are reasonable although sometimes 50% off cover price is still too pricy for some used books. The staff members were friendly and helpful. Definitely a must-visit if you are in downtown Jacksonville area.

Best book store in Jax! Parking is a little hard to find (this is no fault to the store itself though, just downtown Jax problems). I was able to find so many books I've been needing, and was also able to find a rather rare/unique father's day gift for an affordable price! The staff is extremely kind and helpful. Even if you're just visiting Jax for the day, I highly recommend making this one of your stops! :)

Frequently I go to the Westside location but was in the area. Books at both can be slightly more expensive than they are on Amazon but I deal with it cause I want the book, iced coffee's weren't very good and they forgot my order originally and when they went to make it they made it wrong and remade it with an attitude. I'll stick to the Westside location.

Amazing location, amazing staff, amazing selection! The barista was incredibly friendly and lead me to the bathroom so I could dry off when I came in from the rain. Both drinks I got from the cafe were perfect! The clerk up front was also super helpful and knowledgeable— thank you for the recommendation to try the other Chamblin’s location! You guys rock!

Enjoyed an awesome Turkey Croissant and iced chai latte at the restaurant inside. The sandwich was made with love and the portion was very satisfying. The service was very kind and fast, the restaurant very clean. Enjoyed my visit here, took some time after to look at books and hang with friends. A very pleasant visit …

This is a charming used bookstore with an interesting variety of titles spanning all kinds of genres and categories. There is also an attached small coffee shop with a tasty selection. We only browsed for about 30 minutes...I wish we could have spent more time. I will definitely come back next time I'm visiting Jacksonville.

Always find some good things here. The current display upfront calling books banned cuz they're not yet on a whitelist is disappointingly childish. I'd expect a book purveyor to not conflate a book like Ulysses that was actually banned with some bureaucratic congestion of adding a book to a whitelist.

  • Mdm. Du Maison “La Grande Dame” Des Femmes Rebelles

No better place to meet great minds of the city all filling their heads the the latest and greatest as well as those hard to find classics. Don't forget to fuel up on their delicious made to order breakfast items. Personal favorites include the lavender latte and chocolate meringue cookie. Mmmmmmmm

  • Ladiebug Chikon

I learned about this location while visiting the Roosevelt site. An unbelievable collection of books and related media items awaits! Plan to stay for a few hours to roam and enjoy the cafe. I only paid a couple of bucks to park at a meter and walked over. Should have bought more time!

  • Alysa Collins

Best bookstore ever. Sells both new and used books. There are many treasures among the shelves. Prices are fair and you can turn in books for store credit and buy different ones when you choose. Don't miss the quirky sign around the store that will make you smile. Great staff.

  • Amanda Rivera

Good bookstore that has an abundance of both new and used books. You could spend hours going through both the downstairs and upstairs. Staff were all friendly and obviously care about the store. Reasonable prices. You can get store credit for turning in books.

  • John Daley

The food was amazing. My stomach beginning to grumble just thinking about it. A little pricey for some of the items but definitely worth every penny. I would eat it every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner if I could afford to. Trust me, you won't regret it!

  • Kendra Dix

Great hole in the wall. Huge selection. Free WiFi. Indoor and outdoor seating. No smoking in outdoor seating. They have a cafe with a wide range of food to choose from. As well as a variety of coffee choices. Highly recommend stopping in!

  • Chelsea

fantastic spot to get a light breakfast. don't miss out on the grits, they're outstanding. spent a good hour looking around at the massive collection of books, found a few deals, and I'm already looking forward to going back.

  • Zack Little

Ment to come here a while ago then I found the other location months back. Fantastic, cozy, groovy place to find a good book , read said book, grab some food and and drink. Ran into it by pure accident but Im glad I did.

  • TawanC

Super convenient. They pulled books from the Roosevelt location and will hold the for up to 1 week for you. They had just what I need plus extra so it's always worth browsing.

  • Nicole G

This place was an all around good experience. My coffee was delicious, and the selection of book and music offerings took me back to a simpler time. I will absolutely be back!

Best used/new book store in town. It truly is an adventure when you visit. Never know what you'll find, but whatever it is you know it's what you needed. Go and explore.

  • Karina Farrell

It’s a bit of a drive for me to get here so I don’t get to go often. When we do go, we make a special trip of it and this bookstore is simply magical …

Awesome service!! Nice place to have coffee and read your favorite book by yourself or to even have a nice lunch date with a friend. Customer friendly

Coolest bookstore in Jax that somehow manages to leave me with two new CDs and a book every time I walk in. Their hot chocolate is also really good.
