Lots of 1 star reviews coming in from people who never have been and never will go to Chuck's. The shop took a stand politically - you can agree or disagree, and if that affects your purchasing decisions that's up to you. But a lot of people are in the reviews writing lazy, unimaginative comments like "worst IPA I've had" or "toilet water". So some thoughts: 1. If this is your idea of vigilante justice, well, you're not very good at it. 2. Regardless of your political stance, the beer here is good. Their own brews are great, and their can and bottle collection is extensive. I get most of my interesting beers here. 3. The staff has always been polite and helpful. Have gotten plenty of good recommendations from them. 4. The space is also nice. They've got good outdoor seating and have been doing well with the whole pandemic response. So yeah, if you make your buying decisions based on political activism, more power to you. But know that this place is a top tier beer shop and no amount of unintelligent liars piling it on in the reviews will change that

What a great neighborhood hangout. For a long time I drove past it thinking it was just a weed place - but it's not! They have dozens of beers on tap, and hundreds of varieties in the cooler for you to choose from. Also they have a frozen drink maker which does a margarita-type drink. Also there's a small selection of non-alcoholic drinks and ice cream including a vegan option, and some chips but no other food in the shop. However, every night there's a new food truck parked on the curb so you can get your meal there and then go grab your drink inside Chuck's. There's a terrific outdoor seating area (no table service) under a giant tent wherein you can enjoy both. The only somewhat frustrating things is, the line moves really slow and is often long. It's not unusual to wait 10-20 minutes to get your drink. I think this is because there are so many choices and most people don't even start evaluating them until they are standing in front of the server.

This is probably the best place to find the specific beer you are searching for. They have 50 taps, which are nicely color coded and synched up to their web site so you know what to put in your growler before you even leave the house. The staff here is especially good at their jobs and always know what to recommend. They have so much beer you either wander for hours or just ask. They have some silly food options, some good snacks, and a rotating food truck, outside seating is also nice. Chuck is a very nice guy too, and has turned me onto some new beers Ive never tried before.

another one of my old friend Chuck's places located in the central district. it has a large tent outside with enough tables to meet up with your friends. it's also pet and kid friendly. Opens late so you can easily spend the entire evening sampling variety of amazing beers on tap. I still miss Chuck's beer brats which are no longer available at this location but a rotating food truck is available around dinner time. this particular night was a chicken sandwich which paired well with a hazy IPA. wish i lived closer so i could visit more often. love this place!

An awesome local watering hole! They have games, a ton of beer, nice indoor and outdoor seating, a food truck that hangs out in the parking lot and parking is usually pretty easy. Kid and dog friendly which is a plus for those who have families/dogs but still want to grab a beer and play a game of cribbage. Atmosphere is cool... Like a liquor store with seating, very casual. 4 stars only because they have a ton of beers on tap but don't usually have a good wheat or lager selection. This is a great place for IPA and more flavorful beer lovers.

So many beers. So many non-alcoholic drinks too. Snacks of all kinds!!!! I feel like a kid in the candy door whenever I come here. I love that there's so much space in there at night time even on a Friday night. Parking can be difficult but if you can find it, it's worth it. Since I usually come here with a group of 10+, I love that we can always find space indoors even. There is outdoor seating and it's perfect for the summer nights. I give them extra kudos for putting on Ghibli films and other fun shows/movies on their TV!

As a huge beer fan, I can’t believe I’ve lived in Seattle for 7 years and finally made it to Chuck’s! It is reservation ONLY right now for their patio, so reserve a day or two in advance (and make sure you book enough time). They have a heated area and an I heated area. Great beers on tap and snacks to buy while you sip on your beers. A huge variety of craft beer in the store from all over the place. The only downside is that there is no organization to the beer so kinda takes forever if you’re looking for a specific brew.

  • Emily Danielson

They seem like a beer store, but they are more used as a beer bar. Fun place to go for dinner and drinks since there is always a food truck out front and one a block away. You can try a lot of different beers and then spend your time watching and playing with all the dogs! We like it because they are pet friendly. We can bring our dog and our friends bring their cat, and overall have a pleasant evening. Only reason I don't love it here is because it's super loud and crowded most of the time.

  • Geoff Graves

These guys are great! Such a great selection of kegs available - Jordan was great with communication and ordering. Super friendly service at both pick up and drop off. My only complaint is the parking lot is a little small - not a problem when I picked up my keg on a weekday right after opening, but had to double park when I returned it on a Saturday. Also the beer selection is amazing! Definitely plan on staying for a pint when picking up or dropping off. Great job, Chucks Hop Shop!

  • Kimberly Pham

Great place to grab a beer or two. A ton of varieties when it comes to beer or cider. They offer huge outdoor seatings and a cute little side patio. Rsvp is no longer required. First come first serve basis. Parking seems pretty easy. I recommend walking or Uber. Never a good idea to drink and drink. If you are hungry they do offer hot dogs, chips, and a bunch of unhealthy snacks. There is a taco truck next to them. I believe you can grab some food there and eat at the brewery.

  • Emma KG

The best place to go for beer lovers or even people who don't know what they want. I really like going here with friends because there are so many beer options, there's something for everyone. Dog friendly, great food trucks, and good service. They even have ice cream from Full Tilt. I went with someone who only drinks ciders and they have a good selection of ciders. All in all, a great place to go. Also Chuck's has got an amazing selection of cans and bottles of beer to buy.

  • Andy Moore

Chuck's is a perfect place for craft beer lovers. There are plenty of options for both on-site consumption and to-go. It's an especially great spot if you are looking for local Seattle and PNW craft beers and was just what I was looking for when I first moved to Seattle and looking to explore the local craft beer scene. The employees are always friendly and provide great recommendations. A nice outdoor seating area and dog friendly make for the perfect beer bar experience.

  • Cody Davis

They have a great selection of beers both on tap and for purchase. Case in point, while I was perusing their fridges, I actually came across a six pack of MMMHops, which is the brew from the Hanson brothers that made it big with a song once with a very similar sounding title (sorry for the ear worm). Since they don't have proper distribution deals for their beer, it's seldom seen outside Oklahoma, yet it found its way to Seattle by way of this little shop. Incredible.

  • Mallorie Starkenburg

I love this shop, there is plenty of seating and they allow families, and dogs. An incredible selection of beers on tap, as well as canned and bottled. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I can't wait for quarantine to be over to hang on the patio with a cold drafted craft beer. We've also been in during quarantine and they've taken extra measures to keep everyone safe, as well as stocked up on their favorite brew during these strange times.

  • Nathan Herring

Having an outdoor place to meet friends over drinks in pandemic times is amazing. My personal beer taste however only intersects slightly with Seattle's IPA, brett, and sour fascination, as I tend toward malty tripels or Dunkleweissens, so it's actually hard to find a delicious beer in their forever rotating taps. They have a variety of snack foods, but the real treat are the periodic food trucks delivering local favorites along with the beer.

  • Geni Venable

If you're looking for one of the best selections of beers on tap in Seattle, you don't have to look any further. They also have more bottles than I've ever seen. They tend to get the rare and special beers from local breweries, too, so it's really the best of the PNW beer scene here. Dog friendly, if that's important to you. This place doesn't try to do much in terms of aesthetics -- it's all about the beer and being a space to gather.

  • Janell Chatterjee

Always a blast coming here! During these COVID times, they have a huge outside tent with a side patio as well, so plenty of seating. Tends to be a bit crowded during the dinner hours but if you come after 8 or 9, it’s quiet and nice. Staff is always friendly! There’s a bunch of fridges in the back that you can even come in and grab a pack of beer. Lots of options! Lots of beers on tap too - that’s their thing lol super chill place!!

  • Whitney Rearick

Beer selection is A+, of course. But after coming here for years, I can't say the same about the service. The vibe is that they're doing you a favor by serving you. Most recently, two people were hanging/chatting behind the counter with only one serving, despite there being a line of customers. Other times they've been dismissive. I wonder what's going on with management to make people so uninterested in the customers.

  • Allison Farrell

Nice place with a nice atmosphere, chill outside space… but mostly shout out to Anthony who was a customer service maverick. I was stressed out when I got there, but Anthony went totally above and beyond for us, like literally I think I could have told him “I wished it was Tuesday” and he would have ran so fast it would have spun the earth to that date. Great beers too, completely awesome experience all around.

  • Justin Anderson

Cool place with tons of beer to choose from. Take beer to go or have some to stay. They don't serve food in the restaurant but they offer a bunch of snacks to choose from. Best part is, they have a different food truck stationed outside every night. You can essentially go there a different night of the week and eat completely different food each time. Pretty cool idea. They also allow dogs inside with you.

  • Robert Johnson

Been coming here for a while to grab beers with friends and co workers. For some reason every time we have an interaction with Brandi, she is very rude and unprofessional. The last time speaking with her, she made our group feel very uncomfortable that we decided to no longer go there and start going to a different spot. Good beers but not worth the customer service. Chuck needs to have a chat with Brandi!

  • Nathaniel McAuliffe

The land of a 1000 beers lives up to its title. If you enjoy at least one beer you will be able to find 10 others like it. I have been able to revisit old favorites and discover new delights at this fun and hip spot. They also have a food truck outside so you can grab a bite to eat and get back to exploring their impressive selection. If you are a fan of beer than you owe it to yourself to visit!

  • Camille Ritchie

Chucks has a huge selection of unique beers on draft and in bottles/cans. They also have snacks and ice cream along with a different food trucks each day. Due to COVID you have to reserve a spot on the patio at least an hour before (they now have two patio areas!). We did not realize this when we showed up and they graciously let us have a beer in the small window that a table was available.

  • John McInerney

This is the kind of place you would expect the staff to be elitist jabronis. They are not! They are genuinely nice, helpful, and supercool. The tap list is ridiculously awesome. The bottle selection is full of whales. They do crowlers, growlers, and there is a food truck often. It is clean and inviting with ice cream and other things like pez for non drinkers. Maybe the best place ever.

  • jerry gay

50+ taps featuring west coast brews, ciders, and kombucha, with hundreds of refrigerated beers, ciders, and wines to go. also, snacks, ice cream, and a regular rotation of food trucks. indoor and outdoor seating, friendly and helpful staff, family friendly, and all the chill you need. stop in, try a new beer, an old favorite, or a seasonal, meet up with friends and neighbors and relax.

  • Elliott Mullen (Traveling Armadillo)

This place was great! Large beer market where you can drink there and/or pick some up from the coolers and take them with you. Love the way you order from the boards and the staff was very friendly. I was impressed with the vast selection of beer both on tap and in the coolers. Also, there was a good truck out front. The place was crowded and was obviously a hot spot for the locals

  • Hannah Colwell

Great selection of beer on tap + a HUGE selection of cans and bottles. They have a patio and both indoors and outdoors are dog friendly. The employees always give my pup treats and they also have a great gallery of photographs of their regular dogs at the entrance. I always walk away with more beer than I intend to- so you tell me if that's a good or bad thing!

  • DJJ

Chuck's is the spot! If you like beer at all, just even a little bit, this place is great! They have so many great beers on draft and the folks behind the bar are always willing to make a suggestion based on your likes. Make the effort to get here, you will get a sampling of the best beers on the west coast. Insider tip: get a half pour, so you can try more!

  • Daniel Hahm

Great place and options on tap. Only complaint would be staff messing up my orders multiple times yesterday giving me two 16 oz pours when asking for two 8oz (charging me 16 oz) second round gave me the wrong beer and had to correct them gave me 8 oz pour for a 16 I asked for and 16 for a 8 oz I asked for. Except for that had a great time with friends cheers

  • Jas San

Dog friendly, frequent food trucks, ice cream, coffee, beer, wine, and kombucha on tap, what's not to love. Lately it's been getting crowded in the evening, but a visit in the early afternoon is pretty mellow and chill. The selection of beer is the best I've seen in Seattle, and this location has more room than the northern location

  • Robyn Reed McLaughlin

Lots of covered outdoor seating, no reservations needed (or allowed) anymore. They always have at least one beer on tap for every taste, and great suggestions to help you find your way. And if not, grab a bottle and pay the “corkage fee” to drink it there! Snacks are cheap and hit the spot. Often a food truck there if you’re hungry.

  • Benita

Local community pub! Energy here is great! Plus they have a HUGe selection of beer and cider. They also have a few wines. Personally, I like stouts. They usually have 4 or 5 to choose from. And they change all the beers up quite a bit, always super good. The food trucks are usually comfort food but on the higher end. …

  • Jason Calimbas

Fantastic selection on tap, to go bottles and cans! Also the staff is really friendly and knowledgeable! Lots of of in door seating as well as a patio and a number of chips to choose from for a snack. Not to mention ice cream! Coming from Vancouver Canada this is one stop on the list while visiting the emerald city!

  • Nicholas Christopher

Great place to hang out and have a beer (according to my parents) and some ice cream. Parents can get some of their amazing beer selection (according to my parents, they’re beer snobs) while the kids can get freshly scooped ice cream. I’ve been coming here with my family since I was little and is a great spot.

  • Todd

Lots of choices but lots of empty shelves, too, on a Saturday evening. With the crowd you’d think that’s when you want to offer the biggest selection for shoppers. You can find some good bargains and you can find some pricey stuff as well. Still, you have fifty choices on tap so you won’t go thirsty here.

  • Marco Calderon

Fantastic beer shop with tons of taps. They've got a great selection of beer, both for sale and to drink, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Prices are very fair and the selection is constantly rotated and updated. There are food trucks and snacks for food if you're hungry. Dog friendly venue too!

  • Jessica Best

Always a great selection on tap -- and you have your choice in sours to boot. Dog friendly, chill atmosphere, and a rotating selection of delicious food trucks. My go-to place when I want to meet up with friends I haven't seen in a while, and want to enjoy a casual drink without a lot of noise or fuss!

  • Kayla Reidenbach

They have a ton more outdoor spacing since Covid allowed them to cordon off their parking lot and add picnic tables. They are also covered with a good tarp for when it's raining. The beer selection is great and fun to get whatever is rotating on tap. They usually have a couple ciders on tap as well

  • Ronald Peterson

Good vibe, spacious inside & outside, tons of beverage choices. Neighborhood street parking is a bit of a challenge. I was too close to someone's driveway & got yelled at with the finger included! Apparently I'm not the first one to be "7 feet" from his driveway where his tiny smart car was parked.

  • Ritu K. Coleman

Hands down one of the best beer bars in Seattle. They have a huge selection of beers on tap and in bottle. The staff is amazing and knowledgeable. The bar is dog friendly! Lots of space. A great location for a group of people. Their outdoor seating area is also very cozy if weather permits.

  • Don L

I'm always impressed by the variety of beers and ciders here. They rotate them regularly and always have some great options. The crowd is diverse and it is a kid friendly place. The outdoor space during the warmer months is great!! Get there early if you want a seat. I go here regularly.

  • Kevin Honold

Love Chucks. Favorite place for an outdoor weather happy hour in Seattle Great selection of beer, cider, and wine. I'm gluten free so appreciate the cider on tap. Felt safe with covid with a great outdoor setup, included a heated section along the side when the weather gets cold.

  • Lis Weller

They stock more beverages and brands than you'll ever need, the place is always packed, they have rotating food trucks and they're close to home but with all these amenities, I never get a 'my favorite neighborhood hangout' feel (and I'm not a fan of the mason jar glasses).

  • Alex Lorden

Great spot to hang out and drink all the beers you've heard about but haven't gotten around to drinking yet. Unbelievable selection on tap and in bottles and cans. There's almost always a food truck parked outside, and the schedule is updated on their website.

  • Maggie Vinyard

Great local shop with an incredible selection of beers both on tap and bottled/canned. The space has several tables indoors, heated outdoor seating, and covered non-heated patio seating. There's also a rotating selection of food trucks that park outside.

  • Jared Miller

50 taps with a wide variety in selections! The staff were very nice and knowledgeable of the beers and cider. If you don't have time to sit down for a point their bottle selection is impressive as well for beer to go! Will definitely go back again!

  • Steve Heck

The best keg selection in the city. Had a hiccup with online ordering where my keg never showed up. Staff was friendly and did the best they could to rectify situation. Many individual cans and bottles for sale as well as excellent tap selection.

  • Mateó Leoń (Meo)

Dog friendly and an overwhelmingly large beer/cider list in a good way! Meaning there is something for everyone. It was overwhelming for me because I’m not normally a beer drinker but I think it was called the Ruben which was NOT bad at all!

  • Elizabeth Sharon

Very cool beer bar!! Lots of covered outdoor seating. Covid abiding. Dog friendly. Great beer on tap and lots of choices to take home. Only downside is the price. Not terrible, but not cheap. (listed on website if you want to check it out)

  • Ezra Citron

Always love this place. Sipped a delicious guava sour and sat outside under the pandemic-inspired tent that we’re all glad is seemingly here to stay. Always nice to see so many dogs and kids here; all-around friendly spot.

  • Ben Clarke

An incredible selection of over 50 beers and ciders on tap and many more in cans! Everything from Elysian to Georgetown to Reubens and Metier Brewing Company. Arguably the best spot for a beer and food truck …

  • Brent Williams

Incredible beer and cider selection! Bring your own food from outside, and they often have nearby food trucks. Also have some snacks and ice cream available in-house. Good mix of inside and outside patio seating.

  • Dan Hoyt (Higgs-Boson)

An insane amount of beers both on tap and for sale. And of course follows the northwest rule of 90% of the beers are super hoppy, but what can you do. Super cool place, great customer service, 100% will be back

  • Scotty P

Great beer and staff. Great alternating food options, and Pinball! The only thing keeping this from being 5 stars are all the non attentive parents letting their kids run around inside like it’s a playground.

  • Chris Schutte (Shopping Bag)

Bottle shop with hundreds of selections plus a taproom with lots of great craft beers. Plenty of indoor and outdoor space to hang out and try a few, food truck right outside, and good times. Highly recommend!

  • Ellen Riedel

What a wonderful selection! This is the perfect place for meeting up with friends to try beer, enjoy a local food truck and play boardgames with friends. Dog friendly also as a wonderful plus.

  • Christina Tyler

This place allows dogs which was fun to see, and the types of beers are color coded according to type (cider, IPA, etc). Pretty laid back atmosphere offering snacks and amazing food trucks.

  • Brittany Love

This place is so unique & fun. If you can't find something to drink here, I would be surprised. Hundreds of options to choose from, I especially enjoyed the prickly pear cider on draft!

  • Cole Gleason

Fantastic selection of beers, ciders, hard kombucha and more. At least 50 drafts and a wall of coolers with interesting cans and bottles. Also a great patio and nearby food trucks

  • Marshall L

This is a craft beer goldmine. Met Chuck and he's a super inviting and friendly dude. Couldn't recommend a better place. I'll be checking out the second location in a few days.

  • Richard Bond

The perfect spot to grab a beer with a friend. Casual, friendly/knowledgeable staff, huge selection of beer.... It is also kid friendly with ice cream, snacks and food trucks.

  • Jason Read

Couldn't spend as long here as I would have liked; a ton of bottles and cans from all over and a large selection of taps to sample. Local and farther afield well represented.

  • Maria Rodriguez

Cute little shop with a wide range of beer selection. We were looking for somewhere that had variety and this place was perfect. Very casual too. Loved the wall of dog pics

  • Alexandria Bodas

Can't believe we slept on this place for so long, what a great find. Incredible selection of beer on tap and to purchase in store. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

  • Elizabeth Myers

Both of the times I’ve visited have resulted in some of the best memories of my entire life. The watermelon dragonfruit sour is lovely. Chuck’s Hop Shop 4ever …

  • Michael Lightstone

Great selection of beer on tap and good variety of bottles and cans that are hard to find in Seattle. Lots of out door covered seating. Everyone was friendly.

  • Levi Riley

Nice staff and fun location. I usually go to greenwood since it is walking distance to me but the central district one is a vibe and can walk to cap hill

  • I V

Plenty of good beer choices & snacks available for purchase. Outdoor seating & rotating food trucks outside until 9pm make it a great spot to check out.

  • David Roots

Just stopped by to pickup a beer; there was a very large selection. Also 48 beers to choose from on tap. Will have to stop again to sample more.

  • Jessica V

Land of 1000 Beers! Huge menu of beers on tap plus cold beer, sours, or cider to take with you. Food trucks outside and family friendly. …

  • James White

Make sure you check their beers in the back for freshness dates. Got an IPA from '21 that tasted mega nasty. Love their tap selection though!
