UPDATE: August/2018. Second meal and oh so not impressed. That's now two strikes. Ordered the Potato Latkes with Corned Beef. The meal arrives with peameal bacon (back bacon.) I mention this to my server who, after checking with the kitchen, tells me they don't have Corned Beef anymore. Gee, thanks for the warning, giving me a choice and the heads up. Substitution without a word from the kitchen or Server (who didn't notice.) Now look at the picture, like the steak before it, the whole thing is anemic and bland. Basically I ended up with a plateful of potatoes and for the price, it was NOT a bargain. And I could have used more than the slight drizzle of Hollandaise sauce covering those eggs. *** 2018: Haven't been to The Church Street Garage since they had mussels on the menu so it's been a while. I miss those btw. My Server is clean, polite, engaging and attentive. Can't ask for more. Steak & Eggs for a Sunday breakfast. I like the fact they open at 9 AM (weekends only.) Church Street is rather limited in choices for early breakfast. Nothing majorly wrong with the meal itself although the steak arrives without seasoning & looks a tad anemic. Would salt and pepper be such an added expense? I suggest my Server tell whoever cooked the darn thing. And for 17 dollars the plate could use a couple more potatoes. An order of calamari arrives. Again nothing majorly wrong. They are plump and juicy. I prefer them a tad more on the crispy side but that's a personal preference. The aioli dip is fine. The Caesar is well made and gives a seasoned kick. I'm told the A/C is broken...again...but the windows are open and a good breeze makes the seating comfortable. One or two floor fans wouldn't hurt. A parting shot of Jameson helps things out. Would I go back? Well, yes and no. I'm hoping for a better meal and I go for the three strikes you're out scenario. Especially if it's opening night. Gawd those are hilarious. Let's not forget, it's a Bar first and I'm pretty sure you can forget about the Grill part.

I think I experienced the same rudeness from the waiter at this place from another reviewer. It was our first time here and we gather up the courage to go out for the first time since the pandemic. Then this tall caucasian male waiter came with no greetings, no smile and ask for our order. We told him we just sat down need more time. It has ruined our mood. Then he came again, took our order and just arrogantly LEFT when we haven't finished with our order. We had to call him back. Two minutes later another waiter (much more polite than the other one) came and ask what was our order was. We told him and we saw this polite waiter talking our actual table waiter, we assume he FORGOTTEN what was our initial order (it was just a 3 items: two drinks and a snack). When he deliver our order, he just drop it and left when I was about to ask for napkins. Later that night we're trying to ask him for the bill from across the room by raising my hand up. He's looking at my direction but didn't care even though I kept waiving my arms. We had to ask for another waiter to get our table's bill. This is why tipping shouldn't be mandatory because we are forced to give tips for a poor service.

Pros: Our server was great, lovely individual kind and super helpful and attentive Cons: The food and drinks were horrible. My partner got Avocado "Toast". It looked like a 5 year old put it together. The bread wasn't toasted. (How you have Avocado toast and not toast the bread especially rye bread at that". It was toppes with a few slices of Avocado, a tomato slice and cucumber. That's it. Dry and bland. And somehow $17. I got eggs Benedict and was served broken hollandaise. How you serving people a broken sauce. The most visual sign that the sauce wasn't made right at all. Looked like oil and water trying to mix. And to top it off the $4 mimosas tasted watered down. You know when you get orange juice and you forget to shake it up, you pour it over ice and then the ice melts then you decide to drink the orange juice. That's what the mimosa tasted like. And no bubbles. Just watery juice. So if you go my recommendation is eat and drink before you go. So when you go you can enjoy the drag show while drinking water. Cause at least that was good...if you like water without ice at room temperature

Visiting from out of town , and a bartender from another bar told me to go here for lunch. It was sat afternoon around 2pm. Not crowded at all. So I sit out side and wait for a menu or even for someone to acknowledge me... I waited and waited , as several servers walked right by me. I waited for 25 min , and finally gave up and went somewhere to eat. Before I sat down outside , I went in, and asked someone if I needed to wait to be seated or just take an empty table. The blond guy who was a server said just take any table ( there were many open ) He was so rude and nasty to me and I felt like he was so bothered that I would even ask him a question. So I take a seat , he walks by several times and doesn't even say , 0h someone will be right with you ". After 25 min , I just left. Wont be going back to this bar on my next visit to Toronto The staff at woodys and the black eagle were very pleasant and nice ! Toronto is such a great city , and everyone I came in contact with was super nice .... Exocet for this server. He may have just been having a bad day ....

I come here a lot offer work for drinks and snacks, and always have felt welcome and well cared for. The staff are charming the drinks are correct and the food is really good! They make a proper long island iced tea, and the nachos are melty perfection. I often also get the 3 for $20 appetizers, you can get mozzarella sticks, deep fried pickles, jalepeno poppers, onion rings, sweet potato fries or regular fries I believe. The onion rings are a particular stand out, and the deep fried pickles. Big outdoor patio lots of room, drag shows on some nights, gender neutral bathrooms, cute vibes all around. My favorite pub in the village! Also I've never seen them play sports on the televisions, and the music is always fantastic.

This was my first time at this establishment. First, I have to say the service was spot on and super friendly and attentive. Great selection to choose from on the menu. My friend and I decided to try the chili and the shepherd's pie. Both dishes were phenomenal and I would highly recommend the chili. The shepherd's pie was lacking some seasoning but I quickly fixed that with some salt and pepper. The cocktails here are simply amazing so make sure you try those. I will definitely be back in the future because I've got my eye on that steak sandwich :-)

Fun diner style bar. Went there for lunch and an afternoon cocktail. Had a nice summer salad which had strawberries, oranges, almonds and an orange vinaigrette. I didn't get any additional protein, although grilled chicken or even shrimp would have went well. Quesadilla and burgers we're good as well. It's your average diner style menu. Salads, sandwiches, burgers, etc. They have a fun bar which was nice. Staff was super friendly and very attentive. Place has plenty of outdoor seating during the spring and summer months. Great for people watching on Church. Garage bar was a nice spot to stop in for lunch after walking the city and before our drinking marathon on Church began.

The manager (or whoever manages the entrance of people) was extremely rude to organize the situation of the entrance of people. There were seats at the table where I was, my friends could get in and she said they could only get in if she was sure that my friends had consumed more than the other people waiting in line… My friends were very upset that we didn't manage to get together on the day we had agreed to go out. And yes, our table spent more than 500 dollars and we probably would have spent more if the manager hadn't been so rude and tactless towards the customers... unfortunately the first Halloween in Toronto could have been better...

This place had some great food , we had the calamari which was not loaded with external flavours , the wings was highly concentrated with buffalo sauce which was delicious , however the carrot they gave as a side didn’t look as appetising . my friend and i visited the church st. garage for some post-dinner drinks and dessert and we had the BEST time! the music had us singing and dancing in our seats the entire time, our drinks were the best kind of sweet, the cake was mouth-wateringly delicious, and our server lindsay was nothing short of absolutely amazing— she definitely made our entire night! the minute we walked through the door, we felt right-at-home. we felt accepted and free to be ourselves— it’s obvious why the garage is a neighbourhood favourite! we’re already planning our next visit for a weekend drag show.

I recently had the steak sandwich at Church St Garage, and it was an exceptional experience. As a frequent visitor to their restaurant, I can confidently say that Chef Ashraf is the heart and soul of this establishment. Without his culinary expertise, I wouldn't consider going back. The food is not only delicious but also beautifully presented. I'll definitely be ordering it again soon.

I just go for drinks and the drag shows, I love them a lot. I'd happily go for food one day based on all the 5 star reviews. I will say I bring ear plugs with me because the sound system isn't balanced, and the mics are cheap and too loud. It's not a complaint, it's a bar that to my knowledge only hosts drag and doesn't host musicians. It's okay that they aren't impeccable with sound levels. Just bring some basic concert earplugs and you'll be set to enjoy the wonderful performers. I'm new to the neighbourhood and this place is my go to.

New to us. Looking for a place to have a bite after a long flight and unwind a bit. Our server Jeremy was just outstanding he was so engaging and fun. I had the Garage Burger which was outstanding and the French Frys were perfection. The menu was extensive with many offerings. Drink menu had something for everyone. A cold Stella sure hit the spot. It was busy. The drag Queens performing. People dancing. Check it out. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Had a truly wonderful time on the patio! The kfc cauliflower bites were amazing! I didn't love my chicken tenders but I'm a notoriously picky texture eater so I wouldn't hold my opinion with too much weight in that regard! The best place in Downtown Toronto to spend an evening with friends. Some nights have amazing drag shows, great performances that add to the overall ambience. I had the summer salad with steak ($20.00) white sitting on the patio with Mr. C. The best part about hanging with Mr. C (my bestie) is that he likes ugly men. How awesome is it that you and your bestie will never fight over dudes? The steak was perfectly cooked and salad ingredients were fresh. I loved our server's warm and generous personality. She was divine. I prefer this establishment over the franchise across the street. I'll be back!

Went for the patio experience and was not disappointed. Our server was incredibly polite and accommodating. Made sure I got my preferred drink of choice (Hot chocolate) and made it well too! The veggie wrap I got along with surprisingly good as well.

I was walking home from Loblaws earlier today with some fresh bread. The window was open at the Garage. These girls had a great show going so I went in for a drink. The construction guys were setting up the patios for the summer I think. I love our village. I will be back next Saturday if the girls are. Too bad the construction guys aren't there more often. Lol. The girls will keep them honest.♥️

Hit this place up for brunch on Church in the Village. Despite a 15 minute wait for service (they didn't appear busy) the Truckstop sandwich was delicious for a mere $10. Choice of bacon, peameal or sausage, with real cheese and tangy mayo, with home fries (deep fried then baked) and side slices of fresh orange. Delicious! The patio is sunny and provides great people and dog watching. I'll be back for seconds.

We LOVED our experience here! Being first timers in the country (and bar) everyone was SO nice, helpful, and all around friendly. Not only were the drinks AMAZING (try the Raspberri Limeade!!!) but the food and vibes were also there. Highly recommend!!! Also, Jeremy is an amazing server and gave us great recommendations!!!!!

I'll give 5 stars for the food. Since delivery was down, we ordered a variety of salads, mains and nachos for pick up. All were packaged amazingly and all were delicious. The service was fast and friendly. I found a hair in my food. That was the only problem. Thankfully it was nearing on the last bite of my steak salad. Will definitely be returning as I'm sure the hair was a one-off.

The service is quite bad. I am currently sitting on the patio, and have been for 40 minutes, and I had one drink. I finished my beer nearly 20 minutes ago and the server is nowhere to be found. Don’t come here. With O’Grady’s and the The Church Mouse across the street, you’re better off going there.

We went to the Garage for brunch, but unfortunately the hours on the website were inaccurate and we arrived too late. Apparently brunch ends at 2:30 not 3:30. Nevertheless, we had a lovely lunch.

We visit here every few months and it's always a good time. The patio is great in the summer and Purple Rain is a fun cocktail to try. We had burgers this time and they didn't disappoint.

Had a super fun night. The drag show was the highlight! Very friendly vibe. Drinks and food are just okay.

Had so much fun! Good drinks. Good service. There is food as well. When I went there was a drag show going on. I really enjoyed my experience there. Give it a try. It is a lot of fun .

I suggest paying by card only, not cash. The waitress takes more tips for herself.

They seated us right away and the food and drinks came quite fast so great service. Not a huge fan of the sandwich I ordered but I’m sure the rest of their menu is good. More

Great interesting bar on Chirch St. Staff is friendly and drinks come fast. First time there but I'd say time spent was fun and I'd easily comeback.

Don’t come here if you are vegan my only option was “avocado” toast (cheap store bought guac). It was $20 for 1 slice and no side lol

Lovely crowd, great karaoke host. A big improvement over the other two hosts. Love the Halloween decorations as well!

We had a great time very friendly food was good and so were the drinks, in town for USA vs. Canada in blind hockey.

Been there on weekend. They had a drag show which was entertaining. The crowd was good. The food was amazing.
