PLEASE NOTE - Second tuesdays of every month are a holiday Fourth Saturdays are also a holiday. Government holidays = library closed. Monday - opens around 10am closes around 5pm. Remaining days - 8.30am to 8pm. If library washroom is closed, use the South end circle metro washroom. Good study space. Electronic devices allowed. Charging ports present but not allowed to use (can't help library rules) Baggage deposit shelf available and it is compulsory to leave your bags in the shelf. No tokens will be given. It's solely your responsibility, but don't worry nobody will misplace your stuff. It is usually very safe. Drinking water available. Toilet available(behind the librarian/reception desk) No canteens, you can eat from nearby places. Great staff, very polite and approachable in general but particular staff members are strict so maintain behavior(especially that lady librarian is kinda strict) Categorised space. Newspaper readers ground floor. Self study/students sit in first floor. Nobody bothers you, just sit when you want and leave when you want. Great place if you're an introvert too. Please be mindful while using phones and laptops, use it for studies only. Don't disrespect others studying. Space is limited and if you are sitting there and wasting time then it's better you leave the space for others. Seats are comfy and even few writing pad made out of wood are available but you'll have to be there early to grab it for yourself. If you are new to the place and don't know anything, just tell the staff that you're new there and they'll help you. They are approachable. You can eat small snacks like chocolate in the library but just out of respect you can consider going outside and sit anywhere in the library premises under a tree and eat if you are hungry between study sessions. Drinking water/RO filter available in ground floor. Please make sure to switch on the RO filter before taking water as it might be off at times. Both gents and ladies washroom available inside library as well(located behind reception/librarian desk entrance is on right side of news paper reading area). If for any reason the washrooms aren't accessible, you may use the SOUTH END CIRCLE METRO STATION washroom (5mins from library by walk). Everything is free, only pay when you need to take a book home.

City Central library , south end . One of the biggest libraries owned and managed by the government in and around South Bangalore . Me being 36 , have been visiting since 2003 . I rate 5 / 5 for : 1.) Plenty of daily newspapers and weekly magazines for the everyday reader . 2.) Humungous collection for the lending reader + huge variety for the all day . students preparing for competitive exams . 3.) Ramp is provided . Toilets and whole surroundings are well maintained . Drinking water available . Staff is polite . 4.) Though being at a strategic location , inside is calm and peaceful . The missing last 5th star from my side necessitates the improvements like : 1.) New membership requires filling application form , printed photos , ID photocopy and govt official signature in application form . This can be done using a computer on the spot . 2.) Computers are not installed for online reference . 3.) Government approves loads of money for libraries , there is chance for much more lending books and competition exams books allocation . 4.) Every Monday , second Tuesday , second and fourth Saturday , national holidays are all closed days for library . The holidays can be reduced . My overall rating would be 4.5 / 5 .

You'll find so many different types of people from all age groups (but mostly youngsters from the college nearby :P) coming so early to get a seat... Pros : A very large collection of books which can be borrowed for a very low membership cost. Well maintained, as opposed to some other libraries where the books are barely in their respective sections. Sitting and reading is free, the membership is required only for borrowing books. The place is surprisingly quiet considering it is in the corner of an intersection of 5 main roads. The trees around the place and the adjacent park is a good source of "fresh air". Cons : Quite a few chairs are broken. Gotta come early to get a seat. I visited this place after 10 years, and even though it seemed to be the same as I last saw it at a glance, there are definitely some improvements.

one of the best places to study.... this is my go to library everyday. but there is so much room for improvement. it would be just awesome if they provide free wifi or atleast allow the people there to use the charging cords. i dont know why put they dont allow you to charge your devices at charging points. secondly, the interior infrastructure can be improved. the toilet , the drinking water side... one more thing.... all the public libraries love announcing holiday for the silliest reason. as a student, you can NOT rely on this library for your every day studies. make sure you have backup like a nearby study centre or something. besides all these, its a great place.... i love it

Everything around the world is getting updated and getting new makeover except this Library. This library still has chairs manufactured in Gandhi era, books such an eye sore, old outdated, filthy encyclopaedias, dust piled up on books shelves must from The flintstone era. Library, that has more than 60 students and avid readers visiting in a day, still not able to provide clean washrooms. Stench from washroom is spread across the hall. We really to NEED learn from other countries, the way importance and necessary infrastructure provided to library that cater to students.

Very negative experience. Always this library is crowded. Always. Not a single seat is available. Members come early in the morning and block seats. Mostly the members come there to block seats and waste time checking phone. Or keep their belongings on the seat and roam outside wasting time. For genuine students who want to study, this leaves a very negative taste. The management isn't concerned whatsoever.

Best place to study. Good atmosphere, quiet, spacious for self study. Not much of collection. For the past 1 week there's no water supply to washroom due to an issue with motor. On enquiry with the admin, it is understood it might take another 1week to rectify the issue. This has resulted in sharp decline in the number of students visiting library. Poor management.

Been going here for more than 4 months regularly. There is enough space for everyone. The book collection is okayish but this place is excellent to study if you're an aspirant. There is a drinking water facility and toilet for men and women too. Very near to south end metro station and also there is a park right in front of the Library if you want to take a walk.

  • Ganapati S

Located at a stone throw distance from the busy South End circle, this library is easily accessible by the book readers. In the present context of post pandemic looks like refurbishment and re arrangement of books seems still pending and on-going. The ambience though quiet is devoid of the traffic sound. Overall worth visiting for any regular reading enthusiasts.

First of all , The library staff came super late, around 10 am while all the students were waiting outside and thn locked the gate from inside and didn't open it from another 1 and half hour while everyone was waiting outside. Just because it's a govt library, it doesn't give emm the right to run it on there own way. This is not how its supposed to be.

Amazing place to sit and study on your own. Students sitting and studying for hours inspire and motivate you to stretch your study schedule ...... You can use your electronic gadgets as a source to study (without disturbing others ). You need not be a member to study there but if you want to borrow books you have to....

  • Dr. Pavan Acharya

Great place to study if you are preparing for entrance exams. You are allowed to carry your own books, but have to come early as places get filled quickly. Good collection of books although most are older editions. Great area to read newspapers and magazines of all frequencies. You can also apply for membership too.

  • Dr Kiran Srinivas

BIT NOISY, CONGESTED, RUTHLESS STAFF! This place is good for those 60+ grandpas who wants to read some old novels or newspapers. Gets filled soon with all the pu students who come to do homeworks, goddamn. Those who expect calm spacy lib, you'll be disappointed.. I would definitely skip this one.

  • Raju Parmeshwar

You can take ur own books as well as laptops for study purpose. Very quite place to study. There is a garden as well, opp to the library which is opened from 4PM-8PM, place to park vehicles, hotels & shady place outside the library. On an average basis mrng n afternoon are peak hours in library.

  • Aishwarya Kankeri

  • Kishore Bhat

Usually filled completely. Everyone will be studying so there will an studying atmosphere. Not very spacious. Peaceful place. Parking is limited. Books collection is moderate. Most of them who comes to study are college students. Major newspapers are available.

  • Chandra Kanth

This is one of the best library in bengaluru. Ground floor is reception and newspaper section. First floor is books section. If you are a book lover this place is for you. It is adjacent to South end circle and ambience is ideal to study books or magazines.

  • Big B
